      @@jacobspeeds That's what I'm looking for but a Shelby GT500. I love the looks and performance of that car and you still have many mods to make to make it a serious beast
      And I have a '15 Challenger SRT (with all Hellcat visual/performance parts FROM THE FACTORY) but have never been truly happy with her - never even named her and only put 5500 on her so far. So the plan is to try and find a dealer with a fairly low mileage model with whom I can trade, but hard to get a righteous trade if there's no really money in it and because of what my car is, NADA has trade in value of my car at a median of $34k. Whatsthevin.com slapped me in the face with a cash offer of $29k proving that my best option(s) are either a private sale (which I honestly don't feel like dealing with, even more insulting process) or dealer trade. Yeah, there are a ton of SRT's out there, but not many like this one in the 2015 model year - the total premium package is pretty much a 2018 T/A offering.
      So, if any of y'all know of a dealer with a nice '14 Shelby GT500 in their inventory (which hopefully didn't have the SNOT beat out of it and is still stock - like mine is - I don't think I ever even hit 100 because I live in NYC (but moving to PA by the Spring, where I can actually enjoy driving again), please hit me up!
      I love this guy's honest content and he's not some kid who's looking to wrap himself around a tree. HOWEVER, I knew there was no way in hell he was going to hit close to 700 wheel in a naturally aspirated 3V 4.6. It's just not enough displacement without boost to get there. Love what he did with his GT though. Looks sweet. There IS something about this gen 3V that I love but I agree, the 13 - 14 is just a different animal, especially the Shelby!

      You really can't beat the design of the 05-09 S197. The "facelift" smoothed all the hard lines out of the car. The worst offender is around the wheels. 05-09 had very nice looking flares. The tail end is much nicer too. The facelifted car's rear is far too smooth and fat, and the tail lights on the 2010-2012 (I believe...) were just awful. Like a child's toy. The later models did have very nice tail lights though.
      IMO the 05-09 S197 is the closest we've come to the 1965 Fastback design that is every guy's wet dream.
      I bought one brand new in 2007 and still have it! Great cars.

      @@AKcelsior I feel the same about the rear tail lights, it looks like they tried to improve the looks with a cheap after market add on imo (not knocking any ones ride just not liking the looks) the front is ok I guess.... the S197 feel is old school imo and I should know I have had in the past two 70 mustangs a second generation Capri and my 89 mustang lx 5.0 conv.. when I found my 08 V6 auto a few years ago it was a fun old school feel 100% and now my new to me 09 GT conv 4.6 5spd is what I have been looking for in a modern car, i'm on top of the world and love this 45th so much.

And a great resource for guys looking at 2009, 2010 or whatever mustangs and wondering what the cost savings is worth. 6:47 you're describing runner length based on air velocity. It's more about rpm. When the intake valve closes incoming air is suddenly forced to stop and compresses against it. This creates a pressure wave that is reflected back up the runner. When the signal reaches the end of the runner it is reflected back toward the intake valve again (see diffuser). This precharges the incoming air. To optimize air flow you want the intake valve to be opened as the reflected pressure wave is incoming.
    Higher RPM means that a shorter distance is needed for the pressure wave (signal) to travel. That's why short runners work at higher rpm. Longer runners are found on vehicles requiring more low end torque. Torque is a function of cylinder fill. Forced induction torque curves are so different because cylinder fill is less dependent on rpm. Then, horsepower is torque x rpm.
    I have a sheet metal intake on my LS1. PCV system on these allows a lot of oil into the intake. I was missing a manifold bolt, and this resulted in an oil leak. It didn't occur that an intake gasket leak would cause a mystery oil spray mess. When I put a new bolt in the problem went away. I've known for a while about the whole runner length thing I described, but I didn't think it made that much pressure. Trust me it's substantial.
    Excellent work on your 3V btw.

    • @SiriusC1024
      @SiriusC1024 5 років тому +4

      @@Four_Eyes That is interesting. I wouldn't have expected dips in torque curves. If I had to guess an intake runner has to chosen based on wave number of the compression. 1st order would be a little over 14 ft for 4800rpm. Obviously runners are much shorter. The question is how to calculate the runner harmonics and apply it in the real world. I'm beginning to wonder if it so complex that the work is done empirically, as in your link. The problem is difficult enough simply assuming the speed of sound at STP conditions. Further calculations have to be done to find the pulse width. Then apply that over an rpm range. MAP sensors don't account for acoustics...

