Just last week (3 months later) my A1C came back 5.4. Was 205lbs now I’m 169lbs. My liver enzymes were 77 and 119 now they’re 28 and 32. My Cholesterol was over 210 now 179. Triglycerides even came back to normal range. Too much Processed sugar is not a good thing. I’m living proof. Didn’t even exercised just change of diet. It’s a lifestyle And I’m 63
The realization of taking Metformin, and Berberine can be catastrophic for some, in particular if you have any kind of thyroid diseases, keto acidosis, even shock can account from death. I studied a safer way if you need to take both: If you seperate Metformin say for example mornings, and 2 hours before bedtime take Berberine, this will allow your system to get less bad GI effects from Berberine, also note: Cinnamon grade is needed for Berberine to active AMPK, the mitochondria will be likely to accept the combination. I have taken 10000mg Metformin two times a day for the past eight years. Started SugarMD berberine, substituting for one of the Metformin tablets each day for the past two weeks. Feel a cognitive boost.
I hope you added an extra zero to that as 10000mg twice daily would probably cause you to expire. 1000mg twice a day is what I remember as being the max dose. In other words a total of 2000mg or less per day.
Been on Berberine for 2 months I check my A1C next month. What I do see currently is a loss of 15 pounds in 2 months. Much more energy and getting better quality of sleep.

I am 70 with well-maintained type 2 diabetes My last therapy was 30mg Gliclazide plus twice 500mg Metformin. 45 days ago, on your advice, I took Berberine 2x500mg I gradually started to reduce the therapy and now I am on 1/2 30 mg tablet of Gliclazide and two x 1/2 500 Berberine Every morning my blood sugar is below 5. Hi, Just a quick question. I was previously diagnosed with parotid cancer. One of the alternative treatments for cancer includes metfomin. Are there any supplements that have the same actions as metformin? I take berberine and love it, but the two are different, and you need a Rx for metformin. Thanks! Love your videos. I started taking advanced glucose support around 4 or 5 months ago, and it has brought my blood sugar down and my A1c down quite a bit, so I just purchased the Super Berberine and added it to my breakfast meal with 500mg of Metformin XR and I ended up having a hypo of 54 at 3:30PM. I do intermittent fasting every day, so I eat breakfast around 9 or 10 AM in the morning and dinner at about 4 PM and I only eat twice a day (no lunch). My type 2 was a side effect of 9 1/2 years of prednisone for severe asthma. When I developed the diabetes I was shocked. My doctor was surprised I hadn’t been told it was a possible side effect. Anyway. I controlled the diabetes for a long time with diet and exercise. Then I was put on metformin. 500 mg. Then 1,000. Then 1,000 2 x a day. I would like to try the Berberine combo. Do I just start it and as my blood is checked by a doctor, the doctor adjusts the metformin dose? My body lets a lot of things just float around in my blood without absorbing it. I had a horrible time. Had taken Met for years. My body said no more. I was so sick with diarrhea. My doctor wouldn't talke me off until I had an A1C. Ive started taking dihydroberberine two weeks ago. I take one capsule 3 times a day and had no side effects. My doctor did give me a prescription for metformin but i have not gone to get it yet because of the sidebrffects ive read about. Im insulin resistant and have issues with weight gain. I am taking Sitaglu Met XR (1000mg metformin plus 50mg sitagliptin). Since Dihydroberberine is a better option, as it is natural. If I want to stop Sitaglu Met XR, how much dose I need for a combination of Metformin XR and Dihydroberberine. Your guidance will be appreciated.
How about the effect of Metformin and Berberine on strength training? Since they activate AMPK, and thus deactivate mTOR, this might blunt the effect of strength training on protein synthesis in muscle. Would it be possible to avoid this deactivation of mTOR just when training, and still use these substances at other times. To do that, we would have to know how long the effect holds. And how long after training we want mTOR to not be supressed. I personally dislike this thought that always activate AMPK for health or longevity reasons! I think it's more likely that we want to alternate more naturally between mTOR and AMPK. Although, it wouldn't surprise me if todays overfeeding lifestyle has skewed it towards mTOR.

My A1c went from 6.4 to 5.8 and my sugar went from 109 to 98 in a month and a half while taking berberine with cinnamon

Before meals, the suggested target blood glucose range is 4.0 to 7.0 millimoles per litre.

If your getting hypo it means you bloodsugar is to low if im not mistaken. You should eat more often.

Berberine does work for me. But after a few days I started with diarrhea and I can't take it. Bummer!

My type 2 was a side effect of 9 1/2 years of prednisone for severe asthma. When I developed the diabetes I was shocked. My doctor was surprised I hadn’t been told it was a possible side effect. Anyway. I controlled the diabetes for a long time with diet and exercise. Then I was put on metformin. 500 mg. Then 1,000. Then 1,000 2 x a day. I would like to try the Berberine combo. Do I just start it and as my blood is checked by a doctor, the doctor adjusts the metformin dose? My body lets a lot of things just float around in my blood without absorbing it. I take B-12 injections because of it.

Would Berberine or Dihydroberberine while taking Metformin assist in lessening or stopping Diarrhea? I have dropped from 2000 mg Metformin daily to 1000 mg of ER Metformin and still have issues with Diarrhea.
I have the same problem, especially after having my gall bladder removed. No help for the diarrhea from berberine.
Berberine on its own caused severe constipation in me, with metformin I actually felt pretty normal day to day. I know every human responds to things differently though.

I had a horrible time. Had taken Met for years. My body said no more. I was so sick with diarrhea. My doctor wouldn't talke me off until I had an A1C. Between Covid early days and I couldn't leave the house, I simply lived in the bathroom. Literally.
One of the worst experiences ever. And I've begun through a lot.

Ive started taking dihydroberberine two weeks ago. I take one capsule 3 times a day and had no side effects. My doctor did give me a prescription for metformin but i have not gone to get it yet because of the sidebrffects ive read about. Im insulin resistant and have issues with weight gain. Hoping berberine will help this. Watching this to see if i can take both

No medication has very long term study nor herbal products. It boils down to experience. Herbal products have centuries old experience among folks.

How about the effect of Metformin and Berberine on strength training?
Since they activate AMPK, and thus deactivate mTOR, this might blunt the effect of strength training on protein synthesis in muscle.
Would it be possible to avoid this deactivation of mTOR just when training, and still use these substances at other times.
To do that, we would have to know how long the effect holds. And how long after training we want mTOR to not be supressed.
I personally dislike this thought that always activate AMPK for health or longevity reasons!
I think it's more likely that we want to alternate more naturally between mTOR and AMPK.
Although, it wouldn't surprise me if todays overfeeding lifestyle has skewed it towards mTOR.
