I judged at the county fair one year. One of my neighbors brought an embroidered tablecloth and 12 napkins to exhibit. She had started the project with her grandmother over 50 years ago. Her grandmother used it to teach her how to do embroidery. She finished that last napkin 50 years later. It was a gorgeous set and I will never feel bad about how long a WIP is hanging around my house.
This makes me feel better about the 30 year WIP I finished during Quarantine. My tale isn’t quite so moving. I started a pattern my roommate had brought home from Israel. It was a reverse pattern cross-stitch in college in a single color. I ran out of floss and couldn’t find the exact color match. Fast forward 30 years and I decided I could live with a color match that wasn’t perfect. Guess what? No one has ever been able to see what I was so critical of all this years ago.
A few months ago I fell into the worst depression of my 67 years. They wanted to hospitalize me but I said no. Why? What was keeping me sane was that I was crocheting a log cabin afghan. I had to say no to being hospitalized because they wouldn’t allow me to bring my yarn and hook. I’m much better now. I’ve completed all my squares but now I’m on to my least favorite part, sewing it together. It’s made of fall colors so I want it done by fall. I’ve crocheted for 58 years now. I can honestly say that it served me well this year.
"What I do is not frivolous, it's not silly." Thank you! I needed to hear that! I started crocheting after my dad passed unexpectedly and was recently told this hobby was childish by a person I cared about. Hearing something like that really takes the wind out of your sails. This craft is important and it heals!
Clearly that person understands neither the artistry, fine motor coordination, pattern reading intelligence, nor endorphin releasing qualities of crochet. It is sheer ignorance to call an age old form of functional art “childish”. Besides that, even if it could be qualified as childish, so freaking what?!? If it helps you work through your grief, what difference does it make? Tell that person to take a long walk off a short dock, pick up your hook, and create your heart out! 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
Wow… that person must be wanting to control what you do with your time and attention. CONTROL. Just reply that you enjoy it and it releases stress. If they care about you, they shouldn’t want to belittle what you enjoy.
I started crocheting when I was struggling to quit smoking cigarettes as a way to help the behavioral aspect of needing to do something with my hands, and as a way to help quell the social anxiety of being in social groups as an adult. I can thankfully say that I'm on my 5th year of being cigarette free and I still crochet because I enjoy it! It brings me joy and helps me think things through as well as pushes me out of my comfort zone at times. Crochet, as an art form, certainly has helped me grow in ways I didn't think about when initially picking it up, and I wouldn't change a thing. You do you. Take your journey as you can and do what you can when you can. Healing takes as long as it takes, and sometimes, it's a lifelong endeavor.
@@Yarnofthewild Brilliant idea, crocheting to do something with your hands other than pick up a cigarette. Did you ever feel that you were becoming obsessed with crochet as well? I mean, other than the level of obsession most crocheters have 😉. Congrats on five years!!! 👏🏻👍🏼👏🏻👍🏼
Absolutely there is a healing quality about all fiber arts, whether it's crochet, knitting, Tunisian or anything else. I've even found it helps with pain relief after surgery. Cheers and hugs to you!
17:10 you cannot believe how reassuring it is that even advanced crocheters like you sometimes need to relearn things, look up tutorials and wiggle your way into it. Really interesting to see someone else's process!
21:31 you actually just made me tear up! I’ve been feeling real low lately, but I just keep crocheting every day. I just…I needed to hear your words today, so big thank you!!! ❤
As a 13 year old with autism and adhd I don’t know how you can just do that all day and barely get distracted. I’ve been playing around with wool since I was 5 or 6 I started off with finger knitting and then I started doing knitting when I was 9 and then I have been teaching myself crocheting for a year now and I only know like 2 stitches like a single crochet and I forgot the name of the other one. But like I find it hard just to stick to one project at a time. I find it hard to understand tutorials and but that’s how I’ve been trying to learn crocheting. Also you inspire me with all the different ideas you have. Also the longest project that I finished off for someone who doesn’t crochet anymore is around 6-7 years old and it was originally the back panel of an apron and I finished crocheting it and turned it into a bag! It’s not completely done yet all I have to do is a strap for it.
