Been to a ton of concerts in my 54 years none was better than Mealoaf When I saw him in the 90s.He gave 110% on every song the night I saw him a mix of a rock show and Broadway musical all in one I didnt want it to end. Rip Meatloaf.
It's the genius composer Jim Steinman who wrote this masterpiece. He and Meat also worked together on Broadway before they released the album "Bat out of hell" in 1977. "Paradise by the dashboard light" is from that album. It's the 6th bestselling album of all time. "Anything for love" is from the album "Bat out of hell II - Back into hell" from 1993. It's a banger, too. Meat considered Jim Steinman his friend, his brother and his soulmate. Imho Meat and Jim were the perfect musical couple. Btw., in 1977 Meat was 30 years old, in 1993 he was 46. So I think it's a nice compliment for Meat when you said he looks the same in both videos. 😊 I recommend "Bat out of hell" or "For crying out loud".
Enjoyed your reaction. ML’s performances suck me into his vortex and spit me out the other side going WTH just happened?! Bat Out of Hell, Two Out of Three are classics. Ya gotta watch the official videos to get the full treatment. For Crying Out Loud is breathtakingly beautiful. These all written by Jim Steinman, a legend in his own right. RIP ML. You were a force of nature.
The man was a whole show by himself but when he sang with Ellen Foley on Paradise by the Dashboard Lights or Lorraine Crosby on this song they made each other better. Ps. I am from Sarasota.
I really love the official video for this. It's like a mini Beauty & The Beast/vampire movie. Meatloaf was very theatrical and it was amazing. Meatloaf was a belter like Elvis and Tom Jones but they all knew how to mix that with emotion and a softer voice alternately. However Meatloaf was definitely more theatrical than the others.
There is a reason this song won a Grammy. All of his music is very dynamic and full of his heart. Another great Rollercoaster of a song is Bat out of Hell. Another that really tugs at the heartstings is Objects in the Rearview Mirror. There are tons of others. Another good one that waa released in the 90s was Life is A Lemon.
Your analysis is spot on, he always sung from the heart The concert from which this performance originates was somewhat of a comeback show for Meat Loaf, it was a televised show recorded in front of an audience of fan club members in November of 1993, just as this song began to climb the charts The album this song comes from, Bat Out Of Hell 2 - was his return to fame in the US, Meat had always done well in Europe but hadn't charted in any real capacity since 1978 in the USA - hope this context is useful :) And yes he was the original singer of this song, it was written for him by Jim Steinman c. 1991
You must watch the music video. It is a depiction of beauty and the beast. Amazing talent My accountant was a good friend of meat loaf. He said he was a kind generous man We lost music platinum and a giant talent when he passed.
🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦 Meatloaf was one of a kind 👍🏻RIP Good réaction my friend Appreciate that you did the live version first time I eared this one 👍🏻👏 Now may I suggest another great performance try Joe Bonamassa with Jimmy Barnes Live studio Song is 🔥 🎵 Stone Cold 🎵 Incredible guitar and voice performance Keep the good work my friend ✌️ 👏 💪🏻👋
My son was a baby, technically. Maybe 14 to 16 months old. We recorded this VH1 special. My son could operate the VCR. He played this thing a lot. He's 31 now! He did watch cartoons too, so it wasn't only Meatloaf! Hahaha.
I saw your reaction it wasn't trash, but he was a unique vibe. I loved him for his diversity but I can see how it would be an acquired taste. His songs are known for the tempo changes....hence his title as rock opera god.
Gotta do Bat Out of Hell audio ❤️🔥 MTV then VH1. I feel like they catered to different musical audiences on the low though. Maybe it’s just how I’m remembering it lol
I don't know if Meatloaf sang anything not written by Jim Steinman. Likewise, Steinman rarely gave songs to anyone else. One of the exceptions was Bonnie Tyler, "Total Eclipse of the Heart'.
You need to listen to the lyrics before the main chorus. Each set of lyrics he will say two things he will do for love and then one thing he won't. "He will never forget the way you feel right now" "He will never forgive himself if he doesn't go all the way tonight" "But I'll never do it better than I do it with you So long, so long" "But I'll never stop dreaming of you every night of my life No way" And then the female vocals kick in and when she at the end says he will either leave her or cheat his response to both of these are "I won't do that"
I think they used to call this rock opera. Dramatic and a real performance. RIP Meatloaf.
You nailed it! I love your very thoughtful reaction! Meatloaf is like nothing anyone will ever see again. Keep doing this. Love your true reactions!!!
Every song Meat sings is as a character which he creates as he records them for the albums.
Meatloaf was an amazing singer/performer. He brought the best out of his band, singing mates, and crowd. Overall, a real Rock Icon...

