About the Project:
Sunset City is a series based on the US state of Florida. Not just taking inspiration from the most iconic tourist destinations or glamorous beaches, Sunset City will focus on capturing the entire state from North to South. We will cover such cities as Miami, Tampa and Orlando, as well as some towns in between. Most importantly Florida's natural landscaping spanning from the tropical beaches to the vast wetlands of the Everglades.

In St. Augustine there used to be a notorious bar called The Giggling Gator. Everyone had a story about it, the people who went there, and "activities" that went down in that place. Its no longer there and it just created more stories about why its gone
I think the hotel would probably become a bit of a business hotel after the expo when the airport gets built, it is close to that. Travelers would stay there and then take the transit connections for the expo to the city
perhaps also for cons n such? like geeks n stuff

Awesome use of that hotel… I think the Gator Bar might still be my favorite build today, though.
Expo waterfront idea: in 1964 there was an expo in Lausanne, Switzerland, where you could board an u-boat which also had a nice waterfront. I know thats not really the right time but maybe check out a few pictures of it, at least for inspiration
Great series that I’m hooked on! I think on the water front of the world expo you should build an aquarium/sunset city sea life history, and maybe features a Lighthouse that use to sit in the bay. Great series!
I think It would be cool to add the Miami Marine Stadium to the shoreline! Its an open air stadium in miami that was mainly used to watch boat races in the 70s.
You could add a hotel chain throughout the city for another company,the company could be having financial troubles and in a last ditch effort to save the company, they work out a deal with a current business. Or, they could start doing some shady things to keep them running. Love the series so far!!
Honestly a ferry's Wheel right near the waterfront would raise up your attraction rate and could potentially save your expo

@@petterv6604 How? The first ever ferris wheel was literally created for the 1893 Chicago World Fair, and ferris wheels have been included at multiple expos since (most notably Japan 1985, which is the exact era he's going for). Ferris wheels are literally called "expo wheels" for a reason.

Cool video! If those islands are based on the Key West islands, you should build a litle airport with dirt/grass runway for the locals. You can see a few of these type of airports there. Or just a local heliport.
Maybe a boat tour? Example like the Queen Mary or USS Iowa would be cool!
The main complaint ive been hearing is the range on the hotels for their needs is VERY short .. so you need to jampack everything close together to make them efficient.
hopefully devs change it cuz it makes it hard to make things look good and realistic.
Virginia Key in Miami has an old cigarette boat racing stadium. Something like that would fit perfectly, especially with it being 80's themed and all the coke running going on at that time.
Maybe instead of building a normal fire station, you could build a Tiller fire truck showcase! A single garage as a tourist atraction, and inside would be that amazing truck! When the call will come in, he can respond!
Build an amusement park near the hotel and expo. It would be a great addition to the expo, and it would be a good reason to keep such a massive and extravagant hotel after the expo ends.
My friend, the experimental subway (metro) train car set that is on display in one of the pavilions at the Sunset City World Fair is actually real.
The State-of-the-Art Car, or SOAC for short, was a heavy rail mass transit vehicle built by the St. Louis Car Company in 1972 as a demonstrator vehicle for the US Urban Mass Transportation Administration, the predecessor of the Federal Transit Administration.
Between May 1974 and January 1977, the single married-pair rail car operated in intermittent revenue service in several cities in the United States, included in New York City. As a matter of fact, its design became the catalyst for the R44, R46 and later the R68 rail cars of the New York City Subway (with a few modifications).
Since 1989, the SOAC car set has been on display at the Seashore Trolley Museum in Kennebunkport, Maine.

as someone who used to live in the hampton roads area, this series scratches a weird itch for a marshy coastal mildly touristy city i didn’t know i had.
Name Idea: King Palms (King Bun bought it to make up for the failure of the King Bun Boat). Also why not create a pier with an amusement park? It is a good way to generate more cash and allows for the expo to still generate cash after it is finished.
The boat hotel was MADE for sunset city, I’ve not seen it look good until this

Water Feature Idea: For the Expo, make a pier with a giant Ferris wheel and small carnival attractions. Kind of like Santa Monica Pier in California or the Navy Pier in Chicago.
Could even name it Dania Pier after the historical hotspot Dania Beach Pier of Miami in the 1980's
When the expo ends the area could be turned into an amusement park, it could be turned into something like Epcot
You should put Neon lights on the Skyscrapers and the hotel to make it look very eighties.

