I remember watching this when it was first on the Ed Sullivan Show - I would have been 13, and I was just blown away, just amazed by that kid ... !

Ah yes, the great Jackson 5 (later called "The Jacksons")! One of my early favorite groups! Their rivals at the time were The Osmond Brothers (later called "The Osmonds") but The Jackson 5 always was number one in my book. Yes, this is where it all started for Michael. His brother Jermaine, off to our right on the stage playing the guitar, also made quite a name for himself. So did sisters Janet and the Latoya. Some other songs worth listening to are, "I'll Be There" and "The Love You Save (May Be Your Own.)" And there's a host of others as well, lol.

I grew up listening to and loving the Jackson 5. I was 7 when they did this particular performance on the Ed Sullivan Show. I had their albums, posters, magazine articles. I saw them in concert when I was 10. They had a Saturday morning cartoon that I watched religiously. There was NOBODY like the Jackson 5!! Please check out their performance of "Whose Loving You?" on this same show. Michael was only 11 years old, but he sang that song like he has actually experienced what Smokey Robinson meant when he wrote that song. 😊

He had the most talent, but one of the reasons for his performance skills was because the dad of the Jackson 5 drilled them all to be performers and was vary demanding. I am sure their dad oversaw every movement the group made was in line with what was scripted. It wasn't all the healthiest thing for a young boy like Michael but at least he had the spirit to overcome it.

No rumors, there were child abuse. He was amazing because of his talents not the abuse
Joe Jackson beat gold records outta his kids and so screwed up Micheal . He created a legend but also created the demons that legend lived and died from.
