Kobe went to three straight finals after Shaq left, he lost to Boston in 08, beat Orlando in 09, and got his revenge on Boston in 2010. Kobe three year run to the finals is undervalued and taken for granted.

@@brandoncooper439 thing is there is no 3 peat without Kobe. Yeah Shaq dominated the finals but Kobe did work in the West series as well, where the real competition was. Can’t take away the three peat he contributed significantly to as a young player. Even Stephen A often says Lebron had to join Wade to learn how to win. What you’re ignoring is that the Heat were heavy favorites to win titles because nobody in the league could match up talent wise. Dwayne was top 5 in the league at the time, Bosh was one of the best bigs in the game. It’s a fair comparison. Fact is while being the overwhelming favorites, the Heat lost two finals and barely beat the Spurs in 2013. Nobody ever brings up how all of Lebrons championships were won by jumping from team to team and immediately acquiring all star talent. Even with the Lakers he attempted more superteams with Russ and was even begging Kawhi to join him. This dude is all time at running away from the grind.

Kobe absolutely has an easy case in the top 5.
If we’re being real Kobe has the second best NBA performance ever based on the “game score” stat. Second only to MJ’s 69 point masterpiece against the Cavs. So only one player in history has proven to have a bigger one game impact than Kobe, everyone else is several levels below him.
Kobe also has the highest pace adjusted PPG in nba history, not even Wilt or Jordan were quite the explosive scorer Kobe was.
Kobe scored 81 points, the highest since wilt in 1962!!!! Arguably the greatest game ever played and inarguably a truly remarkable record.
Kobe’s 9 strait 40 point games is the highest since Jordan did the same thing in 1986!!!!
I don’t wanna type an essay, but Kobe beat more elite competition than anyone and at his peak was as good as anyone who’s played, besides MJ out of respect for the goat.
I’d probably put him 3rd. Out of every all time player, Kobe’s career is the most misunderstood and disrespected. There’s a reason most hold Kobe and Jordan in such high regard, objectively no one else in history had the impact they had, especially in dominating one game.
I don’t think anyone was really better at basketball than Kobe, besides Jordan due to extreme physical gifts (huge hands + ridiculous athleticism + supreme skill)

@@cozyfades1587 That's your opinion. The NBA today is a joke in my opinion.
Anyone can drop 30-10-10, due to no defense, high pace, blatant travels and carries not being called, etc. It's just an absolute circus.
It seems like you looked up the game score stat, which is good, but what you must understand is that the stat doesn't take into account PACE OF PLAY. Kobe did it in the slowest era of all time. Once you adjust for pace of play Kobe blows even MJ out of the water, as the 2000's were the slowest era in NBA history. Mitchell had a great game, but once adjusted for pace its value takes a big hit.
I think he definitely has a case over Bron and Kareem, but If someone has Kareem two that's fine to me. But Kareem won one title before Magic got there, so people need to really do some research when discussing Kareem, greatest center of all time though imo.
The media has been brainwashing most fans for a very long time. I believe Kobe's career is misunderstood by 90% of fans, and they have been told for a long time that Kobe is "inefficient", or "got carried by Shaq". Sad but I'll educate those that need it.

My problem with this is that there are a lot of factors and it’s honestly an unfair comparison to compare players who played at different times, even with overlap. Rules change, style of play changes, etc. The pace today is higher and players shoot more 3s. In ‘96 (when Kobe was drafted) coaches didn’t let rookies play much so out of the gate LeBron had an advantage on individual accomplishments. LeBron played with super teams once he went to Miami and in an easier conference. His greatest competition was Boston who only won once and Toronto who never made it to the Finals. Kobe played in a tough western conference and actually did well against the Spurs. Something no one else in this conversation can say. Kobe’s best teammate in his post Shaq career was Gasol. Gasol was a great player, but he wasn’t D Wade, AD, or Kyrie. Kobe has the most wins against 50 win teams in the playoffs - a record that should hold for a long time. When they actually guarded each other (not just playing in the same game) Kobe won those head to heads despite being smaller. I think the main difference between the two is that LeBron is a better floor raiser. He’ll get your team to go deep in the playoffs no matter what the roster is - almost guaranteed. Kobe though is the one who once your team is good enough to be a title contender is going to get a win more times than not. His 2 losses in the Finals were against the Celtics who also beat LeBron and the Pistons when he had a toxic locker room (feuds with Shaq and Karl Malone) and off the court distractions (rape trial). Which by the way, that rape trial is when the media turned on him. No player has 12 All NBA defensive awards while also having 30k points. I didn’t even get into adjusting numbers for pace or style of play (guys shoot more 3s now and also shoot them at higher percentages because they take more of them). At the end of the day, you had to watch them both play and there is no right answer, but Kobe belongs in the conversation despite what stats may say. Otherwise if you want to be so attached to stats without context then Wilt is the GOAT.

