I can vouch for the need to choose a proper test-drive environment for the FR-S and BRZ. I used to sell cars for a Toyota and Scion dealership and I sold triple the number of FR-S' in my span of time there than the next-best seller of that car. Most of my co-workers chalked it up to me being young and a car enthusiast, therefore better syncing me with the primary demographic of the car. While that's partially correct, the real trick I used was a different test drive route. Every other car, you drive out of the dealership, through town to the highway, ride that for a few miles, then cut back through some suburbs back to the dealership. That's fine for a Camry or Rav4, but it's antithetical to the purpose of an FR-S. Instead, I took customers for a short jaunt through town before cutting back to a mountain road that I used to live on. It's extremely twisty, very technical, with lots of corners of varying severity and character linked together with plenty of elevation changes in between. You drive it for about 4 miles, then there's a turnaround spot. I'd drive the first leg of the trip, since I knew the road like the back of my hand, and would use that time to really show the customer what the car can do in the proper environment. Without fail, whenever we reached the turnout spot for us to switch, they'd always be grinning ear to ear and holding onto the armrest with a deathgrip, before looking over at me and saying "So...my turn, right?" Obviously they always went slower than me on the way back, but neveretheless I encouraged them to have some fun with it, within limits of reason and skill. Before I left the dealership, I told the route for the test drive to another salesperson that I'd become good friends with during my time there. I told him to take a few weeks driving it by himself to properly learn it, as well as giving him from proper pointers on particular corners. A few months after that, he'd taken the spot as the top FR-S seller in the dealership, though he still hasn't quite matched my numbers, haha.
I like this review! The authors know what critical points to discuss and articulate them very well. I felt better informed about these cars after watching this video.
+davidkosa - Thanks, we're very glad you enjoyed it and our style works for you. Lots more in our back catalog and on the way every Thursday. Very pleased to have you with us!
8 years later after this video. I have bought me a BrZ. I made this decision after owning WrX. I am happy to say that I bought the car that I love, fits perfectly in my lifestyle and 8 mile commute. I love its simplicity. Just an engine, steering wheel, shifter and 3 pedals. My happy place. This video was awesome and reassuring. Thanks guys
yea the brz could do with more power, a turbo etc etc, fkin etc, but dont forget that the big thing about the brz is that it was about making a statement; forget about more grip, more power, more this, more that... lets remind manufacturers to concentrate on the fun, not the more, more, more. its what makes the car interesting (plus its an unbelievably good track tuning base)
youre right, its not ridiculous to ask and honestly i wish it had that power but if it had that much it would no longer be the "affordable" rwd sports car
so, ive owned my frs for a year now. I just bought, for my wife, a 2015 wrx! I have both cars in my driveway its like the red light district. Honestly, having both and driving both I can honestly say that I tend to lean towards my FRS more than the WRX. Each have their own special traits. The WRX is so much more practical. its much more powerful, ez to go go go but man. My FRS is just more fun. That low center of gravity, that engine that you have to rev the piss out of to get the power. Its work, its a challenge and that makes it fun
Depends where you live. If it's mostly flat straight roads, WRX no question. I couldn't imagine using a BRZ for several hours on the highway. I'm not in my 20s anymore.
The BRZ/FR-S is the modern remake of the AE86. It doesn't NEED that high power to be a fun car, that's the beauty of it :) This video just proves that it stayed true to it's predecessor
I had a 2011 WRX Limited, and now own a 2013 BRZ Limited (both manuals). I just placed an order on a 2015 WRX Limited (w/short throw kit). So... here are my opinions on the matter. AWESOME video. I agree almost completely. BRZ felt so sharp compared to the last gen WRX that I ignored the lack of power. It took me a good month before that wore off and I started to get frustrated with the lack of power. Had I come from a slower car (like my college honda accord 4cyl), I probably wouldn't have a single complaint. But coming from the 2011 wrx and its brutal acceleration.... the BRZ gets boring when you don't have curvy roads to carve. Besides the lack of power, I really honestly have no complaints. The new 2015 WRX. Awesome car. Test drove a premium the day I placed my custom order. First thing I noticed, pedal delay. Even with the twin scroll, that turbo lag is apparent. It's very tiny and spools stupid fast, but you lack the instant response of a NA car. Had I never driven the BRZ, this would not even be mentioned because the old gen WRX had terrible turbo lag. But really, that new motor is excellent. You nail the pedal and that snail spools quick to deliver you that wall of torque. It felt much quicker to me than the old wrx and it greatly gained drive-ability. One point that I disagree on is the part of the video where you said the WRX has body roll. I took the WRX around some tight clover ramps and there was zero body roll. Maybe the high seating position made you feel like it was rolling, but i assure you, it wasn't. Even subaru stated it has the same amount of body roll as the BRZ. If they offered the FA20DIT motor in the BRZ as an optional engine... man... I would be having some serious decision making to do. But with the weak straight line performance and the lack of curvy mountain roads in the midwest where I live, the WRX is the better choice for me. The new WRX felt like a high seating position and slightly heavier BRZ that has balls-out acceleration. Can't beat that! (unless they release a turbo BRZ... )
This comparison can also go to the second Porsche problem, the cayman is way more expensive than the Mecan. And the Subaru is even worst if you think that Suburu joined Toyota just to make it less expensive and still is more expensive than a WRX which is more "high-end" I mean, has better materials and a better engine. SMH
I owned the 2013 BRZ after owning a 2007 WRX, I couldn't wait to trade in the BRZ for the 2015 WRX. Best decision i have ever made just wish it was a hatch.
Yup I can see why. Better driveability with new WRX engine. I drove a forester xt with the new twin scroll engine. Wow its a blast. Zero lag compared to my 2011. I wish they had a hatch then maybe I'd look into trading up. BRING BACK THE WAGON!!
This man knows what's up. I've also driven both (not owned either of them, but I did give them both a good twisty road blast) and short of the high seating position and the 6-speed manual's shift quality (also have driven a Premium with the Lineartronic, and EverydayDriver I urge you not to diss it until you try it!) the WRX feels every bit as good to fang around as the BRZ does. And also in agreement re: body roll, it's incredibly well-controlled. It was, however, less comfortable (due to the significant increase in rigidity) than the GE WRX RS40 I drove a fair while ago. And there's no excuses for the seats in regards to the GE either because that had STi Recaros which you could practically live in. Not that it matters because the GJ WRX wipes the floor with the old GE in pretty much every other respect, but it is worth noting. If I was actually going to spend the cash on either it would definitely be the WRX, it's essentially a sedan BRZ with significantly more punch and who the hell wouldn't want that? But, because I'm a poor bastard I'll be sticking with my GC8 WRX for a while yet :)
As someone who has been waiting to buy the 15 WRX for over a year now, this is my favourite video on UA-cam. You guys do an absolutely phenomenal job showing the pros and cons. I watch this 'episode' at least twice a week. Terrific job guys . Next week I'm putting down my deposit for the '15 WRX. Can't wait!!
