Hey lock noob could you do a video of how to crack a brinks 3 digit combination on the the side. I can't get my brinks lock unlocked because I scrabbled the code and I forgot the code
It's an incredibly addictive feeling/hobby. When I got back into the hobby a couple of weeks ago, me and the missus were on a 5 hours drive to see family, so I bought a couple locks to tinker with on the way using my new pick set. I ended up asking her to find a Target or Walmart an hour in because I wanted new locks due to having popped the ones I had quite easily many times already. Enjoy!
@@iyeetsecurity922 Yeah, I get the feeling, since then I got a nice beginner pick set and I've started harassing my family to check if they have unused locks in their garage ^^' It turned out, my father had a lot ! I'm having a lot of fun, thanks !
Just bought a cheep lock pick kit, came across your channel and you explain the process better than all the others, thanks mate I picked my first lock because of your expertise in explaining 👍
As a Noob i have had my Lockpicks for many years no brand names, and now love this sport. Your videos are ACE and very informative. Thank you for sharing it with those of us who scratch our heads. I can now unlock most padlocks with relative ease and am now looking to move to Dimple locks. see your good you are.
I spent about 2 hours watching videos and trying to pick my bike lock, after I previously changed the combination and forgot it. It looks the same as your pink lock, so wish I had seen this video first. It has some false gates which through me off for a while, but eventually I worked out the exact technique that you explained. Makes me appreciate the skills that you have, and created a bit of an addiction to watch skilled pickers on youtube, thanks.
I had an expensive Samsonite combination lock that was accidentally set to some unknown combination. I stopped using it but it was still in my drawer. I was thinking of approaching Samsonite. Just opened it after watching your video twice. Thank you very much God bless you.
I went for a bobby pin and found the lock packaging with the combination code written on it. So, I didn't end up cracking the combination the fun way, but the lock works again, thanks to your video!
Interesting video. I don't run into many combination locks here, last one was a really high end briefcase with a terrible lock on it. I was able to decode it just by sight. Was happy and sad at the same time. Found it in an illegally dumped pile of garbage on one of my clients properties. Happy because the case had identifying documents as to who did it. Sad because it was far too easy to open. Lol Hope everyone is staying safe. Take care.
DUDE! YOU ARE THE MAN! You made complete sense, and as a result...I finally can do it.! Thanks! It's is seriously so much fun. I will continue to progress to harder locks. Thank you. I HAVE A REAL CONSTRUCTIVE HOBBIE!
Another great 👍 concentrated topic! Well explained with all the important details one needs to confidently approach these lock systems. Sincerely appreciate these sessions Ash (like your disk detainer series). Please keep these quality trainings coming!
What a great locksport video! Placing all of the various techniques into a single video is not only useful from an organizational sense, it also provides the context needed to gain a more general understanding of the combination padlock design and resulting decoding strategy. Each of the specific techniques serves as another example of the general approach to decoding combination padlocks. The pedagogy is excellent. The student is shown different techniques for different locks and leaves with a valuable understanding of the entire class of combination padlocks and will thus be well prepared to decode other locks of this class. This is master level locksport, far above the typical "How to bypass a 175 combination padlock" videos.
I have another technique to distinguish true and false gates and I find it quicker and easier. Use a feeler guage down the side of the wheel you decode and pull shackle really hard. In a true gate no matter how hard you try to open it, the feeler guage won't be pinched and will remain sliding loose in the gap.
On the masterlock that opens to have a set of keys inside and fits on a doorknob, that's an older real estate type lock and notoriously easy to open. I saw anothr viideo and all you need is a pair of sissors, an empty soda can and about ten minutes time. Probably a store brand or cheaper brand of soda will work better as the metal is thinner. You simply make a shim, cut it with scissors until it's narrow enough, if you want to get fancy, bend the end over to make a nice little handle and put it to the left of the wheel. Push a bit of resistance going down. You simply have to push it and let it sit. When you turn the wheel and find the flat spot, it will drop. You can confirm by moving the wheel to another number and it goes up. On this masterlock, you generally have the right combination but not the right set of numbers. Three is usually the amount of clicks you need to move to get it to open. I recommend after finding these sweet spots to move each dial one number each at a time. So, 0000, move to 1111. It should open after doing this three times. If you get it backwards, maybe seven. I am not a lock picker, a thief or have much knowledge on this other than a contractor installed this on my door to let the workers in. Mistake one is they set the code to the four number address. Mistake number two, most of their very talented crew from hanging around Home Depot knows this. It's not like hanging the set of keys on a nail outside the door. To a thieft it's hanging a sign of here's the keys and you can get to them within two to four minutes. Absolutely crazy that this contractor uses this cheap lock. Guess who has to piick up the pieces if you get robbed?
On the Abus 165/40mI also noticed that when the wheels are not in a true gate, if you hold shackle tension and rotate up a half turn and release, these is no spring and the dial stays in place - conversely, the true gate causes the dial to spring back to the previous position. A little tricky to explain so I might record an episode at some point to demonstrate the idea.
Thank you. I just convinced dad to change his combination type locks, handing them to him opened after a few minutes of youtube and a few minutes of turning xD false gate ones but seriously i didnt even need to finish this vid just scrolled to the one looking similar
Awesome video! It was really cool seeing all the techniques in one video. I always try to pick along with you and my left thumb is killing me from holding the shackle open on those small locks! Worth it though.
had some trouble figuring out this TSA lock actually. It's a 3 digit combo dial lock but the shackle is a cable and there's a button on the side you push to release the cable/shackle. So pulling on the shackle didn't help, and you have to push the button insanely hard and that doesn't even work doesn't really do anything to the dials. However I did find that under the right angle of light you can see the inner wheels and as you turn them you will see little circle shaped divots in the metal, put all the dials on those number and then turn the wheels 2 digits up. That's the combo. It took me a few hours to figure that out because my eyes are crap, but I eventually did it. First combo lock I've ever decoded. Picked a lot of locks, but never could decode one.
No wonder all the locks from England are so easy to open, there combo's are all set to zero! LOL Some really good info in this video, wish you had a cheat card we could print out saying "Lock brand A do this method". Thanks for taking the time to put this all together.
The tip about if it "wiggles" alot really helped me, going from top to bottom i tried to find the one that wiggled the most. The top one always wiggled so i knew that was a real gate, the second one also wiggled, the third one didnt, the fourth one did. Then i changed so the thrid one wiggled, but then the fourth one didnt wiggle, but when i changed the number so that started wiggling again it opened lol.
In grade school, I drove my bike to school maybe five times and used one of the then ('70s) ubiquitous chain and barrel combination locks. At least three of those times, when I got out at the end of the day, the lock was gone and my bike was still there. So, even non-bike thieves found them too easy to pass up.
Abus have a cool defence that requires a different technique. Ironically, mine got stolen when the cable got cut, along with my crap bike. They put slopes on the false gates. Squire do very good one too.
For anyone trying the shackle pull (bike lock). I got it to work with a good Kryptonite lock. Trick was applying way more pulling force than you think you need to do. I literally had my right foot in the cable while pulling with my right hand while turning dials with my left hand. My wife went from laughing at me to quickly thinking I was the shiz 😂
After seeing this video and now that I think about it, combination locks and disc detainer locks work mostly on the same principle, the difference is that the first let you operate from the outside while the other let you work from the inside to open it. That make me wonder how the other type of locks would work with the same inside out idea
Great video 👍,I really like the lock pick then disassembled videos Have you done a video of you decoding the big silver squire padlock at the start if this video, (top right) . I have one and have tried the shackle pull method, the wheels are really close together ,I couldn't get a pick down the side of them.
I had a Cocraft 300C with four wheels that was impossible to feel the difference from false gate and true gate. My only way was to find all the false gates in each position and then brute force from first possible combination to all combinations. In my case the false gates included true was odd numbers on wheel 1, even on 2 and 3 and odd on forth wheel. This gave me possible numbers 13579, 24680, 24680 and 13579 on last wheel. Then I started with first digit on each wheel 1221, next 1223, 1225, 1227, 1229 and then 1241 and so on. The number of combinations was by this method was reduced from 10000 to only 625 combinations. I was lucky and lock opened at 3001. 😀

