Why I bought the FIRST new Suzuki Jimny as a family car // Jonny Smith

- This video compiles my footage and feelings from the first 18 months of living with a new 2019 Suzuki Jimny SZ5. Not only that, but the Jimny was ordered 12 months in advance as a secret surprise Christmas present for my wife. Within hours of the Jimny getting delivered I rust protected the chassis (thanks to Tim at Roadhouse Motor Co roadhousemotor... ), and within days modified it with an expedition roof rack (details of which are below). We use the Jimny as our CarPervert family car, meaning it has to carry a family of four and their luggage - no easy feat!
I specced what is the UK's very first privately owned Jimny with several options that would best protect it and offer a level of practicality to what is an obviously compromised car! But sometimes you are happy to suffer compromise if it has character - and the Jimny has exactly that. In fact it is tipped to be an instant classic since there is still a year long waiting list, and UK sales will cease in 2021 due to emissions regulations.

Before the release of the Jimny my wife owned a Nissan Figaro (we still have that JDM rascal), a Japanese import Nissan Cube Cubic, a Chrsyler 300C V6 diesel turbo estate and a Mercedes C350e estate PHEV. We did look at imported a factory RHD Toyota FJ Cruiser from South Africa for a daily family wagon, but with a 4.0-litre V6 it was out of the question. Do you own a new Jimny, or have you tried to order one and struggled? Tell me in the comments below.

I wish reviews in general were more like this, by an owner(s), light hearted, slow paced, detailed open conversation about a vehicle.
Yes, it would be great
Yes it's very un top gear, He didn't even make the tyres bald. Hopefully the end of the Clarkson era and copycats
very fireside-chat-like, wouldn't you say?
i agree
Agreed
"Defender drivers look at it jealously". I hang around LR forums and honestly this is what a lot of us wanted from the new Defender. A utility vehicle that could be fixed like an original 90/110 and at a reasonable price. Instead we got another luxury vehicle with 40+ mini-computers running the BCU and another addition to "the brand". A brand that was built on farm vehicles and military use.
The new Defender is more like a Discovery 🤦♂️. I really wished that LR would have kept things simple 😩
You can only imagine how expensive a new Defender will be once it’s out of warranty
LR cars are shockingly over complicated and unreliable in my opinion for the price they charge. As you say, filled with computers, too much to go wrong. How do they get away with it ? Why are people in awe of the badge ? Dreadful bling cars. I like SUVs to be simple utility cars that do the job without fuss. The Jimny, Subaru Forester (2013-2019 model), Shogun sport, Land Cruiser.
I was about to type the same, I find it unreasonably annoying how they've basically built something which will pinch a few sales from the Range Rover and Discovery but not a simple product which follows in the Defender mould. They had time to see how successful this was.
@the mountain man Real sh*tboxes...
I feel happy when I see this car, I've sat in one, I don't want one, but I just like how it looks. There's a certain charm that's missing from most cars on sale today.
Sunny Lam this car is more rugged than most “rugged” cars today
I see what you mean - most of today's cars - and other vehicles, vans, even those renault juggernauts too - have this typically hideous angry look about them.
@@hathaway.1166 the grab handle in the interior feels like it'll stay on even if you've fallen off a cliff, I guess it's handy when you're in a Jimny huh
@@Dudleymiddleton Absolutely, cars with happy faces sell well, typically, Honda E, mk2 Golf and then this, very differently cars, but same charm that you won't find elsewhere!
I often think modern cars try to look way to agressive. Thats why I love this thing and especially the new Honda-E
I am in South Africa and I took delivery of my new Jimny in 2019. I am completely happy and over the moon with it. It has surpassed my expectations.
Thank you for this review, because it has given me great guidance on the additional bits you can put on the car, which I will be considering.
This is the last car I needed to buy. As time goes on, I see no other car on the market that impresses me as much as this little adventurer. It gets a lot of attention and so many people would love to get one, but cannot due to the waiting time and the fact that secondhand ones are more pricy. All-in-all, this is the best car I have owned and I just love it.
I really agree with James may aswell when he says Suzuki is one of the most underrated car brands
Only Suzuki I ever owned was a motorcycle but it looks like the cars are as good as the bikes when it comes to giving you a lot for your money.
