When you think of Jackson 5, you may be thinking of the musical family the Jacksons group comprised of Jackie Jackson, Tito Jackson, Jermaine Jackson, Marlon Jackson and Michael Jackson. This performance was in 1970, shortly after they had sold 2 million records of their first hit, "I Want You Back"- they would go on to hit the charts at #1 for their 4 debut singles- ABE, Love You Save, and I'll be There.

Imagine being 9 years old and admiring The Beatles and decades later you own their music publishing. That is super boss moves....long live the legacy of Michael Jackson. 🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿
ALMIGHTY KING OF MUSIC,FOREVAH AND TODAY!!!!!!
The oringinal sweet big Apple head!!!!
💘💚❤️💗HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY 1970 on AMERICAN BANDSTAND 1:00 p.m. SAT.💗💗
And years later, buying the Beatles catalogue 😂😂😂
It is exactly 19 years later. Barely two decades that is. Michael was 27 when he bought the publisher. But please MJ fans we need to realize that the move was not to show power. It was purely business. You might argue he could have invested in other companies but the guy loved music. He also had top-notch advisers which made the deal conclude successfully.
MJ had so much charisma. Star quality was in his dna.
Little Michael is so cute and he's always cute in all his years❤️❤️

The Jackson 5 are classics I love it when there all together
I still love the Jacksons but I liked it better when they were all together
@@graciemacie13 and younger
It's amazing to see how polished they all were even at the beginning especially Michael. Michael also learned at a very young age the one who controls the Mic is the one who controls the power. I love how Michael just started singing ABC like it was something he did everyday. It seemed so effortlessly for them.
They had to practice over and over Joseph made them work so hard to the bone. But I guess that's what made them so great
They never were arrested or on drugs growing up I give Mrs Katherine Jackson all my respect for the great job she did raising all of them she was the foundation of love to them all ❤️👍🏻
Love to you MJFANGIRL
KEEP IT UP YOUR SO GREAT. ❤️🇺🇸
I Was Born in 96. I Attended The 30th anniversary Consert 2001 at age 5

His eyes said:🥺🥺
That smile is amazing 😁👍.
Goosebumps! I just wanna hug the little Michael so badly
He was such a little charmer..with that smile and big twinkling brown eyes.
been doing this since six years old he is a legend
So sorry I missed the live. This is just great. Have been a J5 fan from day one. I remember when this aired. Then got to see them a year later when I was 10. Had third row seat tickets. It was really exciting. Was my first concert
Then in 2003 my son got MJs autograph.
My whole family are die hard Michael Jackson Fans. Love to watch your videos. Keep up the good work.
That is too cool! I would’ve loved to see the Jackson 5 live! Thank you for sharing this story :)
@@MJFANGIRLTV You're so welcome. Yes I am old. Lol
You can kind of see on his face the flash of disappointment about having to lie about his age when he said 9. :( I also noticed in some other videos Michael introducing Tito by his actual name Toriano even though Tito was going by Tito.
07:14 James Brown! But he must say what they demand...
LOL to Micheal not giving up the microphone. I didn't realize the Tito was not going by his nickname until you pointed that out. The Jacksons "Legacy" book is soooo amazing and is a really good reference book.
Yessss! That book is awesome. I read it cover to cover the other day cause I was bored and I learned a lot lol
Dis gon be a bop 🎶😄👍🏾
his lil face is like sunshine
She is just as excited about seeing the Jackson Five on television as I was over 50 years ago as an eight grader in 1970.
7:18 three dog night.
Yessss! Mike really knew his stuff even then
Michael is a year older than me. I fell in love with him far back in Nigeria the first time i saw him. I am one of his greatest fans even today. I love you MJ always and forever, remember that Michael!
M.J was a genius, really a king of music / world. And really a gift from God 😢😢🥰🥰🇷🇴🇷🇴👏👏 love you Michael forever.
Jermaine Jackson underrated vocalist
MJ was a one of a kind
I get so emotional when I watch the Bad Tour in London P Diana and PC were there I believe was MJ at his prime he was electric so fast on his feet.
"MJFOREVER ALWAYS"👼❤️✌️🇺🇸
Dick Clark straight picked up that microphone to see if black magic/excellence was real. lmaolamf
Did anybody peep that?
I love you MJFANGIRL you make the best videos💞 I enjoyed the video🥰
RIP to both Michael and Johnny on the drums.
Can't be touched!! imitated never duplicated!!
What great memories ! I was 8 at the time. I grew up with the Jacksons. I believe during early years Marlon was as good a dancer as Michael. Michael became a mega star, but his foundation was laid with the Jackson Five who are superstars in their own right and were and still are great inspirations for my age group. Please keep the positivity going MJ Fan Girl!😘
The thing that is so marvelous about Michael is that in every stage of his life he was a mesmerizing performer
There were very knowledgable of different music groups, guess that's cuz when they moved they had to go to private school with other famous kids, and also I bet Pappa Joe taught them also, or I think they learnt by themselves especially more so Michael he was a very highly intelligent kid back then
Both the dad and mum were aspiring musicians.