Honestly, it takes practice in patience and focus. You’re only 13. You’re young and still developing. Give yourself grace. You will have time to develop the focus. I’m 42 with ADHD and what I am capable now is vastly different than what I could do at 13. You can and will get there. Just keep trying. I love listening to audiobooks or UA-cam videos as I work. One thing that keeps me focused is putting videos of the same thing I’m working on. So as I crochet, I have this channel or a vintage one. If I am quilting, I put on Missouri Star Quilt Co.
I agree, it takes time and patience. I am 54 with ADHD and autism. My passion with yarn started at 9 same as you. But I didn’t have UA-cam or the endless amounts of patterns available. I did have yarn back then. ❤ it’s really hard now to get yarn unfortunately where I live. Mostly due to store closures. But I knitted every single day. It being 10 minutes or an hour. Then when I had to work full time I didn’t get to do much for many years but I always went back. It’s always my go to hobby. Start working on squares like dish cloths with cotton yarn. It doesn’t matter if you make a mistake. And you have something useful after for the kitchen. That’s what I started with. Take time every day to do some. Set a little timer. Watch how to videos. You will learn and grow 😊. It takes time to grow a hobby.🇨🇦
I'm glad you recognize that what you do is meaningful and important. My mom, who was an avid crafter, died last year at only 56. I wanted to really commit to the hobbies I was interested in, as a way to stay connected with her. Your videos were some of the first ones I watched when trying to learn crochet, and the way you explain things has been so helpful! I was able to make my grandmother a Tunisian crochet blanket for Mother's Day this year, and she loved it. I'm now working on one of your shawl patterns, and it feels really good to make something with my hands and not get frustrated and give up! Thank you for doing what you do!
I learned sc and dc stitches when I was a child. It wasn't until I retired 4 years ago that I started exploring all the variety of styles and stitches that are part of crochet. But when my daughter died 2 years ago, I discovered the incredible healing that crochet can provide. Thank you for spreading the gospel of crochet!
I adore Hooked by Robin & I have been following her for years - she is just amazing and makes things so very easy to follow ! She's wonderful. Her page will explode now that you've mentioned her and I'm sure she'll be happy! I also have tons of granny squares from *all* of the Pallette tiny balls of yarn - I have all three boxes....not all made but you inspire me to dig it out again. I love small projects (squares) like this for summer time- so much better than having a hot wool blanket on while you bring it all together. Thank you Toni! You are the best! xo
20:50 ugh!!! Yes ma’am! Last year I made a granny square blanket for my mom for Christmas and to see my mom open the box with the blanket felt like an unreasonably big deal to me but I had been working on that blanket for almost a year and for the whole months of November and December I was absolutely overjoyed seeing the blanket come together 🥹
I have a WIP that is about ten years old, but I inherited it from my grandmother when she passed away. It is an afghan with a bunch of triangles that get joined together. I’ve been trying to work on it a little at a time, but my grandfather was a super heavy smoker and the smell from the yarn gets to me. Would love to finish it as a tribute to her as she taught me to crochet as a child.
You’re absolutely right about this craft being a healing tool. The day that I heard the news that my son died, I bought some yarn and made myself a shawl. My crocheting and knitting have gotten me through some really bad times.
"Let me break this down for you." Yes, girl!! More granny square ideas, please. I have a mountain of them and I don't want to make bags or hats with them. My granny squares have been hibernating for several years, so now I'm inspired to throw them together. No More Stack.
I turn all my leftover yarn into squares and, after blocking them, store them in a bin... anytime anyone wants to order a custom granny square blanket, I invite them over and show them the bin... we'll discuss joining yarn and how big they'll want it (how many squares they'll need) and then I'll let them dig through the bin picking out enough squares to fit their blanket... often they lay them out themselves, so all I need to do is connect them and add a cute border... ppl love creating their own blankets like that... and for me it's a great stash-buster...
