I opened up for Buck when I was 15 (1963) the Buckaroos backed me up for 3 songs and Don Rich sang Harmony. Two of the finest people I ever met

I loved hearing & seeing Buck & Don playing at large & small venues all over the Bay Area. Buck seemed to change a lot after Don was killed. That was such a sad time.

Amen brother. I had the opportunity to present Don Ulrich with a distinguished alumnus award from his high school, Olympia High School. The award was given posthumously. I was able to get to know his widow Marlane and his boys Vick and Vance. This was in 2009. I prepared a 10-minute video to show the audience. I grew up in the same town, only about 16 years younger, and didn't know him. Fortunately, I knew many people who remembered Don, many contributed to the video, which can be seen at: ua-cam.com/video/0aXIEjdCLV4/v-deo.html

Everyone in the Buckaroos is working their absolute tail off on stage, but watching Willie Cantu in this episode is a master class- his feel and pocket are so deep and his range is humongous. Oh yeah, Orange Blossom Special! I love that song so much! I've heard lots of different versions; Johnny Cash and Roy Clark dueted on one. I even heard a band on The Benny Hill Show play it(can't remember their names, though...🤔😫).

Donny hung out in Spokane where he was brought up of course, when ever he could. One time he eyed my sis but she (was with someone) had her best friend go for him. She died in a motorcycle accident and a while after. Donny died in the same way. Don Rich was tops.