Have had numerous suzukis over the years, mainly Vitaras. Those things go places a Defender could only wish to go.
@@misterthegeoff9767 I feel like they are often forgotten about in places like Europe as they have no halo car, their bikes certainly encompass prestige but their cars are all fairly attainable which is why they stay forgotten
My Sierra (Jimny) is coming up for its 30th birthday. It's never stopped unexpectedly except for when I had a battery replaced and they didn't put the leads back on properly and one fell off. It's been my daily driver for 20 of those 30 years. It's never been garaged and it's lived within 2 km of the sea the whole time.
I'd never gamble on anything else.
I had a Samurai (USA spec Jimney) and then a 16V Swift GTI, which was the most fun car I have every owned, absolute pocket rocket that out handled the 320i of the period. Ah, to be young and have enough spare cash to attend driving school to work off the points for speeding tickets.
As an American, I can only look on in wonder at this forbidden fruit
We never get the cool shit here
You got Suzuki's coolest car, the X90 (Sidekick with a sports car body)
@@IOUaUsername True, but Cash for Clunkers ate most of them. They're so rare now they may as well be forbidden
man i wish suzuki brought their cars back to the US or were allowed to...i dont know the story as to why they cant/wont. but i would really like to look into the jimnys haha! old samurais are just old and rotting away...wont find very nice ones around here in the midwest
It's only their 4x4s and the Cappuccino that are good. My brother had a 2013 Alto and that thing was dreary.
This has been an expensive 27 minutes. Now got a roof rack in the basket for my Jimny. Great video
Suzuki: "Jonny, please don't make this video, we don't want to have to turn away more sales. "
Suzuki: " Damn it Jonny. "
LOLLS
I want one so baaaaaaad 😭😭😭😭😭
Suzuki, why won't you shut up and take my money??
Suzuki has much more stuff, they would really love to kill the jimny but fans just love it so much, they are just fed up making this car.
I’ll be honest I wasn’t a huge fan of 5th Gear but Jonny was always my favourite presenter because he had an interesting personality which he (imo) has been able to fully unleash on his UA-cam channel....never been a fan of fairly basic vehicles. However Jonny has made what is globally renowned for being a great budget 4x4 really cool, well for me anyway 👍🏻😊. Loving the freedom UA-cam has given a really interesting and funny presenter keep up the great content 👍🏻😊😊.
This comment means a lot to me, so many thanks. The YT channel is still very young, but thanks to people like you I will keep trying to deliver open, honest car content of the eclectic variety. Cheers.
Absolutely spot on comment, I agree 100%.
Yeah, Johnny and Tom Ford were my favorites, and if they did a segment together you KNEW it was going to be good.
I actually really like 5th Gear, a much more informative program than top gear, which turned into a parady of itself and just entertainment based around cars if that makes sense. Plus 5th Gear presenters actually live and breathe motoring, unlike the most recent TG muppets!
Jonny bought a 300c!! Why ohh why?? Must've been cheap as chips!!!
I liked the mix of characters on 5th Gear. You had your genuine racers but you also had your more down to earth presenters who were more like the car nut you might know from the pub. the knowledgeable types that would come around to your house on a Sunday to show you which pipe was likely causing your issue and then refuse a tenner for his help. I put Jonny in that category.
Just bought one myself , can't wait to get it delivered! Really enjoy watching your videos Jonny!
Good lord that was a fantastic game of rock paper scissors, I was on the edge of my seat.
wmp The competition was fierce. Usually ends in tears.
youtube world needs to know what was at stake
888johnmac Winner stays in the family. Loser has to ‘do one’.
Love the Suzuki, this is what the new defender should have been, simple, practical and affordable, instead it’s another luxury product from JLR!

@@michellelaidler-smith3855 Legend status: confirmed.
I have a 2006 Jimny and I love it to bits! Used to be my dad's car, was passed on to me in 2011, I've driven about 200,000km in from city driving to long motorway trips through heavy off-road, and I couldn't be any happier about it!
