Just finished watching it. The vibe that I got at the end was that everyone is 'the watcher' to some degree. Everyone has a piece of that house they cannot let go of.. time goes on but people can not move on from it.
same. everyone's admiration on that house turned them into someone else. they felt connected to it. They just don't want someone to own the house. they felt jealous and envious towards the owner.
The fact that Unsolved made it to a Mojo video just makes me so happy. I literally just rewatched this particular episode so hearing Ryan's narration here is everything. 🙌
I think it was either neighbours that weeded out the homeowners they didn't approve of OR someone who wanted to purchase the house but couldn't afford it. personally I would have stopped reading the letters.
But The Watcher said in one of the letters that he was watched the house about 2 decades, that made me suspicious about the guy who sat up security cameras for the house owners
Yeah writing letters to themselves or others to make it more believable or perhaps even someone not in the neighborhood but probably paid someone who does or doesn't live in the neighborhood to just watch the house
I found this series hilarious rather than scary! I bust out laughing throughout! Towards the end got a bit exhausting though. I think they could have done better with the ending. Overall, it was pretty good.
@@chickemsanwich same, last night i could not tell if someone was on the toilet or not and what was real. the creators of this series perfectly captured the way these people felt.
Yes, I'm watching The Watcher. I'm on episode 2, and let me tell you how creeped out I am. It starts as a slow burn but when the family started getting the letters it really just brought this kind of dread you'd feel when realizing you're being stalked. The dramatic suspense of how the story unfolds is actually worse on the nerves than the average bloody horror flick. I keep having to take breaks every 30 minutes to calm myself down. It reminds me of a novel I read 35 yrs ago called The Entity, which was also based on a true story. This kind of horror can actually stay with you a long time. So far it's the best series on Netflix.
Imagine they simply stopped reading the letters and just ripped them up in front of the house and dropped them on the street. There you go Watcher, hope you watched that!
Just finished watching the netflix series,in my opinion it was a bad joke on the owner, jealous and obsessive people are capable of horrible things😢 including terrorising a family for no good reason
There was a similar thing that happened to someone else in another town. It turned out to be a jealous/crazy woman who wanted the house but the people got it instead. Then she harassed and threatened them the whole time. Absolutely sick.
And no one thought to install a camera in a tree facing the mailbox with another camera (with 360° view) on the roof facing the tree and the mailbox? or to install a high fence with spikes, with a hedge? That way no one would have seen the house. With mirror stickers on the windows like that the interior of a house can no longer be seen at all?
My sympathy goes to the family who was helpless due to lack of response and mentally damaged by the incidents caused by the watcher. Tho what i wanna know is are everything that happened (blood cult, shady neighbors, dying detective who framed everything to herself and underground tunnel) really did happened and discovered by the family? Or is it just something that was exaggerated by the series to make it more appealing and scary? Cause the whole Netflix series makes it look like the whole neighborhood hates the fam
I was born and raised in the town next to Westfield. This Netflix show is total fiction. The family never even lived in the house. The family received the letters while the house was being renovated. The prime suspect was the elderly neighbor's son, who lived with his mom. The police never arrested him as they did not have enough evidence. The family purchased another house in Westfield, under a LLC, so their name and address would remain private. The new homeowners have had no issues. As for the suspect, he died in a hospice center in 2020, 2 months after his 99 year old mother died and a few months after the new owners moved in. Again, the entire story line is all made up to make it more appealing and scary. For example, there is no tunnel.

@@talljohn5350 I live on a corner property too, but the front of my house kind of faces both the front of the street which has a park across the road and the side which is where the neighbour watched me, so they had a view directly of the side of my house where our drive way is and we drive in and park and also my front door as the door faced their way but the steps faced the front to the park, if that makes sense, it’s a strange design. it would've been as simple as either moving the mailbox closer to the door or put a camera directly facing the mailbox. I would honestly welcome something like this ... to a certain degree.
In the Netflix series, it’s creepy that the girl dressed as John’s daughter was never revealed as well as no one knowing one of the neighbors was harboring him
now that you mentioned it... I mean, the Theodora story was a lie after all... and honestly I thought it was Pearl, because of the pigtail, but it didn't seemed like it, even if she wore makeup, the body type wouldnt fit neither.
I live 20 minutes away from Westfield and I remember reading about the Watcher house, and just feeling so hotdamn spooked, like a really cold sensation in the pit of my stomach. Can you imagine if this was some jerk who decided to play a prank on the new family that moved in and somehow the Prank Went horribly wrong? It's not like this person would be able to show their face now and say, just kidding! I, for one, just feel so horrible for the family. Everywhere around them, the system failed miserably, and it just breaks my heart to know that they continue feeling terrorized. The ramifications of this Watcher's actions will be felt forever. If they're ever caught, they should be sentenced for the max possible time they can get.
