I love how Ganondorf first meeting Link is basically "Really? You're Rauru's last hope? Seriously?" It's cool seeing him go from annoyed and dismissive to pleasantly surprised when Link does prove to give him a decent fight to complete breakdown when Link starts beating him.
Exactly my feelings. Seeing him use conventional combat in an almost cocky way to nearly cheating by using almost all magical attacks is super satisfying for character building. I almost wish we could’ve done that phase one battle with Ganondorf around a midpoint in the game just to give that fear and respect he has for Link more time to develop. Like he gets pissed that we’re making progress and shows up after we beat two temples, expecting to wipe the floor but getting beaten back.
@@cato3277 Fr fr. Like everytime you leave the temple the corruption on Link's arm would overwhelm his mind and he gets taken to an astral or mental arena where he fights hydrated Ganon from corrupting his body and taunts him for his failures. Each temple he gets a different Ganondorf Beating the: Fire Temple: Gloom Clubs with projectiles. Lighting Temple: Gloom Sword with phantom Ganons. Water Temple: Gloom Spear with multiple dashes. Wind Temple: Frequent use of the Demon King bow, and circling projectiles. Spirit Temple: Rehydrated Ganondorf with a gloom sword and 4 other phantom Ganons with different weapons. Basically blight Ganons on steroids.
@@VergilGaming19 absolutely baller idea dude, I love that. Reminds me a lot of Bionicle Heroes, surprisingly. At the end of each Act you'd run into the big bad for a shorter but tough boss sequence. Your idea sounds even better though
@Crichjo32 Personally I feel like he was missing that edge of introspection and sympathy he had in Wind Waker, showing that he wasn't 100% evil. But all things considered he still came out as the best incarnation of Ganondorf
@@shinobirecords2018 Fun Fact: Toru Osawa wanted Ganon to have redeemable elements similar to Raoh from Fist of the North Star. Sadly Nintendo did let him write another Zelda Game after Ocarina Of Time. Toru Osawa is known to be the creator of Kid Icarus.
10:59 You must slow this moment down to 0.25 to fully grasp every frame of JOY and ECSTACY this man is experiencing knowing he is about to achieve 110% pure hydration status.
something that cracks me up is the fact that Ganondorf had been anticipating Link for over 10,000 years and when he wakes up he's just a 4'9 blonde twink
He probably expected someone with a similar build to him. When he looks at Link for the first time he's just like "ok, not nearly as impressive as I expected but let's see what you've got".
The choice to make The Demon King's health bar continue to grow past the normal length was brilliant. Not only did it fill me with a sense of dread, knowing this was going to be a seriously difficult boss, but it was a great way to exemplify his power. It's like he's so powerful that even the game can't properly handle it, and his health bar continuing to grow to 2x its normal length was such a great way to get that point across.
I finally beat the story and man did it took a lot of tries to beat him, He has an awesome design and his voice is badass, If they make a amiibo of this Ganondorf I would definitely try to get it
Yeah that was the biggest problem with this game that they made no reference or connections to breath of the wild. Like how the npcs act like they don't know who Link is
I love how they actually just made him straight up evil. You can hear the crunch of Sonia’s spine when he hits her, and he just laughs dementedly knowing that he’s going to be unstoppable. He’s not getting revenge or using some sobstory to justify himself, he’s just a horrid force of hate and evil that wants ALL the power.
"Um, ackshually, he WAS getting revenge on Rauru and Sonia for oppressing him, because they actually wanted to conquer and subjugate the Gerudo, and he was just fighting back against that 🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓" I wish I was making that up, but I seriously once saw someone say this bizarre narrative.
Considering he's the reincarnation of Demise's hatred, it would feel cheap for his motivation to be anything beyond just wanting to rule everything. I can understand wishing that hatred presented itself in a more understandable way like in Wind Waker, but if you ask me, the presentation, threat level and manipulative nature are what they really needed to get right with Ganondorf, and that they did.
@@mr.barcode3186 If anything he just saw his people as a means to an end. He didn't give a s**t about them as soon as he became the Demon King, at least.
It's weird how the last time we actually saw Ganondorf in a mainline game was in Twilight Princess in 2006, not counting the spin-offs and Smash, and even there he only appeared near the end. He's Nintendo's most iconic bad guy behind Bowser so they knew people wanted him back. And man they really delivered, he steals the scene in each scene he's in, they really didn't shy away from how evil and powerful he is supposed to be.
He was unwelcome in Twilight Princess. They had a fine villain with Zant, but then when Ganondorf came into the picture they had to change Zant's personality into a comedic doofus to make Ganondorf intimidating in comparison. If you have to change around your other villain to be lamer for ganondorf to seem like a threat at all, maybe don't bother having ganondorf. A villain you've faced over and over again only gets less threatening with each defeat, doesn't matter if they get some new power, it's just sad sore loser syndrome. He was never a very interesting bad guy anyway, no depth, then again this is nintendo we're talking about here, asking them for depth is like suggesting to a snowman to have a trip to the sahara desert.
@@Vaquix000 Agree on Twilight Princess, but the last thing i look forward when facing the literal Satan of that universe is his "depth". Bad guys like him don't need a sad backstory, they need presence and charisma first, and Ganondorf has plenty to spare. I want him to feel like a real threat for Hyrule and Link, i don't want him to go "muh childhood, muh people, i'm actually just a misunderstood boy angry at the world". Not that it can't be done like Windwaker, but it should not be the focus of a character that is literally described as the incarnation of evil
Zelda's sheer look of terror at 12:43. Damn. She already experienced the great calamity. I'd like to think that at this point she understood where it stemmed from.
It seems she started connecting the dots in the cutscene where Ganondorf swears fealty to Rauru, but this is where the truth was all but confirmed. History stated that Calamity Ganon was born from the Demon King's transformation into Malice, so imagine the absolute fear Zelda must've felt seeing the familiar Blood Moon and realizing this is the Demon King himself, source of the monster that caused her and the rest of Hyrule so much suffering.
Imagine if she'd been able to get close enough to him to say, "You idiot! I am from the future, and don't you know what happens to you after you become Mummydorf?"
The thumbnail represents more than just a face, it expresses all emotions such as fear, glory, happiness, joy, depression, excitement etc. And this day, i feel so inspired by Ganondorfs face
no, it's the face of someone that had spent time and time again trying brute force, and the second he tries subterfuge it worked immediately. "AM I FUCKING STUPID THAT WAS TOO EASY LMAO"
So, the people representing wisdom and power turned into dragons and started attacking each other. Meanwhile the guy who represents courage meanders on their backs, poking them. Sounds about right.
@@derrickdaniels3955 I do actually think that a guy poking at dragons is more fitting than a dragon who wouldn't have anything to be afraid of anyway. Courage is about standing against your fears, if there is nothing to fear than you are not courageous for it.
I really wish we got even more cutscenes with Ganondorf ngl, he’s easily the best part of the games story imo. I wanted to see more back and forth’s between him and Rauru, dialogue between him and Twinrova and especially something with Zelda herself. It’s a missed opportunity to be sure…
I wish we got to see more of him from before he got the stone. His Demon King transformation is really cool if you're familiar with Zelda lore and you know what he really is, but it's not explained very well in the game itself. The game makes it seem like he was just a regular guy until he got the stone and became the Demon King, when in reality he's always had these Demon powers and the stone just made them far stronger.
Yeah, there needed to be more backstory before he grabbed the stone from Sonia. That memory jump felt too quick ESPECIALLY since the next memory just CONTINUES straight away from the first. Just have to two tied together and put another cutscene in the first part of that memory
What I personally love about this version of Ganondorf is that the guy shows respect; when told of Link and how he will have the sword that seals the darkness, and is told to remember this name, he actually is interested. He desires worthy foes to fight, which is a nice little addition; gives him more personality than simply just wanting to destroy the world.
Only when his ass is getting beat. Throughout the game, Ganondorf constantly distrspects Link, attributing all his success to Rauru's arm and magic, and even after defeating his army, he still deems Link "not worthy" enough to be a fitting opponent. When he transitions to phase 2, he actually seems to respect Link a little more, if only to unleash his full power. But at the end, hes a sore loser because he couldnt bear to be defeated by anyone, let alone someone who carries a "fragile sword" so he becomes the Demon Dragon in desperation, and by that point his opinions on Link are basically null.
The funny part is that's his motivation. To make the world stronger through combat or something. Dude just wants to be powerful and fight strong opponents. And he's confidently evil about it too
What blows me away about this version of Ganondorf (apart from Matt Mercer absolutely killing the performance) was the sheer attention to detail that went into his various designs for this game. He really felt like a combination of so many previous incarnations, all rolled into one. His design is classic Ganondorf, but when he gets the Secret Stone, he's the spitting image of Demise, his original predecessor, which really accentuates his rise to ultimate power, and apotheosis right before his "ascension". Right down to the black scales hiding in his clothes, and glowing pulsing hair. But not only then, but after he absorbs the stone and becomes a dragon, his eyes IMMEDIATELY reminded me of Malladus, the "Demon King" from Spirit Tracks, which felt like an incredible tie-in, and further implies that he really is a king of demons. At every moment in this game, he exudes power over everything around him, and it's honestly incredible. They absolutely nailed him this time.
Not to mention that during his draconification, he also looked like the serpent form of Calamity Ganon, which is also a pretty good nod to the fact that Ganondorf and Ganon are essentially the same thing. And then there’s the whole obsession with power, his Triforce piece.
And not to mention that his second phase theme is basically all Ganondorf themes over the years (with it mainly being OoT Ganondorf), also including Calamity Ganon's theme at one point.
Incredible? He's just a generic reoccuring villain, nintendo loves to do that because they hate making new characters. Anyone called a "Demon King" is painfully generic and ganondorf has never been a exception to this. Never has there been any depth to him, he's just a cartoony villain for the sake of it, it's fiction for kids. As for anything that could be described as "Incredible" about this character... Incredibly generic? Hmm... ncredible is a word that means more than people seem to think, I don't use it lightly. Just like people like to toss out the word masterpiece. But let's see. Overused typical black and red color scheme? Check. Bland cartoony villain dialogue? Check. No depth? Check. Called "The Demon King?" Check. Been beaten multiple times already? Check. Turns into a dragon? Check. Ooh boy.... yep, that's incredible generic alright.
@@Vaquix000 I think you forget that that’s part of the reason people love him. He’s pure evil, and is done extremely well. He’s always been this “generic” evil villain, and that’s all he’s ever needed to be. He’s meant to be powerful and threatening, he’s not meant to have a lot of depth. And when we live in a world with so many different villains with many of them having tragic backstories and complex character, it’s nice to have one solid pure evil classic villain that’s been with us since 1986, and that’s what ganon is
This game totally understands Ganondorf. There's no sad backstory, no sympathetic goal, just a mean motherfucker who's evil because he's evil, and smiles like a fucking maniac after killing a woman with his bare hands.
I had a hard time liking Sonia and Rauru, still don't particularly care for them, so for me, Ganondorf steals the whole show. I wouldn't have it any other way. Plus that final battle, WHEW I was fighting for my life ingame and irl.
Agreed man. Some people seem to think that Ganondorf is not actually that bad he's just a victim of Demise's curse, so I'm glad they didn't go that route. He's just pure evil, and that's what Ganondorf has always been. They 100% nailed him in this.
for some reason i dont like zeldaa voice i expected to be a bit softer like how she grunts in twilight princess but i do understand its different since here she’s voicing literal lines
From the very first line she uttered in that very first Blood Moon cutscene, I was like "why does she sound like an evil witch". I was much more right than I could've known at the time.
@@tayloradams372Weirdly I actually think this voice would be perfect for TP Zelda, it sounds elegent, experienced, queenly. I love the voice I just think it doesn't fit this Zelda's art design if that makes sense
At 19:53, this has got to be one of the most cinematic and amazing scenes in history with how it plays the main theme of The Legend of Zelda. Gives me the chills
Yeah whats the deal with everyone in zelda trying to make link go blind like first sheik is throwing explosives in his eyes then zelda(technically the same person but-) turns the brightness up to max when you take the master sword and when she becomes a dragon then gannon just becomes a nuclear weapon
I think they did a really good job with ganondorf this game. He felt truly terrifying and intimidating to me. Which made beating him all the more satisfying
I guess you never beat him in another Zelda game before. If you beat a villlain over and over again they're not intimidating, they're embarrassing sad sore losers.
