I love this car. I never thought maxima were worth the price over the altima, they were rather bland for 32k+. but this redesign has me blown away, I love the dramatic lines and swoops, the grill. the boomerang light and the "floating roof". even nicer is the interior which is honestly that of a more expensive premium car. Nissan knoelckrd it out of the park. I will be saving up a 10k down payment over the next year or so and head to the dealer down the street and purchase this. hopefully next summer, I will be driving this, I can't wait!
Definitely a big upgrade over the Altima, the Maxima is Nissan's flagship sedan and you will definitely be able to notice it from the second you get in the car

The Nissan Maxima does not compete with the accord. The Maxima lives more in a class of it's own. The new accord competes against the upcoming refresh of the Nissan Altima which will incorporate a lot of styling cues from the 2016 Nissan Maxima

Just because it has 6 cylinders are 4 doors doesn't mean it competes with the Maxima. Also you're incorrect there Honda is moving towards CVT technology as well. I didn't say the accord was in a class of it's own, the Nissan Maxima is the vehicle that doesn't really have a competitor, not by choice but because there's no other car maker that has a vehicle in it's class. We're not speaking price wise but where it positions itself in a brand. Also the CVTs in Nissan are have been tested for maby many years now, they are not new to this field, however Honda and Toyota are barely starting to adopt such technology, Toyota even licensing some from Nissan. Maybe you've had bad experiences with Honda's CVT transmissions, you should try test driving a Nissan rather than going off of perception and it will change your mind. However in this situation, most of the design elements( especially the interior) come from an already established Infiniti line up, only expanding on it. Also most of the body lines and front and read of the car come from a design language Nissan has been doing for a number of years, for example the boomerang headlights and tail lights. The corporate v motion grill has made it to the Maxima. And the style of aerodynamic forms in the body through lines has been done on the Altima before adjustment on the Maxima. Although it resembles a kia on the sense that it has 4 doors and 4 wheels, it is actually something designed with internal influence from Nissan

Exterior look is great. Interior however is cluttered, too many click on the steering wheel. Also the features like the touch screen and main console gauges and indicators are too Japanese and geeky.
wow i was a fan of the maxima until i watched this...the platinum is nothing but overpriced garbage...wood trim looks so tacky and old...a rearview camera is an unecessary item...cloth fabric wouldve been better for the seats...i just saw a lot of unnecessary features

What was the battery issue? I have a 2012 SV and have not encountered any battery issues but would be curious to know what issues the battery had.
