He didn’t even think about the 6 children he was depriving of their mother, nor her own family and what her death would mean to them. I’ve met millions of awful people who can pass Law, Medical and Dental school. It doesn’t mean anything that he was a successful dentist. Only that the people who claimed to know him likely didn’t, really. His “I didn’t do it” is typical of a narcissist. So is the puzzle comment. This guy may have had anti-social (psycopathy) traits, too. He was sadistic, entitled, lacked empathy, had no boundary recognition and had a grandiose view of himself where he thought he could get away with this. The premeditated nature, going to all that effort to create new email addresses and advise the office assistant not to open a package was all in line with a narcissistic psychopath to be frank. He’s a monster!

I wonder what happened to the death penalty in the case of torture and 1'st degree murder.
Do you have to drive a truck bomb into the Pentagon to receive the death penalty nowadays ? or just execute 20 random children for absolutely no reason.
It seems like the bar has been raised BY A LOT, and I bet that a 100.000 killers and rapists are lingering forever in US prisons just to increase the revenue of the private companies, and is ( imho. ) a fate that's worse than the death penalty for the inmates + drains close to infinite resource for jack shit reasons other than liberal and moral high ground citizens that want to pretend like the Western society is "peaceful"

The least painful way out of a failing marriage, if unwilling or unable to fix it, is a divorce. You would think that in 2023 people would not have to fear any stigma associated with divorce. Yet, some people (usually men) resort to murder to end a failing marriage. It seems like the most inhumane and risky way to end a marriage and I can't help wondering what would drive anyone to make that decision.

Might be better to get info from both those disillusioned with the Mormon religion and those who are not. I am a Mormon. None of this is true about women just randomly obeying men. My ex husband cheated. My bishop and church leaders actually helped me catch him. My ex lost his church membership (aka was excomminicated) These church leaders DID NOT PLAY! I was blown away with the overwhelming support I received from my church leaders. They made it very clear that God did NOT expect me to stay married to a cheater. Women are equal with men. Mormon's who live with the idea men can mistreat women and who are misogynistic are not living the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Doesn't matter the religion or lack of religion... there are good and evil people in all walks of life. Expecting a truthful representation from a former member of a religion is like expecting a person who just got fired to speak highly of the boss. Or a player who is cut from a team to praise the coach who cut him. Anyone worth their salt, as well as any psychologist who knows anything about anything would absolutely expect negative reports in these kind of situations. I dare anyone to find better men than the men in my life who are faithful God-fearing Mormons. Sure, I know a bunch of Jack ass Mormon men, but their behavior is in no way a reflection of the true Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Mormon men are known for having a God complex because their religion is centered around them. He was a higher up in his church so that added to his feelings of superiority. Their religion teaches them that they will become Gods. The women and children are told to be entirely submissive, obedient and without question. Women are instructed to have as many children as possible whether they want them or not. Very patriarchal. Outward appearances of a perfect family life is very important to them. I know the APD, they would not have arrested him in the first place if there was a tiny possibility of him being innocent. APD is probably the only police department in Colorado where the officers are very kind and sweet and would do very extensive researches before arresting anyone.
I'm assuming that the family was a Mormon family, an assumption based on the number of children and you mentioned the wife's trip to Utah, which makes this criminal way more dangerous than any other regular criminal. People in that church try to be ideal and stay away from all sorts of harm if possible. With that in mind, you can see why Jim had violated more laws and rules than regular criminals. I don't have much experience in the field of psychiatry but I am a doctor and I don't understand what can make someone like Jim commit such an ugly crime. You did give a very precise personality profile but as a woman I still don't understand why he killed the woman that was there for him for 16 years.

Having a degree doesn’t mean you’re smart or having good common sense. On top of that, if you’re selfish and grandiose, you’d think no one else is smarter and can figure you out. Divorce is not a good option in these people’s mind. Spousal, child supports are expensive. Having assets split in half is not acceptable to them.
I’ve always believed that seeing how someone spend and use their money, that should tell you a lot about that person. People use money to control, buy favors, affections, fame, etc. If they show no empathy and that they value their money over you or your life, run the other way.

I was an RN working in the ICU of a major hospital. One day I was assigned a patient who, very uncharacteristically, was accompanied by her primary physician, who was constantly at her side.
This young adolescent was devopmentally deficient, and fell very ill. She was intubated on a ventilator at time of admission.
She had in place advanced directives for no resuscitation.
Her primary ordered her to be extubated, which was not out of the norm itself - but he also ordered 10mg of morphine to be administered at ex tubation.
I gave it, not suspecting anything nefarious. After ex tubation, the girl continued to breath normally and her vital signs were initially stable.
After 15 minutes, the primary was getting agitated, and ordered me to give her 20 mg morphine.
I immediately called my nursing supervisor before I did anything to advise her of this "euthanistic" overdose.
It caused a number of "higher ups" to come immediately to the unit. The order was ultimately denied. I shudder to this day at the thought of any nurse overdosing a patient - despite being ordered by a physician!

He obviously was emotionally and verbally abusive and had groomed her. Prob years of manipulation, gas lighting, making her feel worthless altered the literal brain chemistry and neural pathways, which abuse absolutely does. It is so crazy. We all look at it from the viewpoint of not being abused and manipulated. I had an ex husband cheat on me, and even being educated about these things initially I went down that rabbit hole of being obsessed with repairing my marriage to a complete narcissistic loser with tiny man's syndrome to boot. Haha. I could consciously in moments where my emotions weren't high, 100 percent know he was manipulative. But the body knows and when primary love relationships are threatened it literally changes you at the cellular level. It's similar response to a starvation or fight or flight response. Behavior is not rational when we are "starving" It takes such focus, support, concentration to break free from that cycle. And amazing counselors, which ironically I found the most helpful counselors and the most supportive men within my own Mormon church leadership. They DID NOT TOLERATE any type of abuse or manipulation and my ex was absolutely kicked out of the church because he refused to cater to ME. He hurt our marriage and the demanded he either make a genuine effort to do his best to fix it. Basically they expected him to do whatever I needed him to do to restore trust. Without him meeting my demands the literally excommunicated him. This non-sense talk about misogynistic men in the Mormon church is not even on the same planet as the behavior of good Mormon men. Anyhews.... haha. I am delirious and tired. But this story is crazy!!
