Actually there is no disco music in the movie (which incidentally did NOT die in the summer of 1979) but the clothing store here was Fiorucci, associated with both disco and new wave - and also they had a version of Preppy which was on trend at the time.

The clothes he wears here were probably actual items in stock at Fiorucci when they filmed this; some people claimed their merchandise was too wild but I found it quite wearable (at least the menswear) and always bought something at their New York store when I was in the city. If they had dressed that young guy a little more creatively it would have added to the visuals and made him seem less like a dork.
When i watched Xanadu in the movie theater in 1980 i was 16 years old. Was it silly and campy? Yes. Did I still love it? Yes. I recently watched a music theater rendition of Xanadu and while the songs were well sung, there was no way they lived up to the task The original just slayed them. Who, after all, could ever outdo Gene Kelly and Olivia Newton-John? No one. Period. I am seeing ELO tomorrow! I love this movie.
Gene Kelly was still at the top of his A-game 😊😊
He's the best dancer ever. I loved Xanadu.
The best part of the video starts at 03:30 where Sonny and Kira are slow dancing and Xanadu is transformed!
Gene Kelly still had the moves.
Una de las canciones icónicas de ELO 👏👏👏👌
Absolutely love this movie its mental ❤❤
I remember seeing Xanadu at the movie theater and loved it. Great music and I know the critics hated it and it
just made me love the movie even more over the years. I even had the soundtrack album.
Reach 13 in the top 100 during October of 1980.. Had no idea as all of the attention was on Magic and Xanadu..
Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
¡¡QUE HERMOSA PELICULA XANADU!!
There was a time. I love it!
I always have and will always love Gene Kelly since my days as a child.
I wish there was a roller rink in a building copied from that one 😄This movie was my life when I was 9, all summer...watch Xanadu, roller skate, go swimming, repeat! I still love it and the ELO songs from it
Olivia Newton John. Rest in peace.
Mid 80s fashion and looks in a 1980 film.Someone had a foretelling of what was to come.
This movie is a guilty pleasure 😂olivia was at her most beautiful and was my muse.
I am mesmerised watching Kelly dance
Got to love Gene Kelly, roller skating at age 58!
I don't know why so many people ragged on this movie. I love it!