I used some of my scraps to make 3x5 lap afghans which I donated to shut ins. Great way to use up scraps and I felt so good as I watched them leave my care to warm someone else😊
Does UA-cam randomly unsubscribe people? I ask because I know I was subscribed to your channel... and sat down to watch this video today and saw the "subscribe" icon and I was like "what????". Anyway, I love your videos and smile every time I watch. Your joyfulness is contagious. ❤
Do you watch her regularly? Because after I stopped watching channels regularly yt unsubbed me from multiple of those channels if you’re here every time she uploads it might be a glitch at youtubes end
I rewatch this video every time I need a little mental health boost - it’s so easy for us to harshly judge ourselves when we feel things are taking too long or aren’t up to the expectations we set for ourselves, but that’s a very human experience and feeling. We aren’t failures because we have WIPs that are years old - WE ARE HUMAN!! 💖
Thank you for your beautiful words. I love to crochet and I always think my loved ones think I’m a little crazy with all my yarn buys. I’m such an average crocheter, but sure makes me happy. I appreciate your encouraging thoughts.
I now know what I’m going to do with 40 of the hundreds of mini skeins I’ve amassed. This is gorgeous!!! Sheba and Pepper are so sweet and seem to be tolerating each other so much better!!❤️
I have a WIP that is literally 25 years old! It was a beautiful queen size crochet blanket that was done completely in pinwheel squares, but I ended up having my first of five babies and when I tried to go back to it I couldn't remember my plan. That's why I think it's important to keep a project diary so you have all that information in one place. You have really inspired me today to go ahead and try to get it back out again. It really was beautiful! Thank you! ❤️🧶❤️🧶❤️
Hooked by Robin is a great teacher. She's who i started watching when i picked up crocheting again. And then i came here as well. Both of you are amazing
Absolutely LOVE the way you always give PROPER credit for your inspiration/ideas. It speaks to your integrity and your character. Traits that so many online crochet artist LACK.
I started to crochet because I saw a pumpkin made with a bobble stitch that I just had to make. 3 years later I’ve made several projects including a granny square cardigan. I’m starting chemo & radiation in June & I’ll be depending on my crochet to keep me calm & focused as I sit through the treatment. Crochet really is good for the soul.
This is my first time watching one of your videos. Your blanket is beautiful. It took me 26 years to finally finish a blanket that was half done. I developed carpal tunnel in my right hand from my factory job, and couldn't crochet. My factory closed and I ended up going to college at 54 yrs. old. Yeah, degree and diploma, and couldn't get a job. Went to night school classes again to become a CNA. The carpal tunnel came back to life, and I ended up having to have surgery on my my right hand. They made a 1" incision, cut the carpal tunnel to free up the nerves, and I woke up a half hour later with no pain in my thumb. I retired 6 weeks later. That was 2015, and 6 months later (Sept) I picked up a crochet hook for the first time. Thankfully, I still had the magazine with the pattern to finish my blanket. Yeah, the Red Heart yarn did change color ever so slightly in 26 yrs. I finished that blanket and then proceeded to teach myself how to do Tunisian crochet and made 2 smaller blanket in time for Christmas. I haven't put down a crochet hook since. I've even attempted to teach my 8 yr. old GD how to crochet, but I think she just wasn't into sitting down that long. As long as my hands keep working, they'll still be crocheting. My present projects are making chemo caps.
I have been crocheting and knitting for the past 41 years now and Just this year I learned to tunisian crochet from you. I feel like there is always something new to learn no matter how long you have been crocheting or knitting. My grandmother taught me when I was 9 years old. No one else in my family crochets or knits. I am teaching my granddaughters. Granny Squares are what I am teaching them first.
Thank you for your video. Crochet is 100% therapeutic. When my brother-in-law passed away from covid in 2021, me, my mom & sister-in-law eached crochet blocks & we added them together to make a memory blanket for my sister. It was a project of love & we thoroughly enjoyed doing it ❤
I have a 13 year old WIP which was a turtle blankie for my now 12 year old nephew. It is still in squares and you have inspired me to dig it out and complete it.......I'm sure there is another baby I can gift it to.
A purple border?? Toni! Who ARE you?? 😄 But really, the blanket is gorgeous. I love that you shared the process (I now need to learn that join) and talked about the importance of the craft to you. Your love for it is beautiful and I hope you know what an inspiration you are. (And now I know that I need to finish my 2023 temperature blanket - joining the squares and adding a border! - since you have shown me the way 😊.) Many thanks!!!
