    I always check out your vids. We were in Italy a month ago and coincidentally we did the same Pincio walk after Borghese Gallery. Cafe Edy, Between Via Margutta and Babuino is a great family run restaurant. We spent four days in Abruzzo and I was able to find my grandfather's home town of Castel Castagna but due to the continual rains , we were not able to get a look at the Gran Sasso. Rome has become very crowded since my last visit in 2017. I also don't remember as many tourists with backpacks , shorts and tennies. Much more casual now. Thanks for the tip about the night Vatican Tour. It was fabulous.

      Yes and they moved to near Via Nazionale later and then a lot of factors caused them to close after 9/11 - the Euro, the internet, etc. There are still some English language bookstores in the area, most notably the Anglo American Bookstore on via della Vite.

    I’m staying at Via Frattina 38

    From Via Frattina 38, what would the street directions be, or the point-of-interest be to join a starting point on your walking tour route?

    • @Romewise
      @Romewise  11 місяців тому +1

      Hi Joh, and what a great place to stay! I love via Frattina. In the description of the video, I linked to my Google map:
      My Google Map for this walk: tinyurl.com/47kxshny
      It may not be 100% the exact spots I showed in this video, but it should do the trick! From where you are staying, you could walk over to Piazza Mignanelli, and walk up the back stairs to the top of the Spanish Steps so you could start the walk from there.

      Also, what is the street route and walking distance to the nearest Tourist Infopoints from Via Frattina 38?

    • @Romewise
      @Romewise  11 місяців тому

      The nearest PIT from you is at Minghetti PIT (Tourist Information) Point, which is on Via del Corso, just past the Trevi Fountain. I suggest walking from via Frattina to Via del Corso, making a left, and walking to the PIT from there. About 10 minutes. You can find the exact route with Google maps. Otherwise if you are just asking where you can find statues of her in Rome, there are a couple of spots I know of.
      One would be at the church dedicated to her. The church of Santa Maria Maddalena near the Pantheon. Another place you can find a statue of her is inside the church of San Bernardo alle Terme.

      Yes we have a lot of great markets in Rome. I have a page about them here:

      You won't find much in the way of markets on this video, although I did mention Campo dei Fiori which is close to Piazza Navona and you could include it on this walk if you have time and energy.

    With these chronic prolonged heatwaves we italians should start to wear hats again, like you do and like tourists do and as everyone did until the '50's.

      My mom always says to wear a hat in the sun, and she is right! It definitely makes a difference.

    I would recommend lighting up a candle and not a chapel. 😅

      Ha ha! You are so right! Good catch!
      Seriously though, you may more likely find a light with a coin-operated switch, than you will actual candles. They are getting less common.

      Yes. LED tea lights are becoming the norm (I presume for fire prevention). Even at St Peter's, though Santa Maria degli Angeli et dei Martiri still had votive candles when I was last there...

      @@dgschindele Yes, I'm seeing the candles less and less. They do have them in the Florence cathedral but not in St. Peter's. You will also find them here in Rome at Santa Prassede, among other churches (this one just comes to mind because I was there recently.)