@@Vaquix000 I've played Ocarina of Time, Wind Waker, and Twilight Princess before Tears of the Kingdom. TOTK Ganondorf was a way better fight than any other Ganondorf fight, Wind Waker is a close second though.
Matt Mercer, as well as the other language voice actors, did such a great job voicing Ganondorf. This is the voice I'll hear moving forward when replaying the other games where the character only had subtitles. He nailed the charisma and authority of Ganon's human form and the anger and intense pure evil of his demon form. Might be my favorite iteration of the villain, on par with Ocarina and Wind Waker.
Matt absolutely NAILED this role, and his enthusiasm shows for it especially if you consider his "There Will Be Brawl" performance of the character. He absolutely captures the intelligence, menace and power of Ganondorf very well in this performance, and he absolutely nailed that ominious laughter. I would argue he has earned the right to portray Ganondorf going forward.
Dude had his life ripped apart from him by his calling as the chosen hero, had to sleep for years and wake up with nothing, only with the mission that he had to beat Calamity Ganon; then after beating that Ganon, get it all taken away again when Ganondorf himself comes in, and then had to go on another quest, arm taken away and replaced with another's, his sword gone once again, and the princess he was devoted to completely missing. Not even counting what happens to Zelda during the game. If that isn't the most heroic story of Link I don't know what to tell you.
No villain who keeps coming back is cool. The more a villain gets defeated, the more pathetic each return is, they're just sad sore losers. A villain is only any sort of threat before you've ever beaten him. So honestly, in a way someone like bowser is less threatening than a goomba at this point. Imagine if in Star Wars luke beat Darth Vader in the first movie. Darth Vader wouldn't be a badass threat anymore, who would give a damn about seeing luke kick Darth Vader's ass twice more? Repeating villains are pathetic jokes.
@@Vaquix000 Jesus Christ how many replies are you going to make? How much COPE do you need to perform to admit that ganondorf is an objectively great villain? You're not different and you're not special.
@@cantinadudes No it looks goofy in context too. It took me by surprise when I watched it. Didn't expect him to do the dorky villain smile you see in anime so suddenly.
Ganondorf was done justice in this game. He felt like a legitimate threat on a Thanos scale of raw power and manipulation. His boss fight was a good challenge too.
@@Hylian_Glitchmobber I'm in the same boat as well. He's an awesome dude, but for this role I felt a bit disappointed that was the official voice of Gannon for the game. I thought it was going to be deeper or have more oomph to it but that was it. Maybe my expectations were too high 🤷♀️
Let's not forget that Zelda's father (King Rhoam) and plenty of others gave us hints of foreshadowing, like when King Rhoam said "Ganon appeared from deep below Hyrule Castle, seizing control of the guardians and the divine beasts." and that Calamity "Ganon" was also another hint.
ooh nice observation!! i feel like people should have had mega red flags when the gloom appeared since it looks exactly like malice, but somehow nobody compares the two and draws the conclusion that ganon is back.
@@spoon7053 I came to the conclusion that everyone was in denial. The last thing anyone would have wanted to believe was that the Calamity was still alive. Good news, it wasn't. Bad News: Ol' BigNose was.
Also if you talk to zelda in the beginning while exploring the castle, she mentions that her father said no one was ever allowed to go beneath the castle, but she never understood why.
Matthew Mercer did an phenomenal job portraying as Ganondorf. His new form is much like Demise with some Oshikuru(Demon Samurai) features. This is the best version of one the most iconic villains in gaming history!
I really like how Ganondorf is designed after Japanese demons and ogres in this game. He really feels like the ultimate force of evil, and god damn is he scary in the original reveal trailers and the actual game.
So what we can guess is that Calamity Ganon was a little taste of Ganondorf's true power that somehow could escape of Rauru's sealing. 10,000 years after the original Calamity, Rauru's sealing power was weakening so Ganon was way more powerful and could take over the Guardians and the Divine Beasts very easily (he could've done it the first time if he so desired, but he wasn't powerful enough). Cause think about it, when Ganondorf gets sealed, Rauru and him freeze but when we visit the foundations of Hyrule castle at the very beginning of the game, the only thing that remains of Rauru is his arm while Ganondorf is still there (as a mummy, but still)
And even when he was jerky form he was still so powerful, all Rauru did was basically put Ganondorf on pause but it barely worked, he was truly terrifying
@@thealchemist1789 Ganondorf's leaking Malice/Gloom probably ate away at his body over the millennia until his sacred magic infused arm was all that was left.