For those old enough to remember. The nba went into panic mode once Jordan retired the first time. That's when "who is the next Jordan" took off. That's when "There will never be another Jordan" commenced. However this is purely an emotional and subjective topic. No matter who is on ur list. No matter which side of the fence we are on. I do think MJ is better btw overall, but you gotta admit LeBron is better than 39 yr old MJ on Wash. Granted, I was old enough to catch end of his time in Chicago. He's the GOAT. I'd even argue Kobe had a stronger mental than LeBron. LeBron was still the superior player though. I feel pretty confident with modern day guys late 90s-present..MJ, LeBron, Duncan, Kobe, Steph, Shaq. Those are the 6 best in my lifetime. KD, Dirk, Wade, KG, Malone would be other considerations. With old heads, I never saw them play..so I'm just basing it off stats/accolades. I guess we can agree to disagree on LeBron

Yeah guys had great years also during this period but Kobe showcased unbelievable scoring ability, defensive prowess, and leadership. Kobe Bryant possessed the most refined and versatile skill set in the history of the game. His footwork, mid-range game, and basketball IQ were unparalleled. LeBron James didn’t truly emerge as the NBA’s best player until around 2011/2012 this period of sustained dominance sets Kobe apart. Let alone the era of the 2000s had one of if not the slowest pace of play, team ppg, iso scoring ect, Kobe Led the 2000s in ppg also was all nba defensive 1st team in those years not only leading the offense but also leading the defense taking on the other teams best player.

Forget about the number of rings and other accomplishments. Let’s talk about basic skill, or rather, the lack thereof in LeFraud's case. It's clear as day that Kobe was lightyears ahead of LeBronze in terms of sheer basketball prowess.
LeBronze can only score most of his points by driving to the rim. It's like watching a one-trick pony in action. Sure, he's got the build of a freight train, but when it comes to actual skill, he falls way short.
Let's start with the basics: shooting. While Kobe was draining silky smooth jumpers from all over the court, LeChoke struggles to hit a mid-range shot without looking like a deer caught in headlights. He heavily relies on driving to the rim for scoring. His shooting abilities are inconsistent. His mid-range game lacks finesse, and his post moves are underdeveloped. Additionally, his free throw shooting has been a weakness throughout his career.
And let's not forget about footwork and finesse. Kobe had the grace of a ballet dancer combined with the precision of a surgeon. His footwork was a work of art, allowing him to create separation from defenders and hit those jaw-dropping shots. But LeBronze? Well, he's more like a bull in a china shop, finesse is a foreign concept to him.
Furthermore, let's talk about killer instinct. When the game is on the line, and everything is at stake, LeFrozen seems to fade into the background. Kobe, on the other hand, had an insatiable hunger for victory. He wanted the ball in his hands, and he wanted to take the last shot. He relished the pressure and thrived in those high-pressure moments. LeBronze, well, he seems content with passing the ball or deferring to others when the going gets tough. He melts under the spotlight while Kobe thrived, hitting iconic contested shots and carrying his team to victory.
But hey, at least LeQueen can dish out some flashy passes, right? Well, let's not get carried away, his passing is more about brute force than finesse. It's like watching a quarterback throw a Hail Mary pass every time he makes a play. Sometimes it works, but more often than not, it's just a reckless display of power. He can't hold a candle to Magic Johnson. Magic's artistic flair, court vision, and ability to control the game through his passing set him apart as the greatest playmaker in the game.
Not to mention defense, while LeBronze is often praised for his physicality on the court, his defensive prowess completely falls short when compared to the likes of Kobe. When it comes to lockdown defense, Kobe was a defensive juggernaut. His tenaciousness on the defensive end was legendary, earning him numerous NBA All-Defensive Team selections. Kobe's footwork, combined with his defensive instincts and competitive fire, allowed him to frustrate and disrupt even the most skilled offensive players.
Now, let's turn our attention to LeSoft. His defensive lapses, lack of consistent effort, and questionable decision-making on that end of the court have been evident. Unlike Kobe, who embraced the challenge of guarding the opposing team's best player, LeBronze has often shied away from such assignments. His defensive contributions have mostly revolved around chasing down opponents for highlight reel blocks, rather than consistently locking down his man or being a disruptive force.
It's important to note that defense is not solely about individual accolades or highlight plays. It's about consistently making a significant impact on that end of the court, shutting down opponents, and being a leader on defense. Once again, LeBronze falls short compared to the defensive legacy left by Kobe.
*Conclusion:* When it comes to skill alone, LeBronze is like the kid who brings a water gun to a paintball match. He may have some "impressive" numbers and highlight reels, but when you break it down, it's clear that Kobe was on a completely different level. LeBronze's reliance on brute force and lack of true skill make him the odd one out in this conversation about greatness.

