If you don't like this you're dead .brilliant this man was miles above anybody else and always will be. Never to be repeated. Mozart of twentieth century.
No surprise how Bowie attracts the best guitarists like Slick, Frampton, Vaughn, and Fripp. His music is so amazing and he seeks out only the best to play the best. Great video of my favorite Bowie tune- thanks for posting it.
I really appreciate Andrian Belew’s talent, but it was refreshing to have just a regular old, straight up lead guitarist playing on this version vs all the freaky guitar sound effects of Adrian Belew’s from other tours. 🤔
I'm a long-time fan so how did I miss this amazing live version?! it feels like a gift after losing David...unforgettable, charming, talented, always evolving David 💝
This is my favourite version of Stay! What a start for a show!!!!!!!! I love the music, i adore the lyrics, it's brilliant!!!!!!! And Bowie is glowing!!!!!!!
This is such a cool song .you would not believe that its over 40 yrs old .thats the thing with bowie he was always so much in the future .wayahead of his time
I LOOK AND KEEP WANTING SOMETHING IN PAR OF WHAT THIS PROVIDES! incredible VIBE AND THE SONG IS FLYING IN THE REGISTER OF A HARMONIC OCEAN COAST IN THE PUBLIC OF REFINED DIALECT! ONE OF THE BEST!
STILL ON THE RADAR!.........incredible intro ladies and gentlemen.......This first pick up into the microphone of his words was super important after all that musical intro and crowd that kept my breath until his delivery--- then I felt this is going to be good.... waving perfectly into greatness!
I love this song. When I listen to my Station to Station cd, I replay this one (among others). He's just amazing. It's hard to believe that he, at one time, didn't like his voice. OMG!!
@Scoobydoonut The endless research on the perfection by Bowie is proverbial (and I think that during the last Tour was almost reached): creativity in constant boiling, strong character, desire to give the best of himself (with a persistent emanation of "cleanliness" always evident, even in those "very difficult times"), supreme love for Music ... Bowie is not just a "Rockstar" is definitely one gentleman of the stars, STARMAN. Thanks dear, even you are an angelic person.
So beautiful, one of my all time favorite videos, such a wonderful classic Bowie masterpiece performed to such perfection, and David is absolutely stunning, a brilliant shining star both inside and out. It just couldn't get any better than this ♥♥♥♫♪♫♥♥♥puts a song in my heart and lifts my spirits.
I reckon this is one of my favorite Bowie tunes but obviously it's hard to choose, I gotta say Station to Station is like nothing else ever. Bowie was 56 years old on the Reality tour, the guy's been testing his vocal cords for decades, God only knows how they survived this long. .
I saw the Station To Station tour at Wembley and it was epic, although it missed Slick (IMHO). The genius in this song was getting the funky-soulful Alomar / Murray / Davis axis rocking out. Undoubtedly one of Alomar's greatest riffs (after Fame!). Oh, and then there's Golden Years and ....
Bowie had so much energy for the Heathen and Reality tours. In retrospect, I wonder if the non stop touring in the early 2000s contributed to his heart attack?
Moi je l ai vu à Marseille en France lors de sa dernière tournée il avait annulé 2 dates avant et le concert géant 👍👍il était bien et je me souviens de changes où le public l a acclamé pendant de longues minutes, super souvenir ce concert 🙏
@vjaspers0608 In 2002, Bowie said that the inside melody is the engine of songs. "At this stage it seems that people follow me, but, even if it were not, is a necessity to express myself ... so, I'll never stop singing, even if someone pay me to retire. The music has the same importance of my family; I wish I could say that my family comes first, but it is not. They come together, they are, indissoluble, my life. " Life is often unpredictable. Great gig, yes. Thanks, greetings from Italy.
@redsails2008 Version for re-listening, because top arrangement, band in fine form, Bowie very centered and superb. The opening riff is, musically, an original jewel that immediately predisposes a touch of lightness in heart by a key-rock, for re-balancing this heartbreaking text. Then, the modesty of David when he enters the arena is so touching for me ... This Man and this Artist IS ELEGANCE. Magic Concert. Infinite thanks: you've really penetrated the whole great work of the master.
@TruthAxe Many thanks, so glad for your opinion which coincides with mine. The qualitative preference, from 1998 to 2004, is not for the majority: I see most people fond of performances of the "young David"... Instead I find that his maturity is an artistic wholeness, elegant, centered, stunning. It would be wonderful that your suggestion would be accepted. So, let's make a public appeal: BOWIE, THINK ABOUT IT!
@4rainbowed The Band: Earl Slick lead guitar. Gerry Leonard - lead guitar. Mark Plati: rhythm guitar + bass. Sterling Campbell: drums. Gail Ann Dorsey - bass + guitar + vocals. Mike Garson - piano + keyboards. Catherine Russel - backing vocals + percussion + keyboards. Thank you very much for watching (and I totally agree on your enthusiastic comment).
@Glamypunk I completely agree. It seems to me the best, watching it from various perspectives. Thanks Glamy, your skilled appreciation is important for me.
That's it! Wonderful band, beautiful songs, a God as a singer. I can imagine though David Bowie + Mike Garson (voice + piano) in "Word on a Wing". Dreaming is free, isn't it? ;^)
@guitarina1 Ha ha ha, you've already said everything, the wonder is one of the most sought-effects by the artist who is donating his work: so opening the brain and the heart on what he is expressing, makes the meaning to be interpreted subjectively; and it's why he wants to communicate and to share... Thanking you, Darling.
@naumnn It's hard, is true ! I Recognize his voice among thousands, although David changes his timbre registers, the nuances of tones, the frequencies, the intensity, etc.. for every song. "Stay" is a special song: I think it requires a vocal modulation very flexible and powerful, it's a difficult performing, truly masterfully done ( by the band too). And requires a presence of the Soul to achieve this effect ...
@GoldenYears77 Bowie's music actually does not lose its shine over time. One reason, I think, is because he has traced a territory unusual, solitary, where nobody could compete with him. And he also knowingly risked, always. I wonder how many artists are able to risk a consent imposed by Majors today ... Many thanks for the comment, even I love this song and the entire album.
@victordelomas I can answer only in an approximate way: there are many outlets for DVDs of Bowie in web, some of which are specialized for special editions or rare. I don't think it's very hard to find this wonderful concert, because it is one of the most famous ... Thank you for watching.
Unfortunately, from what I know, I believe that "Word on a Wing" has been not performed by this wonderful Band, or at least published in a DVD (nor between those that I possess). I'm sorry, because I agree with your implicit meaning that this is one of the best among all the formations by David. Thanks for the comment.
@TruthAxe I don't agree that he was horrible live in the past... I have only seen and heard recordings of it, unfortunately never been there myself, but for example the -"Stage" live album from 1978 is a very good example of high quality live performing. "Stay" from that album is also gorgeous! But of course his newer performances between 1995 and 2004 belong to the best he has ever done.
Une des meilleures intro ! C Est vrai la meilleure de Bowie, en studio aussi géante, avec Murray à la basse et davis a la batterie, Bowie a toujours su s entouré de super rythmique ! Bien sûr slick, alomar ! Dorsey là a la basse good ! Very good. Ah j oubliais garson au piano génial. Il faut écouté l album alladin sane un des meilleurs album de Bowie avec station To station.
You asked the SAME Band and it isn't. STORYTELLERS 1999: Reeves Gabrels; Mark Plati; Mike Garson; Gail Ann Dorsey; Sterling Campbell; Holly Palmer & Lani Groves. OLYMPIA 2002: Earl Slick; Gerry Leonard; Mark Plati; Mike Garson; Gail Ann Dorsey; Sterling Campbell; Catherine Russell. However, an excellent version of a superb song!
@TruthAxe - You said "He was horrible live in the past, especially around 1978." I suggest you get a copy of "Resurrection on 84th Street". This performance here sounds good, but not nearly up to that standard!
Oh, man, just found out that there's a version of "Word on a Wing" with this band... I'm in heaven! I just cannot put the link in here! Sorry. Just try ...watch?v=iyEIU1MoEzM

