- Here is the second product review and I am doing another video on the brand Supergoop! This time, I am commenting on their mineral based sunscreen that blurs out pores, is water and sweat resistant at 40 minutes and is non-comedogenic.
Quick notes:
-I appreciate mineral ingredients (titanium dioxide and zinc oxide)
-use sunscreens with SPF 30 and above (this one is SPF 40)
-I like a sunscreen that does not run into your eyes when exercising (this one does not)
-matte finish where you do not have a shiny face after application (especially good for those with oily skin)
gentle for sensitive skin this one has no scent and does not clog pores
-blends in well for skin type III (which is my skin type, I am able to tan easily)
-this sunscreen lacks extra goodies/ingredients like niacinamide or antioxidants. The sunscreens with these nice ingredients are:
EltaMD UV Clear which has niacinamide in it which is anti-inflammatory amzn.to/2VEXO4C (tinted) or amzn.to/2NQSg2L (non-tinted)
La Roche-Posay Anthelios 50 amzn.to/31CGPDW (tinted, antioxidants), amzn.to/38rZljF (non-tinted)
another con: affordability if you use enough sunscreen and apply it frequently, you will go through this $38 tube very quickly!
-Use this sunscreen for face and considering pairing with UV Aero (zinc based spray on option) amzn.to/3fzvOro for your body/arms.

Thanks for the review! I'm personally okay with them not adding antioxidants or niacinamide in sunscreens because I have sensitive skin, and that stuff can be in the serum.
SunBum makes one just like this for a lot cheaper. It’s tinted just like this, and is a mineral sunscreen. It feels like a mousse. I used SunBum first then found this in Ulta. I tried the tester, and it’s the exact same as the SunBum one.
Which one by sun bum?

I got this for my best friend, who has oily skin to get him to use great sunscreen! He loves it and the tint blends/fades on his olive skin

i agree i have a bunch of small comedones when i use niacinamide products too im glad they don’t have it

@@iriskeniafernandez good but in moderation. percentage from 2%-5% is deemed safe, however, there have been reported cases of breakouts and purging from it online

Mattescreen does seem to have antioxidants in it according to their website. Might be a newer formula.
I love this for my oily skin, it keeps me matte all day

Hello, i use vitamin C every morning, can i use together with this sunscreen since you said the sunscreen has niacinemine? I heard that vitamin c and niacinemine not good to go together?
Can I use Mattescreen as a sunscreen, or is this more of a primer with SPF? I’ve read that makeup or other skincare products with SPF like foundation with SPF, moisturizer with SPF, etc. don’t always provide the stated protection because people don’t generally apply enough. For this reason I’ve been using only straight sunscreen products. My question is: Is it okay to use Mattescreen as a sunscreen as long as I am applying the correct amount, and get the stated SPF 40 protection?
Thanks for the review. I just bought this sunscreen after looking for a mineral sunscreen w/o white cast for a long time. I like it so far, but the price is quite high and there's not much product. I wish they would lower the cost.
That’s not likely to happen, I do wish there was something similar in the drugstore. I’m using a mineral sunscreen that I add liquid bronzer to in order to cover the white cast.

We want a good sunscreen (we all use Niacinamide in another skincare product) so i dont agree that niacimide or other actives should be included

I know I am viewing this video a little late but do antioxidants in mineral sunscreens even make a difference considering that mineral sunscreens sit on your face instead of being absorbed like sunscreens with organic filters ?
Yeah Me Too! Hi dr Daniel! I wanted to ask is it possible to get rid of a really bad tan I accumulated over about 8 years? I had a really fair skin tone until I was about 13 but after I started doing sports under the sun without ANY sun protection I started to tan really badly! At first I really loved the glowy tan and would deliberately spend more time under the sun to get tanner. But for the past 2 years I've been noticing that my glowy tanned skin has started to look really damaged and uneven! I look like I have sunspots all over my forehead and cheeks :"( Its way better now due to staying home for the past few months tho! My chest area / area below my collarbone which wasnt exposed is about 5-6 shades lighter than my neck and face! All the areas that were not exposed are visibly lighter than the areas that were constantly exposed to the sun such as my legs and arms! I've already decided to start putting on spf when I go out! Is there any way I can get my original skintone i was born with back? specially my face and neck :"( Or is it something too permanent to fix? I do get lighter when I stay home and dont go under the sun but it doesnt go back to my original skin tone, still looks way darker and damaged ;"( So it feels like I can only prevent further damage by wearing spf but can never get my original skin tone back, which is a bit upsetting :"(

Hello, great video! I use this matte sunscreen and put the Ordinary’s Niacinamide 10% zinc 1% before moisturizer and sunscreen. Is that okay/enough for the antioxidants you mentioned?
Are Korean & Japanese sunscreens that use the PA ++++ system as effective as mineral sunscreens? Are they considered chemical sunscreens?
Hey! Spf let’s you know about UVB rays and PA++++ is about UVA protection (uvb= burns and uva=aging and tan). In Korea, they use the pa++++ system and in the USA they say “broad spectrum”. Both essentially mean the same thing xx

Thanks for this review. I'm curious about your top recommendation for sunscreen to keep in the car for application throughout the day. The supergoop matte is appealing to me because I don't want to have greasy looking skin, but the price point to size ratio is what gets me too. I'm willing to invest in a quality product, but I would hope to get more bang for my buck!
Whitney Stewart well said! I really like having la Roche-Posay anthelios 50 tinted or non in the car. It is over $30 like Supergoop! But at least it has antioxidants (not in Matte screen) and is all Mineral while blending in well. I also think Supergoop! invisible setting power is good to keep in the car to apply over makeup! Lmk what you think about these. I’m going to purchase DRMTLGY clear spf 45 soon and do a review on that and see if that is an affordable option that rubs in well. How do you layer this? I find most mouse like sunscreens ball up on top of other products like a serum and or moisturizer.
Victoria Yeager what I did this morning (going from thinnest to thickest): cleanse, serum, moisturizer and then this sunscreen- rubbed in well over all that. No balling up but I know what you mean. I can’t comment on how well sunscreen goes on over this but I’m sure it does well as a primer since it blends in well.
