Dude....... You "dadsplained" way too much! You killed this video with the constant running on and on explanations. Even your daughter got tired of it.
Though I'd heard a lot of Meatloaf before, I think the first time I heard this through was for a rehearsal for a Magic Act I was hired into. The full 11-12 min version of the song. As you said, 'Beauty and the Beast'. 7 - 8 illusions, 4 hand tricks, and 3 disappearances. It was INSANE to say the least, so this song holds a special place for me. After a few shows of it, I ended up calling all the lighting/pyro cues DURING the performance as well. The gravity of a show like that, and not getting anything wrong and revealing something is intense. Literally needed a day off after the shows to recover mentally. Can't hear the song now without actually calling it in my head...and hoping no one is near the explosives that I can't see when I say GO!
I once heard that Andrew Loyd Weber originally wanted to have Meatloaf play the Phantom in the Toronto production of Phantom of the Opera. Not sure if it's true.

Big production music video indeed. Meatloaf never did anything small. Big man, big voice, big songs, big everything. I remember this song was on top of the charts for a long time here in the uk, ‘93 was when I discovered my genre of music (Rock/Metal), this was one of the songs that got me hooked.

Has Annie listened to The Cult? So many great songs to choose by them... Fire Woman, Rain, Lil’ Devil, Big Neon Glitter to name just a few. Loving the content 😍
Jim Steinman, who wrote and produced all of Meatloafs hits, is a genius. The big production is his trademark. He's written songs for other artists aswell, among them Bonnie Tyler. May I suggest "Objects in the rearview mirror may appear closer than they are" by Meatloaf. Great song and great video.
Tyler's "Total Eclipse of the Heart", Air Supply's "Making Love Out of Nothing at All", Meat Loaf's "I'd Do Anything for Love (But I Won't Do That)", the Sisters of Mercy's "This Corrosion" and "More", Barry Manilow's "Read 'Em and Weep", Celine Dion's cover of "It's All Coming Back to Me Now". It's all got this signature theatrical sound to it.
actually, when he was a little boy he was a chunky kid and his dad called him meat and it stuck with him and then the coach started calling him meatloaf. but when he started his singing career no one wanted to sign him because of his size and said he his voice was too much like an opera singers voice, he then was hurting for money so bad living in a car or where ever he could crash when he got the chance to work on the rocky horror picture show and his manager told him if he did the show, that he would never be able to recover from it because he played a bicker drag queen.
You're over explaining everything and I can feel her pain everytime you distract her but she's too polite to tell you stop. As a viewer I can tell you it's very annoying.
07:36 Black Box with 'Ride On Time' springs to mind. Also Heaven 17 used a model in their video for 'Temptation', rather than the actual singer (Carole Kenyon?), but that may have been about availability rather than looks.
I completely agree with the song giving you chills. It is one of my absolute all time favorite songs. My second favorite song is also a Meatloaf song. Back in the 90's when I was 12, my dad introduced me to his bat out of hell cassette. I broke the cassette from listening to it. Ever since that day I love all of his music. I was mercilessy teased in high school for it lol.
They did the same bait-n-switch (Bat-n-switch?) with the female vocals/vocalist on the song that "started it all" - Paradise By The Dashboard Light from the 1977 Bat Out Of Hell album - The women heard on the song is Ellen Foley, but the woman appearing in the video was Karla DeVito, who actually does do vocals on other Meat Loaf songs (from lesser-known albums). Seems this is a "thing" with meat Loaf songs, lol.
I remember commenting on when you did it on your own and saying it’s an amazing video and I love a bit of Meatloaf. I also think I said that there’s a guy who does a tribute show here in the UK and has Lorraine Crosby join him and sing this with him and a few other meat songs as well as getting her to sing a couple of Bonnie Tyler songs who Jim Steinman also produced a couple of albums for in between Bat Out of Hell and Bat Out of Hell 2. Good on you Annie for saying Lorraine should have been on the vid and maybe listen listen to some other Meatloaf songs as well Annie and maybe some Bonnie Tyler stuff as well as Jim Steinman wrote and produced stuff for her as well. I also got to see the Bat Out of Hell musical a couple of years back in London which was awesome.