It is such a joy to me to gift blankets to friends and family that I have crocheted from my heart for them. This year I am stash busting and making many blankets.
Watching you is like sitting and talking with a great friend. You make me laugh (out loud!) and get all the feels that come from doing something you love. As a side note, I’m glad you were able to get both the PET scan and the CAT scan while doing the layout. Their input is invaluable! 😎
9:32 You have black "frames" over your gold frames; as a person who wears glasses all the time, I would like to know what you used so maybe I can dress up my own. The look is stunning, which is what made me notice them. Your blanket is wonderful; I did not see the vision at first, but I am glad you did. My oldest WIP is about 25 years old. I started a baby blanket for my niece, then lost the pattern and the rest of the yarn skeins. I held onto it because I knew I had the pattern and yarn somewhere. I finally found the rest of the project about a month ago. Also, my first thought when you received the box of yarn was how you had just got done decluttering your stash.
My cousin sent me this video. She said you remind her of me. How you speak and how fast you crochet. I said ok let me see? Girl you had me at coffee and your many mugs, lol. But yes I saw me in you. Love your vibes and the blankets lovely. You are so right no one likes to put those squares together. I will make a heavy blanket over putting squares together. I started a granny blanket maybe 6-7 years ago but it’s tiny squares. After watching your video maybe I’ll go back to it? I’ve been crocheting for over 37 years and it’s true that once I’m done with something big or small I feel so proud because I made it! I truly enjoyed this video. Your furry babies are too adorable. Thank you 😊
Such a fantastic video! About midway through the video when you were talking about your thoughts about finishing a project, I just had to pause and reflect because you explained perfectly how I felt about my first blanket project. I started my first blanket after picking up crochet in the middle of my PhD during a really bad mental health rut/burnout period. It was my first big project, a blanket with many sample squares of different types of stitches. It was something I picked up and put down, and for awhile I didn’t touch it because it was so overwhelming to just finish it! But when I finally did (with the encouragement from my husband), I saw the beauty in that project again and how it got me through such a huge milestone. Took me 4 years to finish that blanket but it’s one of the most fulfilling things I’ve made. Much love to you Toni!
I have finished watching the Ultimatum South Africa during my workday as well. It was a piece of work. Thank you for your videos, your voice is so calming. I started back crocheting after my mom got diagnosed as Alzheimer's related dementia. I took care of her as best I could then I had to put her in a home because I was asked to go back to the office. I used it to deal with my anxiety and depression because of her illness. Thank you again.
I have learned so much and gained so much inspiration from you, Toni. The thing I value most is the Process. In the past, I rushed through projects. Watching you take the time to arrange and rearrange your squares, learn or relearn a new process, has taught me what it takes to make a project I can be proud of. I am more intentional and precise with my crochet. Crochet and gardening have helped me as my husband and I deal with his illness. Crochet allows me to be in control of something and gardening allows me to create beauty in my world. Crochet is important, and you are important to crochet.
I have a Christmas tree skirt that I started about 20 years ago. It sits in a bag next to my chair while I work on my current project, a sweater for my 21-year old!
