desk has put out a few videos about the unique oddities of World Warrior. Bosses being randomly invincible is actually coded into the game, believe it or not. Also, certain characters would take huge damage if they got counterhit by projectiles.
One of the odd things about playing WW again is seeing the old ways characters would fall from an air attack without flipping around to land on their feet. A lot of the time it now looks like they're falling into a dizzy state.
10:12 bro that walk in throw was straight up disrespectful..like the kind where a beginning plays ranked for the first time ever and they get matched up to a pro 💀Night night💀 😂
Remember having SF2 on snes and i grinded all the way to Bison on the hardest difficulty with Ruy. Vega was hard but menage to get thrue, but then the pain came with Sagat. For gods sake that tiger echoed probably for good 120 minutes straight. It was so frustrating but I managed to finally win. And Bison.. I Could win ONE round but then he become a GOD and it was impossible to win.. Some day i will have my revenge!
I went crazy when EGM put out the April's Fools Joke. You couldn't really try this at the arcades because you were always getting challenged. I tried it on the home versions: first on the SNES World Warrior and then on the Genesis Special Championship Edition. Tried beating the game at the highest difficulty to try and unlock Sheng Long. When it didn't work, tried to beat it without losing a match/ie no continues. When that didn't work either, I tried to beat it without losing a round. At this point the frustration factor when you owned all of the characters before getting to either Vega or Sagat and having them take one round from you. And then be a pushover for the third round. 😣😣🤬🤬 The next step beyond that was perfect rounds/no damage, and I don't think I ever pulled that off.
Yes, this was precisely why Champion Edition was made and many moves got adjusted. Zangief was absolutely unplayable if he got Okie on you just once in the game, it was all over. SPD had mad range and he could basically link any button into it, the move literally had no start up frames, it was instantaneous like a warp. Zangief could grab you after spotting you through his binoculars.
claw air kicks have big hitbox under him but not above him. the thing is wait him to wall jump and air kick him from an upper position. You can air kick him on his wake up because he has no antinair and most of times he will wake up jump, eating your air kick if you are jumping over him, not even need to cross up.
video title says "the four kings destroyed me" But there's no balrog fight. What happened? Where is it? Did Justin kick boxers ass so badly he didn't need to show it?
vs. Claw/Vega: when he's on the wall, get distance, jump back with jab / medium punch (it's about the timing). Sagat as you know, you have to push forward aggressively.
No clue what you are doing in these games sadly, but man you give so awesome vibes and are so watchable. I binge your content. All the best to you and your family
I get you, Justin. These four bosses were nightmares, even though Balrog is the easiest one to defeat. I can definitely imange how hard it must be to defeat these bosses. Beating Balrog was no problem, but Vega was annoying so was Sagat.
i played in one of those that was so altered vega could grab from the other side of the screen......the easiest victories ever......it was INSANE......
You could cancel a no charge sonic boom into a no charge flash kick and loop it, going higher and higher until you wrap vertically, and once you did that and kept going, you couldn't be hit until you stopped the loop. Watching your opponent go thru you trying to hit you out of the air was so good 😂
Tick throws were infamous in WW. In our local arcade we had a semi ban on them (if someone threw you off a block, you'd get a free hit). If you didn't oblige, it may get ugly when you got off the machine.
I remember spending ages trying to beat Bison with Zangief… That was the last character ending I needed to have beaten the game with everyone! Happy days lol
bison is just hard... some (or a lot) of it is just luck too... no matter who you are.... but ya, some characters obviously do a bit better, not having some of the weaknesses of other characters, and having some strengths that the other characters don't have, when it comes to against bison, (or whoever too) It's been so long (years and years and years), so I can't really remember who struggled with the most against bison... usually/generally zangief and dhalsim are the "weakest", though honda and blanka can sometimes have some difficulties too ryu/ken (funny, how literally no difference between them at all in terms of play), chun li, and guile, are definitely the top tier characters in SF2, though against humans chun-li is one lower tier, but against the computer, she's up in the top tier with ryu/ken and guile (not sure if the tiers are different with pros or not, maybe justin can chime in on this, at the pro level, what's the tier/ranking of the characters in SF2)
Glad to see I'm not that bad at this game. Currently trying to beat the game with all characters in all dificulties, still on level 1 (there's a level 0) trying to beat it with Zangief and then Blanka.