For future dlc, we need a “second quest” story since Skyward Sword hasn’t been given us. I want to see Zelda’s own adventures in the distant past since we only get a glimpses of it through those Dragon Tear memories, and have Ancient Sages as her companions fighting alongside her. In addition, exploring the backstory of Ganondorf to see what drove him in conquering Hyrule.
@@BlueBerry20071 The idea of controlling the world really. If he controls everything in the kingdom he'll be the strongest, which is likely his goal. Become more powerful and spread that throughout the entirety of Hyrule, conquering not only the Hylians but also the Rito, Zora, and Goron.
I found it intriguing that when Ganon wielded his secret stone, he somehow gained full mastery of it. Even Zelda had to train to use her time powers effectively. The moment Ganondorf donned it, he transformed into his demon king form, spawned bloodmoons and spawned hoards of monsters. In addition, Ganon has the strangely specific title "Master of the Secret Stone." There are other people who wield Secret Stones but only Ganon has been called a master of one. As a side note, since Mineru's dead Link should get her stone. He is the perfect candidate, he is a hero who saved the world and him having the "Spirit" of the Hero.
Considering Ganondorf could summon swarms of Molduga and create gloom puppets even before he gained the secret stone, it's safe to assume he had long since mastered his powers (especially when you consider that other incarnations of Ganondorf have lived for centuries and only grew stronger with age). Like Mineru says in one of the cutscenes, secret stones only amplify people's existing abilities. They don't suddenly grant proficiency in them, hence why Zelda had to train to control her time power.
I think the single biggest thing distinguishing Ganondorf's Demon King body from his Gerudo body is that he can summon the Blood Moon at will. We already know he draws power from it and uses it to summon monsters to replace the ones Link killed, and we see a summoning ability of a similar magnitude in the cutscenes. Hyrule was basically fighting against an infinite Blood Moon during the Imprisoning War. Link with a secret stone would literally look like Jin from Xenoblade Chronicles 2.
Not only was Ganondorf amazing as always, Matt Mercer did his voice perfect! His design was amazing as well, and it was so cool to see Ganondorf's return since Twilight Princess all those years ago. The greatest video game villain of all time!!!
How is he the greatest video game villain of all time? He's just some guy with hair hair and a big nose. No depth. Been beaten multiple times, not to the laughable extent of nintendo's other favorite villain bowser but enough to the point they're a non-threat. Ganondorf was already boring in Twilight Princess. They had to suddenly change Zant into a comedy villain and change his personality to make ganondorf seem threatening in comparison. If you have to make your other villains less scary to make your main villain more scary, your main villain is a failure. Actually I was even bored to see him in Wind Waker, I had already beaten ganondorf in ocarina of time, and if a villain is beaten they never get that sense of threat ever again... well, except to those who have the memory of a goldfish.
@@Vaquix000 I have to completely disagree with you. Ganondorf has had many different iterations, as you said, and has had many reasons to hailed as an amazing villain. First off, his first appearance in his Ganondorf form in Ocarina of Time was completely new, and made his presence so threatening throughout the game. With Wind Waker, they gave him reasons behind his motives, and it was also confirmation that Ganondorf still remembers events from hundreds of years ago(because he speaks of the hero of time). He speaks about the harsh conditions of living in the Gerudo desert and not being accepted by Hyrule royalty. It’s a very interesting take on the character. What made Twilight Princess Ganondorf so menacing wasn’t because they made Zant a comical villain. Zant was the same, just hidden behind a mask and pretending to be something he wasn’t, and he finally showed his true self in his final scenes. I thought he was fantastic. What made Ganondorf threatening was the fact that the six sages failed to execute him after Ocarina of Time, and resorted to putting him in another world to stay out of Hyrule, which leads him to use that to his advantage with the twilight realm. It’s been 17 years since Twilighg Princess, and this is the first full Ganondorf incarnation we have had since. They kept him just as menacing, with his mummy form to his normal form, and I was ecstatic to see him again after such a long time. His design and voice are fantastic as well. His characters ambiguity and constant mysterious returns(but not with every game of course) are some of the things that make him my favorite video game villain of all time.