I love the small size, driving in Rome it really helps with parking and moving around traffic, and the visibility is better than anything else I've ever been in, let alone driven: you can see every corner of the car from the driver's seat, and it turns in no space at all. When bumpy roads are concerned, my I live in the countryside, with a full mile of unpaved, bumpy, often completely broken road to get home, but in that I can still do 20km/h no matter the conditions, while most road cars have to carefully go around every bump at less than half the speed.
And actually, I find it very fun to drive as well, the fact it's so wobbly makes you feel quite unsafe, but the wheels have a ton of grip so you can run around corners if you dare.
The only, obvious downside of it is motorway driving. I've done two or three 1000+ km trips on it, and sitting in the back gets quite annoying with time, the extra shoulder room over the wheels means you can't really find a comfortable sleeping/lying position, and going over 110km/h with A/C on is next to impossible.
All in all, though, I'm really sad this is going out of production, my Jimny has been a lovely companion and now that it's throwing in the towel I kind of looked forward to get a new one. Who knows, though, maybe we'll soon see an EV version of it. Personally I would love it!
Two small notes:
1) I also got the roof rack, but I find it almost impossible to mount my ebike there, it's too heavy and the rack is way too high - higher up than on most SUVs actually. So I also bought a bike rack that van be attached to the wheel on the back, really useful and comfortable to use, and also quite easy to remove
2) the reason Defender owners eye it with such jealousy is because they know you can go anywhere they can, but you payed half the price for it!
this is EXACTLY what a family car review should be. I've wanted one of these since I saw your first review, so off to suzuki I go!
Had no idea you had a UA-cam channel and simply stumbled upon this.
You're a fantastic down to earth presenter that gives me what I'm looking for in a car video in a calm engaging and witty way!
Honestly a bit sad that I can't justify (even attempting) getting a Jimny. Its existence makes me happy and I wish I needed one.
You can buy a Samurai. Looks very similar for a fraction of the price.
Bit still basically the same car.
I miss my samurai it looked so cool. And was so fun off road. I'm in America and they don't sell Suzuki cars and trucks here anymore. I love what the new Jimmy looks like. I just wished we could buy them here.
@@paulmarcoux207 Buy a mark 3 (this is a mark 4) from Japan - in a year or 2 they turn 25 years old, so you are allowed! Oh you want the Sierra variant, so you get 1.3l engine not the 660cc version
I think Suzuki got this spot on, no fuss no fanfare, just a cracking little Jeep, solid and reliable, great video

I pick up my Jungle Green Jimny tomorrow morning. Pumped
I know it's cliche but that design is an instant classic!!! So beautiful 😍
I own a 1984 Long Wheel Base SJ410 and it puts a smile on my face every time I drive it, the new Jimny just updates everything mine has but keeps the looks, love it, cheers
This would be my euromillions car for nipping into the local village from my country estate/castle, no point in putting extra miles on the Phantom :) Kind of like a modern 2cv agricultural simple but very effective car.
I was thinking similarly. I'd have 3 or 4 of these in the underground garage of my Alpine Chalet. Before this came out it was 3 or 4 Dacia Dusters...
It would be my Euromillions car too.. as I'd put it in the Action Mobil Camper Van Garage ua-cam.com/video/75782uJmxxw/v-deo.html
@@davesimpson2805 yes I have notice a few energy companies/agricultural services in the uk using dacia dusters, I'm guessing to replace land rover defenders.
Yes it would be my lottery win car too. I wouldn't suddenly spend a fortune on a car but this is well priced even if it's not too practical or necessary much of the time.
Jimny with a crunchy clutch was one of the most favorite moments of a trip to Cuba. I suspect it had a really hard life from tourists who knew little about stick shift, but I persevered. My buddies on the trip and I agreed that on the next visit, we'd rent one for the whole vacation. Charming is an understatement.
For years I thought that this car was a Suzuki Jimmy and was disappointed when I looked more closely at the name
Me too
Same
Just watched the video and still didn't realize it was called that until I read your comment. Still gonna call it Jimmy.
I think that GMC has registered the trade mark “Jimmy” for a compact SUV, and Suzuki could not have used it.
Mrs Car Perverts face at 25:30 when you thanked her for doing such along interview (love in her eyes) but then told her to go put the kettle on (her eyes roll). You went from hero to the naughty step. Lol.
Great owners review. Thumbs up.