It must be a previous owner/a relative of a previous owner who was compelled to sell the house. Now, he wants to force other owners to sell the house just like he was forced to sell
Never heard about this case. I found it interesting that the final credits at the end of the Netflix series suddenly begin to go by so fast that I had to try about 10 times to freeze frame the video on the part that says, "except for certain events and persons" everything else is fictional. That kind of diminishes the weight of the clearly legible "Based on a true story" at the beginning of episode one. Still, looking at this video, it seems that more than I would have guessed had at least some basis in fact. While the actual house is nice, the first difference I noticed between fact and fiction is that the "movie" house is three times as big and expensive looking. Despite the seemingly requisite in any Netflix series for an overdose of profanity and at least one character whose every other word is "F", the series was intriguing enough to get me to watch it to the end. Two of the most overtly "doesn't make sense" parts were: 1.) In a scenario where this family is being terrorized by The Watcher and has neighbors who sit out in lawn chairs to watch them with binoculars, they have no problem with walking around in the house at night with the lights on and the curtains (if they even had any) wide open. Maybe it should have been called "The Exhibitionists", and 2.) They discover a large tunnel system leading to their house that would likely explain how someone was getting into their house, but they never actually make the effort to follow it to see where it leads -- Ayy! Too much trouble! Anyway, thanks for posting this video to allow us to see the real deal.
I had so much confidence that this film was based off the circleville letters, or at least some of the events. Netflix should get on that story next, it would be a hit
Husband and I just binged it last weekend. Overall we enjoyed it - but we thought the last 2 episodes were chaotic (and a bit annoying). I feel the little neighborhood group of busybodies are the most likely culprits. I think much of the creepy stuff in the letters were meant as scare tactics and untrue (the ‘young blood’ stuff).
I wish they would have just stuck to the original story. The original story is much scarier than whatever Netflix tried to create. I could only get through one episode and then I had to go watch Shane and Ryan to cleanse my brain.
Absolutely. Surprising how often the real stories are more unbelievable than the ridiculousness people come up with... I'll probably skip this show because it's so far removed from the real story, transformed into just another jump-scare horror/thriller - tho I do like the cast a lot.
So much of this is BS. I live in the town and know the Woods family who never had any issues. Rumor has it the new buyers got in over their heads and couldn’t afford the mortgage and cooked up this scheme to get out of the deal. The house is still there with new owners who have had no problems till this day.
I used to live in Westfield in fact Mrs. Broaddus was my 4th-grade teacher. I remember her talking about wanting to become a writer and I have no doubt she made this up. Also, that house was supposedly like a dream house for her so it wouldn't shock me if she preemptively sent the letter to the previous owner to make it more "realistic".
@@braedanmudd2948 makes no sense to start sending letters as soon as they buy it , the realisation that they're in over their head typically takes time
I don t undestand how they can t find the person who sent the letters, I mean they made DNA tests, can see the address of the sender, or install a camera infront of the mailbox, to see who puts it in
DNA only works if the person is in the system, just like fingerprints. DNA did reveal that a woman was at least sealing the envelope, but that's all. As for a camera, in reality the letters were mailed, not placed in the box by the watcher.
I don’t understand. Who was actually that John Griff guy in the series? They said they never found the watcher but what was all that about? The tunnel? John Griff was real also? Why didn’t go back to the tunnel to examine and its ending where it leads. Lots of questions
Yeah John Graff was real and what we saw in the flashback scene was also real. It’s confirmed when Roger recognizes John at the meeting and asks about his family.
John graff could be the Watcher shizoprenic writings himself Letters and Killing His Family and He is in the excact House against them so He can actually watch and He does it in the end so most likely He is it
He's a character based on a real guy. Back in the 70s, a Westfield man named John List killed his entire family and lived under a different identity for years. The series just combined the Watcher story with the John List story even though they occurred at different locations in town.
Oh man....another Ryan Murphy creation. I have def got to watch it. He really can take creepy to a whole new level. Kinda wish he had been around to do some Stephen King stories....can you imagine?!!!
@@TheLevantine Seriously?!! Aw Man....what a disappointment. Thanks for the heads up. I hate it when I go into a movie or show with high expectations just to get a big letdown. Prob going to skip this one now.
