The VW 1.0 TSI engine is a three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine produced by Volkswagen Group. It has a displacement of 999 cc and is used in a variety of Volkswagen Group vehicles, including the VW Polo, VW Golf, and Audi A1.
Overall, the VW 1.0 TSI engine is generally well-regarded for its balance of power and fuel efficiency. It typically produces around 110 horsepower and 200 Nm of torque, which is impressive for its size. Additionally, the engine is relatively lightweight, which contributes to the overall efficiency of the vehicle.
One of the notable features of the VW 1.0 TSI engine is its use of a turbocharger, which helps to boost power and torque output. The engine also uses direct injection technology, which helps to improve fuel efficiency and reduce emissions.
In terms of reliability, the VW 1.0 TSI engine has generally been well-received by owners and automotive critics alike. However, like any engine, it can be prone to certain issues over time, such as carbon buildup on the intake valves or problems with the timing chain tensioner. It's important to keep up with regular maintenance and address any issues promptly to ensure the longevity of the engine.

If someone is feeling 1.0 is underpowered, i had similar doubts and was thinking that i made a mistake not putting in more money for a 1.5. !! Oh boy i was completely wrong. just yesterday i had a journey with 5 family members in including me and a an extra toddler, with some luggages in the back. Although i dont recommend high speed , i was cruising on 150, thats the highest i have gone in any car in my lifetime. Even for a quick slow down and overtakes it didnt feel any less powerfull it was smooth. And yes there is a minor lag near lower rpms and lower speeds in higher gears . Buts its been 3000 kms with this beast now and i’ve understood the car to neglect that delay.
Untill I drive a 1.5 i will not have any doubts over my slavia 1.0!!!
Sir, you see how UA-camrs spread negativity about 1.0 TSI ?
absolutely agree with you!
Paaji vw hyderabad not giving Spares support could you help me in this issue
Iam suffering with this issue so much
I have a polo 1.0 tsi and I did 190 effortlessly with 4 members in the car and surprisingly it was still pulling i had to slowdown because of traffic !!
Legends were waiting for this duo!! 😊
I was waiting for too 😊 Munish bhai 👍
Super fantastic video again and thank you for letting us know what beauty skoda 1.0 turbo engine is. Please bring such videos more often ❤❤
River of knowledge flowing, eyeopener! I learnt so much from this video in just 30 mins!! Great work guys
Congratulations Sunder on another great video discussion. Your tone and presentation is excellent and really pleasant to watch. Looking forward to more such discussions. Cheers!
What a superb video. The man has so much knowledge and you can see how eager he is to share in so much details. Great work Paaji. Keep up the good work
Mind boggling session watched in two separate time-slots so that i can grasp each every ounce of this knowledge !!
Please keep it doing guys !
Really this guy is a genius, love to hear him all day. As an enthusiast I'm just checking this video for quick look for 4/5 min and im end up watching whole video. Really liked the deep thoughts on 1.0 tsi engine.
Getting Taigun 1.0 AT next week. Bought it purely for the driving experience and partially for safety. Now understanding the internals of these engines is a pure bliss.
All doubts cleared. Thank you very much both of you.
Thank u very much for this video Bhai.. waiting for full fledged video on engine remap.. Was always interested in this topic but didn't realise that Manish ji would speak positively about it.. Now very very excited for that video❤
Awesome Session you and Munish Ji's Knowledge Is amazing and the way of points you put up is very mature and professional waiting for another part 😁 and yes if possible please make a session dedicated on paint protection, paint care , ceramic coatings

This is an excellent session truly provide one can follow each words that he mentioned and simultaneously draw a picture in mind...awesome
@Sunderdeep and @Munish-- Why you guys stress yourself about the length of the video. We love your content, it is really insightful. I can easily listen 1 to 1.5 hours of your videos. I am now really happy that my Slavia 1.0 can generate same power as 1.5. Waiting for skoda to initiate remapping of their vehicles.
Your videos are extremely informative and eye opening. Keep it up
Always a delight to watch/hear Munish ji..

Lovely!! Superb 👏👏👏 saving this video
The turbocharger with an electronically controlled bypass flap, as used in the K series Boosterjet 1.0 litre engine, allows for more precise control of the boost pressure and reduces turbo lag. However, it also adds complexity and cost to the system. The turbocharger with an integrated wastegate valve, as used in the 1.0 TSI engine, simplifies the system and reduces weight and space requirements. However, it may not be able to achieve the same level of boost pressure and responsiveness as the other type.
Your videos are too good, informative and entertaining.
So good to hear, so much knowledge and information. Please create podcast about motor vehicles. 🙏🏼
I was waiting for this explanation for a very long time 😍
Fully loaded knowledgeable video for enthusiasts.. waiting for remap video...!
Very insightful and not boring at the same time 👍🏼
Excellent and very informative discussion. Keep it up.