Wow - that's a huge compliment, thank you! We're very pleased you like our work and hope you'll pass us along to others. Enjoy your WRX, we're a bit jealous!
I hated the 2015 WRX when I first saw it but it has REALLY grown on me since then. I was saving up for a 2014 Evo X but I will be purchasing a 2015 WRX instead.
When it was first released, I too thought the WRX looked very plain and underwhelming. Five years later I now love the body style. It unexpectedly grew on me. Now I own a 2019 STI.
Ditto. I hated it (WRX) when it came out. My buddy replaced his 09 with the 2015. Today, I love it. I drive it at least twice a month. Since he has the WRX, I may get the BRZ.
This review is the reason I ended up buying a 2015 WRX 2 years ago, and I've been happy with that decision ever since! Thank you guys for pointing me in the right direction, it's been a great car to explore backroads with, and it got me to college this year!
I own a BRZ and I will say that everything about the car is GREAT, except for the power. Fuel Economy, Insurance Rates, Aesthetics, and Handling are second to none in it's sub $30k market. With this said, I haven't driven the latest 2015 WRX yet. After about over a year and 6 months of ownership of the BRZ, I can attest that I do want something more practical (wished Subaru continued to make the Hatch for the WRX), but the fuel economy and overall drive- ability of the car is what's preventing me from trading it in for the WRX. Perhaps when the STi's decade old EJ motor is replaced with the new FA Motor, then I'll either trade or buy another Subaru. For a daily commuter, like myself, the BRZ is plenty for the wallet. I average around 30 mpg, driving 40% city and 60% highway.
I am with you on that. I don't even know if it truly needs that much more power just more push on the top end. I wish the BRZ sounded like the WRX!! I have averaged 32 mpg from new. I have been completely shocked by the mileage. Especially with the short gearing. As long as you stay under 80 mph 35 mpg is easy on the highway. Go to the dealer and do the FREE Navigation upgrade. New firmware, antenna and maps. Works 100% better.
In a BRZ, yes you do lol. Most people buy the car as either a DD (like myself) or for the track. When I say DD, I also include and imply spirited driving.
I'm in the same boat. I've got an 05 STI. Selling it because we don't need three cars and the BRZ's fuel economy and general daily driver amenities are better. If they release a good looking hatch STI with a decent fuel economy, I might trade up.
First hand experience about the car's handling. I was driving my MY 18 BRZ on a snowy day and an elderly driver cuts me off in his truck. I was next to the road barrier and thought for sure I was going to hit it head on after turning the wheels in a panic to avoid hitting him. The car's stability control saved me from hitting the barrier in an instant. The Blizzacs did help too though.
BRZ doesn't need a turbo. Just 500cc more displacement. Way more in tune with the car's character, and it wouldn't add any weight. Kind of a no brainer and a real head scratcher as far as why they didn't do that from the get go.
The 2.0 is a tad slow to rev. It is 10 times better that any other N/A Subaru Boxer ever made in that light. A 2.5 would need better cooling, a larger gas tank, brakes and would throw off the weight distribution. Not only that the already middling 22/30 mileage rating would take a hit. Taller gearing could be used, that would bring acceleration back down to the 2.0. At best there would be a 25% increase in torque with only a slight increase in HP. The 2.0 was the best compromise.
An increase in displacement would not require changing anything. Plenty of cars use 1 engine block with different displacements, and the same brakes/cooling/gas tank. Case in point, old BMWs with the NA 6s. The 2.0s had all the same stuff as the 2.5s and the engines weighed the same too. It was the same engine with a smaller crank and slightly smaller pistons. Smaller engines are better to a point... below that point you wind up using too much throttle and wasting gas. And in any case I think folks would be willing to lose a little gas mileage for a better torque curve... this is a sports car, not a Prius. Aside from gas mileage nothing would be lost by going up to 2.5L, and they could make the 2.5L a short stroke engine so it would rev faster.
future62 BMWs like Mustangs and Camaro's are desighed from the top down. Hance the small weight difference between lower and higher power cars. The FRS/BRZ are purpose built cars. Subaru must upgrage all the compnents to add more power. The WRX weighs 400 pounds more than the Imprezza it is based on. 2.0 was the best compromise. Name one Japanese 4cy coupe that got better with an displacement increase.
Thanks guys, love your videos and your podcast. I ordered a '17 brz and I'm very much looking forward to it. You've helped me make an informed decision.
You guys do an absolutely tremendous job at car reviews. I just got a 2015 WRX about a month ago. The opinions you two offer are spot on! I love the new WRX its an excellent car! Keep up the great work guys!
I have a job where I have to drive in crazy weather conditions in Canada year round. Because of this the wrx is the greatest choice for me thanks to AWD and good torque along with being fun on long drives
Love the brz/frs/86 . Beautiful car with great steering feel , so well balance and low center of gravity just a super fun car to drive. And yes , the back seats are practical.
I bought an 86 and I wonder if I should have got the WRX or a Gen coupe instead. Also I feel like if I didn't buy the 86 I would have regretted not doing so. The strange thing is that its not fast but it just does not matter to me for some reason. Most fun I've ever had in any of my cars and I have had a lot more faster cars.
Brz and wrx, wish I could have both because Brz looks better and more fun to drive but THE wrx is a lot more practical and powerful. Plus I don't know why people hate but I love the new Gen wrx
Bought a BRZ after visiting my local Subie dealer. The BRZ was built to be a sportscar, and you can tell when comparing it to the WRX. However, I don't live in snow, don't care for the extra power (most people don't feel that way!), and it is my third vehicle, so it is really my "fun car". I think for most people who need a daily driver, the WRX is going to be the superior vehicle. It just doesn't make me feel at one with the car like the BRZ does. Like the guys said though - what a time we live in to have two such wonderful cars at this price point!
I like the front end, but the rest of the car is very unappealing to me. Particularly the back end. It also looks very tall, which helps with visibility but not with sexiness :(
I like how it looks from angles, but straight from the front looks kind of pinched and from the back looks really plain. Oh well, I'm getting one anyway lol.