@@chaz5229 I mean you might like it, but a true crime and fan horror it didn't make a lot of sense to me, especially that they brought john list story to the series
Anyone noticed from the Netflix show that the PI before she died of cancer claimed that she hired the the young girl & also made up the mass murder story about Jon but then her daughter later revealed that she lied about all of it just to give the family some closure. Admitting that she was never able to solve it or find out how it happened
to think that the person who wrote those creepy letters is probably watching this video and the Netflix show with a smirk on their face. Some ppl can't stand the ones that appear well to do. I think this was just a jealous person wanting to create havoc in Brannocks seemingly perfect life
@@glitterhoney No, the Graff storyline is based on the List family. John List lived in a mansion in Westfield, one which he really could not afford, and after losing his job, he murdered his entire family, including his elderly mother, wife, and three children, and then vanished. He was eventually caught 18 years later after being featured on America's Most Wanted.
@@marke2452 i am a clown! the list family is the one i meant 😅 i typed ‘man kills family and disappears’ into google because i couldn’t remember the name and it showed that name
I just finished the series and I was surprisingly addicted to finishing the whole series! It had its creepy moments, certainly kept me guessing and had no shortage of twists! Age old question, how much do you want to know about your neighbours? The acting was superb, it boasted an all star cast of course, it has numerous stars, a lot of my favs and you can feel their family desperation and fear as the series continues! The dad character was not my fav, his temper and obsessive personality made it hard to really root for him at first! the series took on racism, with the young security kid, underage sex and a video and even who in the household is able to financially take care of the family! The watcher certainly took a very sinister turn, making it seem like the unseen figure was literally out to destroy the family to get them out of the house no matter what, watch til the end to get the very best scare and see that the watcher wasn’t going anywhere! 🏠💀✉️
I would have moved my family out of tht house and made sure they were in a safe place then go back to tht house with my boys and burn it to the ground and the watcher could watch tht and no other family would have to go through tht again.
I think the Watcher provided an interesting allegory on what is going on today. Those on the right who wish to live in a romanticised past (represented by the preservation society) and those on the left who want to change and modernise (as they see it) represented by those who move in and want to make changes. Mutual dislike and distrust grows into wild paranoia to the point where everyone is watching. The house represents America.
Just finished the series ..and who's The Watcher...ALL OF THEM!!! Everyone got obsessed with the house and just wanted anyone who moved in to get out. For me and my husband everyone was The Watcher.
I would of first tried to be nice to the neighbors when I first moved in and been thoughtful and understanding when the next door neighbor was harvesting the herbs. When you move into a already developed Neighborhood especially one with elderly neighbors , try to be a little more thoughtful. I think things would of gone alot better. As far as someone watching you , you can take that good or bad. You could of written a letter back and explained to the mail carrier the circumstances and see if the Author of the letter would receive your note. I definitely would not want to give up my home I would want to try and make friends with my neighbors instead of leaving in such a traumatic way.
Does anybody understand that this is almost exactly the story of John List? List murdered his mother, wife & 3 children in Westfield on November 1971. All murdered very similar to the storyline.
To br fair to Michael Langford, if the Watcher was able to gain many info about the Broddus', they may have used the knowledge of the timing of Michael's father's death to make tge Langfords suspicious
Have they tried checking the house maybe house has something in it that the stalker is trying to keep hidden or what if he has cameras that how he knows all this. Like think about there has to be a reason why this person has has been watching house for a long time 🤔
Reminds me a lot of Amityville horror lol. Those people hot their dream home and turns into a nightmare. Bunch of people believe they made it up for movie book rights lol. Yeah watched the whole the watcher series in one sitting lol. Amazing creepy show lol.
Reminds me of Amityville as well. The dream house; the made up horror story for financial gain; the location. And, they’re both Dutch colonials…wha….!?
It was absurd to suggest buyers remorse even before those 4 years passed. If that was the case, would a letter have arrived before the house was sold to begin with?
That horizontal window on the 2nd floor drives me insane. WHY? Why isn't it placed up and down like the others? Bathroom, I'm guessing. But it annoys me so bad LOL
Just watching it on Netflix now and thinking, living in UK I never knew why US citizens have so many guns? Than you watch this or the news and my thought is - I need a gun, lol
Just have to say this.. if you find that the first two episodes of this show are boring.. I encourage you to push through it. Personally.. I watched about half of one episode and was not impressed. However.. yesterday happened to be a Friday and I was feeling bored.. so I gave it another shot. By the time I hit episode 3 I was hooked! If you are a true crime family like me you notice that the John graft character is incredibly Loosely based upon family annihilator John list.. who happened to be from Westfield New Jersey. Although they took many liberties.. the base of the character makes it quite clear that they based him off of John list. Give it a chance.. I think you will love it!
