So many such monsters are never caught! So horrible for the families to have no closure. But I also always wonder what went through the hearts of minds of those poor victims in their last moments, so full of horror and dread, no one should die like that. Even when they execute people for crimes, they first put them to sleep before the final kill shot.
I live in Agawam , MA on route 75 about a half mile from the retail/card shop. For years it was disturbing this case went unsolved and there was the possibility that a killer could still be in the community. It was also heartbreaking knowing her family had no closure or justice. Sad he did not get the help he needed before this heinous crime.
Also, from Agawam approximately one mile from where she was found. He vicously brutalized the poor girl. Thank God the police were meticulous in their investigation, especially in their evidence collection.
I'm very familiar with Agawam. I've actually been through most of the state of Massachusetts. When this crime was committed, I was living in Brattleboro, VT. They talked about the news, and then Unsolved Mysteries televised this case. They finally caught this guy. It's good to see that Lisa's killer was finally brought to justice.
I'm 43, and I love true crime and so does my group of friends that I hang out with. However I am not the brightest guy. I'm not stupid I just struggle sometimes. Plz be encouraged: if you are able to listen to this and have it help you hold conversations, you may be brighter than you think! It's possible that you have a learning challenge or processing challenge that has little to do with your intelligence. Unfortunately friends your age and above are known to have fallen through educational cracks and were often told they were "stupid" along the way. Unless you've had an intelligence test, there is no need to believe that. Knowing you learn better auditorally is a wonderful compensation for whatever is going on. Our brains are complex. Cheers!
The way he formats his videos with the timelines and then goes into analyzing it, is definitely unique. He left the letters for his girlfriend because he wanted to tell her about it, and he was starting to feel the pressure. He might have considered movin' out of the area to be a big shot in Allentown, Vienna or even Zanzibar, but he knew he could never prove he was an innocent man. For 25 years, he managed to adhere to his own code of silence, but don't ask me why. Finally, honesty prevailed. And so it goes.
Lol as a life long Billy Joel fan, I loved how he slipped in so many songs that you might not have noticed if you aren’t a fan of Billy Joel. But I think you might have topped him here 😂. You have listed many of my favorites. 👏🏻
I can't even imagine what it would be like to be Noelle in a relationship with a man who was capable of such a heinous act. She must have felt shock, disillusionment, disgust, and immense regret for all of the years she had wasted on him. The fact that he didn't kill again and felt remorse doesn't exonerate him of this horrendous crime. I feel bad for Lisa and her family.
Great video as usual Dr. Grande. On a separate note would you please consider making video or short about how and why such diverse types of schizophrenia can be classified as one disease.
Hello Dr Grande....nice to see you. I'm doing some catching up with you. I feel sad for the families of kidnapped/murdered love ones when the case goes cold and they pass never knowing what happened to their loved ones. Thank you for your analysis of this case. You always have such interesting views of these cases. Thank you ❤️
It's interesting how SA and homicidal fantasies can plague someone much to their torment and they are able to resist them until they meet a certain person by chance. No other woman was at risk, only that specific person. Something about this victim was enough to compel the assailant to surrender to his fantasies and act. Something specific. And then, no one after. Trippy.
Doc! You should do an episode on Don Limon, the recent remarks, the on air meltdowns, the resurfaced video, and maybe that pajama outfit or whatever outfit it was that sent people off the deep end. It seems like a target rich environment for puns about low hanging fruit and how lemons are sour and all that
Yeah he acts like a teenage girl, you ever see his response when Colbert made a joke about his suit or something? It was like "I have a great sense of humor" through the tears.

He felt the need to tell her about it, with that brief moment of honesty. Perhaps brought on by all the pressure. Only the good die young, so let’s hope Gary spends the longest time possible behind bars. Shaboom 😎
Lisa’s life was cut short. Due to the intrusive thoughts of a sick man. I’m glad he was caught and that Lisa and her family received justice though late, was served.