You can tell all the way back then that Michael Jackson was a star. The vocals the dancing, he was everything.!!!
We love the Jackson and beyond.
I'm a different fan girl as in I am freaking out how adorable Michael is!! His like a tiny little smiley singing baby!! 😂🥺❤️
Love you, so much and the Jackson brothers does too! M.J. 4 ever!
This was a great video yet again, girl!!! Can’t remember if you’ve done a video on this, but wondered if you’d do a thoughts/reaction/analysis on the Jacksons American Dream film?
1:22 Mike's face 😂😂😂
"...We call this the Jackie" 😂😂. That made sense. You had me cracking up, laughing. Thank you, Miss Sweet looking!
There's an interview where i heard that it's their Mom Katherine who made their coordinated attires for them...and you can see they've practiced alot, you can see it when they start their songs, no dead air, no unsure notes and movements
I have the tape me and my family we watched the video and as often as possible I love it.
I was born' 85.
But damned I love this Man.
I cried watching his ups and down when he was alive. How People still putting him down until now!
I am proud by his mom having him in this world.Gone too soon Sweet, sweet angel❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Keep it up please...thank you for all the information...love the way you love them...🥰😄🥰
At this point they'd already performed this song a zillion times on live and taped shows; doing American Bandstand was like a walk in the park compared to Ed Sullivan or Hollywood Palace or any of the MANY prime time variety shows they had already been on before AB. They look super relaxed and very well rehearsed....
I know some will look at my comment and say what?! Lol but who ever that involved with the j5 style it is bad ass I love it
Little Michael is so cute😊✌️🌹♥️
Okay, but where did you get that amazing shirt?! 😍 Loved the video!
I wish he was here so I could meet Michael Jackson
Michael and Marlon look like little babies! Sometimes you forget how young they were at this time
Correction ! Michael Jackson didn't have 4 number one singles! right out the gate! it was THE JACKSON 5!! love your passion for these 5 brother's ! love it!!
The Jackson5 was the first "boy band" to achieve national & world success. The Jackson5 created the "boy band" blueprint. Also, the way Jackie, Jermaine & Michael sing back & forth together is sooo
fab-u-lous. Michael is so focused. How could ppl expect him as an Adult 2 b anything less with that kind of drive & focus, studying & learning from the best of the best at #Motown & traveling all over this country as well as internationally ?!
#MichaelJackson earned the title of #TheGreatestEntertainer that ever graced a stage. Can U pls review when Michael performed at the tribute to Sammy Davis Jr.? I believe Elizabeth Taylor attended as well & was in the area where SDJr. was seated too.👌🏾 The song he sang to honor SammyDavis Jr. was really very (as Mel B. would say) 'spot on'. Great #MichaelJackson performance.💜
#ThankU 4 always celebrating & honoring #MJ .. We still feel his loss, most of his #music is timeless. Don't 4get, #Amerikkka was still segregated then, but #America was rising up as an integrated, unified country. Saying 'The Beatles' inspired them was a politically correct answer vs. picking a black act like the #Delfonics & #TheStylistics (Love that Jackie refused to compromise his integrity) #DickClark was from #MtVernonNY & was always trying to integrate his TVShow, but I am 60 yrs old & remember this performance quite well. #MJ was only one yr older than me. My ENTIRE neighborhood were mesmerized in their homes around the ONE TV in their homes. Those few minutes put the #Jackson5 on the map b/c they were kids & teens just like us.
They broke more barriers on Earth than NASA Astronauts broke in space. They united ppl everywhere no matter their skincolor/racial ethnicities .. At the time everything on TV fell into a 'white' or 'black' market. If U were non-anglo, your market was 'black' period. So, the #Jackson5 were much more than a "Family Act" .. They were just Family to us. Soon after that appearance, #BerryGordy secured their own cartoons on Saturday mornings.. with 5 consecutive hits under their belts they were the #1 Act 2 beat, but with all the public's adoration 4 them there was no stopping them. 💜Love❤️the Jackson5 & all the #ScruseJacksonFamily b/c they destroyed that stupid, segregated 'color' line & made the ENTIRE WORLD LOVE THEM UNCONDITIONALLY. Always #TheKingMJ4Ever❤️💜🏃🏿💜❤️
They were so young. It’s amazing that kids that young were so poised and talented
The best Real talk. It's like they we're sent from another PLANET . WOW! 😉
Crazy over the Jacksons!!!!! Loooove your videos ❤️❤️❤️ Keep it up ❤️❤️
Little Michael was adorable. ❤️
Those young mj dances moves elevate the performance to a whole new level. And they werent nervous they had been winning dozens of talent contests and gigs prior to this...
