Tbh I think the agreement between Gunn & Reeve should be to have Batman apart of the DCU. Matt Reeve should solely be responsible for Batman because he’s been telling a great story for him so far. Two things could exist, Reeve could be responsible for when Batman is not around the justice and when it’s time for him to come back to the justice league that’s when Gunn universe takes over. That way Reeve can still have his universe because Gotham will always need Batman. The politics & crime is too strong in Gotham. You can also have Superman, Wonder Woman, etc send messages to Bruce when he’s not around setting up for the big team up.

The shared universe concept is meaningless. I enjoy Pattinson as Batman, and look forward to Corenswet as Superman. Assuming both movies strike very different tones, I'd still like to see them cross over someday in a movie. I won't worry about the tones of previous movies. Who cares?

This is not at all what has happened. But because Matt Reeves' answer to the reporter's question wasn't "absolutely not," Snyder Bros have decided that Gunn is merging. Reeves merely responded as he should have, while telling the reporter that he has a surprise villain for _The Batman 2._ It remains highly unlikely that it would ever happen because it makes no sense on any level.
1) The "Batman alone" mood that Matt Reeves has established is at odds with a shared universe where flying dogs and teenage sidekicks exist. Gunn's Batman will look nothing like _The Batman_ or _The Penguin._
2) And WBD would not sacrifice the financial gains of what Matt Reeves is building by wrecking it. There is more financial gain with Matt Reeves and James Gunn working two separate worlds. Of all the DC arsenal, WB knows that Batman sells. There is an animated show. Matt Reeves has Batman established. And Gunn will establish another for the DCU.