They actually did a nice job of retelling the List story. Storytellers will always change or enhance some details, but all in all, I thought they were fairly close to what actually happened.
@@marke2452 i think it was mentioned that it branched out into different pathways that led to the other homes in the neighbourhood. I don’t remember exactly. I was so confused

@@Scaminquirer Oh yes, I agree. I have mixed feelings about the tunnels. They were creepy and added to the fear that someone was getting into the house in this secret, hidden way, but I know if it were me, I would've used the tunnels to trace the origins of the watcher.
Excellent series. Recommended viewing.
Just finished wathing this series yesterday. Very disturbing
Deans wife could be the one writing the letters all along 😮
@@Dbarr311 that’s wat I told your mother about u son 😃
So happy to hear Ryan's voice..
Shane..
Buzzfeed unsolved ghoul boys.
How cute are they..
Way to go boys
I wish they would have just stuck to the original story. The original story is much scarier than whatever Netflix tried to create. I could only get through one episode and then I had to go watch Shane and Ryan to cleanse my brain.
Absolutely. Surprising how often the real stories are more unbelievable than the ridiculousness people come up with... I'll probably skip this show because it's so far removed from the real story, transformed into just another jump-scare horror/thriller - tho I do like the cast a lot.
It was an amazing series .....loved the acting ...watched the series at a stretch ....loved it❤️ !!!!!!!
That house was too expensive, too old for that price, and too big (with only 3 or even 4 kids, they didn't need 6 bedrooms).
My biggest question about the whole show is why they felt the need to say fu** so much 😂 felt off
So much of this is BS. I live in the town and know the Woods family who never had any issues. Rumor has it the new buyers got in over their heads and couldn’t afford the mortgage and cooked up this scheme to get out of the deal. The house is still there with new owners who have had no problems till this day.
Awesome info!!
@Billie King Neighbors can be hell to deal with at times especially the noisy petty ones with toooo much time on their hands!
@@braedanmudd2948 makes no sense to start sending letters as soon as they buy it , the realisation that they're in over their head typically takes time
I don t undestand how they can t find the person who sent the letters, I mean they made DNA tests, can see the address of the sender, or install a camera infront of the mailbox, to see who puts it in
Exactly! Same thoughts
Very good point lol that's the first thing I would have done
Thats literally absolutely unequivocally genius
Or the watcher can easily evade DNA prints, and can easily evade having to drop it off themselves w/o a return address, via a myriad of ways.
DNA only works if the person is in the system, just like fingerprints. DNA did reveal that a woman was at least sealing the envelope, but that's all. As for a camera, in reality the letters were mailed, not placed in the box by the watcher.
I just started to rewatched the series
Soooo installing a camera to see who drops the letters off was never a viable option?
@@stuartist they should have Said it
Oh man....another Ryan Murphy creation. I have def got to watch it. He really can take creepy to a whole new level. Kinda wish he had been around to do some Stephen King stories....can you imagine?!!!
He failed with this one, a lot of untrue events, the series is cheesy
I knew exactly what this series was based on and enjoyed watching it!
Seeing doctor grande here really makes me happy
I just finished watching the whole series...took me a good 5 hrs..eyes are hurting
This was great serie 👍🏾 scary and weird well done 👍🏾👍🏾
This could’ve easily been a 2hrs film but Ryan is so money hungry to stretch out boring episodes to create a series
No one forced you to watch it
Agreed!
i couldn't watch it after the 1st one
glad i didn't you can't get that time back
to think that the person who wrote those creepy letters is probably watching this video and the Netflix show with a smirk on their face. Some ppl can't stand the ones that appear well to do. I think this was just a jealous person wanting to create havoc in Brannocks seemingly perfect life
I love how y’all added a major spoiler right at the beginning of the video. 😂
The tunnel scene made me close my laptop’s lid so fast!!! 😭😭😭 Also, the murders were actually true.
are you thinking of the browning family murders in maryland?
@Christine Speller he's referring to the Graff murders. They are based on the List family murders, which are true, and tok place in Westfield as well.
@@marke2452 i am a clown! the list family is the one i meant 😅 i typed ‘man kills family and disappears’ into google because i couldn’t remember the name and it showed that name
also, i never knew he was caught 🧐 cheers!
John List's story is added to this Netflix series.... BUT WHY?????
I searched the address of The List house and it said it was 6 minutes away from 657 Boulevard. So maybe because of location. Kinda weird tho
@@joycebivins2256 I agree
And 1990s cases too a series of the jon benet case would be neat
I think the Watcher provided an interesting allegory on what is going on today. Those on the right who wish to live in a romanticised past (represented by the preservation society) and those on the left who want to change and modernise (as they see it) represented by those who move in and want to make changes. Mutual dislike and distrust grows into wild paranoia to the point where everyone is watching. The house represents America.
