Cities Skylines gameplay with the new Hotels and Retreats DLC! This new update adds in hotels and resorts that you can perfectly place in your city to attract tons of guests and make you unlimited money! Today I'll be building an entire hotel resort island with 5 star hotels, helicopters, and more!

13:36 I think I heard somewhere that public transport can increase a hotel's score, so a simple bus line going around the island with stops outside the hotel linking it to the commercial/office districts might increase its scores and thus make more money!
Or a tram! (And since the one he was struggling with was the center one, a metro station (with shops) to the central core!
I think it would be cool if the island was walking/transit only. Just walking paths and tram/bus roads

That's facts
The airport doesn’t have an air traffic control tower and it bothers me every time but that’s the only thing
It has close to perfection...
But no city branded with
"🚎 0 per week"
is perfect.
You should either make the ferry line go to the harbour or change the ferry stop on the island to the harbour-ferry transit hub so that tourists don’t need to change lines and modes of transport a million times to get to island.
Also, he should have connected the metro lines (could use the station with shops, or the underground one)
Then, he should’ve used the tram roads for the tunnel. Through that tunnell, one tram line would connect the transport hub to the island. Another line would be able to transport you between hotels, beaches, parks,, ect (trams are often considered touristy)
Finally, nothing is more touristy than a monorail, so at least one stop (at the main hotel). Perhaps more. Problem is, as this would also connect to the main hub, a bridge would be needed… so, maybe not.
For the parks, just make a new, artificial island! (Nature preserve, and city park)
Then, sightsing buses, a sightseeing balloon, and walking tours. (Through the nature preserve)
Phase 1- built a perfect city. Walkable, with ton of public transport and parks.
Phase 2- make it bigger and star to forget phase 1
Phase 3- SUPER, MEGA, RICH HOTELS??? HELL YEAH! PRIVATE ISLAND FOR MY RICH BROSS.
i love your cities skylines videos so much one of the best series so far in whole cities skylines, so organized and well educated!
You can add a toll gate at the entrance of the tunnel to the island. Since it is an exclusive, high-class (and upper class) experience, better regulate the traffic and have people pay for the experience lol

Hey Kibz, you have to change a little your prices on your Hotels. For the 4*, you have 136*62 = 8432, but if you lower the price, you can have for example 170*55 = 9350 because there will be more people.

There is a maximum hotels can hold. For multiple of them, he has been fluctuating between 0 and 20 empty rooms. Not much you can do about that! In some cases though, yes.
Public transit is where that truly shines though!
Can you turn around the spa by the docks so that when you swim, you can watch out over the docks and yachts?
Yes! I thought the same thing! Imagine being in the pool at this hotel on the beach and it doesn’t have a view of the ocean!

great episode! But I think the roundabout could use a bit more love, maybe some bushes in the middle? I think the concrete doesn't fit to all the nature surrounding it
A nature reserve on the beach would be perfect!
You could build a bus line going up and down the main road of the island, that would fix the rating of the design hotel and you could build a park behind it and I feel like a little “beach shuttle” would be realistic and fit in nicely.
You should add a separate tram line on the island, I think it would look really nice!
You should build out the downtown next as the city looks kind of empty and weird without it. Love the vids!

Only Kibz would build a five-stah resort on an island and be happiest not about the one side's stellar ocean view, but instead about the other side's view of his infrastructure.

Add bus lines to areas without good public transit. Like the porch neighborhood and the industrial area instead of a taxi stop.

15:35 I feel better honestly with the shops etc surrounding the big hotel. People want to be able to leave their hotel room and go shopping or something within a walkable distance from their hotel. You should have easier access to the beach from it imho.

Hi Kibitz, I loved the video! I just think the luxury hotel takes away from the quality of the other hotel, as it is so big.
You should make a beach city. ( beach houses, business, peirs, and more)

You could add loads of fun stuff to the beach
Maybe use Mallorca as a Inspiration for the Island! Trees are good but on a Island with hot temperatures like that there would be a ton of shops and 3-4 level apartment buildings. Also there would be lots of Palm Trees and not some woods because the woods would dramatically bring down the temperature of the island and it’s tropical feeling. It fits to the city so well but it doesnt quite stand out so I think these little things would be a great addition. Love the series 🔥💪🏼

What would make this even more perfect is if they came out with a rental car DLC and you could get rid of that tunnel and just have them get to the island via ferry and also make a profit with them driving around rental cars on the island

A resort like that would possibly have a direct bus route from the airport for easy tourist access
Kibz if you want transition densities for the area you built in the previous episode you might want to consider adding a district policy for some the areas with high density for no skyscrapers/highrises. It might look more natural.
When you do build the downtown, perhaps build a museum on the coast that incorporates those trenches and bunkers, as if it's a military museum and monument to a war and/or veterans.
You could use People Park Generators, or whatever they are called, basically invisible parks to populate the beaches and make it look like people are there. I know its modded but its cool

Public transport extends the range of a hotel, if the transport stop is in range. This allows you to build your hotel and then have it not strictly on top of but still connected to the districts it wants.
You should’ve made the island into a mini Las Vegas like add a casino and palm trees

I'm starting to think the "downtown core" is going to be Kibitz's "Tech Island" haha. (Tom from the Yogscast had a C:S series and perpetually mentioned making a futuristic "Tech Island" that ultimately never happened.)
