Lucky you, unfortunately I haven't been able to see my penis since. Not because of the song title I'm just fat.
@@whatisahandleplz that made me laugh harder than it should have
Nice lol
Yeah, I haven't seen any of my turds in the crapper since I heard this tunage.
Wtf are you doing it the comments? Didn't jens just fucking tell you "don't look down"?
Oh yea? And what abou- GOD DAMMIT
ALSO TO NOT BELIEVE ANYBODY WHAT THEY TELL YOU, SO LOOK DOWN, DONT LOOK DOWN, DO WHAT YOU WANT.
Jokes on you.
I flipped my phone upside down. So now i have to look up at the comments.
Ho HOH!
Before djent, it was simply known as Meshuggah
Meshuggah kinda invented the term djent as a joke.
@@MrBonokyra Not a joke, but misunderstending made by alcohol.
They apologise for this :D.

This comment seems like a big deal. Could someone explain it to me?
Hard to believe that this song IS 10 years old
one of the grooviest songs to ever exist, Koloss is an absolute masterpiece and barely anyone gives it the credit it deserves, cover to cover every song is a masterpiece
It's funky
@@emwhaibeewhat's so special about 88???
11 years old soon 12 :)
Hell yeah. Koloss is an absolute banger.
I love how Meshuggah aren't even an english band, but they write better lyrics than I could ever dream of.
it comes from other realms.
In my opinion Meshuggah has Sweden's best metal lyrics in their discography as a whole, but Quorthon (Bathory) has so much genius English songwriting in his discography as well so it's a tie
You mean American
I love how this is the first time I’ve ever heard this song and then I read these comments! It’s like having your cake and then eating it too. Then it’s so damn good you have more than you’re share. Then you get sick from it….like discombobulated. No wait, dis eased perhaps. You even think it’s possible you’ll die for having so much more than you need. I mean the chance is definitely there. And the longer you eat the cake, the longer it is before you ever see King PeePeePee when you look down again. Then it’s at that point you decide maybe it’s not so bad not being able to see down…I mean cause Meshuggah said not to look down if ya wanna fly maybe. No that’s not it. I’m rambling.
It’s obvious the point is to….not ummmm do anything to others that you would not want done to yourself. Perhaps also meaning don’t look a gift horse in the mouth, I think the cliche saying is…..hmm, maybe it’s just be grateful you’re alive and it is best to spend the rest of your life lifting or ascending higher through love. Let others choose and you choose also. There is a time to stay silent, no doubt.
This is for many (including myself) a challenging lesson to say the least. I’m grateful future generations have the opportunity to advance, or shall I say, “Ketchup” (Pulp Fiction) to the level of consciousness required to enjoy life at its most satisfying.
Yeah, this song reminds me, how lucky I am to be who and where I am at this very moment. Also to strive until my last breath for depth in understanding.
@@msunderstanding3198 I love finding people who fit exactly into the demo who’d love Meshuggah like you do. Live long and rock on 🤘
Listening to Meshuggah makes your brain release dopamine

addictive as fuck

@@vinodkumaraug Random nerd moment: maybe try one like Wellbutrin, it will increase your available norepinephrine and dopamine instead of working on serotonin 😜
dont look down, cause all you're gonna find are some shitty comments about people talking about time signatures
I like how the very next comment you see when you scroll down from yours completely confirms your point
It's all in 4/4, anyway. :S
Those are the good comments though.
May have took some years, but I think people really are starting to appreciate Meshuggah nowadays. Mind-warping complexity make this boy happy.
These lyrics are really confronting me on an incredibly personal level.
I'm an aspiring illustrator who originally wanted to use my art to tell stories and promote beautiful music but throughout my education I have been told to use my abilities to help advertising. All while this is happening I keep becoming more and more aware of cruelty and injustice being committed around the world as we speak. I'm not only looking down, but jumping down. The beast of truth has his tongue around my ankles.
That's an awesome poetic comment right here. Originally I felt sorry for you, but the I realize you are just describing growing up into adult world we all suffer in.
i hope you're doing well & haven't given up on what you want your art to represent

