YES! There has never been a performer more deserving than Don Rich for the honor of induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame. I pray that can happen for his family.
@@Farrah300 in nearly all of his studio albums it was buck singing his own harmony. live shows and some of their later albums is when don sang harmony.
I remember when Don's accident happened. Awful thing. My folks were torn up about it.. I was 6 yrs. old. I read somewhere an interview with Buck, some years after it happened, how dead set against motorcycles he was. I think Doyle Holly had one at some point and maybe Willie Cantu. He tried his best to talk Don out of buying one and tried to impress upon him just how dangerous they were. He said Don just laughed it off. Sad, sad event that is burned into my memory!
Don went to college for music and was a accomplished violinist in classical music, he was the real deal! And he was adopted! The style he played was all Buck Owens,Don opened for Elvis once before he met up with Buck!
Well, Don left college soon after starting and Buck took him back with open arms!! It’s said that Don was the only true friend Buck ever had and was always there for Buck… I heard a podcast today cocaine and rhinestones. Lots of booze among other things.
Today's country music doesn't compare to country music from yesteryear. Banjos, steel guitars and just all around feel good music. From toe tapping tunes to ones that would bring a tear to your eye. Buck Owens was my favorite male singer, along with Don Rich and Buddy Alan. They sure don't make them like that anymore.
To see someone so thankful and kind and funny on there own TV program is vary up lifting. To me Hee HaW was a continuation of this show with about ten more superstars employees and some became a regular on this show, interesting.

One of the songs showcased a masterful call and response between Don on the Tele and the steel guitar player. Brilliant stuff, and they made it look and sound so easy.
The performers back then wore these fancy suits, which was a part of the country music scene. Today;s stars come out in a t-shirt. Nothing is the same anymore. Don Rich was (to me) as big a star as Buck was.

Fantastic wee tune It's such a Pretty World Today. It just makes me smile, especially with smiling Don Rich joining in. They both were great talents in those hey days of country music.
Buck and the Buckaroos were hands down the best live country act out there in the '60s. Fiddle player Don Rich was Buck's prodigy on the guitar and in no time outplayed his teacher! He had quite a style and helped make the Fender Telecaster a staple in country music. Also noteworthy is Kay Adams was among the first female country singers to sing truckdriver songs. She is one of the most underrated and overlooked girl singers in country music.
What a band! These guys are so locked in..I assume the musicians played and practiced so much. They were "Road Hot" and "Studio Hot" Just watching drummer first 1.5 minutes and listening to his hi hat shuffle. is so good.

I totally agree that Buck’s group had fancy suits. They don’t look so nice 👍 anymore, looking more like they’re poor. Ya! Buck and Band.❤️❤️❤️from Ontario Canada 🇨🇦
Well....the Flying Burrito Brothers did their job on the following Altamont festival and although that festival has been overshadowed because of the Hells'Angels turmoil there, the Burritos did a very fine job as opening act. They did for country as much as Buck did here on this show and I'm pretty sure the public at Altamont had a hell of a time also. And as for Woodstock: Joan Baez did some wonderful country songs there. So it is not that country music was lacking at that festival either.
@TheJanka51 Not at all. Buck and the Buckaroos were huge, and a lot of rock acts knew their music--and very much appreciated Don's and Tom's musicality. The "hippies" knew their music--a lot of young musicians back then were very much into bluegrass (some of them led there by the Grateful Dead; others through their interest in acoustic music, generally)--and Don's fiddle playing fit right in. Even The Beatles were big fans of The Buckaroos. They used to swap releases when their new albums came out.
Went there all playing Act Naturally you can tell Buck and Don have that brotherly love. And that is so sweet to see again, on the big screen. Will now its a little computer monitor.
