What a cool reaction. I love Rare Earth had the live album on vinyl. The extended jam on this song is amazing. Actually met the guys years ago around 1984 super nice dudes.
I used to love their grooves, the drummer's soulful vocals, the horns, they sometimes had wah-wah guitar which was a plus for me. In Concert or the Midnight Special, I'd be there, glued to the tube. ✊🏼😊🎉🎶❤️🍁❤️✨️🕊
Hmm….I thought I requested a song you guys didn’t know. Now I have to come up with another one. Rare Earth is from Detroit. Thanks for the shout out. ✌🏼
First white act signed to Motown. Motown named the label after the band. The long version was released on their second album but their first for Motown. These Detroit guys ROCKED!
I love the shots of the audience on these old live performances 😊❤ I remember seeing Smokey Robinson sing this at The Michigan State Fair and it was fantastic ❤
Temptations did it first, but Rare Earth went higher on the charts. Peaked at 4. Yes they are Detroiters. I was a Detroit suburbanite from the late 60's through the 70's. Detroit radio was magic. And we love our local boys and girls in the music biz. I am pretty sure they got their name from chemistry. There is a group of mineral elements given that name. They are hard to isolate, that is why they are rare.
Written by Smokey Robinson, “Get Ready” was first a hit for the Temptations, in 1966. Rare Earth, who were then known in and around Detroit as the Sunliners, added the song to their concert setlist that same year.
What you saw here was some live performance footage more or less synched with the single (radio) version audio of the song. Rare Earth were the first white band signed to an album deal with Motown. Barry Gordy made a subsidiary label to market them to a white audience and named it Rare Earth Records after the group. Get Ready was a Motown song (The Temptations I think), that Rare Earth was already playing in concert before they even got to Motown. They recorded it on a Psychedelic Pop album that they cut for Verve records that was called Dreams & Answers. That was probably one of the things that got Barry Gordy's attention. On their first Motown (self titled) album they recorded an EPIC live version of the song to which they jammed out for well over 20 minutes! It took up the whole second side of the album. They had success with I Just Want to Celebrate, I Know I'm Losing You, Born to Wander, Hey Big Brother, We're Gonna Have a Good Time.
They got so many tunes, hey big brother, the 447 studio version,i couldn't believe what happened last night, funky black man, countless others, blacks loved them
As Ann Mills says below Rare Earth were from Detroit, Michigan, and were the first all White band signed by Berry Gordy at Motown. I remember dancing to their hit "I Just Want To Celebrate" in Junior High. The Junior High was very cool, we had dancing during school, with the Phys Ed Coaches being the DJ's. Rare Earth was BIG, BIG, BIG.
My parents told me when i was young that there was an awesom band where the singer was the drummer. This was the band! I might got yall a band that probably hasnt been played maybe at all on here.... Silent Theory - Fragile minds. One of my favorite modern bands of all time and a great song. Yall have a good night!
This is the recorded version synced to the performance, because the actual performance has him slurring the words because he was drunk. They still jammed heavy! He just couldn't get the words out.
Words cannot describe how much I love you and importantly respect you. 5 years a scribe, trippin missed reactions as we speak. Now you do This? Thank you boys. Much love from Canada!!! We gonna go fishing one day! Bucket list. ✌

Here's a new artist to give a listen, if interested. "Sam Cooke - A Change Is Going To Come - 1963" (by the channel: entre Ciel Et Terre) --This iconic song was sung by the legendary great Sam Cooke. It initially appeared on his album called "Ain't That Good News" released in 1964...gentlemen this song will cause the hair on the back of your neck to stand-up. lol (imo)
As for drummers singing lead.. Don Henley eagles, Phil Collins, ringo did little, Karen carpenter, levon helm of the band, Taylor Hawkins and dave gohl is foo fighters, Sheila e., Chris Cornell started as the drummer for soundgarden. Sorry guys not that rare.
The FULL version is one of the very best Jam Sessions in Rock History, its 21:29 minutes long and is Pure Musical Bliss!
@@scottmatzeder9162 it’s one of the best, It is pure magic my friend!

LOVE ME some RARE EARTH!! WOW - THIS brings back some GREAT MEMORIES!!! :) BANGER!! HUGS, YA'LL!
Now you need to hear Vanilla Fudges remake of You Keep Me Hanging On (a Supremes hit). They were also signed by Motown. 👍👍👍

"A Knight's Tale" has a great soundtrack, this song was in it. A great movie with Heath Ledger.
Excellent concert band. I saw them at Pirates World in Dania, Florida in '73 or '74 & they were memorable.
1966 temptations did it first but rare earth did better version. There is a longer version of this song
This is the recorded version synced to the performance, because the actual performance has him slurring the words because he was drunk. They still jammed heavy! He just couldn't get the words out.
OMG, I learned this song from my dad, this was his music and I went from pop rock to metal
If you know guitar 🎸 players Dennis Coffey he makes all music sounds great 👍 he on back of albums
He actually produced rare earth
I miss these times when music was fun.
Fantastic song and band🤘

Motown’s greatest white band.
Imo the best version of this song
The Temptations originally did this song
Rare Earth did it better..imo
I love this but I also love the Motown version. I love Motown in general.
They were motown
@@richbumdrop2881 OK
Thx cyndi I also listed in the comments as well
70's core. 😆
These guy's cover of this song is the funkiest version of it but the original version by the Temptations is still the best version! JMO!
You should check out one their often overlooked songs "In Bed"
"The drummer was the singer", ahem Phil Collins, Karen Carpenter and others.
Just noticed you've done a couple Black Label Society reactions...but not Crazy Horse....feel like you should check that one out.
The Temptations+ Motown at it's best
Can tell by the length of the video this is a truncated version go back and listen to the LP version
It's a Patreon request. They left the link to this version on the request. But yeah, I'd have preferred the full version too.
Agreed there's about couple of minutes missing
@@msfoodiediva yeah around 18 minutes worth

How do you not know that this is the Temptations? Maybe you should Google song titles before filming. Kinda of dropped the ball on this one fellas.
Tempts
Need to do steam na na na hey hey good bye. Thought they were black but not
The only white band on Motown.
Still no Warning reactions. Don’t like Mexicans, do you? Or maybe female Mexicans?
