The back and side yards are primarily shaded throughout the day. I believe I have all manner of species of weeds not to mention moles and or voles. Where should I start? If you're getting yellow you might be applying too much herbicide. I usually get zero yellowing, but I use the low end of the recommended rate. And yes, nitrogen is definitely helping with the green up, two birds one stone!

I did some digging but was too overwhelmed.
They have discontinued it, but it is still available on Amazon. I did some digging before the video and it seemed like their replacement wasn't getting that great of reviews. I didn't check the active ingredients though.
I would test a spot first. A lot of variables with liquid fertilizers cuz there's so many different mixes of things in them. I'm sure it'd be fine in most cases but I'd definitely try just a couple areas first before going crazy
I've heard good things about speed zone. But it's a shame I can't order it. Not in my area or state. Don't know why, but when I try to order online, I always get a message saying that it can not be delivered to the zip code.
Allowed, but only to state certified applicators. Not to be sold to, used by or stored by non certified people. Says so on the label. Some states have gone after online vendors selling restricted products to non qualified people.
Adding urea or ams as an adjuvant is good. The ams is an acidifier. Also... Spot spraying with the fertilizer adjuvants might make for some uneven growth spurts where you spray vs don't spray. Great vid. Love that it's backed up by some science to explain why instead of just "how". Also, it seems like speedzone is discontinued by Gordon in the 20oz size. Or maybe is being rebranded as trimec speed. Bonide weed beater ultra is essentially the same product as speedzone if you can't find it in stores etc.
Speedzone is discontinued but you can still buy it on Amazon in the 20oz bottle. I'm gonna look into Bonide, I've never heard of it. Thanks for dropping all of your knowledge Joe. I appreciate your insight!
which herbicides should NOT be used together? i have several SINGLE ingredient herbicides (tenacity, fusilade, empora), and would like to combine them for a single treatment. another option, simply rotating between single herbicides monthly.
That will work better as a surfactant than the urea will. I didn't want to overwhelm people with three different ingredients. But definitely put it on if you have it.
Use Ammonium Sulfate fertilizer to help bring down your pH of your soil. The CA in this video is used for bringing down the pH of your water (the carrier).
Yes. You can DEFinitely do that. Ha. Just make sure you're doing your math right so you're not putting down more than 0.2 lbs of Nitrogen per thousand square feet. You'll have the potential of burning your lawn if you do
@@LAWNLIFE can you hit your boy up over at princess cuts and fact check him on his nitrogen break down for the DEF that he had used. He stated that it would be a 15-0-0 for a 2.5 gallon container that contains 32.5% Urea. Help me out on this one if possible. And thanks for the reply.
I hate using tenacity or other products like it. Not that it doesn't do the job, it just lights your lawn up for way too long and is an eyesore.. I now just have a company spray it instead. Does this stuff do the same?
I'm not a fan of tenacity either. Takes way too long and the bleaching is ridiculous. Speedzone bleaches weeds a bit but not your grass. Label says 7-14 for a kill. I'm noticing around 1 week for 75% of it to die. The bleaching isn't as bad as tenacity either

Any suggestion on what to do for salt damage? My neighbor keeps salting my yard, so I've been watering like crazy and put down a light coat of starter fert. (got it on video, since they don't cross the property line, there's nothing I can do, so say the police.) Typical MN passive/aggressive behavior.
I'd be very careful lowering the pH of 2,4-D and others - you risk changing (increasing) the half life by many orders of magnitude (you should ask yourself why Gordon's didn't lower the pH in their medium from natural to acidic?)
Your sprayer doesn't spray 1 gallon of water per 1,000 so why mix it with 1 gallon? I know you can go over twice to spread that gallon over the 1,000 sq. Ft. But why not figure out what your sprayer puts out per 1,000 and mix with that amount of water. I mix my 2.6 ounces with 80 oz. Of water for 1,000 sq. Ft.
It seems that all you "lawn youtubers" just copy each other. One guy says add ammonium sulfate and another says add citric acid and then everybody just starts stating the same things. Its ridiculous. First off, just because you are adding these adjuvants doesn't absolutely mean it increases their efficacy. Each active ingredient in the "3 way" or "4 way" mix as you called it has a different mode of action. So adding adjuvants could actually decrease the efficacy over the long haul. Most people just want instant results which usually means it doesn't allow the herbicides to kill according to the mixture of active ingredients. Secondly, adding nitrogen (46 - 0 - 0 )? Really? I think you need to do a little research before just cloning what every other youtuber thinks is the magic mix. If you add nitrogen to the mix and apply it to a cool season grass that has had recent fert application you are begging for disease. Especially if temperatures have warmed up during the night. Thirdly, you should test your water ph and hardness to determine what to add. You just can't tell people to add citric acid. Really!? Professionally, you should understand and know the mode and site of action of each herbicide. Why? Because using a "3 way" or "4 way" every application will increase the chance of weed resistance to the active ingredients over time. You should always rotate different modes of actions to decrease the chance of weed resistance. Also, did you only use 1 gallon of water because it looked like at least 2 gallons in the white bucket. I think what you are doing is fine, but I think you need to do a little more research and critical thinking and real tests before telling people what to do. "100 percent add adjuvants?" I personally and professionally think your test/video shows that the 24 hours of delay that the non adjuvant herbicide shows that it works just as well and is not worth the extra money or hassle of mixing the adjuvants. And again, as I state before, a systemic kill is a long term kill. Just because the weed is wilting does not mean that the weed was killed and could have prematurely wilted before letting the main ai absorb foliar.
I swear some of you come on here, watch videos, and complain just to complain. Yes I REALLY used nitrogen. I used 0.1 lbs of N per K. That’s barely anything. People spoon feed double that weekly. You are not increasing your potential of disease over that small amount of nitrogen, even if they did have a recent fertilizer application. As for the citric acid, if you listened, I said MULTIPLE TIMES that IF you have a high pH and hard water to add it. I didn’t say to add it no matter what. For the average homeowner, they are not going out and spraying herbicide on their lawn multiple times a year, every year, to increase weed resistance to one certain mode of action. It takes several years to become resistant at a MINIMUM. You’re acting like these people are going to spray a 3-way twice and have resistance the following year. I’m trying to help people with a weed infested lawn kill as much as they can at one time. And I used 1 gallon of water per 1000 sq ft, like I mentioned with the graphics and said in the video. So I used 3.5 gallons to cover my 3500 sq ft. Look, I understand you probably get frustrated with “Lawn UA-camrs”, but it’s grass man. I’ve gotten hundreds of emails telling me how I’ve helped people out with their lawns. If you want to hate “Lawn UA-camrs” that’s fine. Go watch something else then. Go start your own channel. Go start a business. Go do something productive with all this "wrong information" if you think you can do better.