@Vaquix000 It's not wrong to let people enjoy and talk positively about things you don't personally like, y'know. You're wasting everyone's time by posting your pretentious, half-coherent rant on every comment expressing praise for Ganondorf as a villain. State your opinion once and move on. You're not that important.
Tears of the Kingdom Ganondorf beats all the others yes including Calamity Cannon they really went all out on his evil this and how he gained his power is super cold
Nah, all he really has is the long flowing hair which only reinforces the idea that it was Ganondorf who is standing against calamity Ganon in the tapestry from the first game. This outing of Ganondorf honestly seems really lackluster apart from the final boss fight. I'm not going to spend a hundred plus hours to watch less than 10 minutes of cutscenes 😑 I wanted to see some motivation but it looks like all he really did was just send a bunch of molduga completely randomly. That's really the extent of him attacking them. Also sucker-punching the queen. Thanks, I hate it 😂
@@zacziggarot What do you mean? It's incredible. Well, some have said it was, same kind of person that likes to throw the word "masterpiece" around all the time. I found the malice ganon pretty pink boar much more original than this ganon dragon, which just looks like if you asked a normal person without much creativity to draw a demonic dragon.
the cutscenes with Dragondorf are absolutely breathtaking. and the final scene is so gratifying after beating him, especially because the PLAYER feels like the hero - it took us two games, six years, and a whole lot of deaths to get to beat ganondorf
The cutscene intro before the phantom Ganon fight in the throne room is my favorite in the game. The camera work is so cool with Zelda teleporting every time she’s out of view. Most players could tell something was up before hand and that Ganon was likely using her as a puppet during the game but the scene really intensifies the creepiness. So well done
Honestly you can understand mummified ganon's reaction to meeting Link, he got hyped up for some incredible warrior and that was the first impression he got given.
I really really loved the way the final quest was introduced and completed. When you first get the final quest causally you've already been playing the game for at least a solid 20 hours, and pretty much that whole time the game teaches you that Ganondorf is EXTREMELY powerful, and that any attempt to stop him has failed. Then finally after finding the 5 sages, restoring the 4 regions of Hyrule, learning about what happened during the Imprisoning War, and reuniting with the Master Sword, the game gives you one last directive: *Destroy Ganondorf.* It gave me chills when I saw that, but it made me really excited to finally face off against the evil bastard. The fight itself was great, and I loved all 3 phases, but the ending was absolutely captivating. I loved seeing this dragon version of Ganondorf exploding in a gigantic pillar of red light just to be followed by "Destroy Ganondorf: Completed" popping up on my screen over the cloud of smoke. This game has been an amazing experience so far, but it's little stuff like those amazing quest transitions that help to set the game apart from the rest, and somehow makes me love this game even more.
If this version of Ganondorf got so amped up by the Secret Zonai Stone, how powerful would he be if he had both the Secret Stone and the complete Triforce?
I believe the main reason why it wasn't added is simply because nothing would have stop him. If you analyze the story, all the power from Raurus, his sister, Zelda, & the ancient Champions barely did anything to him. If you look closely to Ganondorf during their fight, he looks like he didn't even broke a sweat. This Ganondorf could be the most powerful version up to date.
34:16 This shot right here gave me chills as far as the spectacle of the “Final Ganon Fight”. Going back through the history of them all being so grounded to this. QUITE literally fighting IN THE HEAVENS for a final boss in this series. It looks like they’re in the damn atmosphere here and I love the scale it presents.
When I first saw his insane health bar I, like many others, believed my game was bugged that was such a strange but fun moment for basically everyone who played the game
I think it's a little funny/eerie how we all thought he was probably just gonna eat the stone like a pill but then he immediately JUST SHOVES IT DOWN HIS THROAT
Matthew Mercer Absolutely Nailed It as Ganondorf right here in *Tears of the Kingdom!* This is why I ALWAYS Support, Respect and Appreciate Ganondorf as one of THE Best of the Best Nintendo Villains of All Time, from the Zelda franchises!
Honestly, with how much they've left unexplained, they could make an entire third game that fills in the blanks. I don't think a DLC could cover it all.