I think the frs/brz are totally fine when they are not on super crazy curvy roads. I feel like you guys totally made a huge deal about that. It feels completely fine, and would probably prefer to sit in traffic with this car than any other boring car.
I agree with you and love commuting with my BRZ. But... I can see why someone might not like the quick steering on a long road trip, or the loudness/rough ride on an everyday basis. It appeals to the Lotus-lover in me, as brought up in the video... but not everyone wants to or can deal with a Lotus-like car every day. Fortunately, I'm happy to, and I do think I'm much happier sitting in traffic or going down a straight road with a car that's being communicative even then by being rough and unrefined. It only gets better when you do get on a road where you can have even more fun!
I enjoy driving mine day to day also. I have gone on many 500+ mile trips. I often turn off the radio and just enjoy the drive. Going to The WALL SPEEDWAY in Jersey this weekend. That is a 450 mile round trip. 200 miles of back roads.
Awesome review, guys!! The editing and the back and forth viewpoints between Paul and Todd are one of the best on UA-cam. Always look forward to your next show. 👍
+ExPeRiA gaming - Quite a few people are driving the FRS/BRZ in the snow. Including us - as Todd is using our Long-Term FR-S in the winter in Utah. As we discuss on our Podcast, while AWD can be helpful, winter capability often comes down to proper tires instead of specific drive-wheels. The existence of snow doesn't instantly make the WRX a better car. Thanks for watching and commenting!
+ExPeRiA gaming - I drift in mine in the winter here in Montreal. Find some quiet roads and I drift with my friends. I prefer the way RWD handles in the snow, but that's probably because I'm used to it. Friends have a WRX (2005) and they prefer it, but my FRS feels like an extension of myself when I drive.
+EverydayDriver ya ok! better tires may help in the snow but you first need awd/4wd. Ill try telling that to my friends here in NY that all i need is a 2 wheel drive vehicle with better tires. lol
For me, yes it was. New BRZ to sit in the garage besides a once or twice per year road trip to mountains. A thoroughly beat to hell wrong wheel drive thousand dollar car to commute in/rust away in salt. I don't see a reason to take a nice car on lame roads.
I own a BRZ and its coming up close 2 years. I want a WRX too, but I am not getting rid of the BRZ. After sitting in other cars, I always think and miss driving the BRZ, it is amazingly comfortable and fun to drive. I come up with reasons just to take the car out!
Great vid. I was itching for a fr-s a while back, and if I chickened out as something to use everyday as my only vehicle I was going to buy a WRX. Practicality and traffic manners were my concern, but I really wanted it. Plus, after having a few "jack of all trades" cars, I was really yearning for a proper sports car. Rwd, great steering, great balance, a drivers car that felt special. More than just speed. Something that would make me a better driver, not just faster because of awd and a turbo. Anybody can do that. A year later? I love my FRS. It's not fast, but it has made me so much better as a technical driver it was worth it. I love it more every time I drive it, and still look forward to leaving the driveway every day. I could not argue that the wrx is the better choice for speed freaks, but for true drivers? The "Twins" are nearly without peer. All the bolt ons in the world won't make the wrx a sports car. It just comes down to what you really are looking for. Great video as always guys.
I watched this one 7 years ago, and it came up in my recommendations. I now have both a 2016 BRZ and a 2020 WRX, and I agree with the assessment that was given here. The BRZ is a very fun, practical coupe by itself, but once you have a family, the WRX delivers most of the fun factor while still being able to shuttle around wife and kids. The interior in both has improved noticeably since the first years. Random: I noticed there's a mishmash of exterior components on that BRZ like it was in the process of getting aero done....I have that same STI gurney flap!
"This car suffers from the Lotus Elise Problem: Any time that you are stuck in traffic [...] [not on a mountain or winding road] you're gonna be unhappy. [etc.]" Wait a minute! Does that mean the WRX is a much better EVERY DAY DRIVER?! Case closed!! Honestly, I LOVE the datapoints that this video brings to the car table. It's a bit like the Nutnfancy and GRArkada of car videos. Of the cars in this video, I'm liking the practical and all-round WRX, especially if the weather strikes! I even hear that you can get peak torque from the regular WRX compared to the STI. Engineering Explained had a really good comparison between those two. :)
I almost picked up a brz when they first came out, but finally decided on an s2000. Later I picked up a 17' wrx for a daily and it really can do it all!
@@senseicorey9979 I didn't have any big issues during my ownership. But the engine tuning on the wrx from the factory is horrible. If you are considering a newer wrx I would look at the brand new model with the 2.4L engine.
You guys are so right. My children are grown and I want the fun on back roads. I love my BRZ. I am 62 years old and have driven in 2 Targa Newfoundland events. I am a co-winner of the Kenzie Cup, $2000 winner from Subaru Canada for being a 2nd Place winner of Targa Newfoundland Grand touring Un-equipped. Totally stock.
The BRZ/FRS are way over priced. It shoud be a $19k-$24k car max. I saw one at the subaru dealership for $31k! Why would i want to spen $31,000 for a BRZ? Especially when Mitsubishi a few blocks away has a few evo 10's left going for $33,000-$36,000. The FRS and BRZ are good cars but anything over $26k IMO is insane......
The bottom line here is, since most people who buy either of these two will mostly likely mod them, which is easier to mod to overcome their shortcomings? Adding power (turbo/SC) is easy, but lowering center of gravity is much more difficult to do. Subaru's own documentary on BRZ's development states that when they were designing to car, the focus was to have the lowest COG possible and to make it fun to drive, because pretty much everything else can be easily modded by the driver.
I had one of the first 2013 BRZ in my area (jun2012 at the dealer) and I have to let it go. I just ordered the new 2015 WRX... I needed the extra kick. I loved My BRZ. But, I wasn't about to spend all that extra to get it super tuned up. I had all the bolt-on's on it and it was great to drive it. specially with better sticky shoes and lowered. But, The WRX is better for my area weather conditions year round... .This will be my 5th subi and proud to own them. Great review guys!!!
I bought my 2016 WRX two days ago. I test drove both the WRX (first) and BRZ (second). If you were on the fence, as I was, test drive both. I guarantee you'll walk away with the WRX, just like I did. This is coming from a corner carver. I'm not a 1/4 mile guy.
+steevieg - Yep, and that's the exact conclusion most people come to. The only ones who end up buying the BRZ/FR-S are people are really dead set in buying one.
+steevieg - Yeah, I say if they lower it to around 24K MSRP, so you can deal it down to 22-23K. Then it's competing with the Civic Si. Then they can sell more, because most people would probably choose this over the Civic Si.
