The V-notches keep the velcro from bunching up and making corners as it rounds the curvature of the helmet. Try and stick a strip of duct tape to a ball and watch what the sides of it do.
HHV fills a niche really well. There are unnamed chinese high cuts with terrible backface deformation that, depending on where it's sold, information on what the helmet actually is can be hard to figure out. HHV is very forthcoming and you know what you're getting beforehand. It's not claiming to be the latest and greatest compared to your $1000+ helmets, but it still provides good functionality and new features, and is run by actual humans
For Airborne the only authorized alternative is the Ops Core in the conventional world. If your JMs aren’t super attentive you might be fine, but the suspension harness will give it away.
Nice review, I believe some companies just charge and outrageous amount for their "carbon" etc. helmets just due to R&D costs and trying to innovate. This helmet looks like a pretty good steal and also like a more modern ACH helmet with better high cut and lower weight.
The are Militech Shells rebranded and upgraded with the accessories. If you only have $250 get a Militech. If you want a trusted brand and warranty. Get a HHV I have the Gen 1
Where is this info coming from? I've searched up and down and can't find that anywhere. It does look like Militech makes good stuff, especially their "Light" that's in the 2lb range
that helmet is very likely the same chinese crap that Btac and others sell as an Opcore knock off. The backface deformation on them will cause severe brain damage. If you want a helmet to larp, you can get a bump helmet for the same price that will actually protect your head if you take a dive, but if youre using it in any type of environment where ballistic threats are present, spend the few hundred extra if you value your brain
We just bought 10 of these for my department and I found through research they have their own two proprietary covers on their site as well as other upgrades in padding, storage, So far I’m happy with what we got. Their covers looks pretty good and would obviously be made to fit their own brand.
I’m all for buying American made, but let’s be real here. How many people whining about overseas stuff are shooting Glock or Sig? How many are driving a truck or car with overseas sourced parts? Where was your iPhone manufactured?
There is some misinformation in this video. The back face deformation info you are giving isn't entirely accurate. The "less than 25.4mm" BFD listed on their site for opscore, crye, and team wendy isn't actual test data. Rather, it is the maximum BFD standard that certain solicitations/contracts would allow. So to say that HHV performs better than an Opscore isn't exactly accurate.
Hey Joel you are correct, though it sure would be nice if they would show their actual test data as we do. The truth is poly made helmets save weight, but they also have significant downsides that no one wants to talk about.
As a fellow Guardsman, I encourage my Soldiers to think outside the box and make their lives better with quality gear. My battalion commander doesn't always agree with me that people should wear "non-issued" stuff, but he's not a big gear nerd like I am. My justification is that the Guard gets last pick at the newest gear and for us to be expected to perform like the active component, we need to level the playing field.
Ron Scooter just be careful depending on current ops and sops. You get got and you’re not wearing issued gear the military will fight the death benefits to your family.
How can I change out the chin strap on the HHV? I only was able to figure out the rear two screws I couldn’t figure out the front two. Thank you for the very informative video!
If you go to HHV’s website and look under tactical helmet accessories you see the rail adapter kit, if you scroll down under compatibility there is a link too unity tactical to find the ends
Not sure why not lol a lot of personnel within the units are government workers/LE on the outside, so I utilize my helmet for both instead of having to buy 2 for each
Getting injured wearing gear not issued by the military is a bad thing. Don't quote me on this, but I think you automatically wave your life insurance using non approved equipment by the military.
I don't know if you lose it just because you're using non approved equipment. I think it applies if you get hurt, or loss of life ( hopefully that's not the case )because of the equipment.

Just got my hard hat veterans helmet G2 Ballistic. Great video 👌
Thanks for this review. Subbed. HHV will get my money!
Thanks for the sub!

Cool video. Midwest Armor also makes a similar iiia helmet for $325. The Midwest Armor helmet also comes with the Ops Core X nape.

Two of my buddy’s I run with got HHV helmets, mine is on the way, and the opscore helmet covers fit perfect on the HHV helmets
@@HighMarshalSigismund fits the gen 2 as well ?!
When commenting on the weight you should give us the actual weight difference between the two helmets.
The Ops core SF runs at 1.3 to 1.4 lbs. The HHV is around 2.9 lbs. The Mich 2000 helmets run at about 4.1 lbs.
Would a team wendy cam-lock suspension fit these helmets?
Prob
Yes I have it in mine.
Man I wish u had a scale in this video

What suspension are you using with the Peltors shown in the video title still shot?
and has the iner been rplaced? Much appreciate the video!
Good show, thanks for sharing!

Thanks for this simplistic and informative video. Stay free brother. 👌👍
Where can I find MLOK adapters for Peltors? HHV are sold out.
I bought the hhv ones and they don't fit the peltors at all

Hey Noah, you have to pop off the rails as well!
pistol round only?
Its level 3a same you will find in team wendy, opscore whatever.
What type of glow marker is that on the helmet?
Does HHV install headphones with speakers and boom to helmet if you order it ??
Good review, thanks.
Will agilite or spiritus helmet covers that are deigned for ops core, team Wendy and mtek fit on a HHV lid?
They say on their site that most opscore stuff fits the HHV ATE helmet
Can you use the ops core lux worm dial liner with the HHV.
I am having trouble finding any adapter for the HHV for my MSA sordins.. any ideas? Thanks!
Zyklon HHV has them on their website
You can get the ends that fit the sordins from unity tactical
If you go to HHV’s website and look under tactical helmet accessories you see the rail adapter kit, if you scroll down under compatibility there is a link too unity tactical to find the ends
Ken Harrelson - I’ll second Unity Tactical
Where can I find the MLOC adapter for Sordins? Great Vid!!
Tyler Myers check out unity tactical MARK. It comes with some. If I’m not mistaken
I took the original pads out and put the upgraded pads in it's place, not on top of the original ones. Might fit better.
Good review i need one
What's the pack you got on the back of the helmet?
IR strobe, one of the older versions so it's kinda big.
And has anyone tried there comfort plus helmet pads? Are they $40 better then the ones it comes with?
Hard head looks like copy of Team Wendy.
I have a hard time believing anyone in the NG is authorized to wear these helmets.

It’s back FACE deformation, not back force.
The magnet is gonna fuck with compasses, shouldn’t have changed it
