    I have to say. Boiling your potatoes before air frying them is a must because it gives your home fries the texture that you would get at a diner. Crispy on the outside & soft, tender & fluffy on the inside. I would recommend anyone to not skip the boiling step because it produces the best results yet!

    I made your air fryer potatoes recipe & I air fried them at 390°F for 20 mins because I combined my home fries recipe that I use to make home fries with your air fryer potatoes recipe by adding the boiling step & they turned out crispy on the outside & creamy on the inside.

      @@inthekitchenwithmatt The next time I make home fries, I want to try boiling the potatoes for 10 mins instead of 6 mins to see how they come out when I air fry them. They hopefully will taste delicious.

    Hi Matt, people are adding baking powder or carbonat to the boiling water to get extra crunchiness and giving flavour to the oil with garlic and rosemary or with any optional spices here in Türkiye just wanted to share. Greetings...

    What a pfaff! I just cut up pots, microwave for 5 mins, toss in oil, salt, pepper and (optional herbs) and chuck in air fryer. I use a silicon rubber liner insert so that the air fryer does not need to be washed. So just one microwave bowl to wash up and the silicon rubber insert. Much quicker. I do baked and roast pots like this too. For extra crispiness, toss oily pots in couscous before air frying.

      @inthekitchenwithmatt  3 місяці тому

      Use the microwave if you want. It isn't that much faster a few minutes, for these, just the time it takes to boil the water, which if you have gas water boils super fast. I know I have done it both ways many many times. Total time saved for this particular recipe using a microwave vs boiling is only 5 to 10 minutes tops. Lots of people do not like using a microwave. And it tastes a bit different.

      @@inthekitchenwithmatt Thanks for reply. Actually it would maybe make a great video to compare microwave method Vs boil in pan method. It would need to be a double-blind trial with at least 5 testers and using identical batches and same air fryer. I wonder which they would prefer?

      Thank you!! Yes I used Russets, although it really doesn't matter, you can do this with any potatoes, even sweet potatoes. :) Although with sweet potatoes I would probably take the skin off.

      @@inthekitchenwithmatt Hi Matt, I made these delicious potatoes and they turned out great!
      I boiled them first, then put them in the oven - delicious. I pan fried the leftovers the next day and that enhanced the flavors even more.

    I have to say. Once you make home fries in your air fryer & doing the boiling the potatoes step in your recipe, I promise that you will never go back to eating potatoes any other way including making potato wedges or French fries.

    • @inthekitchenwithmatt
      @inthekitchenwithmatt  2 місяці тому

      They are definitely good, just like these but in the shape of fries.

    • @maxduong4537
      @maxduong4537 2 місяці тому +1

      @@inthekitchenwithmatt So you mean that French fries & potato wedges are also good as well, but just in the shape of fries?
      The texture of homemade home fries in the air fryer is just unbelievable. The boiling step is really the secret to achieving a crispy texture on the outside & a creamy texture on the inside & seasoning it with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika & chili powder for flavor & to make them even crispier. I am obsessed with making home fries in my air fryer. Potatoes are very healthy for you & doing them this way is a super healthy way to incorporate nutrients into your body while enjoying that loud crunch & that very fluffy & creamy interior.