+blazernhan - I'd go with with the 2016 WRX. Like steevieg said, it's risky to go used with tuner cars. The previous owner could have abused it and worse.
What ding bat would not like this video ? If your a car enthusiast you would if your a troll I see why . Anyways keep up the good work guys everyday driver rules. Best car reviews period .
as quite the car enthusiast, i sincerely appreciated and enjoyed this review. without a doubt, this is one of the best online car reviews i've seen. no real fluff, no bs, just side-by-side comparison between 2 nearly equal cars. i absolutely appreciate the differences between the 2 vehicles being pointed out - AWD vs RWD, etc. the only thing i could possibly hope for is a brake comparison. to 'future62' - the engine setup is purely on purpose - the 86mm bore and 86mm stroke is from Toyota's best engines (3sge/3sgte/2jzge/2jzgte). never prior has Subaru ever made a 'squared' engine - so, give Toyota thanks for the brilliant engineering on that count.
Todd and Paul are pretty honest and realistic car guys for these reviews. The 2015 WRX is a great bargain in terms of performance, utility, drivability, and fuel economy. If I had to replace my 1st gen Mazdaspeed3 today, the 2015 WRX will be my top pick.
...how many dirt roads do you travel down on your daily commute? Also, do you have checkpoints to make ahead of other drivers? It's nice the WRX is a "Rally Sedan", but we don't drive on a rally course everyday. I'm looking for a car good on the road and in life. For those of who actually rally race, I have no doubts the WRX is a great choice. However, I hear the BRZ, in rally spec, is a pretty good car too, in the RWD/2WD class.
The WRX comes with 3 differentials, and you can send more or less power to the rear or front wheels, changing the driving experience. Enough said... The 2 cars have different goals and meaning.
@@K03sport Well if you live in a place with snowy winter, you can use the Rally Sedan all year around. Its a very versatil car. Great Performance, great for carry passangers and amazing in slippery surfaces
I feel like the majority of people write off the BRZ due simply to its stat sheet while neglecting to even drive the car. Call me crazy, but I walked away with a bigger smile having driven the BRZ than I did with an M3 coupe. Both were six speed manuals, but unless I was planning to track my car, the M3's limits are just too high for everyday driving. I am not trying to end up in jail and, as a result, the BRZ has so much more usable power. As for the power deficiency, I found that the gearing ratios were long enough to where I could really rev it out and just listen to the melodic boxer engine. I was so focused on the tachometer that next thing I knew I was doing 60 in 2 gear and later 90 in 4 gear. Add to that the fact that it handles like its on rails and has virtually no body roll. And due to its low seating postion, it felt, to me, as if I was traveling faster than I actually was. The cockpit-like seating position is very driver oriented. While I do not deny that the BRZ would be better with the WRX's engine, I came away quite satisfied, with a huge grin on my face, and the last thought on my mind being that the car lacked power. I only compare the M3 and BRZ as they were sports cars that I drove within mere days of one another. I have yet to drive the 2015 WRX although I have driven the previous generation WRX. I hope to experience the 2015 soon.
Maybe they should put a variable intake length system like the Honda Prelude vtec had. You got a slight boost from switching to a shorter pipe at the 3.5k-5.2k rpm from that, with your vtec from 5.2k.
***** Dont argue with the V6 Mustang driver. He will always have some dumb comeback. Your wasting your time. "Learn to drive" Because his V6 Mustang can climb Mount Everest pulling a 60ft Boat im sure. Troll Logic.
"I felt myself knifing through traffic, at speed I shouldn't, just because I could" lol this is my daily life! Thank you for this review, you guys are the first review that said it perfect. I didn't buy my car because of how pretty is was or how amazing it looked on the inside, I bought it because of how it felt driving, how engaging it is. Awesome review, thanks.
Amazing job in this review guys. As an FR-S owner I'm very proud of how you represented the FR-S/BRZ/GT86 community...Well done! Oh, and I'd take either car, but I'm definitely a happy camper in my FR-S.
Technically they have similar engines, the FRS has a FA20 which is the same engine as the WRX but it has Toyota's fuel injectors, the WRX has the FB20F which is a turbo charged version of the FRS engine with subaru's injectors. In the end, a Turbocharged FRS will deliver better track performance.
+Tyler Nandalal - FA20-D4S is in the BRZ/FRS and the WRX has the FA20DIT. There is no such thing as the FB20F. The only thing better about the FA20 than the FA20DIT (besides the turbo) are that the heads flow slightly better. Arguable would be port injection on the FA20 vs. direct injection on the FA20DIT. A hybrid FA20DIT bottom and FA20 head would be the best combo for max power. I agree that a performance focused BRZ will be better on the track, but you need to get your facts straight lol
***** the FA20 DIT is the FA20F, I accidentally put FB20F. The FRS has the FA20D (Most people just say FA20) and the D4S mean Toyota's D-4S injectors. But everything else I said was correct, Its just that a typed FB20F instead of FA20F which is the DIT. The FB20B and FB20X are similar engine's to the FA20 but they don't put out as much power.
Unless you care about high way pulls and traffic light drag races it trumps the WRX. It sits far more lower. It has better weight distribution, It's lighter. It drives like a go kart and the WRX drives like a truck in comparison to the BRZ. That feeling translates to the public streets.
Why? just why every magazine writer, blogger, youtuber and critics says that the WRX is ugly I saw the car live and its looks great, looks mean and also the thing I like the most is like it doesn´t look so flashy or so fast in the mirror, it can pass under the radar if you are distract, most people don´t know what this car can do and I find this feature awesome, instead th BRZ looks to flashy too sporty, you know if you stop in a traffic light next to another sporty car it says that you gonna race it and the WRX is discrete but not ugly or bad design, I study Industrial Design I know the concept it´s way better but the real thing is not bad or poor design, the only but I put it is does remind me the first time I see a BMW 330i, but again is a car half the price with an outstanding performance
I know this is an old vid but these guys are awesome. I was torn between the 2018 wrx and the 2018 brz. I went with the wrx. Both cars are amazing value for the money but the lack of power in the brz is what made me go with the wrx. Not many winding mountain roads in SW Florida! None the less great review. Keep em coming
I'm here because i'm considering trading my 2013 BRZ for a 2016 WRX... Honestly for the last year or so i've really been regretting the purchase of the BRZ, but when i was shopping for a car the current WRX was crap... I paid 32k for my BRZ limited with a few extra features and i feel ripped off, honestly i just want something more practical and something more powerful....
Matt Ramsey get a WRX then? It's faster but drives like a SUV compared to the BRZ due to the much lower center of gravity in the BRZ, much lighter weight, better weight distribution and of course rwd is always more fun than AWD aka newb wheel drive.
Jee Vang funny thing is the Miata drives softer than the BRZ. It's lighter but the steering has less feedback with a slower steering ratio along with it having a slightly higher center of gravity. The BRZ definitely feels like a go kart relative to other cars in the market at that price range. Both the Miata and BRZ are the most go-kart handling like cars in the 20-40k price range. You need to step up to things like the Cayman or Alpha 4C for the next level of car that feels 'gokart' like?
Nice videos guys, I have watched almost all your vids on the BRZ/FRS/86 and they helped me make the right choice for me. Which was an 86, only reason is that there is better local support from Toyota than Subaru. I don't care that it is not that powerful, whenever someone passes me I just smile wait for some corners ;)
I bought a 2015 WRX (same color) in April 2015 and it's by far the best car I've ever owned. My 12 year old son asked if it would become his first car when it's time for him to drive. I guess he appreciates the sharp look and sound of it too!
Of course the WRX is the superior car in nearly every facet, and the STI is better than the WRX. Only concerning issue is MPG in the STI. Anyone that complains about the ride of a WRX or STI need to step back and realize they're shopping for the wrong car, and should head to their nearest buick dealership. I'd say BMW/etc, but if they have money for a good model BMW (235i for example, or CLA45 AMG even) they should probably go that route for that better ride, yo.
If its so superior, how come no one has beaten me in my BRZ with a WRX at the track? Just curious. There are reasons why the twins are now the most popular track car.
if you want a better ride its simple... get a car with a longer wheel base the 235i, cla45 amg do not ride that great they have short wheel bases lol german cars cost too much to maintain as well
+EXillw I had a g37s manual. so I can tell you as a platform the g37 is more balanced and it's engine more exciting. it's interior more upscale. the wrx is certainly more planted. the engine torquier and the fuel economy is better. it's stiffer feels more secure. interior is economy car and I expected nothing more from an impreza based car. power is good. I'd sti prefer a larger naturally aspirated engine over a smaller turbocharged one.
+EXillw - If you think the WRX interior is cheap, you should sit in the BRZ. The new '15+ WRX has a really nice interior though for what it is, so I don't know what you're talking about.
+Jimmy Lai I own one man. it's an economy car interior. there's nothing wrong with that. the value is in its power train, chassis and simplicity. Im not complaining about it I did buy one after all. compared to my Infiniti there's way more hard plastics. especially on the doors. it's impreza based. there's no shame in that. if you have been in a gti you'll see the massive difference in interior quality between the Subaru and the VW. it's just the way it is man. I love my wrx and am very happy with it. just don't expect premium interior finishes versus actual luxury or premium compacts. that's why the legacy exists in the Subaru lineup
+Cianski 06 - Me too - ain't no shame in it. I was just saying that for a cheap car where all the money went into the engine and AWD, it still has a really nice interior. I'm just saying to the other guy that the BRZ has an even cheaper interior, since this video is about the BRZ vs. WRX.
I agree 100%. I can't for the life of me understand why some people don't like the shape of the car. I have people coming up to me to just to say how hot it looks. The profile does remind me of a BMW.
Nickolai Siegfried it's amazing how such a beauty in the BRZ was made by the same company that made this hideous looking thing. It still is a fun car but it is hideous.
I have owned a 2013 BRZ when they launched in Australia, Now I'm ready to buy the 2021 WRX STI. Both fantastic cars, This is one of favorite reviews on UA-cam and you both do a great job keeping the viewer entertained. I do still laugh at the super loud crumbling gravel in the intro when your waling to the camera, I can see your both really trying to walk carefully to reduce the sound :)
The CVT in the WRX is nothing like a traditional CVT. Its kinda of irresponsible to comment on it in such a blunt manner, when you haven't driven it. Try it...then comment. Other than that, decent article....except the WRX truly is the better car on every level. It's not really even close.
Stef o It's kinda irresponsible to say "the WRX truly is the better car on every level". It has higher COG, more weight, a more muted steering feel, a lesser transmission, it's AWD (less fun), body rolls much more, seats are worse, +more. It has some things over the 86, but by no means is it truly better on every level, that's just factually incorrect. The general consensus is that the 86 is a better pure drivers car, and the WRX is better to live with day to day.
KrazaK87 I agree the BRZ is more lower, more sportier feel. Thats about it. How do you figure a car with less horses, less torque, no turbo, no AWD, worse suspension, and zero winter capability, is the superior drivers car? Also, all articles I've read agree that the BRZ seats while sporty, and less comfortable then WRX seats.
Stef o If you think AWD is the preferred platform for driving enthusiasts, there are a _hell_ of a lot of enthusiasts that will argue that you are dead wrong. The suspension is worse in the WRX, due in no small part to the restriction of more weight (body roll). Winter capability has no weight in this conversation. There are cars designed for that, the 86 is not one of them. I live in Australia, I will never have to drive in snow. Ever. The 86 seats are indeed sportier, which tends to come with less comfort; Again, comfort is not a (considerable) factor in driving sports. As has been said many times, by many publications - If you want a track/sport/enthusiast vehicle, go the 86. If you want a comfortable daily driver that can get the shopping done and still give you some thrills, get the WRX. It's silly to suggest the WRX outperforms the 86 in every way. Just silly.
KrazaK87 Ok so YOU live in a place with no snow, and the 86 cant do anything in snow...so we just omit that category? Uh no. WRX is an all year performance car....why the hell would I just omit that? While I see your point with regards to AWD vs RW, I think I speaking from a launch / race view...where AWD will destroy RWD all day. The 86 is slower, has less torque, and is NA egine not turbo. WRX is a rally inspired machine, where as the BRZ , FRS, 86....is a cheap sports car, that has some good looks, and decent handling. It is NOT an engineering feat like the WRX is. Your making the WRX to be a Camry daily driver, and the 86 to be some performance sports car. Dude give it up. The WRX is the vastly superior, and more expensive automobile.
