For those interested, my family has lived is Westfield for years. It’s a very safe and wealthy suburban town, but there are alot of old-Victorian style homes that have been occupied for years some of which were passed down and are now home to elder recluses who dislike the “yuppy” types moving into town. Developers try and purchase this Victorian era homes to build more modern houses but these lifers refuse to sell. We are friends with many in the town government and the police chief has said they believe it was one of these old reclusive residents, probably living in a family home, who decided to mess with the new home owners.
I still think Langford wrote the letters while someone else in the neighborhood was getting them to the post office separately. Who’s going to suspect someone holding a letter? It’s a very plain and seemingly normal thing to do.
This one will probably end with Ryan and Shane getting letters from the watcher and them not even noticing because it just blends in with the rest of the Buzzfeed Unsolved fan mail.
After seeing the new Netflix show I can say it wasn’t as scary as it would’ve been if I hadn’t watched this back in the day. Since I knew the real story it was weird to see the difference.
Since moving to Korea, I heard of two unsolved cases that have really captured my interest. One is the Frog Boys in 1991 5 boys went frog hunting in the mountains and never came home. In 2002 their bodies were found in the previously heavily searched mountainside and the statute of limitations for their murder has since run out in 2006. A lot of other suspicious things too. The other one is the Hwaseong serial murders. Outside Seoul took place between 86-91. There are 10 deaths associated with the case, and some evidence, but has never been solved.
@@emilyb.8219 There isn't one in the U.S., and according to Wikipedia (not the most reliable source I know but I was too lazy to look further) there is no longer one in South Korea as of 2015. Don't know why it was different before, it seems wrong to put a statute of limitations on murder at all. What do you even say to the victims' families then? Like, "We know exactly who killed your loved one but because it took too long to figure out we can't do anything about it. Sorry". That just seems fucked up. Imo, if someone is killed the person who did it deserves to be punished no matter how long it's been.

That also explains the old-fashioned writing style. Honestly makes the most sense
I still think Langford wrote the letters while someone else in the neighborhood was getting them to the post office separately. Who’s going to suspect someone holding a letter? It’s a very plain and seemingly normal thing to do.

Oh, wow. Ones involving kids sadden me, especially when they are unsolved :(
Why on earth is there a statute of limitations for murder??
Nathalie Carrillo they’ve done Jack the Ripper which is a London based crime and I believe they did another one over seas. But hey ya never know.
