    nice video, thanks!
    just a comment needed: the stock map for ecu restore is not actually pulled out from the ECU, but downloaded from the upmap server. In this manner you are 100% sure to always have the latest map update. So it's not really important to backup it prior to do the ECU flash with custom map. You can do anytime ;-)

    • @cwhitty05
      @cwhitty05  2 роки тому +1

      I didn’t use the Gabro tune, because the T800 comes with one race map from Aprilia, and one Gabro tune of my choice. I planned on installing the RSV4 airbox on the bike and using Gabro’s tune for his airbox. So I didn’t want to waste my one free Gabro tune on just the slip on. However, he commented on this video saying that his airbox is different and his tune wouldn’t work with it, so I now plan on switching to Gabro’s tune for just the slip on. Good question! Thanks for watching.

    I'm considering the Upmap for my '17 RSV4 . All I have right now is a slip on SC Project Race Oval and the Aprilia Race ECU. The bike idles fine and is fast but there's a lot of juddering between on and off acceleration. Did you notice any of that before you installed the Upmap ?

    • @cwhitty05
      @cwhitty05  Рік тому +1

      I did notice it has a twitchy throttle, but I trained my hand to be smooth and that made the biggest difference. Compared to the race ecu, Gabro’s maps feel smoother with the on/off throttle as well as power delivery and engine starting. Since you have the race ecu, changing maps isn’t a necessity, but if you want a smoother bike, then Gabro’s map can definitely help.

    • @cwhitty05

      Sounds like maybe the t800 was used on a different bike. A t800 once paired to a specific motorcycle will only be able to be used on that motorcycle, and can never be used on a different one. The solution would be to buy a new t800.

    • @cwhitty05
      @cwhitty05  11 місяців тому

      I have heard of some horror stories from guys saying Aprilia will void the warranty for people flashing their ECUs. I’ve also heard it not being a problem. I think it depends on the dealer. I’d say if you have an electrical problem, or a coolant leak, or something unrelated to the engine, they shouldn’t deny the claim, because obviously the ECU has nothing to do with a situation like that, but I’m sure if the engine blows up, they will deny it. User discretion is advised. I didn’t really care about the warranty, because I do my own work, and most dealers are so backed up with work, it takes 6 months just to get an appointment. I’d rather spend the money on the parts and fix it myself than wait 6 months for some entry level technician at a dealer with minimal experience to mess up my bike trying to put it back together.

    • @cwhitty05
      @cwhitty05  2 роки тому +1

      The redline has always been around 12k. I think the rev limiter is actually slightly lower than the redline, maybe 11,800, but I haven’t really paid attention to the rev limiter rpm. I think you may be thinking of the RSV4. I believe that engine goes to 14k, or very close.

    • @lfperformance
      @lfperformance 2 роки тому +1

      @@cwhitty05 Mala is right. At 15:50 you can see the redline at 14k (12k is yellow). If you go to 18:00, yellow now starts at 10k and redline starts at 12.k, so there was a "loss" of 2k revs between those two screens.

    • @cwhitty05
      @cwhitty05  2 роки тому +1

      @@lfperformance Wow, yeah that’s interesting! I think it’s because the ECU isn’t talking to the CAN bus. You can see the alarm at 15:50. When the ECU isn’t talking to the bus, I bet the cluster defaults to the maximum it can display. If you watch my walk-around video, which was before I did the flash, you can see the redline is 12k.