You guys rock...intelligent reviews that really help sort out the winners from the near winners. BTW, this video speaks to me. I own a 2009 WRX which has been a really fun car especially after some suspension and tuning upgrades. And I just bought a 2017 BRZ which I just really love. Subaru did mostly a great job with that car with a few nagging oversights. Their overly conservative and sloppy factory alignments have me pretty angry. Nearly 2 degrees negative camber in the rear and 0 camber in the front makes for an understeering pig out of the box, plus the cross camber side to side is not even close to zero as it should be. Shame on you Subaru. The infotainment system looks impressive at first glance but is clunky and they could surely do much better by sourcing it from from another supplier. And please include a real gps at this price point with lifetime updates. Other than those issues, I really do love the car's dynamics. Its quiet at highway speeds, keeps up with traffic without flogging it, and gets stellar fuel economy. The best car I have ever owned as far as fuel economy goes. And its an absolute joy to throw around on a back road. Many of the places I go require using a windy two lane road to get there so this car fits the bill for that. Comfortable, not at all noisy for what it is, and quick enough to keep me entertained. Yes its not as fast as the WRX, but it is a hell of a lot more fun, and will probably let me keep my drivers license just a wee bit longer... hehe. :)
I watched this video when deciding what my new should be. I ended up getting the WRX (premium version, manual) and absolutely love it. Fantastic in traffic and also on the mountain roads. Anywhere you go, you can definitely get there quickly. I'm not sure though what they meant with the WRX's ability to just keep up with the BRZ in the mountains, or the WRX having to go "9 or 10 tenth's where the BRZ is only 7 or 8 tenths" (can anyone clarify?) - I can say the WRX goes very well on these roads and even hangs with the porsches, lotus elise's and even new Nissan GTR's No regrets getting the WRX :)
Fuck this car. What the fuck was Subaru thinking. If any of you think the 2015 WRX is good looking leave a comment, because every single person I've came across hates it.
Without fail, whenever we reached the turnout spot for us to switch, they'd always be grinning ear to ear and holding onto the armrest with a deathgrip, before looking over at me and saying "So...my turn, right?"
Obviously they always went slower than me on the way back, but neveretheless I encouraged them to have some fun with it, within limits of reason and skill.
That was a seriously great story man. Thanks for sharing honestly.

Love the story reminds me of intial D! :)
You're going to do well in life, young man (I'm assuming you're young). Great story, thanks for sharing.
i got the brz, no regrets.
Except when a V6 Camry beats you off the line
@@gz9975 that doesn't matter
@@tancow Not to a BRZ driver. It's all about the cute exterior looks. Even the interior is garbage.
@@gz9975 its decent but I can't say it's good
Greg Gammago brz is meant for what you can do with it so tuning the brz could probably out run your Prius I mean Camry
Thanks guys
Very glad this was helpful to you and it’s cool to hear your story of owning both cars. Thanks for watching!
yea the brz could do with more power, a turbo etc etc, fkin etc, but dont forget that the big thing about the brz is that it was about making a statement; forget about more grip, more power, more this, more that... lets remind manufacturers to concentrate on the fun, not the more, more, more.
its what makes the car interesting (plus its an unbelievably good track tuning base)
More power = more fun. People don't complain and say "Only 200hp! It needs over 1000!!" They want at least 300-350hp, thats not ridiculous to ask.
youre right, its not ridiculous to ask and honestly i wish it had that power but if it had that much it would no longer be the "affordable" rwd sports car
brad ley This. Just...this.
Nail was just hit on the head.
+steevieg You don't NeeD a track to enjoy the directness and low center of gravity of the BRZ. It's called a windy road.
so, ive owned my frs for a year now.
I'm not in my 20s anymore.
you still got the wrx?
Really love the BRZ. This is the car to prove you that you don't need that much horsepower to enjoy the ride.
The BRZ/FR-S is the modern remake of the AE86. It doesn't NEED that high power to be a fun car, that's the beauty of it :) This video just proves that it stayed true to it's predecessor
More like the Celica, but yeah
(unless they release a turbo BRZ... )
Well said man
This comparison can also go to the second Porsche problem, the cayman is way more expensive than the Mecan.
You should mention the WRX in wet conditions, amazing poise and grip.
I hated the 2015 WRX when I first saw it but it has REALLY grown on me since then.
I was saving up for a 2014 Evo X but I will be purchasing a 2015 WRX instead.
Abdul Wali I agree. It looks more mature and more subtle while still looking cool although a bit Camry-ish
Yeah I was definitely thinking about getting an Evo X but the WRX just works better for me after all the stuff I've seen and read about
did you get your wrx?
@@ClearMindMediax yes I currently have a 2020 WRX FBO on 🌽 making 420hp.. it’s the fastest car I’ve ever owned and so fun to drive lol
@@DrBoulter aye glad to hear you got your car!
awesome review guys. didn't realize it was 19 minutes long until it was over :)
Someone should send this video to management at Subaru
I personally think the BRZ is one of the most incredible looking cars ever made.
“do we need to march on washington” didn’t age well 😂😂😂
This review is the reason I ended up buying a 2015 WRX 2 years ago, and I've been happy with that decision ever since!
Who stays under 80 on the highway in a subaru? I don't.
In a BRZ, yes you do lol. Most people buy the car as either a DD (like myself) or for the track. When I say DD, I also include and imply spirited driving.
Above 4500 rpm in top gear mileage dips into the 20's. At those speeds the Corvettes are almost as efficient.
Thank you for this review it made me decide to get my BRZ a few weeks back.
Aside from gas mileage nothing would be lost by going up to 2.5L, and they could make the 2.5L a short stroke engine so it would rev faster.
future62 No, because Toyota was obsessed with 86 this, 86 that, 86 everything.
future62
BMWs like Mustangs and Camaro's are desighed from the top down.

We're thrilled to hear this, Tony! This is why we do the show, so thanks for being with us for both videos and podcast. We hope you enjoy that BRZ!
And yes , the back seats are practical.
where I live -- the all wheel drive is not just fun, it is mandatory
Yeah I can't see anyone with intelligence trying to use a BRZ as their only car in the upper Midwest.
This is such a relevant video for so many of us, especially us Subaru folks who are always debating between the two. Thank you!
Used to drive a first gen BRZ and went to the final gen hatchback WRX. I miss the BRZ.
I just bought a brand new WRX, I am obsessed.
please don't change. I enjoy how knowledgeable you guys are and how comprehensive you guys review cars.
What a great review, and a great reminder of why I subbed in the first place. Keep up the good work!
Personally I think the WRX is sexy as hell
I agree with you
ewwwww ;) brz for life
I like the front end, but the rest of the car is very unappealing to me. Particularly the back end. It also looks very tall, which helps with visibility but not with sexiness :(
It looks like a 2005 Corolla, with uglier taillights - if that's possible.
I agree. I was scratching my head. Never on my commute do I wish I was in a larger, more refined car. Its very docile and comfortable around town.