    That look at 1:12 is awesome. It looks better than any Mustang since. Ford had it right with this style and they should have done what Dodge did with the Challenger, make subtle changes to it. In my opinion the changes they made in 2010 were awful. I hate that squish rear end look of the 2010 with all the cheap plastic on the bumper cover. This car had a cool retro look and feel, and a distinct street presence that was lost when they changed it.

      Four Eyes I think one of the best parts of the 05-09 is the rear stance especially with wide tires on the car. For 2010 they would have been better off not changing the rear and just updating the front. I have mixed feelings about the 15+. Some look good like the Shelby GT350 but others don’t look so good. I think the squat down back end looks kinda odd.

    • @jeremiahpike6372
      @jeremiahpike6372 5 років тому

      @@TheDude2111 depends on what you want from the ending result. Yeah you could swap in a 5.4 but the 4.6 & 5.4 both have powder forged piston rods in their reciprocating assembly that blow into dust if you push them past 10 lbs of boost from a blower or turbo. A good stroker kit would come with a forged crank high strength piston rods and depending on which route you go boosted or naturally aspirated a piston that can handle the increased stress from boost or a longer crank throw. Most engines being boosted get a low compression piston design to prevent predetonation and most naturally aspirated engines get a piston designed to increase compression. Your truck engine would have powder forged rods if you get an engine out of a factory boosted car then you would have a "little" stronger rod design.

    • @TheDude2111
      @TheDude2111 5 років тому +1

      @@jeremiahpike6372 maybe yes maybe no Hyundai factory rods suck but 10 psi on a 5.4 is like 12 on a 5.0 plus faster spool time. Also it's all in the tune, the 302 blocks were thought to only hold 500 ish hp but now there are guys making 800 whp and multiple passes

    • @jeremiahpike6372
      @jeremiahpike6372 5 років тому

      @@TheDude2111 Displacement has no bearing on the amount of stress an assembly can handle the quality of the parts with which the engine is assembled is what changes the point at which the stress of operation is to great for it. Also there is no correlation between displacement and boost pressures. A diesel engine can be pushed to 100psi of boost with modifications. A great example of this is the exact engine in which you just referred. The pushrod 5.0 has better rods than the 4.6/5.4 as in they aren't powder forged units. The 5.0 pushrod engine if in good condition can handle around 18lbs of boost with no issue other than the structural limits of the block. The crank and pistons in the pushrod 5.0 are both forged. Forged steel crankshaft and forged aluminum pistons. The rods connecting the two are also not heated and pressed together steel dust into the shape of a rod. The pushrod 5.0 had rods cast from molten steel. This is why the pushrod 5.0 can actually make more power than the structural integrity of the block. Ford overbuilt the pushrod 5.0 and the underbuilt the 4.6 as far as the internal parts anyway. Now yes you are right it's possible to get over 1000hp from a Windsor block providing that you actually add structural rigidity to the block. Lower main cap girdles and a lifter valley girdle and studding the cylinder heads can get you more than 800hp worth of block. To make that kind of power with the Windsor design boost of some kind or nitrous would be required. The new coyote is the next generation of the 4.6 design fixing all the problems the 4.6/5.4 had and also using separate camshafts for intake and exhaust valves on the coyote. The coyote is a modern version of the 4.6. breaking the camshaft up into two separate units for intake and exhaust allows for complete timing adjustment on both the intake and exhaust which adds lots of drivability to an engine capable of doing much more power wise.

      @john jones that's the crazy thing about it they're using 88 to 93 blocks with the factory trw pistons every thing I've read states leave fuel fat around 10.5 to one and rpms under 6k and it'll hold (I think most of these guys are gapping rings to .030 ). I can understand a person spending money on a car if they are going to race it to make money hopefully on a racetrack but what is the point of pouring a lot of money into a car if its just going to be driven on the street? I guess some people get off on theirs being bigger than someone else's but no matter how fast you are there's always someone who's going to be faster. The technology is constantly changing.