In 1974 I saw a Jackson 5ive concert, and in 1993 a Michael concert! I have all their albums, most of them on vinyl!
yes I remember when this aired on television 1970. I had just turned 13 One of my birthday presents was the ABC album for my birthday love the Jackson 5! ❤️🖤💚🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶💚🖤❤️
I love so much the child, kid, man, soul.
" the Jackie!" Hed love to know this. MJ so took over, the others got shadowed out. We grew up with this. Its impt.to see these videos. They were perfect.
Michael on rockin robin live it's from 1972 was already in a league of his own it's one in a billion talent.
THE KING OF POP WORLD 💖🌍👑😗😃😎🖒!!!!!!!!!!
He is so quite 😁😁😁😁😁😁😁
MJFangirl, it thrills me, how excited you are looking a very old TV-Performance.
It brought me great joy to see you doing a video reaction to THEE Musical group of my childhood!!
Love it. My era. They were bigger than the Beatles.
Wow. She really loves Michael Jackson. I do too 😂😂
Every ARTIST OR GROUPS COMING OUT OF MOTOWN WERE AT THE TOP OF THIER GAME! CAN YOU SAY! THE TEMPTATIONS! STEVIE WONDER, MARVIN GAYE, SUPREMES , THE MIRACLES, SMOKEY ROBINSON, JR WALKER AND THE ALL STARS, THE VANDELLAS, GLADYS KNIGHT AND THE PIPS , THE SPINNERS! THE CONTOURS, MARY WELLS, THE MARVELETTS ....NOTHING BUT HITS!!! EDDIE KENDRICKS, DAVID RUFIN,,,THE LIST GOES ON AND ON!!
The Jacksons will always be my favorite group. Of all time!!!
So sweet 💖💜
Berry Gordy was mad at Suzanne because, he felt that the sound was off! ( FYI)
That's why they started lip syncing because they had no control over the sound equipment on these type of tv shows
ABC ... Adorable+Bad+Cute ...
Adorable Brothers Cute??
I like his young voice.
shoot i was one of their most biggest fans remembering when i use to collect their little 45 records that you could cut out from the back of a cereal box and play it on my 45 record player to watching their cartoons on tv. they were phenomenal... and yes i was there the time they were coming out.. lol
Thank u for the history of the Jackson 5. Not for nothing but these guys been on top forever.
This was so awesome fangirl I wish I was awake earlier to see this
You should give a listen to one of my favorite J5 tunes "With a Child's Heart" Micheal is doing all the lead singing on it.
I Want You Back and ABC always make me want to sing. I still have lots to learn about Michael Jackson history and this gave me a taste of their history, and his too
I’m a kid and I love the Jackson 5
Absolutely Right I Couldn't help but dance to these songs!!
0:17 and like the button straight
I'm glad you uploaded this. I remember seeing this the first time around. It's so great to see new generations really appreciating this. I'm dancing away here right now
I adore this! I was 5 years old at this time but this music always puts me in my happy place! Thank You!!!
Hi MJ FANGIRL hope you are having a wonderful day
Definitely enjoyed that video. There is another song they did on the same show but its always bad quality. It's "Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Da" and "There was a time" Definitely have to check that performance out!
i love how rare the clips are!! Treasures!! 😍😍
You pointed out something that's very true about they outfits being different. Motown was very particular about complete uniform outfits.
It's so much fun to watch this with you! 😊
I can't express how much I enjoyed this video - I've played this video a few times now - your comments are spot on - and re. their outfits... you know that their Mom was making them at that time, right? They are SO impressive, it's so iconic, so rare - that level of talent & focus - and SELFLESSNESS; I think that shines through... unlike artists of today, who seem to feel entitled to 'honor', they were there to share what they developed and hope that the audience enjoyed it, and remained humble throughout - that makes a huge difference. I really love this, thanks so much for doing it.
He was actually 10 in 1970 since he was born on August 29th 1958. This was from January 1970 which was the same Month that Diana Ross did her last performance as a member of The Supremes. The Show you are watching is American Bandstand that was overall on the air from 1952-1989. It started out in Philadelphia as Bob Horn's Bandstand but when Bob got fired for his addiction to young girls and alcohol Dick Clark took it over and it debuted on August 5th 1957. Back in the day at least i n the 1970's there were three shows to do. This one, Soul Train & The Midnight Special. This was the first of many performances that they did and as you know other Jacksons appeared on the show from Janet, Rebbie, Latoya and Jermaine as a Solo Act.
Your the best for doing this! Let's keep Michael legacy going forever!
I was 4 years old when this aired. Seeing this footage again made me happy and sad at the same time. I am literally crying right now. I loved this family performing together.
I L.O.V.E this omg, Michael had so much energy, young MJ, is so cute and adorable, he was definitely born to perform and it definitely showed. L.O.V.E THE JACKSON 5❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️such a great video MJFANGIRL. And I L.O.V.E your reaction too.❤️❤️❤️❤️