Sunderdeep bhai video lambi hone ki koi tension mat liya karo. Hum aap dono ko hi sunne aate hain aur kuch seekh ke jate hain. Bahar doston ko kehte hain jab cars ka discussion hota hai.
I have vw golf 1.0 with original 110hp and had it tuned to 135hp. It drives amazing
In India Golf is available?
Heads off Munish ji. You have a great knowledge about ENGINE'S. ❤
Great combination,keep it brothers 🎉👍
Really appreciate the information, keep up the good work!! What vento model is recommended for second hand, please also suggest key things to check before buying so that core items are not replaced
Thank you for this amazing information.
Listening to the term “ Capable of 270BHP” from a 1.0 engine is so satisfying ❤️
Man, I don’t know who he’s but he has tremendous knowledge. And he made sure not to make it boring.
U both are legends... Please bring more videos like this... 🙏🙏
Love from assam
Please make next video of ECU remapping
Cheers
Namaskar sunder deep ji
I have paid 28000/_ for driving ceat 2 months back but they not providing me new one
Very insightful. Very nice info on the 1.0 motor. Just 2 questions,
1) who is the person who is dead sure that all the same cc engines, etc 2.0tdi, used with extremely different tune high or low by the manufacturers have the exact same crank shaft and related components to handle related power differences
and
2) you have not also mentioned that one more amongst the varied parameters to be thought about while upgrading power via remaps is always keeping in mind how much of additional torque your vehicle gearbox is built to handle.
P.S. -if I had a Polo I would liked to have had that sourced remap 🤩
It’s such a knowledge feast to see u duo .. thanks a lot sir ji
What a wonderful session Paaji! I was waiting for you both to discuss on remapping, especially on German engines. I am already exploring this industry since the past 2 years and I think you should start exploring it too. You will be much more impressed after knowing the tuning capabilities of Germans. And just a small correction for Munish Ji, Code 6 and all other leading tuning frims have already rolled out stage 2 remaps for the 1.0 TSIs and already cars are running those tunes. It is just the matter of time till the tools for reading and writing the 1.5 TSI ECUs are developed as their tunes already exist. Just imagine how fun these stage 2 cars would be! Really loved the video 😊
Next I will ask Munish ji to dedicate a session on tuning only
@@SunderdeepSingh Yaa sure. And you should start exploring about tuning too!
If we tune 1.0 tsi then will it be equivalent to 1.5 tsi?
@@saikrishnarajubhimaraju5953yes it can produce equal power or even more power but if you can afford the 1.5 TSI, then better go for it
@@jethalalgada5 sad thing is I have already purchased slavia 1.0 last year ambition variant and 1.5 was not available in mid variant. Now I would have gone to 1.5
Very amazing & technically enriching info
Muneesh ji is a true car enthusiast , hard to find this kind of knowledgeable person about cars especially in india,, by the way i own a rapid dsg bought in 2018 and from that time till now my friends, family says " creta leta wo bdi hai ",, now i can show them videos of muneesh ji and tell them wht sort of master piece i have purchased
Thanku vanshaj ji 😊
Wow his videos has blast of knowledge 👍
Was waiting to see you two
Nice to see this informative video.😊
Awesome job guys ..hats off 🫡
Whatever he is saying is absolutely correct 💯💯 i myself have researched when buying car
Very informative video.
Bhai I remember I commented on one of your videos about the duration. I’m now a subscriber and I really appreciate these discussions. Thank you.
🙏
Great video thank you
Thankyou paaji.apke jodine muje bhokut sikaya. Iam a polo mpi 1.2 owner for last 11 year's but I am mad about my car like how you'll are. Great going friends you'll are really educating your viewers like a true professors.thank you iam planning to buy virtus 1.5 .do advice me which variant i should go for dsg/ manual. Love from Goa.
The only automobile engineering i trust is German as my father owned an Opel Astra 1.6 yes mileage was less but it was built to last long and very powerful still i have it using it from 23 years around 7lakh+ kilometres just once it was sent for engine correction that too after 5 lakhs kilometres
U both r amazing just like jodi of
Jai , veeru
Sachin and Ganguly
Salute both of u
Amazing concrete informative vedio ❤️
Great 👍 thumbs up
So great
Great ! please make a video on carbon buildup on intake valves in Direct Injection engines.
Great info Sirji, Does Code 6 tuning void the warranty?
Was waiting for your video desperately with this guy , what a title you people have chosen
Is something wrong with the title? I always choose simple titles rather than sensationalising things
@@SunderdeepSingh it's very appreciative title , good one .
I have only off late started watching your very informative and impressive podcast... Being in the automotive industry for years, I have managed to gain much insight and knowledge which was probably not spoken about or discussed..... I'm contemplating buying a Kushaq only after seeing your video... Keep up the good job...