I enjoy driving mine day to day also. I have gone on many 500+ mile trips. I often turn off the radio and just enjoy the drive. Going to The WALL SPEEDWAY in Jersey this weekend. That is a 450 mile round trip. 200 miles of back roads.
I think I subconscious went with WRX because if this video. I love my WRX!
2011-2014 subaru's has the best body design for me...
i agree! hatchback Subaru are so nice. Bring the Hatchback !!!
I disagree. I prefer the 2015 and up. The nose on the 2011-2014 is ugly (my opinion). I love the look of the newer ones.
I'm selling my 86 and for me it's got to b the blobeye 04 plate😂
Yes I definitely agree!!!
I love my '04 blob, i test drove the FRS, was underwhelmed. The FRS was fun, but to a point.
WOW first real review I come to! I own the FRS. I prefer it over WRX but I dont have a family or kids.
same
what made you choose frs over brz? with almost identical prices it seemed wasteful since the brz has a much much better interior
Mason Rieber Perhaps some people like the front design of the FRS more is the only thing I can think off.
Mason Rieber the front design, and the FRS has a more sporty suspension setup. Also it's lighter.
Awesome review, guys!! The editing and the back and forth viewpoints between Paul and Todd are one of the best on UA-cam.
Always look forward to your next show. 👍
They completely forgot to mention snow for like half the world that has it thw wrx is by far the better car then
+ExPeRiA gaming - Quite a few people are driving the FRS/BRZ in the snow.
+EverydayDriver i meant specifically snow drifting something that you cant really do in a rwd car
+EverydayDriver thanks for responding though
+ExPeRiA gaming - I drift in mine in the winter here in Montreal. Find some quiet roads and I drift with my friends. I prefer the way RWD handles in the snow, but that's probably because I'm used to it. Friends have a WRX (2005) and they prefer it, but my FRS feels like an extension of myself when I drive.
+EverydayDriver ya ok! better tires may help in the snow but you first need awd/4wd. Ill try telling that to my friends here in NY that all i need is a 2 wheel drive vehicle with better tires. lol
Best 18mins of my day and probably the best car review I've seen here. I couldn't agree more on what you guys said. Five stars to you guys!
Wow - that's a huge compliment. We're thrilled you liked this film and hope you'll share it and stay around for more of our work. Thanks very much!
It's a pretty straight forward decision for anyone living in the snow belt.
Yippie you're absolutely right. snow tires and a brz. couldn't agree more
Century Helix 😂😂 perfect.
@@centuryhelix8727 lol
For me, yes it was. New BRZ to sit in the garage besides a once or twice per year road trip to mountains. A thoroughly beat to hell wrong wheel drive thousand dollar car to commute in/rust away in salt.
I don't see a reason to take a nice car on lame roads.
I'm so glad I live in a place with mild winters.
Thankyou
I watched this one 7 years ago, and it came up in my recommendations. I now have both a 2016 BRZ and a 2020 WRX, and I agree with the assessment that was given here. The BRZ is a very fun, practical coupe by itself, but once you have a family, the WRX delivers most of the fun factor while still being able to shuttle around wife and kids. The interior in both has improved noticeably since the first years.
Random: I noticed there's a mishmash of exterior components on that BRZ like it was in the process of getting aero done....I have that same STI gurney flap!
Actually, the FXT is better, because what's more fun than having a sleeper? Well done Subaru, for having so many fun cars.
Loved the brz, wanted to trade my 2011 wrx for one, the 2015 wrx has improved enough that I don't really care about the brz anymore.
It was almost exhausting watching you both strain with that decision of which was better... God that was enjoyable!!! Thank you.
I almost picked up a brz when they first came out, but finally decided on an s2000. Later I picked up a 17' wrx for a daily and it really can do it all!
How's the reliability on the wrx? I have a 2002 thsts always been solid. Looking to upgrade at some point but don't know if subaru quality went down
@@senseicorey9979 I didn't have any big issues during my ownership. But the engine tuning on the wrx from the factory is horrible. If you are considering a newer wrx I would look at the brand new model with the 2.4L engine.
I love your videos. The picture quality is awesome! Your commentary is great, honest, and real. Keep them coming.
New Subaru WRX Looks kinda BMW 5-Series
Finally, someone agrees.
+Kristofers G good thing or bad thing? i love it
yeah its plain.
Especially in ice silver metallic. I was thinking the same exact thing when I first got mine.
Sure, with a vastly cheaper interior.
Completely agree. It's competing with cars like the civic si, mx5, and the ford fiesta.
brz is rear wheel drive non of the other cars are ...
mx5 is rwd but that's besides the point. As far as price range, performance and target market those are its competitors.
i agree but im going to get a brz and put a turbo in it
mf phatal
Just get an old WRX for $5,000 and dump the remaining 20K+ into mods.
I just got a 2015 wrx. Its so fun to drive :)
I second that.
+will mckenzie - The test drive will make that lean towards a WRX a fall instead. Fall in love that is lolol
+blazernhan - I'd go with with the 2016 WRX. Like steevieg said, it's risky to go used with tuner cars. The previous owner could have abused it and worse.
You two are both equally cool and helpful. Possibly the most knowledgable/fun/helpful car review source I've ever seen!
Thank you. We’re glad to have you watching!
What ding bat would not like this video ? If your a car enthusiast you would if your a troll I see why . Anyways keep up the good work guys everyday driver rules. Best car reviews period .
Thank you. Immensely. We hope you'll share our work with others!
as quite the car enthusiast, i sincerely appreciated and enjoyed this review. without a doubt, this is one of the best online car reviews i've seen. no real fluff, no bs, just side-by-side comparison between 2 nearly equal cars. i absolutely appreciate the differences between the 2 vehicles being pointed out - AWD vs RWD, etc.
the only thing i could possibly hope for is a brake comparison.
to 'future62' - the engine setup is purely on purpose - the 86mm bore and 86mm stroke is from Toyota's best engines (3sge/3sgte/2jzge/2jzgte). never prior has Subaru ever made a 'squared' engine - so, give Toyota thanks for the brilliant engineering on that count.
I wished Subaru brings back the GC8 look. Classic Subaru.
+CCTV9 Totally agree with you, the WRX & STI looks very bland & boring to me
+theswedenmalmo sorry but the GC8 looks to old to be modern, no bringing back that style.
+Jotveer Khangura are you saying that the 2015 looks better than the GC8 look ?
If so go home, your drunk
Yea like wtf is this look? fucking Ford Focus or someshit....
CCTV9 you know this wrx 15 is that gc8 style. other was round headlight this is new generation of the impreza gc8
Are completely different cars
One is a Sport Car
The other one is a Rally Sedan.