Your logic makes no sense. “Kobe won with a prime shaq” but Magic & Kareem never get accused of this! They each get full credit somehow? Kareem’s first 10 years in he only had 1 ‘chip & 4 of those MVP’s came pre ABA/NBA merger when half of the best players in the world are were in another league where Dr. J was clearly the best player on the planet (and the 70’s btw). Dr. j was winning MVP’s & ‘Chips in the ABA & his first year in NBA went to the Finals & Lost to Blazers & Bill Walton (who was considered the best C in the league above Kareem at that time). If Kareem didn’t get Magic, he’d have only 1 ‘chip & only 2 post-merger MVP’s. No one ever had him over Dr. J in the 70’s. Magic played with more HoF’s & all-stars than anyone. Magic was a better rebounder & passer. That’s it! He had Cap to lead firmly & he could be free. Kobe was a better ball handler, shooter, finisher, defender, had better footwork & work ethic than Magic. Stop it!! Kobe & Zeke are the only multiple time champs with no other top 75 player on their team. Kobe had Pau and won 2/3! Against 4 HoF’s. Dont even try to bring up Kareem’s HS & College accolades because 1960’s HS & College basketball was so primitive, Angel Reese would average 30ppg against his competitors lol. The stats are misleading because he didn’t play his first 2 years under Dell Harris & last 3 years were marred by an achilles injury. From ‘98-‘13 he averaged more ppg than LeBron & Durant did for their careers. Also, got 3rd in DPOY in ‘02 behind Ben Wallace & KG. Also, he should have 3 regular season MVP’s, you know that! Robbed! People even "experts" don't watch or play basketball, they read and compare stats.
I'm not even going to go mention accolades because if we're measuring accolades then we're not naming the best player we're talking about the most decorated player.. and then Bill Russell should be number one, but he isn't either.
As a basketball players both *Kobe Bryant & Michael Jordan perfected the game* , there was not a flaw in their games, both Kobe & Michael competed in tougher eras...
Michael literally competed against people trying to physically hurt him & Kobe competed and peaked in the 'deadball era' when hardly ever there were games finishing with one team scoring 100 points he was doing superhuman stuff like outscore the entire Mavericks (Dec. 20th, 2005) squad that went to the finals.. (in that season)
Everyone wants to bring 'mr selfproclaimed' into the conversation...maybe because he has an "sports"/media agency pushing, creating and paying for a narrative; but wasn't Mr selfproclaimed the guy that couldn't win a gold metal in the world cup and the Olympics, ehen it was his turn?.. wasn't until Kobe showed up that it was proven who was the real alpha?
Kobe was such an alpha that kicked SHAQ out of the Lakers and refused to play with another superstar (he blocked KG to the lakers because he knige had to do it alone, somethytge other guy has never even consider) because he wanted to win it all without any asterisk... KOBE WANTED TO DEFEAT THE BEST, NOT TO JOIN THEM.
Now if we're talking about field goal percentage, true shooting.. again this is almost a different sport, games nowadays finish with teams scoring up to 300 points combined... BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY....
Are we going to compare dunks and lays up during the (the last decade) softest defensive era ever when he (mr selfproclaimed) is been sourrouded for an entire decade by other superstars (more offensively gifted than him) in superteams assambled by him????
vs contested mid and long range jumpshots during the last real defensive era????
Kobe is, was, has always been a better shooter, a better defender, has/had better handles, better footwork and is more sports pshyco... He is willing to sacrifice himself for a victory like maybe nobody has ever before... Are going to talk about how he won a championship with a broken finger (broken index in his shooting hand Dec 11, 2009) during the 2010 during the playoffs & finals run???
Mr selfproclaimed... Not only is not a real alpha.. he looks up for excuses... BUT SOMETHING NOBODY TALKS ABOUT.. is how he is constantly traveling.. the NBA allows him to get away with it, but realistically from a purist point of view he has NO BAG whatsoever... poor handles, horrible footwork, he is a bad shooter..(and it has gotten better)... He is physically an unstoppable animal.. but he is heavily favored by today's rules... He has NO midrange, no jumpshot... He is an average (now he was terrible back then) free throw shooter... Is he really the second best player ever???? NO HE IS NOT... Not in accolades, (especially if we add the context) "he allowed" (not really Steph earned it) an average sized guy drafted to the worst team team in the last decades prior to him to establish an entire dinasty by changing not just the league.. But the whole sport.. all in allegedly "his" era. (*this is actually Steph's era and people in the future will realize*)
    *1 MJ
    2 KOBE
    3 STEPH.
    ALL TIME, ALL TIME.*

Kobe biggest weekness was making his teammates better and his shot selection while arguably having a top 5 player of all time as a teammate for his first three chips that’s why he can’t be 2 if most of his finals he wasn’t even the best player

Wtf are you talking about, kobe had Pau gasol sure, but the rest were dime a dozen players, he took the Killer Bs to back to back championships, by your logic Lebron is automatically out of top 5 because he had 2 other superstars to play with throughout most of his career