World Warrior would just occasionally have the CPU decide to allow your close range low kicks to pass through them, after which they punished you. There's probably videos about it on UA-cam, I'm sure. I'm pretty sure the only way I ever beat CPU Bison with Zangief was just spamming him with standing jumping kicks and jabs. It's essentially the same way any decent Chun Li player can crush Bison repeatedly in this version.
when Vega comes off the fence, with Zangief, you can counter by jumping straight up and then hitting up and HP for the "bell-acher" which breaks the splash if you time it right.
The 10-0 Zangief vs Honda matchup works on the SNES version only. Zangief can SPD Honda at startup as soon as the voice says “Fight!”, Honda cannot scape at all, even if he tries to jump.
SF was mostly my jam when I was a teen.. I’d play for hours on end while listening to music & stuff.. About a week ago something possessed me to download Ultra SF IV.. And, yesterday & today I’ve just been buying them the oldies on Switch & just now SF 6
being hit by high tiger shots WHILE DUCKING is cheap!! and yes , beating the game without the ryu and ken was tough asf but doable back then. good times and also bad times when bosses short and jab did fierce and roundhouse damage lol
I was at the arcade (SF Bay area) one night and playing World Warrior back in 1993? I remember seeing a Zangief player who kept doing that. From then I started to believe that Zangief was the most broken character in SF2.
about 8 months ago i was playing sf2 on my family's sega megadrive 2. i was playing ryu and coming from sf5 and sf6 to this game was tough. games like these were designed to be a coin vacuum lol. i had to play each character multiple times to beat them. through sheer determination and luck i finally got onto playing against bison. that guy was so hard to fight against. i fought against him in so many battles that the match counter got to match 99 and due to memory limits stopped counting after that and i still hadn't beat him. i eventually gave up because my mom was calling me for dinner. i haven't played the game since then, mostly because having to switch between kicks and punches by pressing the start button was really annoying. but one day i swear i will beat him and i will see ryu's ending.
Get a 6 button sega pad its the best way to play and way more comfortable than the 3 button or the snes controller for fighting games. Heavy attack on the shoulder buttons always annoyed me.
This tech works all the way thru SF 2 hyper fighting. Did it with Ken a lot. Called it chip throw. Found on my own when I was kid. Never thought of zangief doing it on this level.

Lariat got projectile invincibility later. Sagat could block stun half the cast and tiger uppercut you when you got free. Dictator's psycho crusher was REAL back in World Warrior.
SF2 has no projectile invincibility. But the move has no hurtboxes from the knees up untill the head, so the playable characters' projectiles go through it. Too bad Sagat's hit on either the head or the shins.
in the world warrior you can just hold up and roundhouse on bison repeatedly, he has no defense against it . love the addition of the definitions in the video
if remember right... (not sure now, lol), even in SF2, you can do zangief's spinning punch, which makes him immune to fireballs (they go through him, so the timing can be difficult, and then there's still the opponent's next attack, so, it's still dangerous for you to to do the spinning punch), and I think it does work for both of sagat's fireballs, both the high and low one, but could be wrong... hadn't played this game for "just" a few decades, lol
Ah yes...When Guile had a better voice. Too bad they ruined his voice Super Turbo 😣 Also, Dhalsim's KO scream always makes me feel sorry for him 😢 Edit: I would like to see Justin Wong playing the original Fighter's History, NOT Dynamite. The OG FH has better music and voices than its sequel
When I was younger, it was rare for me to beat Vega. Whenever I did, Sagat crushed all of my dreams. The Shadaloo Kings were vicious.
Sagat definitely gave me more trouble than Bison. Bison was relatively easy.
you not lying esp when vega climb the gate and get you with that mid air back drop