2 things I wish we knew about this version of Ganondorf. 1 - What was Ganon’s motivation? He wanted to conquer Hyrule but why. Were the Gerudo suffering, were they just being thieves or was Ganon just a greedy asshole? 2 - Connection between Ganondorf & Calamity Ganon. While Ganon was trapped below Hyrule Castle, did he manage to leak his powers of Malice out of his body due to the weakening seal? With his Malice now having a Conscious, did he purposely intent to use his alter ego form to hopefully transfer & revive his full soul in a new body? (Like his human shaped form in age of Calamity)
@Leron Watkins yes but only people who played skywards sword would know that. People are making theories but not doing their research. You are right about demise
The last time Ganon was an active and actualized threat in a Zelda game was Twilight Princess or Windwaker. TP is weird though cause he was puppeteering Zant nearly the whole time, so IMO Wind Waker was the last game to really do him justice as a game spanning threat. The fact that this iteration got so much love in both design and character expression speaks wonders to the love that went into TOTK. After nearly 17 years of no legitimate Ganons, we get this absolute beast of a character. The design is cool, he looks threatening, big, and he wears his Gerudo roots on his sleeve. The character is THE Ganon, pure evil packaged into an arrogant attitude that wants nothing more than to plunge the world into darkness. This isn't some goopy force of evil, or some underling trying to RP as the demon king, this IS THE DEMON KING pure and simple. I'm so happy to see Ganon given the character his design and concept deserves, no more wasted potential like in BOTW, this is the Demon King baby
A villain who wants to "plunge the world into darkness" is a laughable cartoonish villain for children. In fact any character with the title "demon king" is going to be laughably bland. Then again, nintendo makes games that are 100% for children, adults or even Teenagers are not in their mind in the least so that's no surprise. This one is even more boring than the last one, now you actually have to look at his goofy human face and hear is generic cartoony villain lines, at least the other one had a pretty pink boar. A glowing pretty pink boar is SOME originality at least, now what do we get... His transformation is if you asked a random person on the street to draw a demonic dragon, that's how bland it is.
Breath of the wild was my first zelda game. But as a kid, I grew up with smash brawl and the subspace emissary. Even though ganondorf helps fight tabuu in the end, the laugh he gave at killing all the r.o.b gave me chills. This smile is the same
10:59 havent played the game and when I saw the video thumbnail I tought this was modded as a form of meme, but *DAMN* They really animated this scene like that. freaking EPIC villain moment.
If you're used to ironic detachment, Ganondorf may seem cartoonishly evil. But it's not cartoonish, that's just the strength of his conviction to be the evilest bastard that ever lived.
Sidon: Just what is this thing?! Ganondorf: …I-…you KNOW ME! Tulin: Not really Ganondorf: Th-this isn’t funny! Yunobo: Wait! I get it! You’re that skeleton… Ganondorf: Yes! Yes I am! Yunobo: With the blue eye! Ganondorf: …I’m out
This will hands down go as the best interpretation of The Demon King Ganondorf he’s perfect! Edit also it’s super refreshing to have a villian be the evil bad guy once again

Everyone knows that Matt Mercer did the iconic voice of Jotaro, and you can hear it in Ganondorf, but did you know that Chris Hackney, who voices Rauru, also voiced Ghiacchio in part 5 of Jojo's? It's funny because they switched roles from hero to villain.
If there one thing I learned about Ganondorf is not how powerful the Gerudo King/King of Evil/Demon King is. But rather how cunning he is since he deceived Queen Sonai and King Kauru by granting an audience. Using whatever means to retrieve his grand prize: Sonai’s tear stone.
but neither of them were ever deceived. nothing in the meeting played any part in his plans, they saw through his puppet. He just...has the ability to teleport behind people???

12:53 This is no longer Ganondorf, King of the Garudo. Through the power of the Secret Stone, the ancient curse born of malice was finally brought to fruition. Demise lives.
Honestly, this is how Ganondorf felt to me when I first played Ocarina of Time. He wanted power, he wanted death, and he wanted to see the world in ruin. He abandoned his people, they were instruments for his climb to power. He destroyed the joyful towns. And he promoted resentful people like Ingo to places of power. And as if that wasn't enough, he covered his own castle and castle town with a permanent cloud. He just hated the light, because it was light. "How disappointing. The world should be shrouded in darkness, not bathed in insufferable light." I like Ganon from Wind Waker, and I like the idea that Ganon is a pawn of Demise. But Ganon from Ocarina of Time has always been the most frightening, until now. Defeating him was incredibly satisfying.