Thanks Noob, great vid. I’ve just decoded my daughter’s bike lock similar to the pink one you did (but five dial). She’s impressed but also not impressed 😜
I have to open a letterbox inbuilt combo lock. It felt awkward because I can only use a fingerprint type feel and not grasp the lock with full hands. Alas, I will persist with your tips. Thanks Mr.
Great video, nice and clear instructions. But why do you have must lock on codes like 0000? This will look better and more trusting if you just reset the lock to random code
I think he's kind of locks are best used for gym locker. Thinking take a bit of time to decode and a locker room is a high-traffic area so you just need something to deter someone from simply opening the locker. But I don't want to have a key on me in the gym for obvious reasons
You just changed how i view these combination locks (in terms of mechanics). Literally an eye opening video. (Although the pink bike lock was probably more 'eye searing' instead. 😉) Also, the bobby pin technique was new for me. Another great video. As far as security is concerned: I like the small guys for things like backpacks: They don't provide actual security but they'd force an 'attacker' to fiddle with them. So noone would just open the zippers and remove stuff from one of my backpacks unnoticed while walking behind me. Other than that i consider them to be more toys rather than anything else (or similar to a sign saying 'Just leave my stuff alone' in some rare cases).

Agreed. I have some super cheap locks that are far harder to decode due to false gates than much more expensive name brands that don't

I have to open a letterbox inbuilt combo lock. It felt awkward because I can only use a fingerprint type feel and not grasp the lock with full hands. Alas, I will persist with your tips. Thanks Mr.
Yup. This one. Master Lock wall safe. Line the dials up where they are loosest.
Great video, nice and clear instructions. But why do you have must lock on codes like 0000? This will look better and more trusting if you just reset the lock to random code
Thanks a lot, I managed to open my lock
Nice tuto. keep up.
Great video.
Thanks!
Couldn’t get it for love nor money. Used a big hammer. Worked perfectly.
What about if the padlock is OPEN ❓ how do you get the combination ?
Thanks you are very helpful
thanks. very epic video tutorial.

I swear that work with me .... unbelievable
Can you decoded the 175 (or in my case Masterlock 176) using the pull or push method, or do you HAVE to have a decoding tool?
Outstanding!
Thank you kindly!
Great video thanks
thanks man now I can open code lock almost always on 1 try
Great 👍
So if someone is dead set on a combination lock, are there standouts that are most manipulation/bypass resistant?
Thanks man!
Useful👍
Thanks!
Terimakasih sangat membantu walaupun sepertinya harus banyak banyak latihan GBU
