    Thanks for the places to eat etc.

    Elyssa, Great videos and very useful information. I was looking for such videos for other cities and there is none as good as yours. Simply the best! We will be heading to visit Italy shortly and have a question: In minute 16:00 of this video you mentioned that we need to book the tours that have direct access to Saint Peter's Basilica. I tried your links and there are plenty different tours and I don't know which one has this access. Can you clarify it please?

      @Romewise  12 годин тому

      Thank you so much for letting me know you find my videos helpful! Yes, I agree, taking a tour that allows you to use the shortcut between the Sistine Chapel and the basilica is a great idea.
      I show different tours because many companies offer this tour. You may want to select one based on the group size, time its offered, price etc.

    I sometimes hear of people's tours being canceled last minute, so is it safest to book directly with the official sites for my once in a lifetime trip? I am going during Jubliee and would hate to have a tour canceled, after I have spent all this time and money for this visit. Thanks so much for all your insight!!!

    • @Romewise
      @Romewise  21 день тому

      Yes, I recommend booking through the official sites if you just want an entry ticket or basic tour. If you want a more complete tour, you will have to book through a third party. The chances of your tickets being cancelled depend on the kind of visit you are looking for. Standard entry to the Colosseum is easy to come by and those tickets / tours are unlikely to be cancelled even through a third party.
      If you are looking for the highly sought after underground or night tickets, there is a huge demand and limited supply, so it's impossible for everyone to be able to get these tickets, and therefore, yes, sometimes those booked through a third party can be cancelled because they simply cannot get the tickets.

      @Romewise Aventine Hill seems a bit far. It's after Circus Maximus from memory. When I was last in Rome, I walked in and around Palatine Hill, Roman Forum, Colloseum (including Arch of Constantine) and Circus Maximus and I was done 🤣🤣🤣 Time to head back to the hotel to rest my feet 🛌 No time for Aventine Hill

      Those areas I just mentioned will last a whole day. I spent the most time in Palestine Hill because it was so big and long. 🏰 The least amount of time I spent was in the Colloseum.🏟 Looking back, I wished I spent more time in the Roman Forum to really study the Arch of Titus and especially the Arch of Septimius Severus ⛩️⛩️

      Well it does when you visit the Vatican Museums in the room of Constantine. But it's not often mentioned as a tourist attraction, you are right. It's a bit far from most sites, and it's actually not that interesting to look at IMO.

      @@lilpenny1982 Yes, that's why it's the focus of a huge fresco inside the Room of Constantine in the Vatican Museums. When you take a tour of the Vatican Museums, the guides talk quite a bit about this fresco and the history behind it.

      @Romewise I've been to the Vatican Museum and unfortunately I can't remember seeing this painting. I can only remember the wall of maps, Raphael's Room and Sistine Chapel.

      @@lilpenny1982 The Room of Constantine is one of the Raphael Rooms. However, it was under a long restoration and has only recently been visitable. I hope you'll come back to Rome to see it! You can see it in this video where I feature it:
