How necessary is do a double cleanse? Pop culture doesn’t stop talking about it but I’m not sure how necessary it is to have a oil cleaner before a regular cleanser. Thank you! Great content!!
Thank you for saying that and thanks for watching! EXCELLENT question! You’re right- double cleansing is the hype right now and I only think it’s worth doing for makeup and water resistant sunscreen although I have done okay without double cleansing and just using water based cleanser alone for removing water resistant (80min grade) sunscreen. I should do a video on double cleansing and if it’s truly necessary. Take care! 🤙🤙🤙
Hey thanks so much for appreciating it! It definitely required research 😂but so worth it to counsel my patients. Thanks for watching and take care! 🤙🙏🏼
Hi Dr Sugai! Love watching your videos! And I also like your personality. By the way, what is your opinion about the UV filters they have in Europe? Like Mexoryl, Tinosorb, and Uvinul? Thanks. Keep uploading more videos 😇
Noctowl123 hi! Thanks so much for the comment and for watching. I admit that I am not familiar with those chemical ingredients but I have heard good things about Mexoryl. I did a quick literature search and saw that this ingredient is only systemically absorbed through the skin at negligible levels and thus deemed very safe. That’s a huge thumbs up from my point of view! The others you mentioned appear to be safe. Thank you again and take care 🙏🏼🙏🏼🤙🤙
@@danielsugaimd hi Dr Sugai! Thank you for getting back to me! I have been using a sunscreen with Mexoryl before but the high denatured alcohol content of that sunscreen just made my skin drier and more sensitized. No pressure whatsoever, but would you consider reviewing some European/Asian sunscreens in the future? I have heard that some people here including some dermatologists are buying sunscreens from them online or whenever they visited these countries. I have ordered some from Amazon UK, which claims to have SPF50+ UVAPF50+, and remains stable for up to 10h (3hr when swimming), which is set to arrive between Jul 9-10. incidecoder.com/products/riemann-p20-kids-sun-cream-spf50-uvapf-50 www.amazon.co.uk/P20-Protection-Resistant-Suitable-children/dp/B083M2RBFS/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=p20+spf50%2B+kids&qid=1593802968&sr=8-3 Sorry for the lengthy post Sir. I just love sunscreens! I hope you and your family are safe during this turbulent time. God bless!
I used an uv camera powder sunblock really do provide protection for reapplication. Note that it is only good for reapplication. Using it alone I don't think it work. Best apply with lotion.
Hi I love this to reapply sunscreen. But I found this only last me a month or less because I tap so many times to apply on different parts of the face when using this supergoop powder sunscreen. I wonder if one or two tapping of this powder is enough for the whole face to make it last longer.
Gunn Tanzil it appeared from our standpoint that just 1-2 taps was enough to spread the powder around for the face. Thanks for the comment and glad you are reapplying! Take care and thanks for watching!
Hi Rachel, I am comfortable recommending it. What we know so far is that they are not dangerous but we need to keep in mind that medical knowledge is always changing. That being said, if I were to prefer one over the other for my kids, I would go with mineral. I still use chemical sunscreens and will continue to review them on this channel. Thanks for asking.
Just found your channel. Love your knowledge and style, thank you so much :) I have always thought these powders would be a great idea but then I hear about certain sunscreen ingredients cancelling each other out... including Zinc Oxide! (weakening some other ingredients) I saw your answer to another commenter and I guess from that sticking to Physical would be best- but I REALLY care about UVA protection and worry about physical sunscreen not being enough. What would you suggest? -- layering anyway , or -- stick to purely physical despite my UVA worries? THANK YOU SO MUCH
I feel though that we sweat throughout the day. Therefore, if we apply the super goop powder over our spf foundation may cause our skin to break out. This doesn't clog pores doing so?
Just came across this. I definitely am going to try the Supergoop, for I continually have trouble with the Color Science setting powder getting out the product.
kloujiko thanks so much for watching and for the great question! I would say that this would be fine to layer over other sunscreen and makeup especially if the underlying sunscreen is a physical blocker (only with zinc and or titanium ingredients). You’re right that mixing chemical sunscreens can get tricky as some are formulated to make others more stable but I have seen that people can get pretty significant reactions when certain chemical mixtures react after exposure to sunlight (some more labile in sunlight than others).
Dr. Daniel Sugai thanks for your reply!! That’s helpful to know :) So it sounds like mixing chemical sunscreens can be dangerous, but physical sunscreens are ok! What about layering this product over a sunscreen that is both chemical and physical? That should be ok right?
kloujiko should be fine but can never be certain with mixing products especially with those with sensitive skin. I think the invisible powder is so neutral, it should most likely be fine.
Does the supergoop have enough iron oxide to help with blue light I wonder? The ingredients list may contain iron oxides +/- (list the type of iron oxides) so I don't know if it means it has it or depends on the color you get...:/
Perfect solution to reapplying over makeup! Nice filming with ya doc 👍🏻
mika mika excellent work! You need to keep doing guest appearances!
Love this video! I can't believe there's a setting powder with SPF! Also, good job Mika!! :)
Lauren Sugai thank you so much for watching!
Actually a few brands have this type.

Can you do a review on Colorscience SPF Powder as well and which one you think is better?
This was so helpful! Thank you for doing your research to help us makeup wearers! Lol

I really don't wear make up. Only when there's occasion. Can i still use this bare face? For everyday use?
Hi Dr. Sugai! Why do you think many derms are also comfortable recommending chemical sunscreens? Just curious!

You mentioned "skin type III" a few times in this video...do you have a video explaining the different skin types?! Thanks so much!

I second this
Thank you Mika for the demo.

im torn ...dr michelle and dr dray dont recommend powder sunscreen and say it is not reliable:(
I think it's a good product to use when you're out, to freshen.

That setting powder looks like a great idea! Good job Mika!

Hi! Is tinted moisturizer with sunscreen good for initial protection? Or should you do moisturizer without sunscreen and then a seperate sunscreen?
Thanks so much for this video! I heard that it’s bad to mix sunscreens so is it ok to use this over other sunscreens with make up in between?

I use the powder just to make me not look like a glazed bough nut after putting on a mineral sunscreen.
Wow... I want it 🧐😊