Youve been watching too much political stuff 😂
@@aussiegodx8629 just an opinion. It's a very thought provoking show. In the real show it seems obvious that the Broadduss did it themselves
Okay I have to see this now. I actually heard the story a while back I believe on the Mr Ballen channel/podcast
Just finished the series ..and who's The Watcher...ALL OF THEM!!! Everyone got obsessed with the house and just wanted anyone who moved in to get out. For me and my husband everyone was The Watcher.
I love how ryan and shane are goofballs
I would of first tried to be nice to the neighbors when I first moved in and been thoughtful and understanding when the next door neighbor was harvesting the herbs. When you move into a already developed Neighborhood especially one with elderly neighbors , try to be a little more thoughtful. I think things would of gone alot better. As far as someone watching you , you can take that good or bad. You could of written a letter back and explained to the mail carrier the circumstances and see if the Author of the letter would receive your note. I definitely would not want to give up my home I would want to try and make friends with my neighbors instead of leaving in such a traumatic way.
Now hopefully Netflix will do something with a adaptation of amanda todd case natalie halloway case or someone else from the 2000s cases
319 omg that Tiktok green screen 😂😂😂
Does anybody understand that this is almost exactly the story of John List? List murdered his mother, wife & 3 children in Westfield on November 1971. All murdered very similar to the storyline.
yes i believe it has to be connected to that since the name is John in the series too and happened in Westfield
1:30 that voice 😂
To br fair to Michael Langford, if the Watcher was able to gain many info about the Broddus', they may have used the knowledge of the timing of Michael's father's death to make tge Langfords suspicious
I didn’t think I was going to like it but it’s awesome. For it’s all of them that are the perpetuators
Have they tried checking the house maybe house has something in it that the stalker is trying to keep hidden or what if he has cameras that how he knows all this. Like think about there has to be a reason why this person has has been watching house for a long time 🤔
Marisa Tomei 🔛 Keanu Reeves
Reminds me a lot of Amityville horror lol. Those people hot their dream home and turns into a nightmare. Bunch of people believe they made it up for movie book rights lol. Yeah watched the whole the watcher series in one sitting lol. Amazing creepy show lol.
Reminds me of Amityville as well. The dream house; the made up horror story for financial gain; the location. And, they’re both Dutch colonials…wha….!?
Mojo forgot to mention the voice of the Watcher reading the letters was the actual voice of The Watcher.
I remember Dr Grande talked about this case.
Edit. I wrote my comment before seeing the Dr Grande clip. 😂
I’ve had worse neighbors. I had a neighbor that did meth and threatened to beat me with her brass knuckles.
Rich people ??? They get a couple letters and lose their minds . Try living in Trenton , Camden or Newark . 😎
Just watching it on Netflix now and thinking, living in UK I never knew why US citizens have so many guns? Than you watch this or the news and my thought is - I need a gun, lol
The house should be burnt down 😂👏👏👏would really piss off the watcher 😂
I’d build a six ft wall around my property, with mounted cameras on top. Along with a sign that read, Trespassers will be Shot.
Ryan Murphy is watching
Love this movie 🍿
At this point the internet has to solve this case!
Amazing yet thrilling to see naomi watts
If you knew the price of house in Sydney….I would move in the house and a 100 watcher could do what ever I would never move out
LMAOO literally
"would you live in the watcher house?"
There's nobody a 12 gauge can't stop bud... 😁
right LMAoOO
Just watched the Netflix show and dang
The conclusion was kinda ludicrous 😂 But I did enjoy the series.
right!
Love the house but you know it's all about location, location, location
whats wrong with the location
In the series , the tunnels were the scary part
It was also a frustrating aspect to the story. Just follow the tunnels and see where they lead.
@@marke2452 i think it was mentioned that it branched out into different pathways that led to the other homes in the neighbourhood. I don’t remember exactly. I was so confused
@@Scaminquirer All they mentioned were that the tunnels were a giant maze. He could've hired a team of guys to go through and find where they lead. We know at least one tunnel lead to Mia Farrow's house.
@@marke2452 hmm. Oh well. The actual event was an unsolved mystery. So they probably wanted to keep it that way
@@Scaminquirer Oh yes, I agree. I have mixed feelings about the tunnels. They were creepy and added to the fear that someone was getting into the house in this secret, hidden way, but I know if it were me, I would've used the tunnels to trace the origins of the watcher. I really loved when the hooded figure appeared from underneath the stairs at the end. That actually gave me chills.