Former crocheter turned knitter here. I still crochet cat toys here and there. My oldest WIP is a granny square blanket I was making for a former work colleague. I finished most if not all of the squares around 2010. Then life happened and the intended recipient is no longer in my life. I dreaded sewing squares together, so I put this project in major timeout. I just found my WIP yesterday, and this video popped up in my feed today. I’m now inspired to finish my granny square blanket using the method you showed!!! I’m planning to take little breaks from knitting to finally finish my blanket. I really enjoy watching you crochet while I knit. Thanks again for the inspiration. ❤
I've almost finished my (I think) 33rd blanket, but they are like therapy to me. In 2016 my sweet husband passed away very suddenly and too soon and I completed 2 blankets that year! My friends ask me why so many? Thank you for justifying my love of yarn and creating something beautiful. My crocheting friends bring their squares to me to create a layout for them. Love, love colour! ❤
Hey Toni ~~ I love your videos with your vast amount of knowledge and your very soothing voice ~~ I can listen to you all day long ~~ but I definitely have you beat ~~ my WIP among others is 18 years ~~ yup that is not a typo ~~ it is a knitted sweater pattern that has a 12 row repeat and EVERY SINGLE ONE IS COUNTING ~~ 😩😩 ~~ but it will get done in the not too distant future ~~ it has to ~~ I just turned 71 ~~ now how many tick tocks do I have left ~~ keep all your brilliance coming , girl ~~ 💝💝💝
I love your energy, your kindness and your happiness when sharing your love of crocheting! I watch UA-cam on my TV so am not able to comment so I broke out my laptop to send this comment. I chose to watch this episode because I too have a bunch of squares that I need to put together for an afghan (sitting totally undisturbed for many years...pathetic)😃! I enjoyed watching your systematic process of organizing the squares and tagging them to keep them in order to join together. Thank you for your enthusiasm and your exceptional teaching style.
I have a stack of grannies in a wool acrylic blend that’s been sitting in a bin since before Covid🫣lol! Toni, you’ve inspired me to get those babies connected 🤗
“She’s made friends with the birds,” 😂😂😂 not me being called out for trying to befriend the wild rabbits in our yard by planting them their own garden. 😂😂😂
I love your channel! I learned to crochet as a child from my mother but never really stuck with it. Fast forward to around 2007, and I picked up the craft again. I have been crocheting ever since. This craft had gotten me through the death of both of my parents, stresses in day to day life, and kept my hands busy while my mind relaxed. My oldest WIP is a "Friends" tv show themed afghan that I've been working on since 2017!! I made the most progress on the afghan during covid, but unfortunately, it's still not completed. I've been working on it on and off since 2017. One of these days I will finish it! 😊
I have a paper-pieced flower quilt that I started when I was pregnant w my daughter. She’ll be 30 this year 🤣🤣🤣I have it back in my queue to finish for one of my great nieces 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Oh my goodness, it’s so beautiful. I have to admit that grannies are my favorite thing to make. I made so many that they are really a muscle memory thing. I have severe glaucoma, so my vision is pretty bad, but I can still make my granny squares. Grannies are so soothing to the soul. They are definitely my go to crochet. I just love them. Your blanket is absolutely beautiful, and I am so glad that you finally decided to put them together. I love watching your videos because you are so inspiring. Your enthusiasm and love for your craft is definitely catching. And I love that you love my favorite thing, which is the granny Square. I have always put a chain one between clusters, but have started bleeding that chain one, and I like the look . In fact, I love how the square looks when I dropped that chain one. The fabric is denser, and I love that the holes are smaller. Robin is, indeed, a wonderful teacher. I had saved several of her tutorials and referred to them every now and then. I live near Cincinnati, and I’m wondering where you moved to when you left Columbus. I feel as if I already know, but just can’t remember. I will be 81. In September, and crochet is a part of my daily life. I never go a day without crocheting, something, usually a granny square, or a few granny squares. I always have a project in my bag, and on my bed. Coffee and crochet in the morning is my favorite thing. Your cat is beautiful and pepper is just adorable. I recently lost my two precious babies, and always enjoy seeing the little guys in the videos I watch. Blessings and hugs, Sandy from Cincinnati❤
That's exactly what I do lay them out on the bed. However, my dog will just plopped on top of them sometimes, sooo I have learned to take photos of each of my ideas in case they get moved😊
I'm currently on a wip that has been 15 years off and on. The yarn has a lot of drag on itself, so I really hate crocheting with it, so I only work on it for a half hour at a time, or less. I would have scrapped it, but the finished blanket will be for my husband. He's begged me to finish. It is going to be gorgeous
This really spoke to me; I love how gentle you are with yourself about those old WIP's. I have an old WIP I began when I learned of my only daugthter's first pregnancy four years ago - a maternity sweater : o I was only a beginner and that was sooo out of my depth but I thought I could and then.... LIFE. My beautiful grandson was born two mos early during COVID and all the things just crushed my cromo. Happy ending, after four mos in NICU he came home and all is well but no sweater. I made it to the last sleeve and then the join but it has sat in the closet four long years just waiting for its moment. I didn't care that she no longer needed the maternity sweater and by now she would be swimming in it I was determined to finish it. Well then again LIFE and come to find out she is newly pregnant with baby due in April 2025 I have no excuses for not finishing this maternity sweater. We laugh about it and im glad she was such a good sport to get another baby on board to help me get my cromo back. Thanks to YOU for allowing me to be gentle on myself : )
My Boulevard Blanket took >7 years! When my sister passed I got many of her yarns. Started the blanket in 2017, finished this month. It’s lovely! My youngest daughter, who I gifted it to, LOVES it. I still have soooo much of sis’ yarn left!! I finished 2 WIP after mom passed & presented them to a brother & a niece for her baby. The tears were flowing!! Another I just finished a couple rows & called it a throw (we couldn’t figure who it was meant for). My daughter asked for it as a momento. 😘🤗🧶💜☮️
I'm glad I'm not the only one that talks to the tutorial person like 'Hold up, ma'am, I'm not there yet!' Also as a newbie it's very nice to see a crochet pro still learning things! Thank you for all you do and showing your process!