Both are FANTASTIC but for different purposes
...how many dirt roads do you travel down on your daily commute? Also, do you have checkpoints to make ahead of other drivers? It's nice the WRX is a "Rally Sedan", but we don't drive on a rally course everyday. I'm looking for a car good on the road and in life. For those of who actually rally race, I have no doubts the WRX is a great choice. However, I hear the BRZ, in rally spec, is a pretty good car too, in the RWD/2WD class.
The WRX comes with 3 differentials, and you can send more or less power to the rear or front wheels, changing the driving experience. Enough said...
The 2 cars have different goals and meaning.
@@K03sport
Well if you live in a place with snowy winter, you can use the Rally Sedan all year around.
I live in Colorado.... WRX + Snow = FUN..... BRZ + Snow = wall plowed..~~
learn to drive, RWD + snow is the sickest thing ever, unless your stuck, then your fcked
And why I want to be stuck in the middle of a Colorado blizzard, when I can have a WRX that can pull a police car out of the snow..???
***** Dont argue with the V6 Mustang driver. He will always have some dumb comeback. Your wasting your time. "Learn to drive" Because his V6 Mustang can climb Mount Everest pulling a 60ft Boat im sure. Troll Logic.
lool my v6 sure was fun in winter, go drive your prius, I drive v8 bitch

"I felt myself knifing through traffic, at speed I shouldn't, just because I could" lol this is my daily life! Thank you for this review, you guys are the first review that said it perfect. I didn't buy my car because of how pretty is was or how amazing it looked on the inside, I bought it because of how it felt driving, how engaging it is. Awesome review, thanks.
9:06 come on Paul... Tell us how you REALLY FEEL....
😂
Amazing job in this review guys. As an FR-S owner I'm very proud of how you represented the FR-S/BRZ/GT86 community...Well done! Oh, and I'd take either car, but I'm definitely a happy camper in my FR-S.
Does anyone else think the WRX just looks like a Toyota Corolla? It has no emotion for me.....
agreed
Finally someone said it.
That's quite funny considering the BRZ/GT86 was based on the Corolla AE86 heritage.
As someone who drives a corolla, yes
Kinda like the new mustangs
Most undersubscribed car channel on youtube. Keep up the great work guys! I'm searching for a used WRX right now... any tips?
That wrx has held up well. With the latest iteration being an absolute design flop, imo, this wrx looks better than ever.
Why? just why every magazine writer, blogger, youtuber and critics says that the WRX is ugly I saw the car live and its looks great, looks mean and also the thing I like the most is like it doesn´t look so flashy or so fast in the mirror, it can pass under the radar if you are distract, most people don´t know what this car can do and I find this feature awesome, instead th BRZ looks to flashy too sporty, you know if you stop in a traffic light next to another sporty car it says that you gonna race it and the WRX is discrete but not ugly or bad design, I study Industrial Design I know the concept it´s way better but the real thing is not bad or poor design, the only but I put it is does remind me the first time I see a BMW 330i, but again is a car half the price with an outstanding performance
It's ugly. It has the proportions of an econo box.
Trading my BRZ for a WRX this week.
+scottdoyle250 Diriven both. You'll miss the 'go kart' like feeling of the BRZ. THe WRX felt like a SUV in comparison. It is more practical though.
I do. WHo cares? The motor is meant to do that. The Miata has soft steering and soft suspension set up. It's lighter but it's 'floaty'.
The concept wrx was amazing. The finished product is okay but dull. Great video yet again.
Jay Lyons
A lot of it may be crappy drivers. Not necessarily the car.
if you want a better ride its simple... get a car with a longer wheel base
the 235i, cla45 amg do not ride that great they have short wheel bases lol
german cars cost too much to maintain as well
Jay Lyons define "track". If it's cones in a parking lot, no need to reply.
***** auto car is essentially a drivers race, I saw a pro auto driver in auto cross beat a ferrari in a v8 holden from early 2000s
I actually love how the WRX looks. I think it's the best looking one yet!
There goes my plan on saving money
Hades Ian Totally dumping my savings on my first sports car lol
Its been a long time that I can watch a good review from any drive channels.
made my decision. ordered a wrx . comes Feb 28
+Cianski 06 I tested drive WRX, and no offence, it's fast but it just feel so cheap, it's a cheap feeling car with a super powerful engine.
WRX.
Really enjoyed your perspective on this segment. Please review the 2022 WRX.
Wth The new Subaru is gorgeous!!!!
Just got a 2020 wrx. Absolutely awsome
WRX not pretty?! I couldn't disagree more
+Black2KGSR I like the strong, boxy lines of the WRX in contrast with the flowy, liquid lines on the BRZ. Both look good to me.
I agree 100%. I can't for the life of me understand why some people don't like the shape of the car. I have people coming up to me to just to say how hot it looks. The profile does remind me of a BMW.
It reminds me of a beefed up Corolla
+Farhan Chowdhury I don't see people turning their heads to look at a borolla. lol
If Subaru put AWD into the BRZ, I'd buy one.
You guys set the standard for the most watchable car reviews on youtube.
The CVT in the WRX is nothing like a traditional CVT. Its kinda of irresponsible to comment on it in such a blunt manner, when you haven't driven it. Try it...then comment. Other than that, decent article....except the WRX truly is the better car on every level. It's not really even close.
I personally like the CVT's better than any auto or even DCT for everyday driving. But I'd still rather have a manual.
Yes its not as fast as the WRX, but it is a hell of a lot more fun, and will probably let me keep my drivers license just a wee bit longer... hehe. :)
Yesss, you own a Saab! Lol. Do a proper Saab review.
I watched this video when deciding what my new should be. I ended up getting the WRX (premium version, manual) and absolutely love it. Fantastic in traffic and also on the mountain roads. Anywhere you go, you can definitely get there quickly.
I'm not sure though what they meant with the WRX's ability to just keep up with the BRZ in the mountains, or the WRX having to go "9 or 10 tenth's where the BRZ is only 7 or 8 tenths" (can anyone clarify?) - I can say the WRX goes very well on these roads and even hangs with the porsches, lotus elise's and even new Nissan GTR's
No regrets getting the WRX :)
I'd get an EVO 9 and destroy them both.
I'm in the very small minimum where I didn't like the WRX hatch of the prior generation, however I love my 17 WRX and love the looks of it
Fuck this car. What the fuck was Subaru thinking. If any of you think the 2015 WRX is good looking leave a comment, because every single person I've came across hates it.
You guys are the best reviewers on the planet.
