The detective was lying to everyone to protect her kid and hide his. The father worked on uncovering her lies to find his kid. She cropped out and edited evidence to try to convince David that she ran away or got murdered by someone else, but he pulled out information to prove this was false. Ngl I believe David should train on being an investigator/detective because of his quick thinking.

I’m actually shocked you’re surprised by this. You should watch actual REALY investigation shows like, “Crime Watch,” which can be watched for free on UA-cam. The parents are ALWAYS the ones to work the hardest, finding clues and turning stones, to determine what happened to their kids, regardless of how old the parents are or how old their kids were. So many times a murder was masked as a suicide, the parents would be completely doubtful, would notice the suicide note wasn’t even in their child’s handwriting and would launch a private investigation because the cops just deem it as suicide and move on

Whoa! That’s deep. Honestly, it’s hard for parents and teens to fully connect WITHOUT tragedy let alone with. This movie shows that even when a kid may think that their parents don’t know them that they could be right. Parents are only human and sometimes when their kids push then they step back and sometimes they just trust their kids without pushing for more details. As an adult, it would be nice if they took the lead in fostering a better relationship but sometimes they don’t know how. They can be just as confused about life in general as their kid. Sometimes kids need to be honest with their parents and tell them what’s needed.
This movie shows that when a teen thinks their parents don’t know them and can’t understand them that they might be right. However, if the kid thinks the parents don’t love them then they’re probably wrong! This shows a dad being fully involved to make sure his daughter is found safely

After they found out the detective was covering for her son, they were driving away from the cliff she was at, saying she’s likely dead anyways because it’s already been days and she would have dehydrated by now. It's important to note that it had been 5 days since she went missing, but one of the days, it was pouring rain and thus provided water for Margot to survive.

Edit: I'm not saying there isn't any movie or tv show that doesn't have a happy ending. I know there's plenty, I just can't think of any off the top of my head. It also doesn't help that I prefer horror and action type movies, and a lot of them sometimes doesn't have a happy ending.

you cut out alot of the ending :( i watched this like years ago and i remember them not looking for the body anymore at the cliff cuz she wouldve died of hunger, then the dad remembers a raining night that might've kept her alive and he goes back and finds her. thats what i kinda remember, the ending was really nice