Just found you and I am IN! Girl you are so real and sweet. These kinds of crafts are so good for blankets to homeless and animal shelters REALLY appreciate them. And COFFEE okay I am for sure with you! Will watch more of your videos and thank you for this. Just getting back into my crochet habits!
just watching this, and have to say your baby doggy is soo cute on the bed while you set out your squares. He's like saying ok this looks good mom and keep these here. :)
That's a beautiful "scrap " blanket.you would never know it was made with leftover yarn.i always said leftover yarn crochets just as good as a brand new skein.just beautiful!
instant follow! felt like i was crocheting with a friend. the pets laying on your stuff and letting them sniff the cake is too relatable! you’re very beautiful and talented thanks for the cozy vid!
Great job Tony I love how your cat and dog jump on the project to . I was wondering how your family felt how fair you come with your bussiness I am proud of you I . Habe great day girl
Hi there. I am not new to crocheting by no means, but I understand very clearly about sometimes when you start a project you end up getting in a rut and just get tired of the project. So you just put it down. I’ve done that so many times that I can’t count. I end up looking up new patterns then starting new projects. Then put that one down and start up another one. Then I get down on myself and pick up the first project and end up finishing it. The feeling of completing a project is the most joyfulness feeling ever. Talking about that feeling, I will have to say that I started a project back in February 1998 well, I’m very embarrassed to admit this, but I had that project stash for 24 years before I finished it. Which means it didn’t get finished until 2022. No I don’t have it anymore. I wished I would have taken a photo of it, but didn’t. So I'm pretty sure I have you and many others beat on project stashing.😂
I don’t know how to crochet. I’ve tried, it’s a little mind boggling to me but I’m sure I’ll get there, but anyway this lady is AN ARTIST! I want her glasses. Her head scarf. Her house, all her projects all of it. She’s amazing. Love her.
I don't think I have a WIP that old as I've being batching projects. I worked on 5 new sweaters at the beginning of this year and now I've moved on to frogging projects. Starting my second mitten after not wearing the finished pair for 2 years! They didn't fit. Now, i don't feel like I've wasted my time + money. I love your corner to corner fade. Just like you, can't explain why but it was speaking to me. Oooh, the drape!!!!! Last year, I crocheted a solid granny blanket using a Scheepjes box. All beautiful colours, but I used 48 as squares with 1 colour for joining. 1 mini left. I calculated how much I needed to join and border then ordered same. I've played too many games of yarn chicken from my stash so now I just order. Also used the leftovers from the minis, tied together as a filler border between two rows of the neutral joining/border colour. If that makes sense. Congrats on completing your blanket. Very much worth the wait and I hope this accelerates your crojo!
