PCOS messes up the balance of the hormones. Stress definitely aggravates it. Try balance your diet and exercise .get blood tests and get a good doctor.
As a hair surgeon, I completely agree that PCOS can significantly affect hormone balance, which in turn can contribute to hair thinning or loss. Stress can definitely make it worse, so managing it is key. A balanced diet and regular exercise can help regulate hormones, but it’s important to get comprehensive blood tests to check hormone levels and ensure you're on the right track.
I’ve heard from many female OBGYNs say that birth control makes the insulin resistance worse. Also, I tried rosemary oil for my scalp. It’s not doing anything. I’m using Minoxidil at this point. I don’t even know if it’ll mess up my hormones. I prefer natural ingredients but they aren’t working.

I tried it, hot Spearmint tea with NO Sugar, not even honey, twice a day to help with my PCOS acne, it helped, but you have to stay consistent for about a month. My face was less irritated and not as oily. I got tired of drinking tea twice a day so I put two packets of hot Spearmint tea in my mug every morning and that helped too. I really hope this helps you!
I don't know but I heard the same I drink it..I also drink nettle, and ginger(always organic..)for it's antiinflammatory properties..and added pumpkin, grounded flax, and more turmeric to my diet..I avoid barley, rye, and wheat..but I also cut down on all other grains, and removed soy, rice etc....less migraines =less pain killers, less bloating, less acne, less brainfog, less stiffness in my joints....thats the difference I have felt at this point...
I have PCOS and i dye my hair, plus some iron deficency and a nodule in my thyroid. Is there anything i can add to my diet to help my hair? I used to have really full volume hair and now it is way thinner. I dont want to take anticontraceptives because i did before and they had depression side effects and made me gain weight
Yes, there are ways to manage PCOS-related hair loss without birth control pills. I often recommend anti-androgen medications like spironolactone, which help block the hormones causing hair thinning. Adjusting your diet to a low-glycemic one, rich in whole foods, can also help balance hormones. Supplements like inositol, omega-3s, and biotin can support hair health as well. For topical treatment, I suggest minoxidil to stimulate hair growth.
Hi Sir, i am also suffering from female pattern hair loss lost so much of the hair .. doctor prescribed me minoxidil... But i am afriad if the side affects... Will topical minoxidil casue facial hair growth? Pls let me know@@drkopelman
@@drkopelmanThanks, my 14 year old daughter has unfortunately inherited PCOS from me, 25 years ago I was given the bcp Dianette which cleared my acne. Our Derm says she doesn’t like prescribing birth control to treat acne or PCOS, I’m not sure why though. She’s offered my daughter either Accutane or spironolactone, she would benefit more from the Spiro for PCOS I think and I’m not comfortable with the risks associated with taking accutane, but how about Spironolactone - is it generally considered safe if you’re not pregnant / breastfeeding? She’s so young I don’t want to take any risks 😢
Such a helpful information. Are there any correlation between PCOS and floppy eyelid syndrome? I was diagnosed with PCOS and FES, I'm only 26 so is very traumatic for me. Thanks a lot, god bless you!
Ty for this content, plz reply I'm on yasmin bc & spiro50mg past 9months but thinning getting worse derm won't help, if I add pumkinseed oil capsules will this help or any advise in general will be helpful tysm
I heard that pumpkin seed oil and rosemary oil help, but with the rosemary oil it needs to be added with another essential oil to help hair loss. I am on the same journey so I can't tell you if this works, but I am trying the "Mane Choice Alpha Growth Oil", it has rosemary, castor oil, jojoba and other oils in it. I am on my first day so we will see what happens.
I’m glad you found the content helpful! Yasmin and spironolactone are often good treatments for hormonal hair loss, but if you’re still noticing thinning, adding pumpkin seed oil may help as it has some studies suggesting it can support hair growth. However, it’s not a cure-all, and results vary.