Very Usefulll Video

Wonderful session veerji , what you say about dct transmission , is it a good buying option, and what are the problems, could you figure out SIR.

Very insightful session.. literally got goosebumps!!!! Paaji engine remapping ke upar jaldi video banaye..
Simply wow!
Munishji,Can you tell some information about Honda's VTEC TURBO engine selling in other markets in next video
Their 1.5 VTEC TURBO makes 180bhp stock where VW's makes 150bhp..
Also Honda not even considering turbo engines for indian market..If cost was the reason then vw wouldn't launched their tsi engines in india..
We can't forget that Honda launched City with Proper 1.5 VTEC, Accord V6 etc which was a rocket then realised that indians want mileage resulting VTEC to i-VTEC..
They should consider 1.0 and 1.5 VTEC turbos for India but I think they aren't considering because of mainly four reasons:
1. Very less sales volume, less profit
2. They r treating indian market as 3rd grade which they actually doing by not launching good cars like HRV, Civic,Crv,Brv etc
3. Reliability issues because of india's poor fuel quality and they don't want to spoil their name in Reliability
4. They want to focus on Hybrids instead of turbos as turbo engines delivers less fuel efficiency and hybrids delivers the most and indians want fuel efficiency that's why...
I think honda makes one of the best engines worldwide and known for their reliability also...Last year's F1 race says it all..
golfR with same power as civic typeR being much heavy than civic still smokes the shit out of civic type r in drag and potential honda just makes cheap plastic shits whereas vw is all about premium feel
@@mandeepsingh9469 Even Heard of Reliability?? Which makes Honda and Toyota in the top of the Chart in the world..Honda is all about practicality, overall good cars
drag races?? Only Stupids have enough time to watch drag races on UA-cam and do it on daily basis..
Talking about Plastics? Have u seen any of these cars?? Lol just sitting on sofa and watching videos of these two cars and guessing the quality which is better..What about poor interior plastic quality plastic of 2.0 cars? Don't be fanboy
Grow up!!
@@mandeepsingh9469 who said that Honda makes cheap plastic shit there US line up is way better and cars are built like tank and talking about Golf R its AWD and Civic Type R is FWD so Golf has a benefit over there and apart from that Golf R is 8000 - 10000 Euros more expensive than Civic Type R , The newest Civic Type R has already created numbers in Nurburgring FWD car lap record. Just because you are blind fan of VW that does not mean other car brands are shit 😃 There are way better cars than VW as well remember there is always a bigger fish better than you , Be a mature guy love cars irrespective of any brand. Visit any gulf countries or Japan you will know what car culture is.
@@RohitTripathy07 gulf countries preffer americans, germans, italians more than jdms 80% of them dont like jdms when it comes to stock performance i have seen too much of their videos criticizing japanese and japanese cars have very cheap ugly plastic interiors jdms are super cheap looking cars
@@mandeepsingh9469 ohhh i believe you have watched car expert reels that dumb has zero knowledge about cars only brags about cars on reels wearing a emirati suit . Any what did you say UAE people hate JDM's just go and google it LC , Patrol , FJ cruiser are the most selling SUV's in UAE even GtR is a add on in dubai police convoy . Keyboard Warrior 😂 JDM's are shit because you guys have been watching people talking shit about JDM's Grow up kid
Mazaa aa gaya sir apki knowledge ko sunn kar...❤❤
Man...I missed these videos as much as I used to miss Game of Thrones episodes...270bhp, 272Nm completely blew my mind...please make these videos more frequently...humble request!!!
Wonderful session.
Would like to know in a session about 4 channel abs in vag cars.
Huge respect for 1.0 tsi 👏👌👍
Thnks for information sir..🙏
Very insightful session. Just wanted to know one more thing. If 1.0 TSI is working on 30-40% pf capacity then shouldn't the VAG increase the potential since they are facing AC issues at slow speeds? 1.5 does not have this issue only 1.0 has.
Maybe they are taming it bit too much.
Happy to see two legends again. But most important question for me was about Vento injectors and that got omitted.😞
Next video is on that only ;)
Superb Knowlwdge... ❤
Please keep video very precise and core to the topic supported by facts. Although good initiative really appreciate it. ❤️👌
Sure 👍
Glad to see your discussion video again paaji, aap kbse dharna kr rhe hai polo k liy ,hm teyari kr lete hai kuch banner bnake 😄 ❤
Bro there are so many videos going around regarding VCDS or OBDeleven tweaks for VW groups cars.
