  • In this video, I will show you how to replace the PCV valve on an OM642 engine in a 2010 Mercedes S350 CDI. This is a very simple procedure but will save you from many troubles. The part is a very simple part that is composed of a rubber diaphragm and a spring inside. Over time the rubber vulcanizes and loses elasticity. Replacing it will reduce the black smog and oil-burning issues.

I watched these video and I replaced the PCV valve. Before I replaced it my car was using 2 quarts of oil every 2 weeks. After I replaced no oil usage at all. 0 thanks for these videos

Great video again, subscribed and hope to see more content on the OM642 engine. About the updated version of the PCV it may be of a better design but the red seal which goes to the intake is now incorporated within the PCV valve hose. This means that in the future when the seals's gooves wear out you cannot replace it separately as in the old design but you may have to replace the entire assembly again. That is why in my W164 I did not replace the PCV with a genuine one but one from Vaico and oil in the intake has been minimal which is normal in this engine.

My recommendation is DO THIS NOW !! on your OM642. It's an easy change and will protect against oil leaks destroying the Swirl valve controller. I Change mine every 20k miles.

There should be a service interval for this pcv valve, I had mine changed and it stopped the oily smells entering the cabin.

It is almost nessesary to check out the part attached to the crankcase. If the seal inside of if it is used then replacing PCV might not be enough. The part below is even more important as it is the main reason why oil is sucked to the turbo intake. If the seal of the part that pcv is attached to is used, it will also cause PCV rubber to be damaged again if the engine crankcase preassure is already too high in used engines due to lower compression or other issues.

On an OM642 DIESEL this is a oil/air separator.

Wrong! If oil is being consumed than it means piston rings are stuck. PCV cannot fix it.

J’espère que sur ma e350 cdi consommation d’huile vient de pcv sinon si les segments je suis mort😢

nope, turbo bearings, or PCV breather valve also can cause oil consumption. My car has the intake oily and the PCV valve oily were it shouldn't be. Stuck pistons aren't the only reason