Ok first off, now I want all the mini skeins - how did I not know what this is. Must go search and buy all the minis now!! Second, I will now abandon mine current 20 WIPs to go make a mini granny blanket lol And lastly, I have to check out this honeybee thing. It looks so cute!! Great, fun video. I watched while I had my morning coffee and we crochet the same way, with the dog on top of me and a cup of coffee in front of Netflix 😂
Hi, I am new here but; 21:05 ... You broke me, I am in tears because this is such a wholesome moment. This is inspirational and I feel motivated now. Yarn crafts have been keeping me out of the dark and Ma'am you are the light. Keep content creating please. We need you
I’ve been crocheting over 65 years. About 40 of that I have been a crochet designer. Not once in all those years, after making many, many granny square blankets, did it ever occur to me to make one with fingering yarn. I absolutely love everything about your blanket, especially the colors used and the drape.Beautiful!
Hello Tony! Thank you so much for making this video. I have many granny squares I made during the pandemic as well, and you have made me so excited about putting them together and making a masterpiece! You have given me so much of your joy today, and I can't thank you enough for sharing your "joy in the journey" with me!! I look forward to watching more of your videos. Thank you again Tony!
This is a BEAUTIFUL blanket! I have you beat, I have wips from over 25 years ago, LOLOL!!! Yeah, They might not get finished... sigh I will be 70 this year and the giddy up is almost gone. LOL
What a gorgeous story ❤

How is the afghan coming along? Hope you're still doing well!
I’m glad your doing better.
I love sewing the pieces together!
"What I do is not frivolous, it's not silly." Thank you! I needed to hear that!
It’s the pets walking all over the squares for me. It’s too relatable. 😂❤
17:10 you cannot believe how reassuring it is that even advanced crocheters like you sometimes need to relearn things, look up tutorials and wiggle your way into it. Really interesting to see someone else's process!
Yes, our brains just can't retain information that isn't used all the time, no shame in that 😊
I've been crocheting since I was 9 and there's just too much to remember lol
"she churns her own butter she's made friends with the birds" girl, GOALS!
I came here to comment on the same line, too good!
Hi, when you said 4, yeas, I busted out laughing . You’re doing good from reading the comments. lol! I love your channel❤
"Bummer my job is getting in the way of my crochet" 😂 so real hahaha also, the speech on art being important & meaningful 💯🙌👏
My grandmother died in 1991, she crocheted and knitted. I learned ten years after she died. Crochet is a connection with a grandmother I barely knew.
My grandma was also the one who taught me I've been crocheting since I was 9
I learned sc and dc stitches when I was a child. It wasn't until I retired 4 years ago that I started exploring all the variety of styles and stitches that are part of crochet.
But when my daughter died 2 years ago, I discovered the incredible healing that crochet can provide.
Thank you for spreading the gospel of crochet!
My sincerest condolences for your loss. Your daughter lives in your heart. ❤❤
You are the best! xo
Same! I’ve been watching her videos since before I even started crocheting 4 years ago lmao
Try airing it out for a bit before working on it. I had a similar issue, and I handwashed my squares and dried them on a line outside. 😊
Maybe you could put all of the WIP in a lingerie bag and wash on gentle, then hang to dry. A little white vinegar helps remove smoke odors.
Get it dry cleaned!
i saw your comment so i checked and im also not subscribed... i could have sworn i was!
Yes. UA-cam does that. It's happened to me with a few channels I subscribe to. Not sure why it does that.
Do you watch her regularly? Because after I stopped watching channels regularly yt unsubbed me from multiple of those channels if you’re here every time she uploads it might be a glitch at youtubes end
UA-cam does unsubscribe people even if they do watch regularly. It’s annoying
Hi guys,
Be sure to check your notification settings, hit the bell button and check the "all" option too. That may help.
✌️🩷🧶
I rewatch this video every time I need a little mental health boost - it’s so easy for us to harshly judge ourselves when we feel things are taking too long or aren’t up to the expectations we set for ourselves, but that’s a very human experience and feeling. We aren’t failures because we have WIPs that are years old - WE ARE HUMAN!! 💖
Thank you for your beautiful words. I love to crochet and I always think my loved ones think I’m a little crazy with all my yarn buys. I’m such an average crocheter, but sure makes me happy. I appreciate your encouraging thoughts.