This also applies to Mick Ronson. I'm glad he's finally been getting recognized for his work with Bowie. Rest in peace to both of them.
One of my favorites. Great version!!! He'll be truly missed. :-(
+carolaferrari I'm still feeling devastated.
+ewaf88 Me too...
I adored him and his work, since I was a teenager... and long years after... It ist a sooo big lost for our World of dreams..... :-/
One of the best Bowie songs ever. There are really no bad versions. A transitional composition. Fusion of all the best parts of electrified music.
I really appreciate Andrian Belew’s talent, but it was refreshing to have just a regular old, straight up lead guitarist playing on this version vs all the freaky guitar sound effects of Adrian Belew’s from other tours. 🤔
One of MOST BEAUTIFUL BASS !!! of the world music, and track, one of the best bowie for me. and doesnt known...
My heart is broken...never to be fully healed.
+julia brink I'm with you on that - part of me is missing. He can never be replaced - a creative genius and a warm family man.
ewaf88 true
Star Cothrin-Bowie I'm gong to a Bowie tribute concert so hopefully he'll come alive again in the songs
Your wife left you too?
omg, this is so fantastic, it's obvious the golden age of rock and roll has passed, there is nothing to even compare to this nowadays
One of my all-time favorites and well done here... Station To Station is his masterpiece, my turntable rocked the vinyl in real time...
I'm a long-time fan so how did I miss this amazing live version?! it feels like a gift after losing David...unforgettable, charming, talented, always evolving David 💝

Wow. That’s unbelievably good. Station to Station is such a good album.
splendide David
What a pity that I never saw him live in a concert, he is one of my favorite artists! Very individual, so much inspiration, a pure artist! ❤️❤️❤️
Master piece... STAY !!!
A masterpiece. My favorite number on one of my favorite Bowie albums. Lush and enveloping, but funky and edgy. I miss him so much.
"You can never really tell when somebody wants something you want too." Ain't it the truth David.
This is my favourite version of Stay! What a start for a show!!!!!!!!
I love the music, i adore the lyrics, it's brilliant!!!!!!!
And Bowie is glowing!!!!!!!
Timelessly good - just never gets old - everyone on their game +1....love it
Superb example of feeling no nerves, the mans a legend!!
and on the eighth day, God created Earl Slick on lead guitar..........
OH GOD, YES!
I can't get enough of him - I need a Bowie drip!

This is how to start a show !!!
Incredible vocal harmony around the 2:00 mark
STILL ON THE RADAR!.........incredible intro ladies and gentlemen.......This first pick up into the microphone of his words was super important after all that musical intro and crowd that kept my breath until his delivery--- then I felt this is going to be good.... waving perfectly into greatness!

Slick is great, but Adrian Belew is no slouch either!
I reckon this is one of my favorite Bowie tunes but obviously it's hard to choose, I gotta say Station to Station is like nothing else ever.

The best song ever.
