It makes sense, it’s possible for the primary climber to be Nana and the secondary to be Popo depending on your skin.
@@tokobot you’re right, I often forget that the colors change who’s the main climber. It was just throwing me off because i’m used to hearing people saying their names in most clips i’ve seen.

3 techniques (wobbling, freeze glitch, and sing stall) vs an entire character is a little different
@@eliastew9636 what about instituting ledge grab limits? The entire community was determined to ban puff completely until some TOs got together and put ledge grab limits on a tournament.
My point is ultimate is discussing (not doing) banning a character and melee players who all wanted icies banned back in the day, and then it was puff, are all getting up in arms acting holier than thou when some ult players get mad at Steve.

I literally did what coney was alluding to. I, having played almost no melee before, spent a few hours in training mode learning to wobble and then went on unranked and wobbled the shit out of low mmr players until I eventually got matched into the endless sea of dair spamming falcos I could never beat. It was pretty fun.
They should REALLY ban Coneying in competitive play, I know we just discovered the tech this year but it's way too powerful.

I will say I know coney is being facetious but the biggest bummer about ICs handoffs and wobbling is mainly the um interactive nature. If you get handoffed you get 0 chances at even mixing up your opponent. Many characters can 0 to death in melee, but you have so much more interaction to mess up your opponent. Handoffs remove that
If you don't know which ices is which, then look at the gloves. The one in the front changes depending on the alt you pick.
If it wasn't banned after a while people were gonna be like "okay they didn't ban it whatever." And then play melee.
If Conney can't learn how to wobble unban it and then make him play against ices all the time.

The only thing that would be different is you'd still have Ice Climbers players around. Basically all the old Ice Climbers players quit the game once wobbling was banned, something which shouldn't be celebrated in my opinion. R.I.P. Chudat, Wobbles, Fly Amanita, etcetera.
I hope that the coneying video becomes reality and that the melee community won’t ban the technique after it’s discovery

I think it would be funny if you uploaded the video where you "discovered" wobbling, say that your version is slightly different than the original, and when it comes up in conversation when someone asks you how it's different just dodge the question.
I'm just saying icees with wobbling were not replacing fox as top characters or even getting close. Maybe your game is broken and you banned it for being boring
Something doesn't need to be completely dominant over the entire meta to justify it being banned. Wobbling should be banned because it's skill to reward ratio is completely fucked, there's not a single character in the entire game that gets free stocks for such little effort.

it honestly seems super lame that icies best punish is now super rng unless youre on a really specific part of the stage. like yea wobbling is also lame, but it really sucks that a pretty cool character is so inconsistent
also, the characters this makes the most difference against are the floaties, characters who icies generally struggle with the most. Peach - icies was literally the most lopsided matchup between top 10 characters in the game before wobbling was banned and now icies have a 50% chance for a grab that was previously a taken stock to now just be 40%.

Wobbling should be legal, but there should also be a rule that if you wobble anyone during bracket, all of your opponents from then on are allowed to talk as much mad shit as they want, literally anything outside of outright bigotry or personal threats, and if the player who wobbled complains about it they get immediately DQ'd.

I despise wobbling. But I do think the wobbling rule needs to change. Allow it for 1 stock. However I do love seeing ICs do well without wobbling. Handoff combos are super cool to watch. They also take a level of game knowledge that is beyond anything most Fox players will ever know.
Banning wobbling is like banning grapplers in fighting games. Like, "oh woe is me, i got grabbed and i lost 1 stock of 3 in one game of a best of 3 format".

This comparison doesn't work because grapplers are almost universally the lowest tier archetype in fighting games. They have to work much harder to achieve a reward similar to other archetypes like rushdown or shoto. Wobbling takes zero skill and rewards you completely disproportionately to the rest of the cast. Wobbling is the antithesis of grapplers, imagine if Zangief could SPD and take half your life bar in one shot, could do this as many times as he wanted, and also existed in a game where getting into that SPD range was trivial. That would be stupidly overpowered and it's still not as strong as wobbling.

the main thing about grapplers is that they have bad, high committal neutrals in exchange for exceptional grab-centric punish games. Ice climbers fit that definition to a T.
most grapplers neutrals are forced to be bad and high commitment by nuking their general movement and giving them high-commitment movement and/or approaching options to make up for that.
Ice climbers also have very committal movement for their game. WD movement is high commitment in melee, as it forces you to have large portions of lag during your movement and removes some options after WD back (for example, icies can't generally wd back, dash forward, grab as their low traction means the WD back momentum prevents them from moving forward with the dash). They also have poor diagonal hitbox coverage and movement, in a game where diagonal approaches and movement are very strong.
Also: wobbling is inherently tied to the presence of nana, which is something no other character in melee, or any grappler outside of melee, has. Nobody else can have their punish options taken away as a possibility by the opponent's actions. Wobbling is inherently a reward for managing and manipulating nana, a unique skillset for the character that most people neither understand the slightest bit about or even see when it's a factor in their success.

So sure, if they grab you they get a free kill, but 1. Don't get grabbed 4head, and 2. They still have to "rightfully" take the rest of the stocks.

I feel like banning wobbling was stupid because it clearly wasn’t that good if Ice Climbers wasn’t dominating competitions I understand it is frustrating but it obviously wasn’t unstoppable
Something doesn't need to be absolutely dominating the entire games meta to be banned. Wobbling is banned because the ease of execution is wildly out of proportion with its massive reward that no other character in the game gets.
I love wobbling. Needs to stay with around a 50% cap.
