    We tested the results of Tenacity and Alligare Triclopyr 4 over the course of a 3-week trial. Our lawn was suffering from Wild Violet, Clover, Crabgrass, Bermuda and Dallisgrass. The Tenacity and Tripcloyr did a great job of killing off the unwanted weeds so that we could properly overseed the lawn.
    The new website: www.btwilliasga...
    Purchase Links:
    Pump Sprayer: amzn.to/36fBDIg
    Electric Sprayer: amzn.to/2G87Iaj
    Tenacity: amzn.to/3cCo6vP
    Meso 4 SC (Tenacity equivalent): amzn.to/2S9uocE
    Alligare Triclopyr 4: amzn.to/3jnRt7m
    Surfactant: amzn.to/2S8Can6
    Notes about seeding: Tenacity is safe to use before, during or after overseeding a fescue lawn. Alligare's Triclopyr requires a 3 week wait time after your last application before you can seed.
    We are happy with the results of both products. The Triclopyr 4 works insanely fast on clover. It seriously kills it in less than 24 hours. The Tenacity takes a couple of weeks to start showing results but is really fun to watch as it starves the weeds from chlorophyll, which leads them to their demise.
    Our test plot video will be release soon. Stay tuned!
    Thanks for watching! -BTWG

    Nice job & review. I live in Hickory, NC and I’ve found that Speedzone works really well for me as a post-emergent on my turf type tall fescue. I have serious problems with the creeping Charlie & clover as well and it clears up most weeds within a week. May be worth checking out. Good work and content.

    Thank you. Only suggestion I would make is changing spray nozzles. I swapped the nozzle like yours with the teejet fan nozzle. It’s a huge difference. Instead of all the movement of the sprayer you’re just walking along like cutting the lawn, it’s putting down a 4 foot wide mist like spray very evenly. It’s a lot less work with the changing nozzles.

    I know this video is 3 years old but, I started watching when you mentioned NC. I live in Winston-Salem and was very interested to learn that this combination of herbicides will kill or at least torture bermuda grass and dallisgrass without harming tall fescue. The only solution to dallisgrass I've been told is a shovel or glyphosate. Since bahiagrass is the evil twin to dallisgrass, I wonder if it will work on that too? I have several customers yards that are infested with bahiagrass in tall fescue. For the other weeds you mentioned, (wild violets) I've used several 3 way herbicides with good results.

    Where did you get your mix ratio for Tryclopyr 4? The bottle says maximum application rate is 2-4 pints per 100 gallons. So that’s just .64 ounces per gallon max.
    So your 10 ounces per 5 gallons is 300% of maximum application ratio.
    When mixing that high I believe the concern is ground water infiltration.

    • @BtwilliasGarage
      @BtwilliasGarage  2 роки тому

      It does seem that I was heavy with the mix, although I sprayed lightly. The ground water infiltration makes sense. I'll mix at the recommended app rate moving forward

    • @aieahi1
      @aieahi1 2 місяці тому

      The max rate for Triclopyr is based on the area sprayed; not the volume of water it’s mixed in. The water acts as a carrier, which means it doesn’t actually mix with the Triclopyr. So, this means that the person spraying plays a part in the application rate. Move slowly, more water is used, need less Triclopyr in the water mix. Mix lightly, can have higher.
      For Alligare Triclopyr 4. The max rate on the label is 1.5 oz per 1,000 sq ft. (Many labels use acres. 1 acre = 43,560 sq ft. If the max is based on an acre, you can calculate the max for 1,000 sq ft by dividing by 43.56). Many of the YT lawn enthusiast use 1 gal of water for 1,000 sq ft. This would suggest Btwillia is using too much.
      However Btwillia says he’s spraying 10,000 sq ft with his 5 gallons containing 10 oz of Triclopyr. That makes it 1 oz per 1,000 sq ft, which is below the limit. The label recommends 3/8 to 3/4 oz Triclopyr to treat 1,000 sq ft.

    Great video! Hoping you're still active here on UA-cam. I just moved to a new house with a large lawn (approx. 25k sq ft) and the weeds are outta control. There's good grass underneath but I feel completely out of my depth as I'm a total newbie at lawn care.
    1. Is it okay to blanket spray this mixture over the entire lawn? In the video I wasn't sure if you spot-sprayed or blanket sprayed.
    2. It's the 3rd week of May now and it may be the 2nd week of June until I'm able to overseed/fertilize. What do you recommend? Should I wait to seed in the fall and just fertilize my existing grass (KBG) for now?

    • @BtwilliasGarage
      @BtwilliasGarage  3 роки тому +2

      Hey! Thank you! Yes, I'm very active just not able to post as much lately
      1- yes you want to blanket spray this every 30-45 days or so.
      2- I would definitely wait til fall to overseed. Actually I would just deal with the lawn overall this year and then kill it all in the fall with a heavy glyphosate mix (roundup). Kill the good grass too. Rule is if you have more than 40% weeds then it's cheaper and easier to just start overm you can aerate, seed and starter fert 1-2 weeks after you spray the roundup.

      I would honestly hit whatever you want to kill with Roundup since it cheaper first. Then mow very low 2 days later. Seed one week after spraying roundup. Then do all your aeration, seeding etc. Then spray tenacity after seed is down for crab grass prevention and to kill whatever is left. Thanks for the compliment

    • @BtwilliasGarage

      Buy the most cost for effective "Roundup" product you can find at HD or the local store. Look at the price and compare it to the active % amount of glyphosate that is in it. That's the best route to go. Add a little dish or hand soap in the spayer and lay it on strong. It's cheap and will kill everything. Go ahead and spray some now and then again when your done. With scalping it and all.