@@twodollarstwenty I think the Metro Should start at the Airport, than run elevated near the Cruise ship Terminal to the EXPO, at an elevated station, go through to an Underground Station in the Downtown, then Re-emerge Elevated and cross the Highway into the Suburbs, where it would run at grade.

The Glasssboat is a floating fine dining restaurant in Bristol, UK. It has been a feature of the harborside for decades and is quite unique. Locals like it for special occasions and tourists enjoy it's perspective of the river. I say float the barge into the City after the expo and rebrand it

Mke Bergundsey is actually the hero of this story. It would be cool to have him run for Governor of the Seminole State or something.
One of those businesses must be the floundering "Seminole Locomotive Works". Their shady business deals have attracted a majority of the crime to the expo, where they are exhibiting the SCS4000P, a rejected subway design for the Sunset City Subway. They are EXTREMELY bitter about their failure to get a customer out of the city government, so a railway related crime wave might be on the horizon.
Sunset City Subway? There's a reason it has to be elevated like the Metrorail in Miami: porous bedrock which would cause the tunnels to leak.

I just love this series! I do wonder where all the money is going to though... with this amount of tourists there should be no reason to lose so much. I'm guessing there is quite some corruption in the local politics going on! 😬

one of the major reasons why business is going on on the island in Gator Bar, could be because its pretty easy to get around customs from this island and transport...... anything on small yachts or old fishing boats. this is also could be an addition for that island, a little wooden pier with an old fishing boat and of course more bikers hanging around on the pier. and some... not suspicious wooden crates
In Hong Kong there was an iconic floating restaurant called Jumbo. The owners decided to 'move' it via the ocean during a storm where it unsurprisingly sank (being a restaurant and not an ocean-going ship). It would be cool if the King Buns Barge was to mysteriously end up aground in the swampground and for someone to collect the insurance money.

When I went to college (university) in Miami the local paper presented an article called "Metrobus is mean to us" in its Sunday newsmagazine. So your bus network is not unrealistic for South Florida!
a floating barge like that should be a no brainer. change the inside to a better class of venue. small concerts, parties, weddings. stuff like that. a unique setting that people will remember. (edit: maybe even a floating small hotel/condo)

Make a german-austrian-suiss style district called “Deutschestown” pronounced: Doychuhstown
This small tourist area would be the home of the city’s beer culture and industry, hosting an annual Oktoberfest and such, it would also be great to have a traditional Lutheran church as the centerpiece of the district, located in the market square, which would host german cafe’s, souvenirs and, of course, bars.
This district would be only about 2-3 blocks in size, but would hopefully host alot of the german culture that exists in IRL miami-key west
Another idea that I’ve had is called Havannatown, or alternatively called in Spanish, “Ciudad Nueva Habana”, meaning New Havana Town.
This district would be similar to Deutschestown , except being based on Hispanic and Latino culture, especially from Habana Cuba, in which a lot of immigrants inside sunset city would be from.

If you ever build a big airport (I don’t know if you already have) I suggest building something similar to that round Pan Am terminal. I’m pretty sure that it was in JFK but I’m not sure.
If living in Florida has taught me anything, that's not a gator, that's a crocodile. But that would make more sense for an island anyway.
Idea, add a helicopter airline from the main city out to the islands.
Well Gloria seems like a small island that's far enough away from the big city, so it makes sense that a dodgy biker gang makes their presence there. Also the streets are more curvy, bikers love some long and curvy roads.

I don't really know, but maybe for Oceania you can put the Adelaide F1 street circuit. Maybe as a street circuit, or as a purpose built racetrack, or do the Melbourne Albert Park Street Circuit, which might be easier to implement as it is based around a park (Albert Park) around the Albert Park Lake. I don't really know, but having some Aussie F1 history would be pretty cool (in my eyes at least)
I'll tell you right now, the rental cabins make the most money when the rent is set to the lowest. It fills up the last room, and there are so few guests that stay that the profit from filling the extra room more than makes up for the reduced profit per guest.
Maybe after the expo, the “King Buns Barge” could be moved off of the coast of downtown Sunset city near an walkway by the water perhaps?
Maybe put the floating Hotel on the ceminal keys just to make it feel even more florida-ish, Or replace the boat hotel with the floating hotel, Or even expand to the smaller island to make the Floating hotel feel even more Noice.