I always though Ganondorf would sound like Christopher Lee but deeper and with a little more gravel. But I've always based his voice around Ganondorf's laugh from Ocarina of Time.
Ganandorf feels like a character that should be a tragic story (and it some cases it is), especially this version. I was expecting it, but I also love finding out that no, he's just that asshole. And I love him for it.

Useless crap like that.” “But with this-“ [Murders Queen Sonia] “I’ll finally have the one thing that’ll make me happy: All the Hyrule in the world! For me!”
Not really. Canonically he’s cursed to endlessly reincarnate as the vessel for demise and the holder of the triforce of power. Arguably this is why he acts as he does. If he’s wasn’t cursed he may be entirely different. Link and Zelda are in the same boat

What I love about this depiction of Ganon is how unrepentantly evil he is. He warlock punches an innocent woman’s spine out of her body and his reaction isn’t grim resolve or stoic determination. He cackles like he’s watching funny videos of a cat with a balloon tied to its tail. He uses his phantoms, direct extensions of his will, to cosplay as Zelda and run around Hyrule doing insane Saturday morning cartoon villain shit, spooking horses and convincing soldiers to go into battle naked and generally being a destructive pest. He gets the Gorons addicted to meth, dumps toxic waste all over Lanayru, and causes a zombie apocalypse in his home town. Being an asshole is his passion. If you told him he was a slave to destiny caused by Demise’s curse, he’d look you in the eye and say “really? That shit rules.” Put all notions of Ganondorf being a sympathetic character to the sword, he is an absolute shitbag.
I’d just played OoT for the first time (yes, yes, i’m late, but I had the mild obstacle of my existence being that of exactly two cells in two separate people at the time the game was released) before playing this game, so when Ganondorf said “Rauru placed his faith in you… And that was all you could do?” I thought he was talking about owl-man from OoT.

I still consider Demise a more-or-less version of Ganondorf.
Technically windwaker tbh
Bad guys like him don't need a sad backstory, they need presence and charisma first, and Ganondorf has plenty to spare. he's the reason why I fill my weapon pouch with Gerudo weaponry, this Ganondorf is beast 🙌🏼
Heck, I wish we got some kind of dlc that let us play as him. Letting us see from his perspective.
And he catfishes Link by disguising Zelda
The funny part is that's his motivation. To make the world stronger through combat or something. Dude just wants to be powerful and fight strong opponents. And he's confidently evil about it too
Making the villain more imposing makes the fight more satisfying.

Check.

Now the question is. Why didn't both of them turn into a mummy, and Rauru only had is arm remain?

For future dlc, we need a “second quest” story since Skyward Sword hasn’t been given us. I want to see Zelda’s own adventures in the distant past since we only get a glimpses of it through those Dragon Tear memories, and have Ancient Sages as her companions fighting alongside her. In addition, exploring the backstory of Ganondorf to see what drove him in conquering Hyrule.
They'll plan it as a DLC but end up adding so much into it that it'll end up as another sequel.
Yeah, actually. There was no triforce to drive him this time around, so what could he possibly have wanted other than the stone that he got?
@@BlueBerry20071 to control hyrule.
@@TheSuperDuperLS which would be kinda pointless, because who tf actually WANTS all of that work?

Thanks, I hate it 😂
ToTK Ganondorf is definitely the most powerful of the Dorfs, but I still think Wind Waker Ganondorf is the best best written one out of them.

the cutscenes with Dragondorf are absolutely breathtaking. and the final scene is so gratifying after beating him, especially because the PLAYER feels like the hero - it took us two games, six years, and a whole lot of deaths to get to beat ganondorf
The cutscene intro before the phantom Ganon fight in the throne room is my favorite in the game. The camera work is so cool with Zelda teleporting every time she’s out of view.

@@Dado_nastro I think composite link could win but barely
I believe the main reason why it wasn't added is simply because nothing would have stop him. If you look closely to Ganondorf during their fight, he looks like he didn't even broke a sweat. This Ganondorf could be the most powerful version up to date.
Nothing would be able to stop him but a fishing rod.