As always shot perfectly, with content that keeps you wanting to watch every minute, and listen to every word right to the very end. Really love the car!
Jonny, with the book, more like CarPreacher rather than CarPervert. I hardly leave comments, but fantastic stuff because of the simplicity and sincerity. Lovely family. Much Success Mate.
i live in Japan and the waiting list is 18 months!
apparantly suzuki is sending more to european market, i thought why? but now understand.
brilliant little car that jimny.
Do you have a Jimny now ?
Will there ever be any 4 door Jimny? :(
We have owned our Black SZ5 Jimny for nearly 3 months now. Bought for its cool boxy looks and fun character. It's used as our second car and dog transport. The rear seats have been folded flat since day 2 of ownership! Have done a few mods such as changing to the 'Jimny Style' rear LED lights and changing the front indicators to smoked LEDs which look so much smarter than the orange/amber standard ones. Also fitted smoked side repeaters. One thing you mentioned in the video is wanting some rear door storage? We have fitted 2 elasticated storage pockets which are ideal for the dogs lead, poo bags etc. I would look out for is not to make the rear door storage to big as this would encroach on the storage space in the boot. By the way great video, we love our Jimny too!!!
Waited 6 months and got lucky getting my Silver SZ5. It's not a race car but really fun at everything.
This really takes me back to our Suzuki Maruti Gypsy, which at first I hated, but came to love after my wife showed me how amazing it was. We drove it a couple years in Southeast Asia, then a couple more years in southern Africa. Our (young) family of five was very comfy for our road trip adventures.
Despite it's foibles, people just love the Jimny, and Jonny does a good job here in showing it as it is most likely going to be used by owners.
It's one of those cars that can easily just get under your skin.
I bought a Suzuki SX4 three yrs ago (14 plate with 20k on the clock) for my wife to drive - she loves it and it 's now on 60k - it's been absolutely faultless and returns 48 mpg - not bad for a 1.6. Ergonomics are not it's strong point and it's not exciting to drive, but it just does what it says on the tin.
What a lovely video. Had everything, detail, humour and the most pleasant delivery. Top job Johnny.
Jonny: "I didn't really want it in black"
Jonny: "Any regrets on black?"
Wife: "No"
Jonny: "😐"
Looks more stately and impressive in black.
She's damn right! Black is lit 🔥and all the other colours make it gimmicky
Johnny is probably the most honest car reviewer, he has no badge snobbery, and he knows most people drive normal family cars, and not fancy sports cars, he is brilliant on Smith &Sniff both really funny guys, like the the little Jimny, cute
I absolutely loved the Jimny when I test drove it. Really liked the quirky driving feel. It's quicker than you think, but definitely not fast.
This channel is amazing. For a change, so nice to see someone giving genuine feedback. Love it.
Great review. Great reviewer. One of the most personable & believable people in car media today. Has always come across as a decent and nice fella.
You are the most well spoken and informative and relatable car review person I've ever watched. Thoroughly enjoying your videos!
I'm a serial Defender owner and absolutely fell in love with the new Jimny when I test drove one. Unfortunately when I decided to commit to buying one last Summer I was turned away by the dealer.
Grew up with a suzuki SJ 410 soft top as a family car. We used to drive to our nans on the weekends which was a 100 miles or so.. 2 kids, weekend luggage and 2 rottweilers in the back.. Of course this was only achieved with the rear seats removed. This brings back so many memories. Love these cars.
Superb vid. Loved it. One of the best ‘real’ reviews I’ve seen. I had a 2007 jimny and loved it. Upgraded to a Vw t5 4 motion now but would always have a jimny again. Worst problem ...they used to rot in the boot recess above the exhaust and behind the light units. Thanks again
Just ordered one in Australia, ETA is 4 month here. If more customers express interest more of these simple utilitarian vehicles will be produced, So, if you're semi interested , stop thinking about it and buy one! The 5 door will be even more desirable for families that want one but are hesitant. Great review. You both sound smitten by its unique charm!
I got one as a second car, it's a lovely big toy. I'm proud of it.
