Hey Ron, excellent video! I have a question about Image, there's a couple varieties I've noticed and in your video you mention the one with imazaquin as the ingredient, but the one you link to in the video doesn't list that as the active ingredient. Could you help me out by just confirming which one or letting me know if there's not much difference? Thanks again!
Hey Ron, hopefully you see this. I used princep, image, and prodiamine and found my tank is full of foam and froth. Any tips on how to mitigate that? Filled it halfway, added everything, shook, and can only get to 3gal before it foams out the top. Thanks!
If you let the mix settle for a few minutes the foam should die down. You don’t want to use a jet nozzle when filling the tank since that will cause the foaming you’re describing.
I'm moving into a new home that has just about every kind of weed you can name (northwest Ohio). There is a good stand of KBG and tall fescue, but the nutsedge, foxtail and crabgrass is trying to take over the yard. Can I use Tenacity/Mesotrione to kill off the annuals and overseed in September?
Yes you can Kelly. Just be prepared for discoloration in your lawn. You also might want to mix quinclorac with it for the crabgrass. ron-henry.com/quincloracdf
@@RonHenry Thanks for the quick reply! Will it be overkill to use both products, or should I try the Quinclorac first? If I reseed in the Fall, will I be able to use a pre-emergent in the Spring?
Question, I am throwing prodiamine granules down on my Zeon in SC here in the next two weeks. I was planning on doing another light app later in the winter or early next year and then switching to Ronstar or spectacle flo in March. POA tried to take me out last winter (I bought the place in December so I have no clue what previous owner did as far as pre em goes) would you recommend I back off the second small application later this winter and stick the princep/image mixture out after I water my prodiamine granules in instead? Thanks so much for what you do.
Bermuda grass, central Tx. Is the Spectacle FLO to be applied on its own or combined with other post-emergent herbicide you mention in this video? My lawn is a 1+ year old and looking to make it weed-free. Last year spot treated many times I am so tired of it. This year looking to get ahead of the competition so weeds are defeated.
Depends on if you have active weeds in your lawn. Specticle does a great job of preventing new weeds but doesn't do much for what's already growing in the lawn.
I have a question. I have shrubs (roses) and I am needing a good herbicide to spray for weeds around my plants. What do you recommend? My goal would be to not kill my shrubs.
Depends on the weeds you're trying to kill Joshua. Regardless of which herbicide you use, I'd recommend using cardboard to shield the roses from overspray. Check out this video for additional tips: ua-cam.com/video/u1ZKm5kUOQ4/v-deo.html
What can I put down with a mix of bahia, recently planted St Augustine sod and plugs. But I have a lot of dollar weed and I am a bit nervous I do not want to burn my lawn
Depends on the weeds you’re targeting. For sedges, Certainty will work and is safe for Bahia and St. Aug. golfcourselawn.store/products/certainty-herbicide-1-25-oz-sedge-and-poa-annua-control
What kind of grass do you have Melissa? If cool season grass, go with Tenacity. It will prevent weeds for about 3 weeks after application. golfcourselawn.store/products/mesotrione-meso-4sc-select
I have a question about something that is rarely discussed. My yard is about 30% weeds. I put down about 50 pieces of st Augustine sod this summer. My plan is to put down another 30-40 pieces next spring. Should I use pre emergent for the winter and spring to kill weeds or should I wait until I have much less weed coverage? I can’t afford to cover my 5,000 sq. ft. yard. I’m retired, and now have time to work a lawn. Thanks for any help that you might give.
Hi FB Fields. If you're not planning to lay the St. Augustine until next spring, I would apply pre-emergent this fall. Prodiamine is a good choice. golfcourselawn.store/products/yard-mastery-0-0-7-prodiamine-38-45lb
The rate of .10 oz/1000 how long does it last on the ground. I'm trying to use it in the fall and spring without having to use anything else. The annual max on it is 18.5oz/acre and the .10oz/per 1000 is 4.5oz/per acre, so should I do a quarterly app of .10oz/1000 to get a full year or two apps every 6 months with specticle flo. I have St Augustine grass that in Central Florida so it's sandy as well.
Depends Duane. I would plan to use a different pre-emergent other than Specticle FLO in the spring. .10 fl oz in Sept and again in December is a good strategy. That will cover you until March timeframe in the spring.
@@RonHenry I really want to use the specticle flo in the spring because I have a history of doveweed that I'm trying to prevent in the future. In the past I've used prodiamine and dimension to obtain annual coverage and it breaks through.
Best bet is to dig it out William. There's not a selective herbicide that I'm aware of that controls dallisgrass and is labeled for use on residential lawns.
Depends on what you're targeting Ariel. Princep and Image are a solid addition. Princep Herbicide: amzn.to/3w5lnpo Image Herbicide: ron-henry.com/image
Hi Jim. If you're applying new sod, I'd give it a few months before applying pre-emergent. You can use either straight prodiamine or the Prodiamine, simazine and image combination. Either will work.
@@RonHenry Ok so I am just going to put the sod down and then sometime after Christmas put some Prodiamine? Does that sound correct. So no weed control prior to the sod? Thanks again
@@Moondoggy1941 You can apply post-emergent before to clean up weeds. Only thing I'd apply immediately prior to the sod is Essential-G. Appreciate you watching.
Hey Ron, awesome video thanks for doing this. This fall pre-emergent application will be my first time doing it myself, had used a company in the past. I picked up Specticle Flo since keeping the dreaded POA out of my zoysia is worth that much to me lol. I have a couple questions related to the application I’d love your input on. Thanks Ron for including the Cool Season guys.

You're right Jeremy. I was focusing mainly on more professional grade options. Granular spectracide works too.
can i use prodiamine with tenacity plus surfactan on Fescue lawn?
I would omit the sufactant.
I have a bottle of spectacle FLO. Can I apply as a pre-emergent in my pine straw beds as well as my Bermuda lawn?
You can Marc but it's unlikely to work as well in the flower beds as it does in your lawn. If you have the product, can't hurt though.
