President Lincoln 2 plus

- Finally broke down and got a president Lincoln 2 plus rig. Now I can work 10-11-12 meters from my truck. The Lincoln 2 plus puts out around 40-45 watts on ssb and close to 50 watts on am & fm
Only downside is the internal speaker other than that it’s a great rig!
So far, I'm doing pretty well with my Lincoln II+. I've worked ZL1WN in New Zealand from my car in SE Pennsylvania, on 10 meter SSB about 4 months ago with a Wilson 1000 magnet mount on the roof of my Honda Accord (5x7 reports both ways). I've also worked plenty of Europe, some Africa, Caribbean Pacific and South America.
When I had it connected to my 135 ft OCF dipole at home, I worked a station in the UK with just 5 watts on SSB (10 meters). I've also had many great contacts on 12 meters. Next, I want to try it out on CW and, use it on the upper portion of 10 meters on FM to access the repeaters up there.
On CB (LSB) I've worked ground wave up to about 90-100 miles and plenty of stateside stations. My best CB AM contact with the Lincoln was Alabama. All from SE PA.
One thing however, I did notice that this radio sometimes jumps down a channel when transmitting. While this doesn't happen consistently, it is something to look out for and it can be annoying. Not sure if President knows about this issue and I'm not the only one that's experienced this issue.
That's a really nice radio man, the sound quality is real good👍😊
👍👍👍👍
So will be enough to stick a 1 kohm resistor to enable the function and activate all the bands on keyboard and it will run from 26 to 29 mhz. Good job. I belive im going to buy one and do the same thing, so i can keep in the camper. And live the kenwood ts 140 at home. 👍👍👍👍👍👍
73 from KF0BBU here in McPherson County. Hope to meet you around sometime. I worked an Italian POTA station the other day with 70 watts and a wire. I thought about picking up one of these just for mobile.
I tell ya man for the money it’s a great little radio. Audio is very clean with the stock mic. I’ve use it on 10 some never tried 12 meters on it. The fm works good also. Yeah maybe we will run into to each other one day. Thanks for watching!
At the moment I'm just on CB , with a President McKinley, all mode AM / FM / SSB, works great so far. If I get my HAM license I will check out the Lincoln II, but we have some great options, like the Team1011, CRT SS 9900, Anytone 555 or Albrecht. Can't decide at the moment
The McKinley is a great radio. I’m sure what ever radio you get will be just fine. Good luck on getting your hame license and once you do you’ll love it! 73
If you have a Xiego G90 you can do the same and have all HF bands and CB but is only 20 watts. But that’s not terrible and if you already have that radio, it saves you a few hundred bucks. Then you can spend the money on a mobile antenna that covers CB and a HF band or two.
I wanted to buy one of these a few years back but passed. I still have the HR2510 for 10 11 meters. Top of the afternoon from N6PUD
I keep thinking we’ll do I or not on this radio. Glad I did it’s been a good one so far. But the 300 bucks for it was hard to justify. Lol. Good afternoon from Kansas.

Thanks for watching
Im split between this Lincoln and the Alinco DX-10 .. 73s from Ireland
So far I like the Lincoln really well. Only downside to me is the speaker. 73 from Kansas
@@cbhamradio1507 I am more interested in the CB side - and as I dont have a HAM licence - its a head scratcher IMO
@@ramblinginmeath4950 the Lincoln is very very easy to convert.
Just picked up a CRE 8900 10 & 11 meter radio after many years of being off air on the CB here in England )Sorry i ever parted with my Lincoln Mk1 to be honest). Bought the programming cable and software and opened my radio up to "Export Mode" and programmed all UK 40 muppet channels and UK mid band and the sideband frequencies. It took a little getting use to working out the radio properly but a found some really good videos here to help me along. The CRE 8900 is exactly the same radio as the Alinco DX-10 and the Alinco DX-135UK, as all the 3 radios have the exact same board and layout as each other. Go for any 3 of these radio's and you'll be happy you did. 73's from England/UK.
So how do you get it to display Band Cb rather than Band A after doing the mod???
Brother use a sirio 5000 mobile antenna and you will be very pleased with the contacts you can make on this radio barefoot oh man I was impressed talking into England Germany Alaska and many more from Indiana . The only thing I don’t like is the size of the knobs a little small other than that the speaker sucks . But the rest is awesome 73s KC9LRA operator Bob.
I agree with you about the knobs. Lol they are a little small and the speaker sucks big time but otherwise it’s a great radio. Thanks for watching the video!