👋 Doc!! You're the best!! Are you close to Cleveland? I'm in great shape mentally (I mean I quite comfortable with my umm - idiosyncrasies!) - but heck I'd come get a few treatments! I think you'd be a fantastic therapist!!
Good morning, Dr. Grande! It's odd that Gary would swallow ibuprofen in an attempt to commit suicide and then check into a hospital. It's unfortunate that a man, obviously damaged goods from an early age, who had no previous criminal history snapped and gave into his darkest dreams (only once). Once was enough, and he felt guilt for the rest of his life until the police finally were able to close in on him. He gave up and was willing to pay for his crime, but that wouldn't make everything all right. Lisa is dead. Thanks for sharing.
He said outright that he was a coward. That is why he was so pathetic about his “suicide attempt”. It was just an act. He was trying to look remorseful, even though he really never was all that remorseful. He was ultimately selfish and cowardly. And while he knew it was wrong, he was weak and failed to improve himself. Pathetic excuse of a man. His foster parents failed pretty massively
These rare cases where a murderer feels remorse and ultimately confesses are interesting. With many killers there is no regret or moral compunction but in a few cases it almost seems that the killing was an aberration, a deflection from a life pathway. In this case the grief and guilt seem to be a moral revulsion for the act. I wonder about people who can teeter on such a fine fulcrum. Most of us are rooted to morality more substantially. I feel that fantasy is a strong driver for these "accidental murderers." I feel that in rare cases fantasy can be a drug of choice, that it can transform a user into a monster, in a wink. It would be interesting if Dr. Grande would explore the signs of harmless fantasy and of unhealthy fantasy.
Great Billy Joel references at the end, especially the last one (For The Longest Time)! Gary wasn't going to give up until he did not have any other reasonable choice, and I don't believe he had any intention of committing suicide. When a person doesn't seem to connect with other people, it would be easy to start to resent those around him/her.
Gary had to flee because he knew the police were Getting Closer. He told his girlfriend, im Movin' Out. FYI: these are also the names of Billy Joel songs.
This case was featured on the old Unsolved Mysteries show. Gary called a confession line and said he "struck up a friendship" with Lisa and that he killed her after an "argument" but didn't want to turn himself in because the state had the death penalty.
Wow... A murderer with empathy for his actions... A rare bird Many people have kinky fantasy but do not act upon them... the fact that he did says something. I wonder what he was thinking when he committed this act... Was it like his fantasy, or was it the fact that it wasn't that caused him not to commit another such crime. I believe he was following the case so closely afterwards was only to see if they were on to him...he may have been feeling extremely guilty too. Just the fact he stabbed this child to death says something about him... something very dark deep within
You can’t really have empathy for your actions. Even still, empathy is something you have for someone else, not yourself. I think remorse is the word you are looking for in that sentence. Also, just because someone murders another it doesn’t necessarily mean they lack empathy. That would be a characteristic of a psychopath, and while there is a higher percentage of psychopaths among people that have committed murder versus those that haven’t it’s not the case that all murderers are psychopaths. It Depends on how you analyze the data, but generally speaking a about 1% of the total population is a psychopath. Among those that have been convicted of murder the number is somewhere between. 27% and 34%. So up to 3/4ths of murderers in prison have the capacity to have empathy for others. I hope that clears it up.

There will always be an audience for these type of videos and with the way he formats these videos and with his analysis I'm glad he will continue to be successful. ❤️
We've got to be around the same age in order for me to catch all of the Billy Joel songs you threw in there lol Well done
I was talking about "in the beginning, it was said "the murder" not, "the rape and murder." Since when did rape not be included in the beginning? If it was not talked about in detail, no one would know what really happened would they? Most ĺikely not.
At least he found some Honesty but (he) Did Start The Fire.
I enjoyed those references.
Could you do your magic on the Seth Welch child murder please Todd 🙏
Love your "take" on these cases 😊🙃
An Innocent Man by Billy Joel is one of my favorite songs of all time!