the real singer is named Lorraine Crosby and she is quite the looker if I do say so, so the reason seems like it was her wish, she also sang vocals on other songs but was credited with her real name, her credited name in this video was ms loud

Newcastle England as was in a studio in America and meatloaf was there recording this song the female who was meant to sing on the track didn't turn up and he heard the other women and asked her to sing it and she has said in interviews she was never asked if she wanted to b in the music video

I don't know if 14 is too young for that "music is life changing" moment, but I hope not. It's great that you're exposing her to such a wide variety of artists and styles. There's nothing quite like that moment when you finally click with a group, or a song, and it actually changes you in a fundamental way. I think for me it was hearing "How Soon is Now" by the Smiths back in 1987. It was one of the first times that a song really spoke to me in a way that no others hadn't. I was only 18 at the time, and still trying to figure out who I was as a person.
The Female Vocalist on this video is English singer Lorraine Crosby , She later in 2013 auditioned in The Voice UK and sang " Midnight train to Georgia " and despite doing a good job none of the 4 chairs turned for her the judges were Will.I.am , Jessie J , Sir Tom Jones & Danny Donoghue from The Script . ua-cam.com/video/M0kI1_Y9-3A/v-deo.html

I originally don't care for reaction videos, but I do enjoy watching videos of kids reacting to the music that I an my parents grew up with. I grew up on 90s alternative, but I've since gotten into classic rock. Great song.
With regards to the name Meat Loaf, his father called him "Meat" since he was a baby. Due to the fact, he was a large baby and very red when he was born and looked like a pile of meat in his fathers eyes. The Loaf part was added when he stepped on his football coach foot in high school, the teacher shouted "get off me you big meatloaf" and the nickname stuck. Although he insists that "meat" and "loaf" are two seperate words, and he preferred to be called just "Meat"
I was about her age when this song came out. And it was that type of song you would never admit to like in school but you've got the whole album at home.
Good reaction but only thing I don't like is the dad explaining his thoughts of the song beforehand. If it a 'fourteen year old reaction' make it a 'fourteen year old's reaction'. The problem with putting your view of a song is that everyone has a different view of a song, that is why some of the old singers didn't like videos because it put a idea of what the song was about in the listener's mind. It would be better if she listened to the song put her reaction and view of the meaning of the song THEN have the dad's opinion and discuss the different views. Plus let her listen to the song instead of keep chirping in with 'oh this part always gives me goosebumps' not really important, let her listen to the song. Just a bit of friendly criticism lol. Just as a side mention: The female singers on the studio album and on the live shows were different (on the first Bat Out of Hell album at least). The woman who sang on the album couldn't or didn't want to tour with the band so a replacement singer was found. As far as I know though the new singer did sing and not lipsync during the shows.
How has it taken this long for Annie to watch this video, from the moment a baby opens it's eyes they should watch every Meatloaf video non stop. She should also have listened to the music in the womb, That's just good parenting.
It's a great song, one that relaunched Meatloaf's career. Fun fact: Meatloaf's daughter, Pearl, toured with him as the lead female vocalist in the late 1990's/ early 2000's. It made doing this song, and Paradise by the Dashboard Lights a bit challenging. Side fact: Pearl is the wife of Anthrax guitarist, and founding member, Scott Ian. Would love to see her reaction to Paradise by the Dashboard Lights, since it is similar to I Would Do Anything for Love (But I Won't Do That).
Meatloaf sang a song in Rocky Horror Picture Show, in fact he sang a song they didn't think could be finished but he did, it is there on the net if you look for it both the song and the story, don't expect anyone to believe me but I do hope they would check before any put downs.
Actually he was making big videos and live Broadway show spitical concerts before the tweeny Taylor Swifts lol. And Meatloaf was a band not just him. As the female singer shared co-lead vox on most if the songs.
the music you have to remember is Jim Steinmen which is always big and story telling, the reason Meatloaf disipeared in the 80s is that he had a breakdown and couldn't perform you also have to remember Meatloaf is first an actor then a singer if you didn't know he was in the musical Hair out in Ca. in the early 70s
Don't forget Donny Osmond's Soldier of Love. When it was first played, the dj didn't tell people who was singing because of his previous squeaky clean reputation.
It's kind of weird...you wouldn't think a couple minutes in a song would make a difference, but story wise, the difference in the studio version and the video are night and day IMO.
I love the Beauty and the Beast theme of the video because that story has always resonated with me with being about a guy who made one mistake and was in a tortured existence and then finally finding a girl who loved him being a tortured dark and ugly individual to mainstream society
If Jim Steinman ever wrote a commercial jingle the commercial would end up being three and a half minutes long, contain destruction, conflict, an epic romance, and a purchase.
lady who song on this song is from the u.k ,wales they asked her to be in the video but she declined because she thought she wasnt pretty enough but she regrets not being in the video because of how succesful it became n the model in the video gets all the credit as they think its her singing.
It’s common knowledge that when a parent talks in front of a teenager for more then 2 minutes they will automatically tune u out & eyes will glaze over.
It's common knowledge that people use then where than should be.
Lol

