- I've tried to get the soft top on my BMW E64 so many times, chemicals, Renovo System, Lichen remover from Ebay, stuff from Amazon - nothing got that lichen off or made the top go back to a deep black.

I have used your videos several times to keep my 18 year old 650i on the road, and that bl**dy lichen is the bane of my life, and also on my daughter’s Audi A3. I just bought a new Kärcher washer with the same nozzle, so I will definitely give that a try! Keep posting 👏🏻👍🏻

Never used a karcher jet wash on my soft top roof since 16 years, but I do vacuum the roof with a karcher hoover every couple of months and its great at removing debris and the tiny pollen spores that set on the soft top.....
Great tip! I use a lint-roller (usually used for getting lint off of suits) - cheap and woks so well!

Well, it took two attempts, but at long last the roofs on my 650i and my daughter’s A3 are black again! No green tinge and no lichen! I would never have taken a chance with the pressure washer without your tip, so many, many thanks! 😎

I just bought an 09’ the other day and see that I can roll the windows down by holding the unlock key. It should trigger the top to come down as well, however I only hear the top unlock . Just to say my convertible top works perfectly fine accept for this function. Do you have any idea as to why this may occur?

Thanks! Yes, I changed for exactly the same battery and didn't register it - without any problems!
Do you treat the top in anyway after jetting it to maintain its suppleness and waterproofing. Looks very clean but would imagine that if you were to continue to wash it that way, you would also wash away any of its natural protective oils. and properties . Great video Tim. Hi Tim , great video and I have been doing that for years and use a product called royal shine that also just sprays on and rain just beads off... Did you get your rear window issue fixed?? Wishing you all the best with your fantastic E31....

Great video. What did you use to seal the top when dry?
No need to seal it - although I have used Renovo waterproofing fluid in the past - it lasted about a year, so pretty good. This time I'm not using anything and see how it goes
NO Lichen at all, I use Autoglym soft top renovation system, its great

Lichen, the white stuff seen on outside masonry - very difficult to remove!
@@TimmsBMWRepairsandInformation Thank you. I actually thought it was mold on them convertible top. I have the Bmw Silver w/ light green top and it has got black marks. I'm assuming it's mold or it's age? The canvas is actually in pretty good shape though.
