Oh yeah. I personally think that the Dragons do have some semblance of emotion originating from their former selves, but no real consciousness or mental awareness of who they are. Ganondorf became violent and destructive with no real goal other than wanting to destroy Link without even knowing WHY he wants to destroy link. All Zelda knows is that she is against Ganondorf and wants to help link, but doesn’t really know who Link or Ganondorf are. She probably even felt that she needs to keep the master sword but doesn’t understand why she had it in the first place.

That last cutscene almost made me cry.
This game made me realize just how much I cared about Zelda, and seeing her become a dragon broke me in a way I did not expect. I was always suspicious of the fourth dragon in the game, but I never connected its appearance with Zelda... until I talked to the Deku Tree and he said that the Master Sword was moving. Landing on Zelda was heartbreaking, and seeing the cutscene showing us her transformation was even worse.
I can't express enough my gratitude for the happy ending we got. I truly thought the game was called "Tears of the Kingdom" because of the sacrifice of Princess Zelda, who abandoned everything for the sake of Peace in Hyrule, but I'm happy Zelda got turned back!

      Meh..
I feel like her being returned to human form was a cheap copout.
Because we are told that "there is no going back from this"
      "You cannot undo it"
      "It's the Ultima sacrifice"
      And so on.
And that her draconification had a lasting impact on the characters,
Like impa being in denial and seeking to undo it,
Or purah accepting her sacrifice and last will and passing it onto link.
So yeah, i wished she had remained a dragon, and served as a reminder of the cost of that peace.
Break the mold and get us a bittersweet ending.
      This tho is just cheap.
Through the power of plot convenience and anime bullshit, zelda is back, her sacrifice undone and the stakes that it had cheapened and cheated out of.
      It's a bad thing.

@@raylenn4444 although you have a point (i felt the same, and it made sense. The games are called The Legend Of Zelda as they describe the tale of a princess who sacrificed herself and threw away her humanity to ensure peace in her kingdom), i feel like that would've closed the game franchise for good. That kind of ending would've been narratively fitting (since we're told it's irreversible or whatever) but it also would've meant Zelda would've probably never appeared again 🤔
Regardless of what would've been better narratively or not, I'm personally happy she got transformed back because there's also value in a happy, hopeful ending :) for example, who would've ruled the kingdom in Zelda's absence? Link? Some random other Hylian person? As far as I know, Zelda is the last living person from the Hyrule Royal Family, and I think her absence would've caused many troubles that only another Zelda game could properly explore and resolve. No matter what Zelda is back and that's fine by me :D

      @raylenn4444 11 місяців тому +2

I love how often this game reinforces the idea of sacrifice in its many forms, which can be done to achieve both altruistic and selfish aims. I guess that’s what tears symbolize throughout the series. Somewhat unrelated, but it puts into perspective the Sheikah symbol (an eye with tear). And that’s just one of the many subtleties in the Legend of Zelda series and especially this game. This game is a masterpiece and truly reflects the richness of LoZ universe and story; though at times it’s plot and timeline can seem disconnected and meandering, when you take the totality of it and perceive its components through any individual perspective, they are still each consistent with each other and the whole.

I love and hate (as in feel sad about) the idea that the dragons are so meandering and soulless. Someone else mentioned you can see it in their eyes how aimless and such they are, and that's my first thought about them too. For having such incredible eyes, there's almost nothing behind them as far as direct thought. It's all seemingly inate compulsions and objectives. Wandering the same circles in space for all time.
That's also what makes Zelda such a special case. You do lose yourself becoming a dragon, but she gathered her already strong will at that last moment, and I think that's what gave her more purpose than most other dragons. Same with Ganondorf. You see he has the same strong will, but for different ends, and he gathers it right before transforming, effectively cementing it for eternity. It's very interesting. They stray from their "set" paths in the sky and land. Even the other dragons only strayed from their same cycles once geological crisis forced them too. Those two did it of their own will and power.
It makes me wonder if someone of incredible will could effectively become a dragon and keep themselves intact in this universe. It would've been interesting to explore this idea with Link, honestly, in some way.

  • @lunathemoon

The scene of Rauru sacrificing himself to bind Ganondorf might just be my favourite in the entire game. Ganondorf's smugness, Rauru's determination, him telling Ganondorf to remember Link's name, who seems actually curious and hopes for a worthy foe to fight, while the both of them seem to slow down and both their eyes turn empty, all accompanied by beautiful music, especially the part of the Legend of Zelda theme at Link's name drop. This whole scene is beautiful
What I also like is that, once Ganondorf awakens again, he's already confronted by Link and the sword that seals the darkness, hoping for a great battle, only to be disappointed once the Master Sword shatters against his power. He really did remember Link from what Rauru told him

Actually, I think he’s right and you just are misunderstanding the situation.
The situation Zelda experienced is an immutable timeline, where what she experienced was always going to happen.
To give an example, let’s say a kid sees a time traveler from the future with a sword in his chest die in front of him. Years later, that same kid grows up to become that future time-traveler, gets stabbed, sees his younger self, and realizes in his final moments that he saw his own death as a kid, and there’s nothing he can do to change things.
Zelda ALREADY went back in time and helped seal Ganondorf before the events of even Breath of the Wild came out.

The real question is why did nobody kill Ganondorf while he was sealed? One chop to the neck with a sword or axe while he was sealed probably would have been enough, some tnt would worked as well.
Zelda could have gone back with the broken master sword and just sliced his neck with the undamaged part of the blade or stabbed him with the decayed end, which probably would have done even more damage. If it follows the same logic as twisting the blade, the roughness and jaggedness would rip and tear Ganondorf's internal organs, causing irreparable damage.

Zelda swallowing the secret stone was probably the craziest plot twist in any zelda game.

2:06 I cannot figure out if Ganondorf amplified its size so it would amplify his power further, or if it just did that on its own. It's an impartial object, neither good nor evil, so I can't see it doing that on its own. He is just making that stone gourmet before swallowing it later, perhaps? Lol

I'm not surprised about Zelda scince I went for the Eldin region tear just after the first one in east central Hyrule and saving the Rito, Goron and Zora regions... I got spoiled by the game itself...