You're absolutely right. I don't like meshuggah but I really enjoy listening to this song.
rourke069 I fucking love Meshuggah.
22 years a guitarist and songwriter, with a musical ear. This song has now been put on my 15 best ever metal songs ever published on an accessible record label.
wow what an honor, aka who gives a fuck
Charles Coco absolute bantz xD
Meshuggah actually do have a 4/4 "groove" feel. That's part of the reason of why I love them -- the crazy polyrhythmic sound makes it feel like the 4/4 groove is *about* to break into something completely different, but it never actually does. Makes a wonderful, suspenseful "on edge" sound.
edging yourself
Syncopated bass and drums to a 4/4 beat is irresistible.
The secret is that at least one player is playing 4/4 at all times. In this case, it's Thomas Haake playing 4/4 on the hats and snare, while the kick and guitars/bass are playing 17/16 (but think of it more like 4/4 with an extra 16th note hanging off the end).
Yes🤨😘
They form tension in their songs that never releases. It can either be stressful or oddly soothing.
this one is funky as hell... that beat skips along like a kid in the rain .... this is not a "band" - this is an experience
probably best rock climbing music i can find.

it's incredible how the intro gets heavier just by adding some crash cymbals.
Oh my god, 2:59 ... One of the most epic riffs I've ever heard.
The lyrics of Meshuggah's songs are so well written in so many ways.
These guys started out as a band who had to think, write down, practice over and over again, and then repeat in order to make music like this. They still have to think and practice, and without a doubt still write down the signatures whenever they are in writing mode. They are just so damn good at it now because they have been doing it for so long that the thinking part is 2nd nature and they pump out songs like this in no time. Superb musicians still use the basic tools to create greatness.
I believe with the entirety of my heart that Meshuggah is the pinnacle of metal
Me too 🤘🏻
Facts, but there are still bands paving the way for the evolution of metal! 🤘
its sick how the solo comes in and it has like a classic rock vibe
yea and its still got that fredrik and holdsworth sound too.
Holy crap these lyrics are deeper than the Marianas Trench.
That main riff is so hypnotic. I love how Meshuggah manages to make so many riffs with that effect.
This song fits when you're in the changeroom and it's full of naked hairy fat guys
Jesus H Christ no, mine is bigger. Trust me.......its bigger.

Sickening...
that's pretty sick. you know what's even sicker? the fact that it's obviously his second language, too. his lyrics are pure genius, as is his timing
Apparently Swedes are REALLY good at speaking English, I've heard. Well, Meshuggah would be enough evidence.
It’s like I want to pay attention to that solo so bad but the groove won’t let me go 😂
I wonder when Sweden will change their name to Meshuggah.
Then they'll be Yiddish
Agreed, although i would put Malmsteen first ;)
ABBA might have something to say about that lol
@@Metal_Dinosaur ABBA always gets the finest honors and is still raking in the $billions. It's not fair! But i'm sure Meshuggah would give the honor to ABBA anyway, most metal musicians in Sweden have a great deal of respect/love for ABBA.
@@LoudnessJP absolutely bro without question. ABBA are a global phenomenonon practically a religion in some circles ? \m/
It appears Meshuggah is finally getting the recognition they deserve. One of the top metal bands of this era
Absolute masterpiece. From a somewhat limited perspective. I love the funk in that track, but the lyrics are what makes it all make sense.
Its so good to listen to Meshuggah when high, it's quite literally the best feeling one can have.
dat power, dat ecstasy
been doing that once a week at least lol
It's the greatest feeling ever, regardless of being high or not.
So truuuuu
I guess I experienced this feeling you try to imply at Dying Fetus concert. The sense of the certainty and realization of power. Rigidness , levity and assurance. I am sure I will experience same emotions with Meshuggah.
One of Meshuggah's best if not the best.
This song contains probably the coolest solo fredrik has ever done
facts
Wile E. Coyote certainly agrees with those words
I’m convinced Meshuggah has me in a trance, not complaining
Such a positive song, but haters will say different..."strive, become the essence of your goals..." bro...hell yeah I will
No one hates Messhuggah or You..Welcome home..you solved the Puzzle =)
@@fransnilsson7333 🤘
These lyrics are not positive nor negative, they are very ambiguous... i see that line you quoted as "let your existence meaning be limited to what your ego wants in a material manner, just as mother nature wants it to be",in other words "be animalistic", i see it this way because of the "hereditary dream" that comes afterwards. This point of view of mine is pessimistic, so i like your point of view more, it's more optimistic.
@@gavabundo_0072 I don't think there's nothing positive in this song, like an advice or anything like that lol. To me it's obvious he's criticising how people are generally very egoistic, following only their own goals, and destorying anything that stands in their path to achieve these goals with no regard for others.
It took me a long time to "get into" Meshuggah, largely I think, because I'm old and Meshuggah makes Metallica and Megadeth feel like elevator music in comparison. But DAMN! Every time I give myself the time to fully absorb a new (for me) Meshuggah tune, I always come away amazed and inspired. As it happens, it was the lyrics for "Do Not Look Down" that turned me into a fan of this particular song. The message is spot on, as is the musicianship :)
i love that the whole song screams GROOVE O CLOCK while the solo is blues as hell, amazing
meshuggah is thousend times better as the typical radiomusic
Well, if the world blows up tomorrow, we can al die happy knowing that a band nailed this form of sound. I just let it inspire me.
Vocals with no reverb or delay, and sounds damn cool

