    Buck I got your book Monday night and read the whole thing yesterday. The part where you talked about being in the kitchen making fries because you didn’t have food crushed my soul. I’ve been there man, even without knowing you I feel like I’ve known you my whole life. Seeing your own home and feeling anxious and scared was all too familiar for me. Thank you so much. I passed the book off to my girlfriend. You’ve done so much for me. This book was life changing!! I’m taming the dragon and accepting I’m broken.

    Long fix for the fitment issue: rehang the all 4 straps from the 2nd eyelet. This will shorten the entire strap system and allow you to use the slider buckles more effectively. I like to lock down the back set with tap so they dont pop open.

    I’ve has my HHV since the first gen 2 helmets came out. I totally agree with his review. I got a team Wendy cam fit helmet strap and it changed the helmet 100%. Helmet sits nice and won’t move when locked down. I’m a LEO and the ACH helmets we have are miserable compared to the HHV.

    Man i subbed to you a few months ago at 13k, and youre already at 50, thats wild but well deserved. You are one of the motivators that made me walk into that recruiters office and sign back up into the infantry. I’ve had an HHV helmet for about 6 months and I agree. It’s a great helmet, but it needs something like the cam fit system from team Wendy. The ability to micro adjust the strap tightness is such a game changer.

    Not going to lie, my favorite part of the helmet is the chin strap magnet. Genius. My favorite place for my beard to be is on my face, not in a chin strap getting ripped off my face if the strap pulls the wrong way. Keep up the reviews man, the tips and tricks (helmet tape!) are awesome!

    I have a 1st generation HHV ballistic helmet and i took it to Afghanistan while contracting. It was comfortable and was overkill for the job i was doing. of course, a few guys had their own fast helmet with electronic ear protection. We did a lot of comparison from each helmets guys brought such as an OpsCore, Team Wendy, HHV, and the army issued ACH we got. Me personally, I would get an OpsCore or Team Wendy (bye bye stimulus money haha) but my HHV gets the job done. No, I didn't add any electronic ear protection/comms, nvg mounts, lights, and etc. just plain and tan is all i need for now.

    Thanks much, because of how I run, there's lots of different stuff on my helmet. I run inside the ear, hearing protection, and run a good set of ballistic shooter glasses. My helmet only has a white light because that is what works for me. It's about how you are running. The equipment must fit what you do. There are times I must ditch the helmet and go forth.

      You probably know this but for the people who don't, HHV's helmets are manufactured in China and batch tested here. This may possibly matter to some people, as well as understanding that if you can get helmets made in America for the same price or less depending on the configuration, or get an untested Chinese helmet for half the cost direct if ballistic protection is just a "nice to have" and not a "I think it will determine if I live or die on a call" kind of thing.

    • @HardHeadVeterans
      @HardHeadVeterans 3 роки тому +3

      @@DaveSmith-cp5kj they are assembled in China currently with US materials and QC and batch tested here. We will be releasing a US made helmet out of our new TX warehouse later this year. You won't find a US made helmet for less than or very close to our price. We are expecting new helmet to run around $800 which is still half of what other US competitors run.

    • @DaveSmith-cp5kj
      @DaveSmith-cp5kj 3 роки тому +1

      @@HardHeadVeterans Oh I definitely understand that. You are bringing armor to people where it normally would be out of reach of their budgets.
      I have some Chinese helmets, however I use them as loaners and backups for my domestic helmet. I personally do not trust China at all, especially when the manufacturing is the most important part of rigid composite armor. I trust the USGI and LE rejects/expired that end up into surplus to the same level as new Chinese produced. Naturally I understand that in practice the products from China tend to be of sufficient quality when domestic QC checks are done to ensure honesty, but I don't feel comfortable using them as my go-to, and I'm willing to pay over 1.5k for new American because it will be the only thing protecting my head in the pinch. At that point cost is of no consequence compared to drain bamage, and warranty won't save me if if the helmet actually fails to do its job.
      While I already have a helmet, I know several guys who are shopping and I look forward to your domestic offering.

    I'm more worried about the ballistic protection. I heard from Mikey that the cheaper ones are basically the Chinese made ones which don't absorb as much.

      i've seen independent tests on these and yeah, apparently they seem to be Chinese made and does not meet the advertised protective levels, for example if you buy a level III HHV helmet, in actuality, it performs more like level IIIa.

    I wanna upgrade the retention system. Which one did you buy for the hard head veterans? There’s three different types. (Noob here).
    USMC ECH
    USMC LWH PASGT this the older helmets right?
    ACH/MICH, fast airframe
    I’m assuming the ACH is the one to buy for these type of helmets correct?

    What's your opinion on them using a cheap chinese manufactured helmet as the base, adding their own suspension system, and then selling it to you claiming it to be a superior product?

    I just finished your joint podcast with The Lead Wasps and enjoyed that one man. I'm curious though, did you ever have moments of distrust with the ANA? I can't remember who at the moment but I remember a SF guy who lost his leg and a few brothers to a rogue ANA guy.
    Oh and your book should be here Monday!

    Hey man! Loved the video, I did have a quick question though. I’m down range at the moment, and we’re all getting HHV helmets. However, I noticed the helmet looked huge on most of their heads and looked a bit bulky. Is there a solution to this or is it just them? Do you see the same thing I’m seeing or is this just the reality of all High-cut helmets? Any suggestions? Your response will be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time!

      the helmet padding leaves a little to be desired, i would try and find a new liner, maybe a suspended one, other than that it's awesome

    Hi Buck, I can't wait to see you blast the fuck outta it! I really want to get one of these but my only concern is the Chinese materials that they're made of. Love your vids man.

      They aren't made out of chinese material they're made out of DuPont Kevlar from USA assembled over in China

    I've been using one of these for a while and one of the first things i did was swap out the retention system for the Team Wendy version. Overall it's a nice lid. Better than my late 90s helmet. Permanent brain damage just from walking around with that thing on...

    Mine just came in and I like the build but the fit is definitely an issue. I got the pads sorta situated and the fit improved but it's still not great. I am debating buying HHV's back strap that is sorta a set and forget and is supposed to improve the fit strapped or not. Not sure how it affects with NODs and such. But with you recommending team Wendy's I might fork out an extra 50 and snag that instead.

      I'm having fit issues with mine as well. I did the measurements and all that, spoke with a guy, etc.
      Got the right size, but if I run no padding it just flops around.
      If I put the padding in, it seems like it sits too high and the balance is all off.
      Maybe the team Wendy suspension system will help out, I don't know. Kinda bummed for the money I spent though

    On another note a lot of people make claims that the HHV helmets that were NIJ tested were a "good batch" and the others are trash. I think this is BS so I look forward to your range test.

      There aren't "good and bad" batches... they are all the same material, assembly, etc.

      You will need to flip that switch and make a decision. Focus on relationships with people, your integrity, and how to be best person you can be. Not everyone is the same but at sixteen, there is no way I could have prepared by myself. Find a mentor!!!!
      And a side note, follow the law! Everything you do from here on out, you will have to explain why you did it.