I got a 2014 jimny jeep with low mileage on it so I had a good deal there at 12,600 and only 300 miles on the clock were the person before me was very ill and did no miles at all. It was only a year old when I picked it up from suzuki. What a jeep it is. I love it so much and everytime I go out in it I can't stop smiling. I love the fact you can drive off road and tow stuff too. Road cars are not so good as when it snows in Dorset everyone in my family says can you take me to work in 4 wheel drive as there cars are what you call normal lol. I had a 4 track for 2 years and the jimny knocks spots off of it in every way. Love your video about how and what you think of the jeep. I will never sale mine even if you offered me twice as much. I just love ZIPPY the jeep. Cheers brother.
Your Smith and sniff review of the Jimny, is one of my all time favourite UA-cam videos :) loving the output, brill vids.
Thank you Tango!
I really wanted one and put my name down on a waiting list, never heard anything even to this day!
Eventually bought a new Subaru Outback, with discount came in at £5k more than Jimny auto but absolutely no regrets, I love it, brilliant, much underrated car. So comfy, so roomy and unstoppable off road providing the ruts aren’t too deep. Added bonus is that it never gets slagged off as a 4x4.
Local garage always cussed Suzuki & Mazda because once he sold then, apart from servicing he never made a penny they were so reliable!
I hadn't passed my driving test more than six weeks in 1980 and went to Gran Canaria on holiday. We hired a Suzuki Samurai convertible. What great fun for two weeks. It was the version with two bench seats in the rear and sat six of us. I came back home thinking about getting one, but didn't have the cash. They had two engine sizes then 1.0 & 1.3. Ripspeed in Edmonton, North London did an exhaust conversion that gave a bit more power. 40 years later, I still look fondly back at that car. I'd still like one!
Here in France, they are very popular with the hunting fraternity and they do/did a 1.9 diesel.
You are thinking about getting some steel wheels> According to Suzuki's website, the steel wheel is only 10 euros cheaper than the alloy! You can't even configure the Jimny on their website.
I can't believe the mark up on the new ones at the UK dealers!
The accessory grille is SO much cooler than the original. Timeless and classic. Great vid as always Jonny.
Yes, it's great. Looks like the old Samurai grille.
I got my wife a late 2017 model with next to no miles on it. She always wanted one. She loves it. I love it. It's a great little thing to scoot about in. I find 55 to 60 mph a nice cruising speed, it can go faster but it doesn't enjoy it and why rush? I did just the same and waxoiled it underneath as soon as I got it home. Just had it's first MOT and the garage said it was a minter and probably worth more than we paid!! Massive fun to have, own and drive.
I've had two Jimny's in the past, a 2000 and a 2009, love them, planning on getting one of these soon-ish. Here in Australia they're selling for more than list price to avoid the wait. Thanks for the review, it's only made me want one more. Love the retro grille too, reminds me of the Toyota FJ.
Amazing simple, rugged, city friendly, offroad, manual, classic, compact, affordable, capable, low maintenance car with a tone of caracter! What more can I say. I Love It! Hope to own one in the future.
They absolutely cant stop production before I own one
I’m getting my black Jimny in a few days. Ordered it in early March and now it’s June. So locking forward getting it.
Will use it as my daily driver, as well as a light overland vehicle exploring Central America creating good memories for life for my 10y/o son.
A roof rack, a ladder, and later an ARB rear locker is on the wish list.
Had two Gen3 in Sweden ~15 years ago. It’s truly a remarkable little vehicle, and I’m so looking forward to the Gen 4.
Thanks for sharing your experience.
I remember those days, where Fifth Gear was my must watch TV program for the day.
Happy to know that, I am gonna learn a lot more. Beautiful family.

Greetings from the Philippines!
Loved this, Carguy's other halves are brilliant... my missus used to just smile and nod, now she won't drive anything with less than about 400NM of torque and won't fit anything but Michelin Pilot Sports to her car... trouble is, she knows more than me now, can't get away with anything... 😂
Keep up the good work Johnny!
Thanks to you and a few others, I bought one too. Took delivery of a black one today, June 12, 2021. After a few kilometers around town it has fulfilled my expectations. Will take it to an off road track pretty soon to update my 4x4 driving skills.
Thanks for all you’ve said about it this far, it is appreciated.
Cheers Boris. Hope you love living with it.