Everything about you is delightful. Your smile, your energy, your expressions. Thank you for being such a joy regarding crocheting granny squares. 😊
I’m cracking up how Toni put Pepper on the floor and he came right back . 😂
🤣
Your pets are so helpful. 🤣
Best wishes and positive vibes for the upcoming treatment ❤
Pep being wrapped in a crocheted blanket watching you crochet another is everything.
Hooked by Robin is another one of my FAVES!!!! She is fabulous!
Oh, the colours, oooooohh the drape ~ stun-ning
the way my jaw DROPPED when you opened those mini stash drawers!! so gorgeous!!
You’re right. The variegated square is simply beautiful. The Sunbleached color you chose to join the squares is perfect.
You have the most soothing voice. I could listen to you all day.
Yarn, cats, dogs and coffee? I love it all! This is Ana from São Paulo, Brazil, I think your project is really gorgeous, thank you!
Yes, our hobbies are not cheap, but, what we make is totally unique to us. Beautiful and thank you for your wonderful channel ❤🇬🇧
Is it weird that I love how your hands move when you crochet, such a delicate touch and graceful hand.
Btw, I love that your fur babies “help out.”
Just picked up a 2 1/2 year WIP again tonight, and this was truly the perfect video to get me back in the crochet mood ☺
Wasn't expecting to tear up about crochet today. Sometimes you don't know you need it but validation is so good. thanks Toni
I absolutely love how it looks and now feel I need to learn how to join granny squares. I am more of a continuous granny square girl.
This illustrates the difference between cats and dogs. Love them both!
EDITING TONI WAS ON FIRE!!!!
I have a stack of grannies in a wool acrylic blend that’s been sitting in a bin since before Covid🫣lol!
Toni, you’ve inspired me to get those babies connected 🤗
Robins continuous join as you go is the best!!! I have to watch a refresher often!!
Woodsy nymph, churns her own butter, makes friends with the birds. 😆 I love this tutorial and gives me inspo to actually finish my granny WIP.
Toni, I love how you just said this so casually .... but it's so perfect...and hilarious 😂
“She’s made friends with the birds,” 😂😂😂 not me being called out for trying to befriend the wild rabbits in our yard by planting them their own garden. 😂😂😂
I may be contemplating getting my visiting rabbits a little shelter to hide out in. They like to lounge on my driveway and eat the clover.
Love the pet cameos! So cute!
The blanket turned out great.
That's exactly what I do lay them out on the bed. However, my dog will just plopped on top of them sometimes, sooo I have learned to take photos of each of my ideas in case they get moved😊
It's pretty. Soothing without being boring. I had a quilt WIP that was 7 to 8 years old. I finally finished it in January.
Your blanket looks lovely! Thank you for sharing your process with all of us.
This Blanket is so beautiful. I have to give the * join as you go * a go.
The queen of color placement !
Your videos are great and important! I’m from Brazil and watch all! You’ve changed my world!
Love the blanket! It turned out super pretty! I think I have a couple WIPS in my bin from college that are *cough* about 20 years old.
Girl, I love granny squares and coffee. I am subscribed to hooked by Robin. She does good tutorials.
just watching this, and have to say your baby doggy is soo cute on the bed while you set out your squares. He's like saying ok this looks good mom and keep these here. :)
I love your blanket. The muted colours work so well together and it looks nice and cozy
That's a beautiful "scrap " blanket.you would never know it was made with leftover yarn.i always said leftover yarn crochets just as good as a brand new skein.just beautiful!
The blanket is gorgeous! 😊
instant follow! felt like i was crocheting with a friend. the pets laying on your stuff and letting them sniff the cake is too relatable! you’re very beautiful and talented thanks for the cozy vid!
The drape in that blanket makes me emotional! 🥰
I squealed out loud at that unrolling reveal! That motion and drape! I'm so so happy for you!
You are a true crochet sister! Thanks for the drama we all feel when we are in the zone!,
I don’t know how to crochet.
But you are saving the world of you!! I adore your blanket.☺
Ok first off, now I want all the mini skeins - how did I not know what this is. Must go search and buy all the minis now!!
Second, I will now abandon mine current 20 WIPs to go make a mini granny blanket lol
And lastly, I have to check out this honeybee thing.
