Would this device cause ice dams to form over it in the wintertime? I am not happy with my gutter guards and looking for alternatives.

Hi @Martlin, great question! Ice dams actually have little to nothing to do with your gutters or gutter guards. Ice dams usually form due to inadequate insulation in the roof space. Excess heat escapes through the roof and melts snow, which then flows down to the uninsulated edge of the roof, where it re-freezes. This happens over and over until a dam forms. We'd suggest having your insulation checked. Here's a video that illustrates the process.