For some reason the intro music made me think of "Go Jonny Go". Weird how the brain works sometimes. Cheers from OZ mate. You're one of THE top car journalists on the planet.
Thank YOU Laz for taking the time to watch and comment. Hope Australia is no longer burning. Cheers.
We hired a Suzuki Jimny in 2004 in Iceland for an 8 day holiday. Before that I always thought they were a bit of a faddy ‘Toy’ 4x4 not serious at all. That holiday changed that expectation completely-dam things can go anywhere. We drove through deep-2 ft- river crossings and at one point down a river bed for about 2 miles, up onto a glacier.......that car would go anywhere-truly amazing little vehicle.
Voice of experience; If you’re going to load the roof, upgrade the suspension. Getting one on two wheels while going around a corner is brown trouser inducing.
My favorite part of the video, when you handed your wife the keys to her new Suzuki with a red ribbon on them. Mrs. CarPervert is lovely! Stay well!
Funny enaf .
I m from East of Europe , a crazy petrol head with 8 cars in my court always .
My lovely wife , doesn't know more about cars than they ve got 4 wheels and a power steering and doors , she likes exactly the same model , actually she likes Suzuki Jimny , from previous models .

This video convinced me to test drive a Jimny. Just ordered a similar spec in silver (6 month wait for black and some other colours!). It's also my first new car. Super excited. Thanks Jonny!
My boss just has just bough5 one of these after his 16 plate defender was costing him so much in fuel and engine light problems🤷♂️🤣🤣, he’s had one of these , a 20 plate exactly the same as yours since early March and absolutely loves it😍👍. We had a look underneath and it looks the same set up as the landie. Always loved these, the estate I work on is full of Range Rovers and defenders apart from two jimnys. 🤔🤫🤫 EDIT: he was also told that because emissions are so high they don’t import many now👎👎👎
Got mine in Australia late December 2019 and upgraded the tires and put on rock sliders and yes its worth more than i paid, Suzuki can still sell them here as co2 rules are much better. great car and has gone everywhere with ease. fantastic vehicle.
Which rock sliders did you go for? I'd like a pair of those.
Tried buying one. The sales guy laughed at me. Wasn't even able to place a deposit due to poor availability.
Try to find it on used market, the manual version is not as much as the automatic version.
@matt Harvey they do, but they simply can not pump them out fast enough
With them pulling out of Europe next year, i think these will appreciate in stead of depreciate in a couple of years. They are going to be very rare
I have a 2007 Jimny, it's all jacked up and is a hoot to drive. Here in Northern Australia most of the roads are unsealed so adventure is just around every bend. I love the car drive it on or off road.
*I'd love one in Jungle Green!* 😎👍

Jimny! I did not see that coming, I’ve often thought about buying an old one just for the fun and the fact it is one of only a few cars that will fit in my garage, lovely video, thank you
I’ve enjoyed watching the release and subsequent reviews of this killer little vehicle from ‘cross the pond where she’s not allowed, but think it’s a fairly brilliant utility vehicle. That said, I’ll confess it’s only now that I realize it’s NOT called a JIMMY like the late GMC Ute, and I’m blushing behind my screen. To add to the blush, I feel like I’m forced to comment that your wife is a proper Babe! With all due respect, of course. All the best bro!
I hate SUV’s (Stupid, Useless Vehicles) and have absolutely no interest in this Suzuki, but based on your other videos, I sat through this to the end and enjoyed it, just like I’ve enjoyed your other reviews. You offer an easy-going, thorough and practical point of view, and I appreciate that muchly. Keep it up.
Such a charming little car. I love the G-Wagon style rear lights as well!

Bought the Suzuki Samurai in 1987 for $7200.00 brand new. Put nearly 300,000 miles on it before it started spewing blue smoke out the exhaust. Loved that little truck. It was great on the motorcycle trails in the woods.
excellent review .. Has anyone else ever finished an interview with Thank you darling? except maybe VBH? Another great vid Mr Vert and Mrs vert's contribution was invaluable ..

Love the new Jimney, definitely a future classic, especially now its going out of production. Shame they can't turn it into an EV!