Could you share your thoughts on these tweaks ? Does this voids your car warranty as it’s being done at software level.
Does the tuning improve fuel efficiency.... How much does it cost..approximately .
1.0L AT Taigun is a flying car in "Sports" mode
Then drag it to my slavia 1.0😂😂😂
Great knowledgeable video.
TSI ENGINE ❤
Best talk.
Never end.
Brilliant video.. I have Skoda slavia 1.0.. love the car.. was planning to replace Honda Civic (2019) next year with KIA EV6.. but after hearing how German technology is far superior than Koreans, will definitely wait for a better EV from Germans house
Can we have remap comparison with MPI and vtec engine? It is better to have apple (NA) to apple (NA) comparison. This will give the right picture of change in output after stage one.
BTW 1.0 turbo ivtec with stage 1 map is rated at 150 BHP and 250 NM.
Also when you talk about 1.0 TSI peak torque and compare it with 1.5 NA, can we factor in torque distribution of both the engines?
Next level conversation 🎉
My Volkswagen Ameo Diesel has covered 2.16 lacs kms in 6.5 years, still going very strong....Few things would like to mention,
Still it easily touches the speed of 180 kms per hour .
Gives a fantastic mileage at an average speed of,
70-75 - 35 plus
100 km/hr - 27
120 - 150 plus - 21
1st Clutch work done after 1.30 lacs, still no issues with AC.
Thats why i am a Huge fan of German Cars.
worth watching 💯
Please make more videos with Manish ji, they are very interesting and informative. Please don’t forget to make video on re-mapping soon.
Is it preferable to install cng in TSI 1.0 litre engine ? if yes than which company?
#munishji #sunderdeepji, thanks again for doing great great job for spreading the awareness and for sharing the amazing fact that 1.0 TSI can go upto 200+kW at its highest state of tune.
Can u share the link for this information... just curious to know.
Well all this discussion leads me to think whether VAGs entered the Indian market just to cater to a small bunch of enthusiasts or to get a decent mkt share, volumes, etc. Somewhere their priorities seem a bit misplaced.
While I have no hopes from taigun/kushaq as they look a size smaller than their intended segment , Slavia/Virtus are great products and hope they do well. Also want to see polo GT back, which remains the best hot hatch till date !
One more observation- they reduced the fuel tank size of slavia/Virtus to 45 litres from the earlier 55 litres in Vento/Rapid......now that they are petrol only, they needed the larger tank for a good range.......and less pit stops😊......
I ❤ both of you
Sunder jee and Munish jee
Grate sir think for session...
Please check videos of mukesh Chandra gond (noida) he will tell you that most reliable engines are of maruti and Hyundai not these German brands
Even if they brought 270hp in a lab that doesn't tell you how many minutes did the engine last without breaking down
Ek hii dil hai…..sunder deep aur Munish Paaji….kiiteee baar jeetogee 😇👍🏻🙏🏻😄
I've driven ,virtus and slavia 1.0tsi ,both but never felt they are turbo powered...felt completely nosie free, and happy to revv engines...
Nvh levels are top class
I am planning to buy xuv300 TGDI W8-O next week. Cost is approx~15.5L on road (don't careabout segment as both have similar space, not really concerned on boot space). I understand you have inclination towards taigun/kushaq, but I can only go for 1.0 in my budget. I am only confused between these 3 cars, would appreciate any guidance on the same. Thanks!
Always gets goose bumps when Munish ji explain about german engines.
Thanks alot 😊
Interesting session, lots of learning today.
Future session:

Hello experts (Sunderdeep and Munish Ji)
I have been watching your videos regularly and I am overwhelmed by the detailed information provide by you both. sometimes I watch your videos repeatly.
I need your recommendation as I am planning to buy a compact SUV/SUV. If you get few minutes please answer the below question.
We are a small family and my budget would be around 17-18 Lakh and I need good features in the vehicle. My driving will not be must as I am in IT and get the opportunity to work from home. However I love to go for long drive and I enjoy driving a lot on long trips. I am looking for few things as MUST HAVE in the SUV is : AT gearbox, Ground Clearance must be decent, Safety 5 start and should have decent mileage.
1. Sedan vs SUV/Compact SUV : please suggest the name of the vehicle ?
2. Kushaq/Tigun or Mahindra 3XO ?
3. Shall I go for any strong Hybrid ? If yes which one.
Thanks & Regards
Abhishek
Really a great video.
I have swift vdi ist generation.
1.5 plus km running. Sometimes rpm goes shoot but power not to wheels. It's looks like slipping.
Could you please comment on this fix this issue.