Dude ! You wouldn’t last a day in prison with a cell mate ! 🙉🙉🙉🙉🙉🤣
Dude you're stopping the video so much that your daughter can't even get into it!!!! Save your stuff for the end
I agree with your daughter. STOP!! You want her reaction of first time listening, and you can't shut up long enough.
I will not stop dreaming about you, is the THAT! Is what Meatloaf proclaimed in an interview!
Still an amazing song! I know Meat Loaf also as a crazy guy called Red in the movie "Black Dog" .
I always thought he was a vampire, and would do anything for love, except turn her. Notice the 3 "brides" in the one scene?
That's EXACTLY what I've always thought...seems obvious!
I was just thinking you should play her some Rick Astley!
No no no, please no no!
That would be child abuse, för gods sake
Where have you guys gone??🤨🤨🤨 I haven't seen anything from you guys for ages now.Hope you guys are doing ok, Annie's reaction is awesome 👍👍
Haha she totally gave you the teen eyes. I'll be there before I know it. Keep up the good work, everybody!
I LOVE how you are totally rocking out the whole time!! Me too!!
If you watch the live version she is the actual singer, not just video model.
Would love to see her reaction to Paradise by the Dashboard Lights, since it is similar to I Would Do Anything for Love (But I Won't Do That).
come on dad, let her react!
Annie is the sweetest when she bursts out laughing (i dont know half the time what for, before she explains)😁🥰
Bat Out of Hell is just an amazing album.
the music you have to remember is Jim Steinmen which is always big and story telling, the reason Meatloaf disipeared in the 80s is that he had a breakdown and couldn't perform you also have to remember Meatloaf is first an actor then a singer if you didn't know he was in the musical Hair out in Ca. in the early 70s
I'm totally a cleaning song person and I never thought of this as a cleaning song but I'm gonna try it. See how it works.
Please more Meat Loaf. So glad I had the opportunity to see him twice live. The best concert was with Patti Russo as his partner.
She must have heard parts of the song, it’s been used in M&M candy commercials for years
She need to listen to the original album version. 12 minutes!
BOH parts 1&2 are both straight up rock opera. LOVE IT!!!
lady who song on this song is from the u.k ,wales they asked her to be in the video but she declined because she thought she wasnt pretty enough but she regrets not being in the video because of how succesful it became n the model in the video gets all the credit as they think its her singing.
Dana Patrick is the "model" in the video. Lorraine Crosby (billed as Mrs Loud) is the female lead.
You need to show her some of his concert footage from the 70's.
I was much happier not knowing this was directed by Michael Bay.