This as a one motor per axel EV would make for a real off-road little monster, since you could get really flexible with the suspension as there's no driveshaft or diff

They aren't going out of production. They are removed from the European market for stupid CO2 laws. I've read however that the plan on putting in a new engine.
Might take a while since they can't keep up with the huge amount of orders.
Its not the end of the world though, there will be tons of these to import from Japan in years to come as well, plus they get some really cool options there that the UK doesn't
@@VeyronBD Japanese cars always have aircon... Even on the old cars, that's one good thing! You're right though, didn't think of that.
I am jealous. 17-18000 pounds for a new Jimny. In the Netherlands it started at 29500 euro's due to Co2 tax. Top spec closing in on 40000 euro's. In Germany half that. So keep it and it will keep its value. Great little 4x4's. Nice wife btw.
when she said SHAPES , i watched that scene 10 times , she is really funny 🤣🤣🤣 .. lovefrom india
This is the best Jimny review I have seen, amazing car, it just erase the past model, it seems like it directly comes from the Samurai.
I'm laughing at the fact that although a little older and married with kids you still want to mod up the car, God bless you Jonny, lovely family too!
I really enjoyed this well-put-together video of Johnny. I'm a big fan of low-key, cozy motoring such as UiilerDeelers of the past and of course content such as Johnny's. Let's just say that the UK has got this part of the market cornered. Big thumbs up from Sweden, you have me hooked!
I'd buy one of these in a heartbeat. Sad we can't get them in the US.
Get a Samurai! Basically the same car.
@@herbie53opf I'd love to but they are pretty much non-existent where I am now.
Beautiful family- happiness all around, well done and all the best.
I find Jonny incredibly watchable, and somehow you've managed to make me kind of want a Jimny. Not in black though. Definitely green or blue!
Also nice to see the (I assume long-suffering) Mrs Car Pervert. :)
Your wife has a sophisticated taste on cars... NICE!!!
Like the video and the Jimny! Looks cool! Mrs CarPervert looked so disapproving at the tea request and rightly so :D
Paul Curran Such a prick. Didn’t make him one.
Great car , we have one white with a black roof ,terrain tyres and roof rack , spotlights, just ordered that phone holder thingy you showed ..can we have another update in 6 months
Good to hear from another owner. Will probably update the Jim in a few months when some wheels and other large mod items have been added. Might also go green landing if we're allowed.
CarPervert again it’s the wife’s car used most days 4500 miles now , makes me smile every time I do manage to drive it ..rowing boat on wheels , bit different from a 911
Man I remember seeing you on tv many years ago on fifth gear.
Funny that. I am not really a SUV guy, never liked them, in fact, i would say, i usually call them kid-murder-cars (as quite a few kids get killed each year by SUVs in my city).
But this review was actually very enjoyable, rounded, and down to earth. Really like it. Go on, make more content like that, although i do know that a long review like this really needs a lot of work.
12:54 Back to Black: making up for that lack of two colour in dazzling 7-tone!
We've been having ours ( the Style one) since July this year and waited almost 9 months for it and it was well worth it!
Every day I get into this little gem it puts a big smile on my face...It really is sooo much fun to drive and I almost get as much looks and positive comments as when I drive one of the two USA gas guzzlers I normally drive. One is a '77 Grand Marquis and the other a 1968 Buick Electra Coupe...We actually bought the Jimny for my wife just for the looks...but once I had taken it for a test drive that is when I fell in love with it and we ordered one, not as cheap as in the UK and Germany as this is The Netherlands.
In case you didn't know, the Dutch invented tax and the purchase of our Jimny was a complete rip off just because of the tax we paid 31,400 euri's !! Still no regrets as we both love it...I will probably never use it off road unless we drive it 2400 KM to our daughter who lives in Portugal and owns a B&B in Ericeira, Ola Onda. I bought this little guy for the looks, the fun to drive and the old school technique.....
Since they will be discontinued , it instantly becomes a temporary classic.
I really enjoyed your presentations Johnny !
i wished i could afford one..i really like these small 4x4's
Bought one in white in September 2020, automatic, absolutely love it. Best car I’ve ever had. Thanks for the info of the add ons.
Thanks John, glad you like yours. They are character cars. The rock sliders are heavy but probably my favourite add on so far.