@@cbhamradio1507 Thankyou David yes it reminds me of a radio that’s made for a woman .Don’t get me wrong it is a very good radio I love mine and I have made far more DX hookups than on my old Kenwood or Cobra. I love it but it does have its flaws. Just like anything you start looking hard enough you will find something. So Thank you for the input best of luck and hope you have lots of good DX come your way. Thanks
Curious about you use the antenna auto tuner, any special cabling or is it plug and play. Do you just press the button on the tuner when you want to tune up?
It’s a MFJ 200 watt auto tuner. Way I do it is just use the AM or FM mode and key the mic. It has a carrier and tunes fast. I’ve used it over two years now and works great
@@cbhamradio1507 Thanks! I'll see if my LDG Z100 Plus will work.
@@mikewilder7231 it should work. Let me know if it does!! Thanks for watching!!👍
Doe’s it also have upper and lower ssb on the cb channels?
Yes sir.
Just bought one
A MFJ- 915 Ferrite balun reduces whitenoise and stray RF. A DSP speaker does even better.
I just bought with the one of these with the 11m mod to put into an off-road rig that I'm putting together. I'll be using it as a cb to just play around as well as getting a ham license ... mostly for safety purposes when way off the beaten path. A couple of questions:
- Any idea what the pep is for 1-40 when used as a cb?
- Recommendation on an antenna that would work on all 3 bands? For the time being I'd probably go with a magnetic mount.
- Will I need to grab anything else to tune it at first? or for that matter do I need to tune it when switching bands?
Any help would be appreciated!
Two ways to tune an antenna for 12-10 meters would be to get an automatic antenna tuner and run a 102” whip or could do like I do. I use a k40 4ft whip for 11meters “cb” and a MFJ 10 meter hamstick tuned for 28.400. It’s easy to swap out. I don’t mess with 12. Not a lot of people on 12. Anyway there’s two ways of using a mag mount. Just make sure you’re using a strong enough magnet to hold it in place. As for wattage on ssb 1-40
I get around 35-40ish with mine. Stock mic and radio is stock. Am I can’t help ya as I don’t use it on am side.
Thank you. Good advice. I played around with CB 40+ years ago & I'm looking forward to getting back into it with the what looks like the best all around radio for someone like me ... We'll see! :) @@cbhamradio1507
Is that smaller than a stryker 447 hpc? I just bought a Lincoln for a mobile hope she fits
I never had a Stryker so I couldn’t tell ya. Hopefully it will fit!
Wow that's a really nice setup
Thank you
Where do you acquire the Numerical call sign
The 892 I made up myself about 30 years ago. I was in the Romeo Golf group which will give you a number. So if you don’t want to join a group just make one up.
With the 2310T, you are able to use if for 10-12 meters? What model MFJ tuner are you using?
I use the MFJ 939
Thanks for the reply.@@cbhamradio1507
What's your call sign? I'm KD5SMF out of Tulsa OK, and my wife is from Hutchinson KS.
Kf4zqw. I’m originally from Georgia but we been in Kansas for 2 years now
No SSB ?
Yes it has ssb. I was using ssb in the video
What's the range on that radio?
Range as in? Frequency coverage? 12-11-10 meters. Distance that depends on antenna and conditions of the atmosphere. I’ve worked into Europe with stock radio 45 watts from Kansas in my truck. Lot of factors in talking distance
I've contacted New Zealand from my car (in Pennsylvania) with a Wilson 1000 (magnet mount) on the roof, barefoot with SSB on 10 meters.
With this radio on the CB band (11 meters) - The typical range locally (via ground wave), would be about 5-20+ miles on AM (dependent on antenna/terrain and conditions). On SSB, you should easily be able to cover 10-25+ miles. IF you're running a really good base station antenna that is above most major obstacles than you should be able to talk even farther... especially base station to base station.
IF the CB band (11 meters) is "OPEN" (skip condx - usually during daytime hrs)... Then, working CBers in other states (I'm assuming that you live in the US, lower 48') is not too difficult.. Especially if you have a good base station antenna or a really good mobile antenna on your car and use SSB on the upper channels (channel 36-40 LSB). No license is required if operating on the CB Band (11 meters, 26.965-27.405 mHz).
BTW - If you don't have a Ham license... GET ONE before you jump on 10 meters. A Technician Class license is pretty easy to study for & pass. It will allow you access from 28.000-28.500 MHz (the SSB sweet spot is 28.3-28.5 - below is for digital modes). BTW - this sunspot cycle is getting better each day... DON'T WAIT. If you want to utilize the rest of 10 meters (28.5-29.7 mHz) AND the 12 meter band (24.890-24.990 mHz) then you must upgrade from Technician to General class (test #2).
There's no need to learn Morse Code since the FCC did away with that requirement over 15 years ago. Many folks study for just a day or 2 and usually pass the Technician Class test on their first try. See www.ARRL.org for a study guide and, there are some online websites where you can study for the test. Exams are given by local Ham Radio Clubs that have VE's (Volunteer Examiners) and you can find a club near you in the ARRL website and find out where/when they provide the testing.
How many amps does that Lincoln drae
Around 10ish. If you leave it stock as for power settings.
@@cbhamradio1507 what about tuned and aligned? Question is I have a 30 amp power supply wondering if it will power my Lincoln and my rm italy kl203p
@@KE8ODY-WV-Ares-Ham-Dad-3O4 I run my Lincoln and kl203p on a 28 amp power supply easy. I drive the 203 on ssb no more than 15-20 watts pep. I never had anything done to the Lincoln except the mod for 11 meters. I did that myself. The audio on that radio is clean. I don’t see the need to peak it. I also work into England mobile with just the radio.
@@cbhamradio1507 so a 30 amp peak 25 amp continuous power supply should power them both just fine
@@KE8ODY-WV-Ares-Ham-Dad-3O4 I would think so. Just don’t over drive the 203. 150-175 that amp will be happy. There’s no big difference in signal running a 150 to 200 watts.