If you're reading this, then bravo for looking down at the abysmal beast of nonconformity ;) It's so worth it
I love that solo, its so different and yet pleasing to the ear.
The lyrics are amazing! Provoke a lot of thought, for me, anyways. I think Haake writes most of them. Pretty sharp dude, and a helluva drummer.
jonesy97 -Search "Gnosis",trippy as perspective of things.
Smh
The transition where Haake reveals the intro beat has been in 4/4 the entire time is fucking mind bending.
This just shows that not only are Meshuggah the best at making metal music, but also the best at writing lyrics to accompany them. Deep, dark stuff.
Dillon Ethier Yo if you like these guys look up Lamb of god, they're my other favourite band :)
Dude, thats mainly Thomas Haake with the lyrics. Such a talented bunch of musicians.
man... for real, this kind of music makes the life worth !!!!
i love meshuggah solos. they make me think im in a ghost house on super mario bros. good stuff

The lyrics are so fitting today
Meshuggah stepped out of their comfort zone and really experimented with their sound with this album. Really great!! I love it!!
This song is getting me many looks in the Stars drive in….. mission complete…. this song rules on so many levels.
Meshuggah will aways be the best.
This album is super under appreciated!
Still haven't built up the courage to look down
It's been years buddy, you'll need to at some point
The lyrics are filled with too much truth, if you get what they're saying, it could really make you think and consequently go into depression. This song is so beautiful, it hurts.
Foda-se a depressão!
There is some serious castaneda-esque vibe in their lyrics IMO
SEEING THEM IN FLORIDA!!! FINALLY!!!
Meshuggah, LaDies and Djents. Masters of the heavy groove.
I once had a dream that the entire worlds population was forcibly taken up into blimps...thousands of them all in the sky, and when I ripped a whole in one of the sides of the blimps I could see billions of corpses floating in the ocean...This should have been the soundtrack to that dream
Meshuggah is a masterclass in musical mastery.
"Great viable citizen"
Are you happy now?
Then praise your God and bow!
Love that bit
Meshuggah is truly GOD’S MUSIC.
Goddamn this band is amazing
Real OGs know how awesome the part is at 3:41 ...those few notes are so crazy coming from this band. Absolutely delicious.
It's amazing to see how they can be inovative without losing the heaviness. This and Periphery are probably my favorites because of it (come on, P3 has it's groovy tracks)
The unique feature with Meshuggah is the compatibility with the scary imagery and addicting rythms/riffs which hit you without even noticing it. This album has really grown in me since it came out, and as much as i love Bleed, i think this album tops Obzen.

Not Mozart speaking from experience ? 0.0
All you good people just feel the groovy music. That's why they're making it for us.
Forget about the pretentious conversations about the band's eternal polymetric explorations. Yes anyone with ears has always noticed that 4\4 is almost always the base rhythm and that it's almost always not the only rhythm being simultaneously played. Yes yes yes.
So forget it and just feel the GROOVE. Just bop your head and air-bass-guitar, or shake your hips and make your girl shake her hips to this groovyliciousness right here! Woohoo!
Who's your dealer?

Holdsworth ran so Fredrik could fly.

Yeah these guys just don't ever stop challenging themselves as musicians and songsmiths. The limitations of whatever their previous effort was tends to always get overshadowed by whatever they come out with next. These guys were around to trailblaze in the mid 90's and have been on the war path ever since. Fuck any haters, this is probably one of the most influential, if not important metal bands from the 90's. And they're still challenging the standards they set in their own genre.
What sins will you commit to avoid your sins be seen?
Haven't heard this since it came out. Never forgot that line.