What a theatrical legend Meatloaf was!!!

Man, i remember watching this as a kid on german tv,
Still in love with this song!
Your analysis is spot on, he always sung from the heart

None of your videos are trash, glad you did another One. MTV was great when they just played music.
Yes! You get it! You would love the video. It's like a movie. Did you know Meatloaf was a guest on Ghost Hunters twice. He loved it and he was great.
You must watch the music video. It is a depiction of beauty and the beast. Amazing talent
My accountant was a good friend of meat loaf. He said he was a kind generous man
We lost music platinum and a giant talent when he passed.
You are one of my favorite reactors! You really listen and give honest feedback!
Loved his songs
That piano intro to this is absolutely iconic.
🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
Meatloaf was one of a kind 👍🏻RIP
Good réaction my friend
Appreciate that you did the live version first time I eared this one 👍🏻👏
Now may I suggest another great performance try
Joe Bonamassa with Jimmy Barnes Live studio Song is 🔥
🎵 Stone Cold 🎵
Incredible guitar and voice performance
Keep the good work my friend ✌️ 👏 💪🏻👋
Original and the best
Meatloaf always left everything on the stage. He was known to collapse from exhaustion after a show.
He is an actor and started Rock Opera!
My son was a baby, technically. Maybe 14 to 16 months old. We recorded this VH1 special. My son could operate the VCR. He played this thing a lot. He's 31 now! He did watch cartoons too, so it wasn't only Meatloaf! Hahaha.
and now he has to explain to his kids what a vcr was :)
I saw your reaction it wasn't trash, but he was a unique vibe. I loved him for his diversity but I can see how it would be an acquired taste. His songs are known for the tempo changes....hence his title as rock opera god.
Welcome to rock opera!
Dude just twisted the tongue to say something it so funny lol. Awesome reaction...
The video to this one is cool too
You gotta react to Kickapoo now it shows meatloaf vocal range really well it's also got jack black and Dio in it it's awesome
I caught him in Dallas. I didn't even mind the drunk that fell on me.
BTW... Beaucoup PERFECT notes.
Gotta do Bat Out of Hell audio ❤️🔥 MTV then VH1. I feel like they catered to different musical audiences on the low though. Maybe it’s just how I’m remembering it lol
He is the original singer.
Hes an Icon! No one can do Meatloaf, every one else is an effort ... I prefer the original back in the 70s it had more punch
Breach - It's me god!!
Oh yeah it's his song
Dynamics
Vh1 and mtv had the same music it was MTV's hosts that made it number 1 back in the day. MTV has now gone to heck in a hand basket
I don't know if Meatloaf sang anything not written by Jim Steinman. Likewise, Steinman rarely gave songs to anyone else. One of the exceptions was Bonnie Tyler, "Total Eclipse of the Heart'.
Rip Meatloaf for
2 out of 3 ain't bad 👌🏼
MTV in the beginning than vh1
I have a problem, I I still don't know what he won't do ??? I don't get it. 🎶🎶🎶🎶👍👍
He won't cheat on her.
You need to listen to the lyrics before the main chorus. Each set of lyrics he will say two things he will do for love and then one thing he won't.
"He will never forget the way you feel right now"
"He will never forgive himself if he doesn't go all the way tonight"
"But I'll never do it better than I do it with you So long, so long"
"But I'll never stop dreaming of you every night of my life
No way"
And then the female vocals kick in and when she at the end says he will either leave her or cheat his response to both of these are "I won't do that"
Patti Russo is the best..
The music video to me is better
VH1 ?? for me MTV still got a lot of music but it ruined it buy stupid show my guest.
Please respect our ears and NEVER sing!
Im disrespecting them all day! lol
The best version of this is at the 91 grand gala
