Same here! My mom had this blanket (gifted by her best friend), on our family room couch for ages. Everyone want to have this blanket around them when settling in to watch tv. Warm and cozy!
I DID IT!!! I tried this as an experiment. Didn't love the colors but chose the colors I had extra of. I had some trouble with the sizing and making sure i had the correct beginning chain. I'll have to get a better handle on it before I do another one. But all in all I'm pretty proud of myself for getting it done. And now that it's done, I don't hate the colors. Yay!!!
June 30 2024: Love the explaination of the filet stitch and ending the row to have a smooth edge. This looks so complicated, but you have shown how it is doable. You are so right when measuring strains and how they grow! Wow that weaving really secures the tassels also. Side note I have never seen a “yarn bobbin”. This makes it so easy with picking colors. Thank you for the pointers and your “mistakes” that gives us notice of what may happen. Just came across your channel and needed a blanket for my teen grandson. This one is perfect. Thank you for posting this gorgeous blanket.
This brought me happy memories. In the early 80s one of my grandmothers crocheted blankets like this for all her grandchildren, and at least some of the older great-grands. I still have mine. ❤
My mother is the one in my family who thinks she has dibs on everything I make! 😂. Even though she has quite a few of my creations already! At least they know how to make us feel good and that our creations are wanted! 🥰
@@LeoandTaurusCreations That's right! My granddaughter has several things I've made & she always lights up when I hand her something new. Makes my heart warm. ❤️

Love it all! Great job!
This is a absolutely gorgeous!!! I did this for a scarf along time ago, but never thought to do it with a blanket!!! Instead of cutting the 3 strands of yarn, I made a chain the length that I needed and weaved the chain as you did. Thanks to you…now I will do this as a blanket. I just recently brought some of this yarn as it was on sale…was going to make a cardigan. I couldn’t find you email…was going to send you a picture of the scarf. Thanks again for sharing this gorgeous masterpiece!!! Be safe and have a blessed evening…new sub and now binge watching your channel. Recommending to my other crochet friends on utube!!!
Sandra, did you do the chain for weaving thru using 3 strands so it was "chunky" enough? I thought about doing a SC chainless foundation long enough, & thick enough to weave thru the gaps :)
@@MrsGump GM…thanks for your question. I just did the normal chain used to begin a crochet project (1 strand 4 weight). It looks like a braid giving you texture. If you like…provide me with your email…I can send you a picture of my scarf.

Back in the late 60’s or early 70’s, a craft similar to this became popular. Instead of using a base of filet crochet, they used a kind of sheer curtain fabric that was a mesh. Yarn was woven through the mesh to create different patterned afghans. My grandmother made one. My grandfather, who had an artistic streak became intrigued. He came up with his own design and made one, too.
Very beautiful and creative blanket. I am now inspired to make it for myself too. I am going to make it for myself. Thanks for sharing this wonderful video! ❤
This is very nice and beautiful. Years ago I made a hand bag this way, but used a small hook. Instead of weaving in strands of yarn, I made long chains which got woven in. It turned out very nice.
I was thinking the same thing. Also why not just crochet through the grid so its attached to the blanket. I know that would make it two different sides, but might be pretty that way.
I really like this. Pattern that you shared with us. I'm going to make it. I am using Gray black and darker Gray.
