- Sport Compact cars are typically aimed at a specific crowd however they've evolved considerably over the years, and not so much. Despite being priced under $1,000 apart, the new 2022 Subaru WRX and 2022 Volkswagen Jetta GLI could not be more different even though they have common goals.

I evaluated the Civic si, Subaru wrx and the Jetta GLI 2024. I bought the Jetta and I love it! Brings a smile to my face, fun to drive and easy knobs to use. I drive in sport mode always. Thanks for a great review.
around 7:50 into the Video you stated the WRX has a 2 liter Engine, but it is a 2.4 Liter.........I know that you know this, but you don't want to confuse your viewers. Keep up the great content!
Damn... Kinda ashamed about this... Mistakes happen. Thanks for pointing it out.
@@mattst-pierre7758 Other than that silly mistake, the content rocks!
Love my mk7 jetta you nail it . I chose the gli over the wrx for all the options you get !
Me here drooling over the 9x7 that pulled a u turn
That rx7 in the background tho 👀
I like ur video very much and next time ur in the R section of Broussard stop on by, lol , keep putting out good content I'll keep watching
He did say 2.0 twice in the video. He had no clue it’s 2.4
The STI is a 2.4 the WRX is a 2.0
No clue
@@raquetballjunkie there is no sti in this gen. And the sti had a 2.5L. The outgoing WRX was 2.0L. The new WRX, that he is driving is a 2.4L.
Just another youtube faker
Too bad the WRX can't be head with leather or faux-leather seats. As a rideshare driver, I need seats that can be wiped off and don't start to stink (like cloth). So, unless I can get a Forte GT Manual before they're all gone (or unless Subaru gives the car leather or vinyl seats), it will be a 2025 GLI for me.
I have the 2024 gli manual, and it is great.
Would you take one of these or the civic si?
Gli in DSG
GLI
I looked at the Civic si closely, and bought the Jetta gli manual and I love it. Drivers position is great, for me better than the Honda, and the Jetta is quicker.
WRX hands down for me. Owned a 2020 Si Coupe and currently own a 2023 WRX. WRX is more fun to drive, drives better and is smoother to drive in my opinion.
@@riley1733 No doubt the WRX is a beauty. I saw a 2024 red WRX with a manual yesterday, and it is lovely!
Jetta #1
@Agent Office yeah, #1 at wheel spin. No traction.
@@steve8803 can't disagree
@@steve8803 Lol, that's just base on the tires, the one that comes with it are medium-average, once your embark real tires, it's a marvel.
@@Quadruple-Vaxxed-Boomer the problem is not the tires. It's front wheel drive. Trash. Once you go awd in a performance oriented car, you'll never go back.
@@steve8803 I own a GLI 2023 and the GLI beat the WRX on the roll, you can even find it on youtube come on man.
I know a lot of people are going to hate me for saying this, but I swear man! When I see that wrx, it resembles the Toyota corolla so much! To me, it looks like a high school kid, just got his license and he got a hold of mom's 4 door corolla, and threw a body kit that looks like a total afterthought on the wrx.
The dash screen also looks so awkward. That screen looks hideous! It's for sure a total afterthought that they, last mili-second, threw on the dash, as the car was rolling down the assembly line and about to enter the dash assembly area. Lololol.
It's just totally an awkward looking car with a Toyota corolla ground effects kit and a Subaru badge slapped on the front and back as a dare or a joke - knowing that it will appeal to high school kids. 😂
Had a wrx. Rides like crap. Paint is thin. Awd is good with decent tires. Gas mileage is terrible. Gli is a smoother Ride. Wrx is a police magnet especially in red.
You had one is the key. The new one is better in every way, including ride.
@@thekingandi1705 once and done
I had one I feel the same way.
Currently own a 2023 WRX. Drives amazing. Why so much hate on the WRX's? I love mine.
For those of us who would drive this through a real Canadian winter (6 months of snow) all wheel drive with winter tires would make the Subaru the better a good choice over the GLI. I have owned a GTI but there were some weeks I could not get out of my unplowed residential neighbourhood with the GTI. Admittedly that had more to do with ground clearance than traction.
I have one in Niagara with snows on. Unstoppable.
Down here in FL, the GLI is much more car for the money. Put summer tires on all year 'round 🙂
Gli is so much better
WRX reminds me of a chain link fence.
You lost me when you said most car enthusiasts are poor. 😢 #fakenews
Yes he lost me when he said he was poor.
RX-7 casually drives by. . . . 😂
WTF. I left after the opening where you're standing there and then swallow and then start to speak.
I like the Gli much better, thas because I own one 😂
That rx7 tho
Jetta in blue is definitely the worst color they offer. The cheesy red vents just make it worse.
Bought one in black. And got rid of basically all the red except callipers and a couple gli badges. Looks 100x better overall. Especially with tint.
Wish it was awd but have some studded winter tires and honestly , it’s more confidence inspiring to drive in blizzard/ ice than my ram with all seasons / 4wd
Especially on ice.
And 6 speed can’t beat it for the fun factor even if it isn’t the fastest car out there
What it is yo? What’s uuuuppp
Can a cracka get in em gutz
2022 WRX isn't a 2.0l. It's a 2.5l. Also, he's mistaken about it being a replacement for the 2014-2015 model year.
The new wrx is so ugly
Beauty is the eye of the beholder! Lol I'm not saying it's pretty but its growing on me. I like it in the dark colors or the storm trooper white with all that black plastic.
I agree :( They ruined it (although this one in the video is definitely one of the better newer ones)
You lost me when you said the WRX is 2.0
Wrx steering has 0 feel
AWD is overrated
Not really.