@@d9t2s52392 urea is 46% nitrogen so you have to take 32.5 x 0.46 to get 14.95%. Essentially making it a 15-0-0
I hate using tenacity or other products like it.
@LAWN LIFE Awesome thanks!..Yes I can't handle the bleech look anymore. I was buying grass paint to hide the bleech look in the grass lol.
@@SONICBOOM98 😂😂 so many other great options instead of tenacity. I'm actually thinking about doing a video on why tenacity is a joke lol. Thanks for watching man!
@LAWN LIFE Do it man! Would love to see it.
Can I add liquid urea in the form of DEF (Diesel exhaust fluid) as an adjuvant??
Yes
Nice Polaris RZR Shirt! 🤘
How much nitrogen and citric acid are we mixing with our 3/4 way herbicides? is there a formula?
05:03 I tell you at that time stamp.
@@LAWNLIFEIs the 3.5 oz urea by volume or weight?
I wanna be like Jesse! Next level vid right here!
Thanks Brian! Appreciate you watching!
How much citric acid is in that fraction of a teaspoon? I'm wondering if I should just squeeze an orange? 😅
Probably would do just as good 🤣 it's ridiculous how small the number is to move the pH.
@@LAWNLIFE I have a degree in food science - that amount of citric acid could become your new ranch dressing....put that sh*t on everything 🤣 ...in tiny doses
Just add a few ounces of Green Effect from Green County Fert.
Let me know how it goes. I've never used it.
@@LAWNLIFE works great. Same result as in your vid just without all the mixing.
Great video! Could you just mix a little nitrogen fertilizer instead of the urea so that you knock out two stones with one bird :)
“Add-jugh-vent”
You're right. Failed there.
@@LAWNLIFEso much harder trying to say everything correctly on camera than one would think. Awesome video, really helpful.
Also like seeing the shoutout to George, he's got a lot of great content and seems like a good guy.
Excellent,, thanks 👍👍
Man, I live just down the street from you in Anoka. I'm working on my lawn and would love if you could lend a hand. If you're up for it it's free content for your channel😊
Why would they be salting anything right now? How is it ending up your lawn?
Adjuvants for the win!
Dangerous combo I love it! The esther formulation in SpeedZone is bank. Thanks for the content!
Thanks for always watching!
I've never heard someone pronounce the H in herbicide before (except British people). You pronounce it very strongly....interesting.
Now you have
Skol!!!👊🏾💪🏾
The ortho weed killer for dandelion, chickened n crabgrass is useless as nothing happens with the hose end spray.
I'd be very careful lowering the pH of 2,4-D and others - you risk changing (increasing) the half life by many orders of magnitude (you should ask yourself why Gordon's didn't lower the pH in their medium from natural to acidic?)
I'm lowering the pH of my carrier because it's way too high. Not the pH of the herbicide.
@@LAWNLIFE it's 2,4-D is very soluble in water. Look at pubchem. The 2,4-D pH will be 1:1 with the medium.
Lol, @00:54
😂😂 Thanks for watching!
Ft.
It does spray 1 gallon over 1,000 sq ft. I calibrate it by setting my gpm to my walking speed
LMAO! at night
👍👍
I thought Justin Timberlake would have a bigger lot…. Just me?
Ajuhvent, not ajoovent
Yes. You are right. I'll be getting this comment for the next month.
Man you should start a lawn care channel - you sound like you’re really invested in it. Go spread your vast expansive knowledge base.
