Emile Styx gojira aren't exactly death metal. in terms of vocals, death metal consists only of growling or screeching (or both). gojira do not only have growling/screeching, but have clean vocals in their songs as well, that fact alone shows that gojira is not a death metal, because death metal does not consist of clean vocals. gojira is a progressive band with death metal influences, but it is not a death metal band.
chris formosa except there are plenty of pretty clear cut death metal bands that use clean vocals. skinless, yyrkoon, cattle decapitation, etc.. All that said, I would agree that gojira is progressive metal band with death metal influences, because the instrumentation itself, not the vocals, makes death metal.

I have no idea as to why I would have sold it in the first place. AMAZING album and it hurts to listen to now.

I've known about this band for years but only discovered this album a couple of days ago. I think I've listened to it a hundred times since to make up for lost time.
Saw them live in 2019. They were opening for Slipknot (opening... smh). Anyway, to my surprise, they played this song and it was the greatest moment of my life. So heavy and the wall of sound... it was like standing behind a fleet of B-1 Lancers doing 100% engine runs on the flightline.
